Does Pluto represent wealth?

Pluto, a Greek god, was one of several euphemistic names for Hades, the god described in the Iliad as the most hateful to mortals. The name was believed to refer to the boundless riches of the earth, including crops on its surface and hidden mines. The confusion between the two gods Plouton and Ploutos (“Wealth”) held a theological significance in antiquity. Pluto, as a lord of abundance or riches, symbolized the positive aspect of the underworld god, symbolized in art by the “horn of plenty” (cornucopia).

Roman poet Ennius considered Pluto a Greek god to be explained in terms of the Roman equivalents Dis Pater and Orcus. It is unclear whether Pluto had a literary presence in Rome before Ennius, but some scholars believe that rituals and beliefs pertaining to Pluto entered Roman culture with the establishment of the Saecular Games in 249 BC.

During the Roman Imperial era, Greek geographer Strabo (1st century AD) made a distinction between Pluto and Hades, stating that among the Turdetani, it is “Pluto, and not Hades, who inhabits the region down below”. In the discourse On Mourning by Greek author Lucian (2nd century AD), Pluto’s “wealth” is the dead he rules over in the abyss, while the name Hades is reserved for the underworld itself.

Why is Pluto no longer considered a planet?

Pluto, once considered a planet, has been deemed a “dwarf planet” by the International Astronomical Union (15 years ago). This is because it has not cleared its neighboring region of other objects, resulting in the presence of numerous asteroids and other space rocks along its flight path. This downgrade is celebrated annually on August 24, known as Pluto Demoted Day. Despite this, planetary scientist Cathy Olkin at the Southwest Research Institute believes that Pluto’s fascinating nature is not diminished by its loss of planet status.

What is Pluto on birth chart?

Pluto, the “underworld” planet, represents renewal, rebirth, spiritual rebirth, beginnings and endings, and power struggles. A birth chart determines placements in signs, planets, and asteroids, defining an individual’s astrological identity. It calculates the astrological aspects and sensitive angles of the magical moment of birth. Acknowledging all signs of the zodiac is crucial for understanding our astrological aspects and addressing issues of control.

What element is Pluto astrology?

In astrological tradition, the planet Pluto is associated with the element of water. Individuals born under the influence of this element are thought to possess a depth of emotion, an acute sense of intuition, and a high degree of sensitivity. These characteristics are reflected in the energy associated with the water signs.

What is Pluto changing signs in 2024?

Pluto’s shift into Aquarius on January 20, 2024, marks the start of a new era. From May 2 to October 11, 2024, Pluto’s retrograde will move between Capricorn and Aquarius before settling into Aquarius for 20 years. This retrograde presents an opportunity to tap into our inner strength and power. Aries (March 20-April 19) can experience a transformation in their interactions with their community, but may need to reassess their hyper-competitive mindset and seek new ways to collaborate with their community.

Why is Pluto significant?

Pluto, the ninth planet in our solar system, has been a topic of fascination for scientists and space enthusiasts since its discovery in 1930. The International Astronomical Union (IAU) reclassified Pluto as a “dwarf planet” in 2006, causing controversy among the scientific community and the public. However, many scientists and laypeople believe that Pluto still deserves its place in the lineup of planets due to historical and scientific reasons.

Pluto was discovered in 1930 and has been considered a planet for nearly 76 years. It is the largest dwarf planet, larger than several other objects in the solar system classified as planets, such as Mercury, and has a unique geological makeup that scientists are still studying. New scientific discoveries have revealed that Pluto has five moons, each with its own unique characteristics. Additionally, Pluto’s atmosphere is unlike any other in our solar system, with a hazy blue appearance caused by the presence of nitrogen and methane gasses.

Advancements in technology have allowed us to get a closer look at Pluto than ever before. In 2015, NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft flew within 7, 800 miles of Pluto, providing unprecedented images and data about this distant world. This revealed intricate details about Pluto’s surface features, including vast plains, towering mountains, and even a heart-shaped basin.

Despite the reclassification, many people still believe that Pluto is still a planet. For many years, Pluto had been classified as the ninth planet in our solar system, and it became a crucial part of our cosmic story. Its removal from the list of planets was a significant change in the way we understand our solar system. The idea of Pluto being the ninth planet was so ingrained in our minds that it became a part of our space-loving hearts.

Restating Pluto as the ninth planet is more than just a matter of classification; it is about acknowledging the importance of our curiosity and fascination with the cosmos. It is about recognizing the role that Pluto has played in our understanding of the universe and our place in it. It is about keeping alive the sense of wonder and excitement that comes with exploring the unknown.

In conclusion, Pluto deserves recognition as our ninth planet, despite its small size and irregular orbit. Its unique properties and contributions to science and culture make it an essential part of our understanding of the cosmos.

Why did NASA get rid of Pluto?

Why did NASA get rid of Pluto?

The 2006 General Assembly of the International Astronomical Union (IAU) passed a resolution that officially defined the term “planet”, defining it as celestial objects large enough to be rounded by their gravitational orbit around the Sun and to have shooed away neighboring planetary objects and debris. Pluto is now classified as a dwarf planet, as it is not large enough to exert its orbital dominance and clear the neighborhood surrounding its orbit.

This decision marked a significant shift in the classification of planets, as it was based on classifications from before major modern discoveries made possible by advances in technology. The demotion of Pluto felt like a positive step forward in understanding the universe and its mysteries.

Is Pluto still used in astrology?

Pluto, a planet in astrology, is a symbol of a person’s love for their emotions and personal growth. It is located on the Libra Ascendant in the individual’s birth chart and has taught them to be more tolerant of others’ views and opinions, embrace their hidden personality, and commit to personal growth. Pluto Retrograde, which is currently in the Libra Ascendant, represents the planet’s ability to be a ruling planet and a generational one. It is also associated with loyalty, confidence, and honesty, promoting personal growth and emotional acceptance. Pluto’s current location and sign are also important to consider.

