The DLC has introduced a new method for shiny hunting, eliminating the need to make a Herba Mystica sandwich. This method requires a visit to the Blueberry Academy cafeteria and a base rate of 1/4096, which is minimal. However, with the use of sandwiches, the Shiny Charm, and Mass Outbreaks, the chances of finding a shiny Pokémon significantly increase.
To unlock 5 and 6 star raids, use sandwiches to boost raid power and shiny chance, and find the best pokemon to obtain herba mystica. This guide also explains isolated encounter and mass outbreak methods.
However, all Shiny Sandwiches discovered so far in the game require some sort of Herba. To catch shiny Pokemon without Salty Herba Mystica, all Shiny-hunting sandwich recipes in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet require Salty Herba Mystica. To make Sparkling Sandwiches, gather different types of Herba Mystica from five-star or above raids, with six stars being the easiest to obtain.
Herba Mystica is a rare item that boosts shiny Pokemon spawn rates in Tera Raid battles. To reset the Tera Raid map and target the best Pokemon to farm Herba Mystica fast, you can reset the Tera Raid map.
In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, outbreaks are the best way to shiny hunt, as they require time manip, KO 60 to max the shiny rate, and picnic reset. Combining two Herba Mysticas, such as tomato, green pepper, or red pepper, can activate Sparkling Power: Grass, making it easier to find shiny Pokemon.

I love the mass outbreak shiny odds, as someone who doesn’t have enough time to do the Mesuda method, it’s nice that we now have a slightly less time consuming way to get shinies. A handy tip I just found that you and other people may not know. Once you unlock the lock-on feature you can use this to reach unintented places in area one, giving you access to ~lvl20 mons including Scyther, Marill, the mastiff dog mon, Toxel, Phanpy and more. I am still exploring but currently a lvl 22 Toxel is my strongest pokemon on my team. Quaxwell lvl17

Not directly related to the topic but man these games look so damn amazing and I can’t wait to play tomorrow. Only addition I’d love to see in a future gen is being able to make a base since we’re now likely in the open world era of Pokémon. I’d love to be able to have a base set up that I can customize however like a traditional survival game would have.
The nursery method just seems like a streamline portable version of the old method. Kind of weird that it will be random from the pokemon in your party (sounds like some frisky business going on in camp 😂) but I guess if you swap out your team then you will know what you’re getting. Will make breeding multiple pokemon fast though.
I was just about to give up my shiny hunt but you actually don’t need the sandwiches, you can shiny hunt before the end of the game. But I had to set up a picnic a ton of times still. Sandwiches sound awesome but I was too impatient and after about 2 hours I have a shiny bagon. Wish gamefreak kept the shiny sound from arceus though. Thank you for the awesome advice!
WHEN does Peanut Butter unlock at the Bakery please? How? My husband has defeated 2 gyms &1 titan but still only has a few new foods. I refuse to play past getting my ride until I know this. Every single guide out there makes it sound like all foods are available at the starte of the game &that is obviously false. So I’m starting my French play through for a Metamorph until someone tells me otherwise what to do. Thank you.
I just brought the Pokemon Violet Game and I haven’t even been to the School yet and I caught a Shiny Hoppip already which surprises me to see a Green Hoppip which I realized it was Shiny so I saved the game before battling it and I did catch it! I just started playing the game after 6:30Pm and it took me over 20 Times to get a Female Sprigatito which has good Status!
Hey random question when it comes to killing 60 of a mon to get the extra roll can that 60 combo be reset or is it like.. kill 60 and you forever have that bonus roll? kinda like the research boosting shiny chance forever when complete? OH another thing can you stack this modifier with the auto battle feature?
My initial thought was they want to make getting eggs more PG by having you make sandwiches for the Pokemon instead lol. I’m having a hard time understanding why they took away the daycare system. I’d also like to know if Tera types can be passed down? With each Ditto having its own Tera type that would be neat.
When you do the auto let’s go battles to train & level up, do your pokemon recognize which wild pokemon are shiny? Here’s why I ask: I was leveling up my Capsikid in the desert by taking out all of the silicobras, phanpys, and donphans. I got to this one phanpy and my capsikid kept refusing to battle it and I wondered why when it was able to take down all the others plus donphans. So I initiated a regular battle with it thinking maybe it’s at a higher level. As soon as the battle started it sparkled and was only at lvl 22 so I was like wow Capsikid could have actually killed this thing. And since phanpy’s shiny is one of those barely noticeable differences from the original I lucked out by Capsikid refusing to battle it

