Is The Kaui Ward A Useful Amulet For Poe Rangers?

The Karui Ward is a unique Jade Amulet in Path of Exile, which can be transformed into an Alternate Art skin using the /convertracereward chat command. This item is not tradeable or can be turned back into the original item. Replicas can be obtained from Curio Displays in the final reward rooms of any Grand Heist.

The Karui Ward is a popular leveling amulet, with 5 players using it on the first day of the league. However, with new leages starting in a couple weeks, it is essential to collect all relevant leveling gear. At level 18, players can get Concentrated Effect and Elemental Damage with Attacks (drop onslaught/added cold, start using a silver flask at lv22). At level 24, players can use Karui.

Assuming you’re going Raider, you need to buy them from Siosa. Additionally, you’ll be handicapped by a unique item. The Karui Ward is an excellent amulet for attacking with projectiles, increasing movement speed. It is typically less useful than a well-rolled rare amulet, but it is good for leveling due to its 10 move speed already.

The Karui Ward can be used with any Elemental Damage Skill, but it’s not the best choice for Bow builds as they tend to use Karui Ward. Blind lessens the effect. Other unique amulets include the Wurms Molt belt, 2x iron ring, Thief’s belt, and the Karui Ward Jade Amulet.

In conclusion, the Karui Ward is a great amulet for leveling, but it should be replaced with something with stats, life, flat damage, and crit multi.

  • Thanks for this. Thinking about going Pathfinder this league. Your guides are such high quality. Can tell you put a lot of effort into your articles. No idea why you haven’t broken 10k subs but you will once PoE2 comes out. Really appreciate your content and hope you continue at this for a good, long while.

  • Hello, everything looks so easy in the article XD, I am a new player and i really do not understand a lot of things from the game yet and I am looking for answers. So, basically gear does not matter that much, is just the socket colors, numbers and links what matters the most? which ascendancy do you recommend for a Elemental hit build? thank you for the article, it was really helpful.

  • Hello bro nice vid! im really new to this game, just started 3 days ago and made a ranger, i wanna learn the basics to start the new league with more knowledge, i always liked the archers class, im old school player diablo 2 but this game is a lot more complex in general, what u recommend me to go? i saw a lightding archers and a toxic rains build, i dont know if exist another one better build a pshycal dmg one? cheers.

  • Honestly this is extremely broken. You momentum dash valley right away. And just go ahead and buy mortgage archer. You cannot do this in ruthless. The balance in the generic mode is a total joke. In most games it would be considered broken due to being extremely flawed. It would be much better to see ranger on Ruthless. Because more and more are migrating over simply for a better more balanced experience. Play what you enjoy. Of it’s easy mode. But Ruthless is factually better designed and balanced. There are features only available in regular. But not worth it. There are only two reason to play Ruthless. Preferring some features over design/balance. Or you enjoy easy mode in games. Anything else is called rationalization to cover up one of those reasons. And can be used for anybody who would rather not play a normal mode in games.

  • maybe im just stupid asf. decent guide but u move way to fast for people that have no idea what they are doing didnt even know i had portals when u said to put a portal on a bridge. others prob dont feel the same but im get frustrated cause im losing time just trying to figure out 90% of what ur talking about. not showing if ur lvling ur gems that u have at start or if u just dont lvl since ur switching out some later. not really explaining what ur points go into ur just running past it.

  • I can confirm this. I have been playing the build from Necro league and this league. The sigil + frostbolt +50% Damage taken from mana literally gives you so much tankiness against hard hitting bosses. The more mana you have, the more damage you do + the more energy shield you get due to ascendancy (20% mana as energy shield). You get permanent 4 endurance charges + 4 power charges through ascendancy. You can go (armour + energy) or (armour + evasion) or (evasion + energy) routes. A decent map clearer, not as fast as say LA, but it makes it up by not being squishy and things will rarely bother you. You get arcane surge that gives you 20% more spell damage and mana regeneration rate from ascendancy. So all in all this build is tanky + heavy hitting in one package!

  • This build is pinnacle “zero to hero” build. You can play it from level 1, it has a smooth progression, you farm out your gem in merc lab to start maps with the trans gem, and there aren’t any crazy combos you need – every item is individual, so upgrading is much smoother. You can afford your Atziri’s Foible? Manage resist and put it on. You drop Kitava’s Thirst? Manage your resist and put it on. It scales to 100s of millions of damage, it’s tanky enough for all the content, and it feels nice. Everything about it feels great and I can’t see myself not starting with this build until it’s nerfed.