What is the symbol for Pluto in astrology?

The astrological symbol ⟨⯓⟩ is the most prevalent representation of Pluto in English-language sources and across the globe. The symbol was originally exclusive to astrological contexts; however, it has since been employed in some astronomical sources following the 2006 reclassification of Pluto as a dwarf planet. Graphic variants bear a visual resemblance to Neptune’s trident symbol ⟨ ⟩, while a decorative variant observed in the Netherlands is an inverted ☿.

What is the Pluto archetype in astrology?

What is the Pluto archetype in astrology?

Pluto, the archetype of the soul, represents the shadow and father of all aspects of the psyche, including sexual taboos, fertilization, decay, volcanic eruptions, criminal behavior, and the unconscious. It is not necessarily representative of physical death but can relate to all types of loss, including dismemberment, loss of memories, hope, and purpose. The shadow aspect of Pluto can be identified in the time of its discovery, 1930, between two wars, the Great Depression, World War Two, the splitting of the atom, the creation of the atom bomb in Los Alamos, the Nazi death camps, and the deaths at Hiroshima.

The Ohm/Pluto Microtone is an excellent tool for penetrating deep into the body to promote change, and its energy for destruction, transformation, and regeneration has significant clinical applications. Through Pluto, we find ourselves placed in situations of conflict that challenge us at our deepest emotional and spiritual levels. It also provides the energy to liberate us from the restrictive hell of problems and obstacles of the past, allowing our spirits to emerge from the depths transformed into higher awareness and liberating hidden treasures within us.

Why was Pluto removed from the planet list?

Why was Pluto removed from the planet list?

In August 2006, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) downgraded Pluto to a “dwarf planet” status, stating that it did not meet three criteria for a full-sized planet. Pluto meets all criteria except one: it has not cleared its neighboring region of other objects. The “inner Solar System” includes the asteroid belt, terrestrial planets Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars, and the giant planets Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

This results in eight planets instead of the previous nine. A “dwarf planet” is a celestial body in direct orbit of the Sun that is massive enough to be controlled by gravitational forces but has not cleared its neighboring region of other objects.

  • Back in the 70’s I had my chart done by this new astrologer, Stephen Arroyo in Davis Ca. A few years latter, transiting Pluto conjunct my natal Saturn. I had been teaching kids meditation and some people who wanted to discredit the facility accused me of being a witch. It resulted in me having my life investigated, but in the end I was exonerated and found to be a victim of McCarthyism. I had Arroyo’s book Karma and Transformation then, it was my bible, it validated what this Pluto transit was.

  • Thank you Chris Brennan for this highly informative discussion with Richard Tarnas whom I was lucky enough to meet. I am excited to see Changing of the Gods which relects the work of Tarnas in his book Cosmo & Psyche. With natal Pluto conjunct my Sun I strive to understand the meaning of this placement still. Rick Tarnas has faciltated a deeper understanding in this interview. Chris Brennan’s production of astrological interviews with some of the great thinkers of our age needs to be watched and preserved for the generations of astrologers to come. Bravo Brennan!

  • Thank you! This was incredibly illuminating! If I may, I’d like to quote a particularly beautiful part of what Tarnas said… “”There are powerful archetypal complexes associated with the death and rebirth cycle that are so closely connected to the four outer planets… that the understanding of the inner meaning of these planets and the discovery of the outer existence of the planets is happening right at the time as our civilization, species, and planet is going through a death and rebirth crucible of transformation, which seems to me of great significance as if the universe is giving us bread crumbs to home, clues of insight to mediate and navigate this transformative moment we are in as an Earth community, and it shows the Cosmos somehow cares about the Earth and pays attention to it.”

  • This magnificent article has had deep resonance for me. I was raised by grandparents who had been hidden away during the European Holocaust. They were young children when it began. I recognized the effect of Trump on a large number of our population. That was familiar to me as a warning we were coming into a very challenging time. I began to study astrology more deeply at that juncture. I am not a professional astrologer but an Rn and an artist. Hearing this profound discussion provided me the ability to project what we will be going through and how to better prepare for it.

  • Boy, have I been waiting for this one since I saw first of the meanings and significations series. I am highly Plutonian (scorpio rising with pluto conjunct ascendant at the exact same degree minus a couple minutes, in the first house). Just started reading “Healing Pluto Problems” by Donna Cunningham this week. Thank you so much for this!!!! The Astrology Podcast is my absolute favorite website for road trips. 😀

  • Perfect timing for me. When I look back at all Pluto Saturn contact in my chart over the past 11 years, I notice that I have been hurt (life threateningly) by others. I will be embarking on the inconjunct in a few months and I got a huge warning today when someone threatened me. This podcast was up on my list when I returned home. I would have never made the connection between being hurt and the Pluto Saturn contact without this information. Pluto Saturn was your fourth segment. I took a 4 hour break after that part because I was so blown away. Thank you so much. I’m sure this information will play a HUGE role in saving my life as I can now make the necessary adjustments to my approach with others. I’ll let you know if I survive the inconjunct. Thanks again. 🙂 PS, In each case, the themes surrounding the conflicts are heavily sexual, violent and power play oriented with threats of death. However, the rebirthing process is unlike anything I have ever experienced. It truly is like a phoenix rising from the ashes. The warning today, even though it was tough for me to witness, could be a lot worse in several months if I don’t break this pattern. I love astrology, but GOD is still in charge as far as I am concerned and only GOD could have orchestrated the complicated, intricate and incredible chain of events which happened to me today…all of which led to that one segment of this podcast and my understanding of what is going on around me. Chris, I really can’t thank you enough. GOD, I will never be able to praise you enough.

