Astronomers have added Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto to the natal charts of individuals. These planets may or may not transit the 8th house during any lifetime, and sometimes they represent the end of a life. Water-related deaths or near-deaths always find Neptune and Admetos active at the time. Inhaling hazardous materials can cause rapid death.
Pluto symbolizes the cycles of death and rebirth, encouraging individuals to confront their fears, undergo inner metamorphosis, and embrace personal empowerment. Neptune, the planet of dreams, and Pluto, the planet of regeneration, mean deep transformation, personal growth, and evolution. Pluto is not a literal “death planet” in astrology, but symbolically associated with transformation, power, drive, and deep force.
Neptune and Pluto are often associated with death or present in some way when death occurs, usually in a hard aspect to one or both of the lights. Pluto is deeply connected to transformation, death, and destruction, bringing change whether we’re ready for it or not. Nowadays, Pluto is also considered a harmful planet, as its configuration can be life-threatening.
Neptune is tied to “magic” and Pluto is tied to “transformation, death, and destruction”. Hades means “the unseen” and Pluto means “wealth”. There is no specific death axis, and the cause and circumstances of a person’s death are as unique and individual as their birth.
In modern astrological analysis, the destructive release of energy is analogous to Pluto’s destruction of the ego and the energy such a transformation creates. Pluto is the ruling planet of Scorpio, which is the sign of sex, death, and transformation.

Why does Pluto represent death?
Pluto, the Greek god of wealth and the ruler of the underworld, was a more positive concept in ancient Greek religion and mythology. He was often conflated with Ploûtos, the Greek god of wealth, as Pluto ruled the deep earth that contained seeds for a bountiful harvest. The name Ploutōn came into widespread usage with the Eleusinian Mysteries, where Pluto was venerated as both a stern ruler and a loving husband to Persephone.
The couple received souls in the afterlife and were invoked together in religious inscriptions, being referred to as Plouton and Kore respectively. Hades, on the other hand, had few temples and religious practices associated with him and was portrayed as the dark and violent abductor of Persephone.
Pluto and Hades share two dominant myths. In Greek cosmogony, the god received the rule of the underworld in a three-way division of sovereignty over the world, with his brother Zeus ruling the sky and his other brother Poseidon sovereign over the sea. Under the name Pluto, the god appeared in other myths in a secondary role, mostly as the possessor of a quest-object and especially in the descent of Orpheus or other heroes to the underworld.

What is considered a dead planet?
A dead planet is a planet once inhabited by living organisms, which has been destroyed by a catastrophic event, typically caused by humans or intelligent life forms. Despite this, the average temperature remains within acceptable limits, water is drinkable, and air is breathable. Humans can survive by producing food in enclosed systems. Examples from sci-fi literature and post-apocalyptic movies include Silent Empire, where Futurers consider all human races as suboids and try to enslave them. They transform all planets into copies of their home planet, and when a civilization refuses to surrender, they send a virus that blocks chlorophyll molecules, leading to plant and animal death.

What is the planet of death in astrology?
Saturn and Rahu are the Mrityu-karakas or significators of death in Hindu astrology. Maraka refers to the planets that cause death at the end of a particular life-span, causing accidents, ill-health, poverty, and misery during their dasha or antra-dasha. Each lagna has a fixed maraka or marakas, with the two luminaries, Sun and Moon, and the lord of the 9th house generally not becoming marakas.
Primary determinants of death include malefic planets occupying the 2nd and 7th houses and associated with their lords. Secondary determinants include benefic planets in association with lords of the 2nd and 7th house, benefic planets in association with lords of the 3rd and 8th house, or the lord of the 3rd or 8th associating with the lord of the 2nd or 7th house. Tertiary determinants include Saturn associating with any of the aforementioned marakas, the lord of the 6th or 8th associated with a maraka, and the least powerful planet in the horoscope.
The results of good and bad karmas collected by man between intervals of birth become known in this birth, and the aggregate of man’s karma shape are comprehended with the aid of Jyotisha. The Amsayu method is used to determine the possible span of life if the Lagna is vested with strength, the Pindayu method for the Sun, and the Nisargayu method for the Moon.
Longevity is determined on the strength of the horoscope in its entirety and the dasa of planets. Diseases alone are not the cause of all deaths, but diseases resulting from bad karmas cannot be cured. The grant of term of life depends on Bhagya (luck), and a person not blessed with good health does not enjoy to any extent their granted term of life.
What is the traditional astrology of death?
The eighth house, traditionally associated with death and transformation, is where planets like Mars or Saturn can indicate challenges related to mortality. This house is also associated with rebirth and resources. Traditional astrologers in Hellenistic astrology often used this house to predict the potential time of death, but it is important to approach it with caution and ethics in the modern context.
It is not generally advised to make definitive predictions about death, but rather to explore potential challenges and transformations in a person’s life journey. Astrology should not be used to predict one’s own death unless the situation calls for it, such as when a person is near the final stages of their life due to natural reasons or terminal illness.

Its negative expression is an obsessive desire for power and control, while its positive expression is the ability to transform. The position of Pluto in a chart is shared among generations due to its slow movement. Its house represents areas where individuals seek truths and deeper meaning, which may be associated with change, upheaval, power struggles, and control issues.

The location of Pluto in a chart indicates where we seek change and transformation, or may face it if we refuse to accept our deepest needs. Fearing Pluto’s energy can lead to destructiveness towards ourselves or others.
📹 Neptune, Pluto and the life and death of Uncle Harry
I look at the horoscope of my Great Uncle Harry, who was killed in the First World War in May 1915. I consider the question of …
Not at all indulgent. This is the content we tune in for, Archie. I’d rather hear about your Great Uncle any day, in preference to Meghan Markle. My Great Uncle died in WW2. It is so interesting to read about their lives. It being more recent there is a web site devoted to the incident he was killed in, where two boats were torpedoed off the coast of Morocco, returning from refitting the boats for a few months in South Africa. My Great Uncle was a “joiner” on the ship HMS Hecla, named after an Icelandic volcano. Ships joiners tend to be metal workers, so I read, which is weird but there you go. So he had spent his war well away from the action up to that point, safely tucked away in South Africa. Unfortunately as they took the boats back up to the Med, they were attacked. A lot of men died although I don’t think it was reported accurately at the time, as to how many died. My Gran adored her brother so as you can imagine this was very hard for all the family, including his young widow, my Great Aunt Win. It was nice they kept her in the loop for the rest of her life, she was always invited to family events. War is a plague on mankind. I’m glad I’ve matured enough to research and read on this type of topic which I would have found far too dry in my youth.