  • Chaintain Righteous Fire is also good this league. Maybe it’s not as fast against bosses, but it’s a complete tank. I can actually crank the verisium ore nodes to full and actually win the encounters. Having 5.5+ life with so much regen – even in ssf, which is what I am doing so I have invested nothing but time – and it’s a great league starter. The only downside to this build is the first 2 acts feel pretty rough, because you’re taking a Marauder and are playing him like a Templar. But at level 21 or 22, everything is very smooth. It might even come online faster than this templar build. In fact, with righteous fire, you don’t need any unique items or transfigured gems at all, so in some ways, I think it’s better for league start or for SSF. It’s worth nothing this templar is not a league starter for SSF. Definitely should put that caveat out there. A lot of Ziz’s builds are crap for SSF. Personally, I think the best league starters are SSF builds because the average player isn’t going to progress as quickly as a no-lifer playing for 24-36 hours straight, and also utilizing the trade feature expertly or with their chat. In fact, I would argue that by playing another character and getting the Divine’s, it enabled you to avoid the roughest part of this build. If you haven’t started the new league yet, I’m warning you away from this build. Go with something else that requires no uniques or transfigured gems at all instead.

  • I legit just got the base build set up yesterday after doing about 4 Merc Labs to get the transfigured Ice Nova gem. Only had to use the 12 or so Chaos Orbs I had acquired all throughout the campaign for trading and currency exchange. Very powerful for someone like me that’s never really got to delve into maps, and reminds me of the ol frozen orb build from D2.

  • I always loved archmage builds. As soon as I drop kitava’s thirst I’ll farm the gems and reroll to this. Looks insanely strong. For now my boneshatter jugg feels pretty decent as well. It’s nice to just facetank everything with 7 endurance charges, and non busted mobs go pop in one hit in red maps. And my weapon isn’t even that good, I think I’ve got t6 flat phys and crafted 60% increased on a vaal axe.

  • I’m playing this build on SSF and I can confirm it’s easy to put together and it is seriously strong. Having a great time… I even switched to Frost Nova way too early (around level 40) just for kicks to see what would happen, and it worked well enough to play and have fun. I had some gear in my stash from my starter character, but nothing amazing. GIVE IT A TRY….!

  • @Raxxanterax question for you (or anyone else who wants to weigh in). i’m new to poe and love the game, though i’m not fast at all at it. i’m only at the end of act 2 of the campaign and never beat it in a previous league cause i never found a build that i liked to hold my attention long enough. currently im building fubgun’s LS slayer build, but have always enjoyed caster builds in other games like D4 and LE. so my question is, which build in your opinion would be the easiest to build that would give me the best experience and see the most content in the game? (continue with LS slayer, or play the build in this article?)

  • Is this something I could do on console? I got discouraged as a new PoE player on console 2 leagues ago I think? There was just so much and I was overwhelmed. I was also on a Boneshatter Juggernaut, decent but apparently I had missed when it was really good. I didn’t feel like I was going anywhere with it. Oh also just felt like I was at too great a disadvntage on console.

  • It’s strong, I agree. But I don’t like one thing. I play kitava first, so my frostbolt casts automatic. I have 110 mana per cast. But sometimes kitava is not triggering. So I stand in the middle o pack and cast for 3 secs.. Hoping for frostbolt to cast.. And hoping that I will not die within that time.

  • The only downside is if you dont have a powerful pc it will be unplayable. I have a ryzen 5800x and rtx 3070 so not that great and of all the games and builds I have ever played this is the only one that drops my FPS bellow 80. Stil good but if you have anything below that def do not play this. You can try the ball lightining of orbiting variation tho. It also really clutters the screen so if you are not familiar with the bosses mechanics it can give you some trouble.

  • Can someone show me as a new player to this build, how to make my the midgame Profane wands in this build on the cheap? Is there a guide online somewhere? If so, I cant find it. Thank you in advance. Just hit level 73 and am using fairly poor wands. Also- can you run the level 33 lab to find the gems, or does it need to be higher level labs to get them to show up?

  • I remember Ziz saying SST was the strongest. Played it and no it’s not. It’s a second rate crowd cleaner. Now I’m on the lookout for a better build but I don’t believe all this strongest build crap. I want to know if it can clear maps better than everything else, and be able to do bosses even if it’s not the best one-tapper.

  • As a new player I don’t even know what class you chose to level, It doesn’t say anywhere on the build guide you linked and you don’t mention it in the article. I’m sure this is something just self evident to anyone who plays the game more than two minutes but yeah I really don’t know what “Level 99 Hybrid MoM Ice Nova of Frostbolts Hierophant” means all I know is about this game is that Asmongold chose to level a witch and in this game that means necromancer.