  • If these things are happening on this planet, imagine what is happening in other parts of the solar system, astrology isn’t just set up for the human, but certainly there to pay attention and to make a change. So nice that there are humans out there paying attention to some extent. Personally speaking it was a great cleansing of my childhood sexual orientation through my parents that absolutely needed to be released. This is what I love about astrology. I guess the human is not that evolved that’s why it’s happening and possibly to the extreme. It’s all psychological reflective and extremely emotional for the human heart.

  • Yes, I agree astrologer, Dane Rhudyar was the biggest influence for 1940-60’s generations and the transcendental transpersonal astrology opening up the archetypal intuitive spiritual side.of astrology. I was so blessed gifted by being in his small classes in Shambhala bookstore in Berkeley in the 1960’s.Louis Acker was the first astrologer I studied with in Palo Alto before Rhudyar He was wonderful as was Betty Caulfield astrologer owner of Boston’s Fourth House Bookstore. She was student of Isabel Hickey.thank you, Astrology podcast for bringing on such a great astrologer and teacher, Richard Tarnas, and his great astrological knowledge and archetypal wisdom

  • Great podcast on pluto, to say the least. As Scorpio, with pluto in Leo, in 7th H, conjunct S node and 8th house cusp, have been life long student/experiencer of metaphysics/ spirituality, and abuse survivor. Am finally healing, growing, and surviving exponentially, and I’ve always thought of pluto as ruler of Scorpio, do not relate to Mars as a ruling planet at all. Not that it’s bad, but do not relate to war In a physical way or need for war, even though I finally figured out, I survived things like being strangled to death, and having a baby cesarean without anesthesia, to mars on asc in Cap. I’m into conservation and love preventative medicine. Thank you for this mind expanding podcast! It is “over the moon.” You guys really know your stuff! And this is a study that can help mankind to find itself, and there for it’s sanity. Hopefully, before its too late. Of course there’s wars and rumors of wars. We’ve always had wars, probably since humans invented tools, and now, with the media, we will always hear about them. God bless and keep you in the light!

  • Thank You for this whole series! It has been awesome, probably one of my fave‘s on this website now, and one I would recommend to anyone studying astrology. Understanding the planets in depth is so so valuable. And wow how incredible to finish this series off with Richard Tarnas, I felt like I was listening to some sort of Royalty or so haha. Everyone was absolutely great though! I enjoyed all the masters talking about the planets. Truly appreciated every single episode. Thank You So Much Chris, for providing this for us!

  • I have an ascendant, Saturn, Pluto grand trine. I’ve been working with those themes unknowingly my whole life. I have watched this article five times in total. I watch it in segments. It’s so dense. I’ve been using it to journal and do inner work. I’ve worked with my hypnotist on these themes. My inner work has been improving my life so quickly lately. Also the people around me are changing their lives too just automatically. Not everything that seems difficult is terrible

  • LOVE! This was such an in depth discussion, thank you both so much. And yeah, Richard Tarnas has to be one of the heroes of astrology, so this was a treat! Thank you Chris for bringing this to us! Indeed, you are sharing so much to the community, and we are so grateful, especially for your sun in pluto taking things to the extreme. It’s wonderful! 💙

  • I have been negotiating Pluto conjunctions to a stellium of 5 planets, some of which are conjunct, since Pluto arrived in Capricorn. Currently exact with my Mars exact conjunction with Moon. I have found myself riveted and transfixed by this exceptional podcast today. Just prior to waking up, to hear it, I emerged from a dream where my old iPad was laying face down with i.d. engraved on its silver surface. Pluto occupies my 12th house and is usually part of my education through graphic details, such as this. I cannot describe the amount of suffering I have encountered in the last couple of years through this emerging transit with Pluto..So I have to thank you both for being a pivotal part in enabling me to glimpse my journey to my reconstruction ! So many points raised here, have helped to demystify and give representation to the immense struggles and sacrifices I am encountering. A very fruitful refreshment lodging, on my journey. Thank you both most sincerely.

  • Your content has sparked a fire within me for the topic of astrology that probably was always there, but listening to your content has made me hungry for more and more knowledge. and for once I can say not only do I have a true authentic PASSION for a subject, but I also feel like I have an amazing resource to utilize as I continue on the journey. Thank you so much.

  • I’ve been waking up when Pluto is on the Ascendant (almost to the minute) for the past week which is SUPER early for me… quietly gathering astrological knowledge for 20 years and I still don’t know what this means. At least I think enough about the energy I was feeling wash through me to check the chart for that moment. I sleep by Chris’s book and my ephemeris these days. Thanks for all your hard work.

  • I am leo rising, sun conjunct pluto at zero degrees in libra and pluto will soon start transiting my DC…it will be squaring my Venus, mercury and Uranus conjunction in Scorpio. I can already feel the power of it by being empowered and not letting others to dictating me how to live my life. Thank you for this amazing presentation Mr Brennan. 🙏🏻

  • OMG! Such a fabulous interview! We are honored to be doing a sneak premiere of “Changing of the Gods,” followed by a live panel with Rick Levine and other renowned Astrologers, 6pm Saturday, Feb 5, at the upcoming Los Angeles Conscious Life Expo, Feb 4-7th, as part of our “Astrology and Consciousness,” track.

  • SO seriously appreciate this podcast. Mega Pluto dynamics here natally and current Pluto transit to personal planets. This interview invited me to access my deep core, feel less alone during these Capricornian Plutonian times, and restore a sense of inner-home and faith in depth psychology. Words, art, cosmos and wisdom. Thank you both.