when he says turn off autosave for shinies turn it off only for that moment don’t turn off autosave if you’re play for an extended period of time and you forget to save frequent otherwise nintendo will softlock making you lose all your progress from your time if you didn’t save from personal experiences i mean bro i lost 7 hours of time 💀
Hi Austin I’m a little confused on how the terra typing works like I get they change their types but what’s the point in the buff to them type of attacks if they can’t learn those type of attacks like if you got a grass Pokémon that has the terra type of fire well other than like sunny day there isn’t much else you can do so it’s pointless
I wasn’t even gonna play this gen, but your articles got me hyped and I caved. I don’t regret it! I caught a shiny Lechonk within about 5 minutes and was just grinding that area, found a shiny Tarrantoula and in my over-eagerness, forgot to save & KO’d it! 🙁 That’s why I be here, so thank you Mr AJP 🙂
I really don’t like that the shiny noise is gone. It was such a thrill to hear it and look out for the shiny Pokémon. I get that this way makes shinies a lot more difficult to get and therefore more “special” but I don’t trust myself to be able to find shinies in the wild without some special indicator. I guess on another level, it’s also an accessibility issue for players with color blindness or similar issues in seeing certain colors. The Let’s Go sweat drops are one way to get around it, but it’s still a mess

Boy, whatever that knocking sound is when you go quickly though a menu is really something. It’s not max-level annoying, but I can literally feel it through my teeth in my left earbuds. Thought it was just the wireless ones I was using with my TV, but my wired earbuds do it here too. Must be something to do with the in-game sound mixing. Cool article though! Very informative. Makes the whole breeding via picnic deal a lot less stressful for me.
On sandwiches for hatching eggs: I did a banana + butter (2 bananas, 1 butter) and NO peanut butter, I washed my Pokemon and found 2 eggs. The sandwich had egg power 1 and I’m sure the maximum time lapsed was around 2-3mins from when I started the picnic! So, maybe actions during the picnic fasten the egg’s finding! Have you tried this @AustinJohnPlays?
People who knowingly hack Pokemon and trade them to unsuspecting people who then get banned are some of the WORST people out there. Seriously, I just don’t play Pokemon online AT ALL for fear of getting banned from Online, which as a Splatoon player, would basically kill the game for me. On a brighter note, are the Paradox Pokemon able to be found in outbreaks? I just started playing, but I already know there’s a specific Paradox form I might want to hunt in the future. If not, can they be bred?
How do you make your game look so good. I use a Razer Ripsaw capture card and I play on my PC but my game looks like DS level quality. I even have a bitrate of 40,000 and even tried 60,000 but it doesn’t make a difference. Everything everywhere says the same exact thing that doesn’t help or they don’t even talk about switch quality. I never cared about the quality until Scarlet and Violet because all the Pokémon look so blurry and I want to make sure I can see shinies.
Can I just say that not as a brag but day 2 of playing scarlet near the lighthouse area in the beginning of the game after Koraidon or Miradon saved you and you meet and battle Arven, after the cutscenes and battle, a shiny lechonk appeared out of nowhere and now I have a shiny lechonk who evolved into the female oinkalougne form which I am very happy about
Man, I hate the way they handle bans. Like I understand they don’t want people hacking and modding their games, but it always ends up with tons of innocent people getting banned as well, sometimes not even the actual people doing it get banned. The only way to avoid some of the stuff we see nowadays is to have extensive knowledge of a game. A child’s a game that’s played by mostly children meaning they most likely won’t understand what any of it means or the reproductions. And even then sometimes you can’t truly know.
Is your math okay? If your regular shiny rate is 4096 isn’t the outbreak rate going to be per-Pokémon not per-outbreak? So without any buffs your shiny rate at 60 Pokémon would be 60/4096. And with all buffs would be 60/512. If the 512 rate is only after the 60th then your rate would be 1+x/512 with x being every extra Pokémon after the 61st.
Your last warning is a bit scary. If you get a hacked (as you said, shiny level 100 perfect stats etc) pokemon from a SURPRISE trade, you can get your switch banned permanently if you don’t release it immediately?! What if you get a hacked one that isn’t so obvious, and so you keep it…and get banned too. This seems REALLY BAD and makes me not want to surprise trade at all.
Picz are accent characteristics just like the color guy in Pokémon picachu and eevee it kinda has an )hidden(* characteristic, think about the rest of the game what colour slectrumé did the Pokémon belong too ( it’s like the hardware clock &&& your starting initial in your in game caracter & ITHER~symbolsz. & there other flags you have triggered besides in game clock time online partners &&&&&& presets just like emotional error nd your steps like yojimbis es dog in final fantasy and such and such and such kinda think of it as a pastachio ( I REALLY HATE THEM ) ; just a long list of lists .(SORRY)^ kinda