  • It’s a real blessing to have Richard Tarnas who has lived and learned the cycles in real time AND able to communicate his wisdom, and to realize everything happens as it should ( by design)under any of these transits, change can only happen from those who can stand back and not become flotsam when it happens. I believe it takes more than a single lifetime to master fully

  • What a glorious discussion! Thank you both sooooo much. With my Sun in Libra in the 1st house CONJUNCT Pluto in Libra TRINE Moon in Aquarius in the 5th house, my phrase has become, “the darkest hour is continually dawning.” The energy gets transformed through music, art, relationships, healing work… and I am always creating, surrendering, transforming, becoming, purifying, retrieving, enlightening, healing, releasing, empowering… “Don’t get too comfortable being yourself,” says Pluto to my Sun. Lol. Big love and power to all in these transformative times. The energy potential is unlimited.

  • I don’t know how good of an astrologer Chris is, but he’s definitely the greatest platform of astrological education for the masses… Probably because of his Sun-Pluto conjunction in the 10H (with 9H signification since his MC is in the 11H)… This being his 2H profection year and the conjunction of his nodes.. All power to him for the future.

  • Thank you for sharing your astrological wisdom with the collective. I am of the belief that the cosmos reveals the infinite facets of itself based on the spiritual progression and growth of the collective consciousness. We discover what we have proven ourselves ready to discover. 🌅 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

  • I am appreciative of all you share. This is so helpful. I am working through things before my second Saturn return that I did not learn during the first Saturn return. I have some intense placements with my Mars, Pluto and Uranus in my 4th house in Virgo. I always thought family is so important and would defend my family. However, I realize I hid or missed some things that are not positive and I do not need to be accepted or involved with certain family members anymore. I kept trying to get approval from one influential well known parent in their field of work but that parent was never open to me. I realize it is okay to not have approval. It is the parents own childhood wounds that I accidentally triggered but it is not my problem to continue to take on. I don’t need acceptance and am finding my worth now without that parents approval. I have Saturn and Chiron in the 10th house of Pisces. Those placements and some others have been intense and difficult. I have to walk away to be able to live life to its fullest . The parent and siblings that actually think they are God, I do not have to be around or accept anymore. Realizing I have been the scapegoat or doormat in my family is not acceptable and no child should ever have to go through that experience ever. I don’t understand why group dynamics end up that way but should not in regards to any child at all. Parents should be required to go through parent training before they have their own children. They have no idea how much influence they have on their own children.

  • Astrology as a gift from the cosmos had me openly crying as I looked out my window at the snow blizzard and spotted an occasional sparrow struggling to fly a few yards. I put some sliced oranges under the protective branches of my front hedge🍊inviting the sparrows in 🌲 I’m no astrologer but this episode could, in my opinion, make anyone a better person.

  • Loving this DEEP dive into all things Plutonian. Hoping that someday the enormous heart-shaped feature on Pluto will be incorporated into our relationship with this archetype in the same way that the physical aspects of the other planets each have qualities related to their astrological interpretations… for example: Mars the “red” planet and the associations that color holds in our collective – passion, anger, warrior, sacrifice etc. Or Uranus spinning on its axis totally unlike any other planet in our solar system. Saturn, the planet of boundaries and edges – with its lovely rings…. Neptune’s totally enveloping oceanic blue ….each planet has physical properties that resonate with how astrologers see these archetypes. It cannot be an accident that Pluto has revealed to humanity, through our own curiosity and mastery of technology that it has a HUGE heart. This must be the archetype saying something important to us as they speak to us thru the language of the physical planets. One more comment regarding how these celestial bodies get named…. was anyone else cringing with dismay when the “scientists” ( ignorant of the power a name can invoke ) decided to let Eris have a seat at the table knowing what havoc we had invited into our collective by doing so? Perhaps I am showing my age but I remember those discussions and my great sadness when the announcement was made…. what fools these mortals be…..

  • Jah & Jahes love Chris. I will watch this again and again, especially with the Pluto transit Aquarius that we’re currently experiencing. I like most folks born in 1969 have Pluto conjunct Jupiter and Uranus in Virgo. I have a wealth of experience but the money part continues to elude me. Thank you so much for inviting this titan to the field of Astrology studies. Please post the link to where we can find him for more teaching. Blessed love. #1804 #Ayiti #ToutMounseMoun #HousingfortheHomelessNow #ProChoice #RawVeganforLife

  • This was epic on many levels! All of these planet articles have been amazing, but this one takes the cake (says the Scorpio Stellium w/Sun, Mercury, Venus and Pluto in Scorpio all in the 8th whole sign house) Mars is my ruler but Pluto is my Jam!!!! Also (as a therapist) I researched pyro-catharsis and the perinatal stages and had my mind BLOWN!

  • Hey Chris, Maybe you find this an interesting correlation between the Venus Starpoint cycle and the Pluto-Saturn cycle: The Venus Starpoint cycle is 1255 years; every 251 years the next starpoint from the 5 pointed Venus star comes in the same degreepoint as the previous Starpoint. After 1255 years the Starpoint cycle has made a full turn. It follows also the Pluto-Saturn cycle, it interacts with it. For example the Venus-retrograde in 13 degrees Gemini like the last one in may-june 2020 ( every 251 years)are always preceded by a Pluto-Saturn conjunction or opposition and are then followed by the Venus retrograde in 18 Capricorn like now, and in between those two retrogrades there is the full Venus in 6 Aries, this time last march conjunct Chiron (first in Gemini for new perceptions followed by the new start in Aries and then followed by a grounding retrograde in Capricorn),. The north-node during the retrograde in Gemini are then also alternating every 251 years between Gemini and Sagittarius. Interesting maybe? Figured it out myself in 2020. Venus retrogrades are so fascinating. For me they tell an evolutionairy tale about our emotional and spiritual growth. I add one more piece of information which you may find interesting about the same exact sequence during the previous Pluto-Saturn conjunction in Capricorn in january 1518 followed by the same Venus retrogrades in 1518 and 1519 in 13 Gemini and 18 Capricorn ( so two Venus starpoints ago before the 2020 one, which is 502 years earlier) It was the start of the Reformation and early enlightenment.

  • This was just riveting, from start to finish. I’ll be thrilled to see the film when it is released, and I’m so grateful to have a glimpse of Rick’s genius without reading the 600 pp – sorry! After a phd in mind-body science and four years reading Jung, i now have to garden and do artworks instead, mostly! Bravo Bravo Bravo, thank you both for this unparalleled conversation.

  • Really looking forward to this. Pluto just might be my trickiest. as 1st house conjunct Venus (same degree) in Scorpio. Great timing 🙏🏻 That conjunction is also loosely squared by my Saturn (within 11 degrees) and I’m going through my Saturn return right now… the south node just now entering my 1st house does give me some confidence in the chaos.

  • Awesome show! Not all the way through yet. The saturn/Pluto conjunction also brought up a lot of fear of death and overreach of governments. When I looked at the astrology before 2020 I saw intensity with government but could not have predicted the virus. I’d love to hear more about that. Also as we continue with the Pluto return and Saturn squaring Uranus it seems clear that it’s not just about the pandemic.

  • Great way to finish this series. Super cool that it coincided with all the activity with Pluto at the moment. I appreciated all the episodes in this series and my favorite was the Moon 🌙. I am biased though as someone with a Cancer Sun, Pisces Moon night sect ✨looking forward to seeing what’s in store for the podcast. Thanks Chris!

  • Thank you for this wonderful experience of listening to Richard Tarnas. I have Cosmos and Psyche in both kindle and print versions and still read from it. Astrology has provided an amazing guide for my life. From the time I learned to read my chart I was amazed at how well it told me about the life I had lived before, opening my mind and heart to what lay ahead.

  • Jah & Jahes love Chris. This was a FANTASTIC interview. It was clear that you were speaking to a GIANT in Astrology Studies and Research. I’m so appreciative of him because he was so conscientious about including the experiences of Blacks, women, native people, and ecology activists. I also very much appreciated the philosophy and psychoanalysis information that he shared. He is so clued into the contemporary significance of Western Philosophical traditions and he was sensitive to reference Indian mythology. I cannot believe that he has been doing this since the 1970s! I so wish I could take a class with him! I cannot wait to buy his book so I can soak in the knowledge. I wish I could ask him what he thought about Isabelle Hickey. Blessed love. #1804 #Ayiti #ToutMounseMoun #HousingfortheHomelessNow #AbolishCPS #DefundFosterCare #ProChoice #RawVeganforlife

  • I can’t believe this I couldn’t afford to take a class on Cosmos and Psyche but felt so strongly I bought the book anyway. It’s daunting so I put it on the bookcase thinking when I can I will take the class. Now here you are and you named the book I was scrolling and felt I should stop here!! Outstanding

  • What a great show, Chris! Richard was amazing, so knowledgeable and a pleasure to listen to! I have the pleasure to also know his wife beautiful and wise, Yvonne and her two sons and I also met Richard. A beautiful family and he is a true pioneer of the cosmos! Hail Hail a wonderful show!! Hi Richard! Well done!! 🙂

  • What a treat!! Pluto knocking on my door (squaring with my natal sun) holding the lost key for my Venus in Pisces opposing Pluto to release its energy, awakening a dormant chapter of my life with your so subtle, magic and profound inspiring conversation. THANK YOU for bringing light into the fantastic realm of our Plutonic Xibalba!!

  • Richard Tarnas has an ability to transmit his wealth of knowledge with a measured fluency that I find engaging to witness. Not sure how many gifted astrologers have an issue with hubris such that academic disdain is just the welcomed tonic…It requires an emotional and imaginal intelligence and discipline, which is a form of checks and balances on its own. There is spiritual pride, and yes, the intellectual rigor needs to be instituted more prominently within the general character of the astrological community. But that disdain which is an overarching social commentary – can be discouraging.

  • Just discovered this website and am so grateful for this message! Have been downloading a lot especially since the winter solstice. Began websiteing at an exponential rate and needed to hear this breakdown. Clearly spirit felt the same way bc this article just started playing randomly on auto play yay! Thank you for sharing your wisdom!

  • I’m reading through Jung’s book Memories, Dreams, and Reflections right now and keep getting this deeply Saturnian impression from him, but I wanted to wait until I was further into the book to pull up his chart. When you guys pulled it up, it felt like getting an early gift and I paused the episode to get a closer look. OF COURSE he has Saturn in Aquarius in the 1H!! I’m so very grateful for this Pluto episode, I would never have been able to work through his Pluto/Moon conjunction. I have an appreciation for Pluto that I wouldn’t have had before and now I’m eager to finish this Jung book so I can crack open Cosmos and Psyche!

  • The financial market has been a really tough one this past months, but I watched an interview on CNBC where the anchor kept mentioning “…CATELYN MORRIS…”. This prompted me to get in touch with her, and from October 2021 till now we have been working together, and I can now boast of $15k in my trading portfolio

  • Interesting interview with Richard. I don’t know if you’re familiar with the work of Eugenio Carutti, Argentinian astrologer, I think he’s brilliant explaining the nature of astrology and getting into the essence of every archetype by explaining the dynamics behind what we usually see as separate traits in a sign, he brings insights with mandalic clarity. I think Tarnas actually shared an interview with him and I don’t know if Carutti is a complete unknown in the English spoken astrologic community because if it was the case it would be a complete waste

  • Here’s what I think is going on with Pluto, and not only that but Neptune from months of studying this topic. When we are discussing both Pluto and Neptune, we are also getting into a sociological conversation. So I will just put the sociological context for both of these Planet’s meanings to sum it up because I’ll end up writing a freakin book on this subject. Here it goes: reconciliation Pluto in Fire Signs – Themes of nationalism. security. expansionism, future-focused (sci-fi) tech developments and sometimes with overlapping with themes of Air Signs. Pluto in Earth Signs – Themes of national disillusionment, isolationism, environmental crisis, distrust of all authority, governmental corruption, equality of opportunity. Pluto in Air Signs – Themes of International and Public Diplomacy, breakthrough (practical) tech developments, and sometimes with overlapping with themes of Fire Signs. Like Pluto, it would also be more concise to classify the years as “zeitgeist” for a Neptunian influence by their triplicities as NATIONAL, DOMESTIC CULTUREAL ISSUES. Neptune in Water Signs – Turbulence, dissension, and all forms of division. Liberalism somewhat to greatly flourishes. Neptune in Fire Signs – Radicalism, peak political violence, national malaise, distrust in all intuitions, and atomized individualism. Society is extremely polarized. Neptune in Earth Signs – Economy, Finances, moving up the ladder, and readjustments of the corporate sector. Conservatism somewhat to greatly flourishes.

  • Such a great interview! I’m a huge fan of Richard Tarnas’s work and couldn’t to watch this interview. Pluto plays a big part in my chart as the co-ruler of my Scorpio AC, conjunct Uranus (by sign) in the 12th house, opposite my Sun-Venus conjunction, and part of T-square with my sun and moon. I’ve only been studying astrology for 1.5 years, so I’m still trying to get my head around all the energies. This interview really helped! Thank you both!

  • This was AMAZING, very educational, and sooo enlightening to listen to. Thank you both! You two are adorable ✨🤓✨It only took me about 9ish months to get through the whole episode but that felt very appropriately Pluto!! 😅 As a Pluto tightly conjunct Sun in Scorpio myself, I rly appreciated learning more about the planet. 🖤🖤🌌🖤🖤

  • Congrats to this guy…. He’s got the understanding of all of this right on the tip of his tongue. The archetypal powers in nature (laws that govern all things within boundaries). Yes the different gods and goddesses throughout time were all the same understandings by different cultures and the ones who saw that the planets were a way of seeing the driving horse gave the planets those names…. It’s all the same thing! The mystery schools have always understood this!

  • so much of what is shared here..resonates with my own life..with scorpio as my ascendant~ also w/sun& moon Sagittarius..(Jupiter)in the second house in conjuction with venus in capricorn,,,it has been most challenging life living where pluto is in my natal chart here where i live…most challenging with death and illness and rising above it all..inspite of plutos presence located here makes it the most difficult place to live at for most of my life ~ but then with thousands of angels and being in connection with Divine Source…I have by my side bringing much heavenly blessings~~~~

  • thank you for this gift or wisdom and wonder. The great goddess Venus is stationing direct as I type which seems like a beautiful archetypal sign of Love itself moving forward with all its ongoing understanding. I’m inspired, and humbled, and open to all the ways in which this beautiful transmission will weave its way through my life. Grateful for all of this graceful intelligence.

  • I’ve listened to this conversation not only once in one sitting, but have rewound quite a few areas to re-listen to your views. Thank you so very much… a wonderful beginning to anyone’s day. 💗In addition –concerning the de-planeting of Pluto. A God would scoff at fools who do not believe in Him or who would argue over the size, shape or actuality of His existence. again I thank yoiu….

  • Wow, this is a fantastic discussion of Astrology and so much more! I always wondered about the correlation between the naming of planets with the names of mythological gods/goddesses and the expression of the planets’ qualities/traits; I have a better understanding now. Thank you, Chris, for tackling this topic. I will be following the “Changing of the Gods” documentary.

  • Pluto: 1 degrees applying Neptune. Applying 2 degrees semi sextile uranus. Applying conjunction 5 & 6 degrees Venus and mars. 3 applying trine moon. If I recall, a septile with sun. Semi squares with Saturn and Mercury BUT 3 degrees separating. Meh.. Not sure I listed aspects last time. A positive (possibly) with Pluto is taking the time to go through every planetary episode, but that could be Saturn. Pluto in 2nd conjunct mars and Venus in libra, someone may find out next week on how potent that placement is. Part of me wants to be vague, but I won’t. It’s a pattern I’ve noticed where it’s bad news for others to mess with that 2nd house by whatever means, even 6th. A possible surfacing of lot of nemesis/spirit/necessity being ruled by that mars in libra (I’m mainly referring to nemesis) is weird situations where there’s a hint to website that energy through Venus, not mars. What’s great about revisiting some of these episodes is being able to see how much of a difference it is after uranus moved away from the direct opposition where I’m less “rebellious”. I think I had a minor issue last time I listened to this where transiting uranus hit chiron which opposes natal uranus in scorpio. The 2nd round (overall) was significantly better after shifting to whole sign houses. I’m more interested this time due to that being supposedly activated by zodiacal release with that cardinal axis being activated. One story I didn’t share (because I didn’t remember) that’s along the lines with the Jupiter synchronicity is (told it too many times to type it out again) that, years ago, I told a friend it was weird to see a cardinal in the winter and she brought up the supposed symbolism.

  • I believe in the Outre Planets. They are very instructive. The Outre 3 are very big in my chart. Pluto is conjunct my Mars, Vesta & Venus. Mars/Pluto is in a T Square with Chiron opposite and sq a SD Jupiter. All this leads many people picking me as a Scorpio. Esp as in Modern Astrology Mars and Pluto are considered the co-rulers of Scorpio square that SD Jupiter in Scorpio. I have all this energy, currently, opposite my Sun. The FM was exact my 27° Cancer Sun. The transiting Sun and Pluto opposite it all. I’m dealing with a life threatening ailment. I was in excruciating pain and a fellow patient said l sounded likea wolf howling. Pluto events brought me to Astrology. Not the Luminaries, not the Personal Planets. Pluto did. Pluto energies hit me; twice. Pluto #1 Pluto entered Capricorn early 2008. My then new boss was a Capricorn (open enemies) she made my life hell. Turns out her husband, whom she divorced 4 years before, was born the same date as me; 21st July. She vicariously dumped all her angst on me. A long-term colleague was the way in which l found out I shared the birthdate. Colleagues then unloaded on me as to how similar we were. I then took a interest in it. Learning elements and modes, etc. Lightweight stuff. Pluto #2 Pluto went Stationary Direct exact my Dsc on 20/9/13. The day l knew my marriage was over. I knew very little about planets then. 6 weeks later l read something called “Pluto Goes Into Capricorn: Cancers Watch Out”. I read about what had happened to me in those 5 preceeding years.

  • I sent an email via Outlook, regarding an experience, that had been carrying on for a significant amount of time. I think that the reason more recently born people are able to report Plutonic effects, is because their origins or last incarnation resides outside of this solar system. The way I experienced this effect was yes one that called to reorganize my mentality or “beliefs” but I just endured a massive onslaught of all beliefs through out the ages and then it microscoped to the current and regional based on my location. Think of how we can tell the age of a tree by its rings….welll mind you I have always been a tinker and thinker but I never dabbled in astrology until this happened, as well as more pressing events that occurred concurrently.

  • I am exhausted by the topics covered. This conversation was a type of tour de force – truly valuable. So many insightful points. I feel like we are (4/24 as I type this) balancing on the pinhead of a future that we cant begin to imagine. Pluto is small but mighty. How it’s all gonna go is anyone’s guess but the planets have our attention.

  • What a great episode! His words about minorities experiences are very well thought out and so sincere!! Thanks! I’m almost through this whole series, still have Jupiter, the moon and the Sun left to listen to. I’m an expat living in Japan so I can stop thinking about Sailor Moon as I listen to this series 🤣😂

  • Beutiful interview I love Tarnas, but I disagree that the myth of Uranos does not have the archetype elements of the astrological Uranos. At the end of the day the myth of Uranos rappresent the dramma of the creator which cannot control its creature, it is the creation that rebel to the creator, the son who rebel against the father, the technic who turns against the man, the society who turns against the state, all in an eternal cycle. Uranos warns Saturn and says that one of his sons will do the same to him. When we look at a revolution cycle we should look at it from begining to the end, normally we look at it only at its begining, but very often revolutions at their end process turn against the values and principles from which they originated, generating as reaction an controrevolution. This is the myth of Uranos who rebel against the caos by creating but then he get afraid of his creation (revolution) which turn against him, and so start the eternal cycle of revolutions.

  • It would be interesting to try to look for astrological signatures that might describe astrology being legitimised – though it’s so dependent on social context (if trying to find a hypothetical sociocultural touchstone moment) that I’m not sure we’d know what we were looking for …but considering the nature of astrology and how contemplating it at the natal level can seem to collapse our linear sense of time (from the moment I was born key events were always going to happen as per the transits, ZR and so on making linear time seem like it blooms from an initial more complex seeding point that contains ‘it all’) I do wonder if astrology’s own fate may be described by the planets and if we look further ahead we might see something that points to mainstream adoption? I’m not sure I’d wish for that, more an exercise in indulging curiosity but this talk was so rich and wonderful that it has stimulated many reflections – so thank you!

  • Every episode I have watched has been fascinating and done with a perfect blend of passion, insight and professionalism. And it’s even cooler, Chris, that you’re from the same town that I’m from!!! It’d be really cool to meet you guys someday. I’ve studied astrology and my birth chart in various systems for several years as a hobby. Thank you again for all this amazing, self-inspiring information. <3

  • Omg, I love this guy. CIIS? Harvard? It would be great to get a list of books you all mention during the episodes. It took me three times to get the name Stanislav Grof! Fantastic podcast! I wonder if people think Venus Oppose Pluto is the same as Venus Square Pluto? I’m asking for a friend… 😉 I also loved what he said about Eris and Pluto.

  • I have that Pluto conjunct Moon and Uranus on Desc (Virgo) which is in opposition to Asc (Pisces) with Saturn/Chiron conjunction. This all squares the mid heaven of course. Currently progressed Moon conjunct that Pluto with Jupiter entering Pisces and my NN Taurus I am paying close attention these days.

  • I been thinking about me my life. I got pluto conj asc. So I was able to fit in anywhere. Almost immediate transformations to fit a certain archtypes and also bigger more permanent changes. I had red hair, now its brown. Ita getting darker now. I was hunter, hippie, goalie, mason, lover, drug addict, blacksmith, stepdad,

  • What Richard said it’s true. We first have to acknowledge that the Universe is not a static “death” place. The Universe is a mysteriously, spiritual environment with lots of different energies, combining and conflicting. That’s why I strongly believe that Astronomy and Astrology have to work more closely together instead of proving point’s who is right or wrong. The most disturbing thing I find in Astrology is the fact, that it’s still based on the “believe” of our ancestors, who thought the planets moved around earth. All our calculations are still based on that “fact”. We have too see it in another perspective if we want to have a better understanding how energies affects and “controlling” our behaviors on earth. For that we have to make a complete new calculation system. The sun is the center in our Universe, that’s a extremely important fact that cannot be ignored. Our calculations are based on Earth as center of the Universe and therefore can’t be accurate enough for understanding how things work in the bigger picture. Things are also shifting in space, that’s also a very important fact that cannot be ignored. Also we have to work more with 3D systems, why still working with a model used in prehistoric times? Now the best part is coming. When all these thoughts where crossing my mind, I wanted to read that disturbing part in one of the books again, that said “well we know it isn’t true, Earth moves around the Sun, but…” I opened the book, and like cutting a deck of cards, the page I opened was Saturn with the capital text “the direction sign”.

  • this blew my mind this morning! came on a “random” after-shuffle of something completely unrelated . . . almost made it through the whole 3 + hours before my phone died. as a lifelong plutonian (pluto first house has transited every personal planet and then some) i’m in perpetual pluto plights and perils . . . need all the guidance i can get ! . . . is there a richard tarnas mentor or pluto recovery program?!

  • Thank you so much, as a capricorn ascendant capricorn and pluto retro in my 8 house, I think this podast is very interesting… I have a big power struggle in 2011/2012 and than again in the years 2016 and I can tell you, It was nasty atack form dark beings, I told these beings my truth, standing in my own power without hurting anyone, but I was look deep and feel what they want, and act clever and not be afraid. I alsmost died one time, I feel it that way, I surveive because I fixet this on my own ( I feel that strongly), and not relying on anyones help, even not from the doctor. Do not hate this planet if he hits you, cause he is fixing things, even it it does not look like this, your karma? He is showing you what is not your way, and telling you to stand in your power and love the self, love your soul! But also if you meet a lover in this times with Pluto and the person have good intentions for you, but maybe that person is not a matrix rolmodel as a friend, because the person is maybe a addicted for example, but this person is showing you someting big ! For me I felt is was a karmic relation with much to solute (solution) in this lifetime. Take your power back and use your heart and the love within you, stay honest and tactisch sometimes to protect yourself. Trust me, Pluto send this one with a reason. Not just to say goodbye in one day 😉 cause this is a big lesson. (Isis and Osiris I get bums when you read that). Still 2 years to go with Pluto in my sign… and for the world a big change, I feel/see that in 2017 very clearly.

  • All I know is Pluto has been pure Hell in my sign of Capricorn since 2008. Crappy job, husband became disabled, had to move residence, hate the house im stuck in, lost my parents one after the other then in-laws and others in between right after another, wanted to enter work after caregiving and now pandemic. Pure HELL! It can move on!

  • I’ve likely listed (inadvertently) my Pluto placement/aspects where I don’t want to again. With it being an 8th profection year that’s noticeable I kind of will in terms of a humorous story (Pluto conjunct mars, Venus in libra) trine moon, septile sun, semi sextile uranus, sextile Neptune. Outer are semi sextile and sextile, uranus square moon. Venus, mars bi-quintile Jupiter.. blah, blah.. Under stress for various reasons much being side consequences of the pandemic I became bored with my musical tastes and found it too aggressive so I found female driven bands were connecting more so I isolated a few randomly picking songs where one won out; it music was calm and the voice was relaxing yet it wasn’t for a while that I started paying attention to lyrics and theme; I’ll play a game by highlighting her Pluto placements (there’s no birth time, date and location are correct).. Pluto: conjunct moon, conjunct Jupiter, conjunct uranus, conjunct mars, sun and Neptune sextile, Venus square. Mentioned them many times focusing on natal energy in the series, but humorously called Elysian Fields. Being stressed I kept repeating the song Lions in the Storm where I later read the lyrics and had a laugh because it’s thematically something I needed reminded of at the time. When I’d throw a list on random it would always be followed by Cities Will Fall; also humorous. “My sacrosanct priest, my medicine man Bathing me, blazing me utopian Apocalypse rising We saw it play out Chasing the moon Your siren’s devout You said cities will fall Cities will fall Have no regrets in spite of it all As the walls tumble down I’ll be wrapped around you” There’s a reoccurring theme where it’s like she shifted the Persephone myth where she was a willing participant as opposed to an unwilling victim like the song Black Acres.

  • Thank you for your version of the planets and new age additional info. You explained it very well sounds really thrilling to hear your experience.iam totally interested in the sky and what’s above the clouds. It’s fasinating. I really enjoyed it. One day I hope I have it so well in a row. U haven’t forgot anything. Well done for keeping on track not easy to do🌠🎆🌄

  • I don’t have favorites but wow! This has been really nice coming back to during this transit-ional Time can’t say everything iWanna say b/c it gets marked out by the over site but just wow thanks y’all so much I shall really handle this wealth of information w/care as we move forward in this journey! I praise y’all & continue to support from afar antares heart :. My pluto sits at 5’4″ as a scorpio rising. math meets constellations meets imagination we look up in awe & fill w/ wonder. We take a long journey to plutos moon and find another heart. I’m here during aries season and look over at the screen to see burthcharts of great minds w/north nodes here. Earth. Move her H to the front & then spell it again..heart. I believe love to be Art. It’s no coincidence venus symbolizes art as well as love. And see it? The time ticks and we move into taurus soon.. it’s all connected and to see it is to feel it.. someway, somehow. I liked when he mentioned the collective consciousness at the beginning. I think if there’s one take away from this upcoming transformation especially w/popular voted aquarius it’s that quote we must keep in mind. . Who are we collectively right now? Did we buy up all the TP? Did we fill in those blank type of questions or did we leave some for the next person? Generational earth month coming in strong here.. aqua is a popular grandmother don’t forget where we’re coming from!! Soo important b/c when we do the magic of going against her vows & coming up w/our own we only end up further divided.

  • Zeus was not the father of Aphrodite (Venus). She was born out of the Uranus golden sperm that fell into the ocean when Chronos castrated him. So, she is in the sense an offspring of Uranus and Oceanus, and so she is effectively on par with Zeus. Zeus while being the chief of all Olympian gods had no power over Aphrodite and was a bit intimidated by her because of the power of her beauty, which, of course, was not just about physical appearance.

  • One thing that nobody seems to consider (and to my mind is more than a little confounding) is that the USofA is the only nation in the world for which a Pluto Return has any first order influence due to the fact that the United States is the only nation that has a specific natal chart. Every other nation’s history either has no birthday as such, or is a slow emergent outgrowth from some other state. And even if another nation has anything close to a pinpointed birthdate, that date is lost in the mists of time and mythology. This leads me to think that giving strategic planning to the initiation of certain projects may be misguided.
