I think its also possible that Naruto became so strong between Naruto and Boruto that while his chakra and Kurama’s were equal, Naruto ‘s overall strength and chakra control on his own far surpassed what just Kurama is capable of, making losing Kurama and half of his chakra really not that big of a setback. I’m really hoping that Kurama makes a come back by the end of Boruto, probably would have to involve Naruto becoming the new ten tails jinchuriki then splitting the tailed beasts again, or maybe that would spawn an entire different set of tailed beasts considering the other beasts are still roaming free. Either that or I can see the new ten tails getting split giving the other tailed beasts a power up as well as reviving Kurama, but that would be too much wishful thinking wouldn’t it?

Naruto’s body is frozen, but not his mind. There are numerous instances in Naruto where battles and conversations take place mentally. For example, the Kurama Naruto chakra battle, nearly all of Sasuke vs. Naruto fights where they communicate mentally, Obito’s chakra fight, etc. This implies that Naruto could potentially train mentally and improve his skills. Alternatively, similar to the Monkey King movie (Jet Li), his clone could remain active in the real world, secretly gathering chakra. The moment Naruto is freed, he would have an abundance of powerful nature chakra at his disposal. In either scenario, when Naruto returns, he’s likely to be significantly more powerful and leveled up. I totally agree with the nature energy. But I think I’ll take it a step further. Naruto, in the last parts of the war arc became a pseudo jinchuriki of all 9 tailed beasts and he was made a gathering place for all of them. Even after the start of Boruto, he was known to have returned to that place multiple times. One thing to note though: since Kurama died, he’s supposed to reincarnate in the world once again like the other tailed beasts being pure chakra. So wouldn’t it be fair to say that Kurama could reincarnate back in the space where all tailed beasts gather? Plus, there has been so much of Kuramas chakra scattered all over the world and now that he’s dead, it’s probably safe to assume that he’s gonna reincarnate with almost all of his original chakra once more. Timeless does not imply a lack of consciousness. He is probably learning. Narutos weaknesses were never what his body could do but rather his mind. He also is probably bringing his sage mode to a higher level than before. Also, kuramas Chakra is probably returning to him. If there is even just a little bit left in the world that was not in Naruto(like in burrito), then Kurama can reform and since we know Kurama can gather chakra in theory he can be just as strong as he was before.
The 10 Tails didnt disappear, it underwent mitosis. Each of the Shinju is the 10 tails going thru mitosis but due to Code’s tampering the split due to the mitosis phase didn’t create exact copies but varying copies due to resonance of chakra from the clawgrime treefolk(treefolk has a nice ring to it)
I think you’ve misread the chapter. In the official release of the chapter, the leader shinju says “we are already a divine tree…(new voice bubble)…and are evolving differently than usual”. At least to me, that doesn’t suggest naruto is the one evolving/getting stronger. Not that that can’t happen but the evidence isn’t there yet
I think that perhaps as naruto is sitting in the other dimension as he does have sage of six paths Chakra and is at least part otsutski. That he may mentally be awake and has been training his body to move in the timeless dimension. So when he comes out of it his body would be used to moving so fast as he was moving and training without time his speed and strength will be 100× more. Just going full rock Lee with it. You don’t need Chakra boosted speed if you’re just that fast.
I do think it isn’t absurd to think that kishimoto has a reason for making Naruto the target of Jura and that could be that Naruto is going to get buffed to face him down, but I honestly feel that they are doing this as a way to set up a show down between the Jigen Shinju and Kawaki. It’s a chance for Kawaki to defeat the one he feared in his strongest form and push past that while also being what stood between Jura and Naruto. here’s a theory loosely based on what I remember about how things work. Shibi is in the Dikokuten(?) and that is who is giving Naruto power, not Isshiki. a plot twist that will be revealed is that Isshiki and Kaguya came to earth to betray Shibi and feed him to the ten tails and Isshiki somehow trapped him in the Dikotuen. Shibi will be revealed as someone who was a good guy and wanted to flee the way of his people and find power that way. and now he will help Naruto get his lick back. (I think it would be cool if they took this opportunity to make Kaguya a sympathetic figure who wanted to do right but eventually was driven to do what she did. Maybe Kaguya didn’t almost kill Isshiki alone and had the help of shibi. Maybe they have a relationship like Romeo and Juliet)

I don’t fully understand where you get the idea that they are saying Naruto is getting stronger. When Jura says he wants to go after Naruto and the Bug Shinju asks why him, it seemed to me he was saying, “You’re right, he’s not Ohtsutsuki. But we ourselves as a divine tree are evolving in an abnormal manner, and I want to look into and act on this new instinct rather than the usual objective.” Which, if he is indeed Jigen/Isshiki’s Shinju, it makes sense he’d have feelings that make him want to target Naruto because Naruto was the one who killed Isshiki.
People don’t like boruto because it backseats and nerfs the characters they love, and because the villains are ridiculous and not compelling. Has just become a silly alien fest that doesn’t appeal the same way naruto’s villains did. The Akatsuki, madara, obito, pain etc were all believable and compelling villains.

The official translation have him say “However, we are already a divine tree… and are evolving differently than usual.” and the fan translation had him say “But we are already a ‘shinju’. And is evolving in a different way.” Neither of these statements imply anything about Naruto getting a powerup. If anything, this statement is implying that the shinju are evolving in a way such that their desires and instincts are changing from just eating Otsutsuki (Boruto and/or Kawaki).
Another possibilty that could also work in conjection with the other theories is that naruto off screen has been learning other forms of sage mode, after all if snake and toad nature energy causes different reactions, that means there are different sage mode “elements” just like there are with chakra, including that naruto has had the full 6th paths sage thingy hogoromo gave him, it is possible that the experience gave him that idea
I still think that Naruto is going to remake kurama. One of the reasons is that ( it doesn’t make any sense but let it sink in for a bit) hagoromo has an ability called creation of all things, and he had a son named ashura which Naruto is the reincarnation of so he could maybe use it to create kurama.
Love the theory behind all of this. The one thing that I hate about my own brain while I listen to this is the language behind “timelessness” in the timeless dimension. I’m sure the langue makes perfect sense in story mode. But as someone who has dealt with a lot of philosophy of time and theology, I would take issue with anybody benefiting from their “duration” inside of a “timeless” dimension.

I had grown to love Kurama as a character, so I was insulted that this character that played such a critical role in why I loved this world, decided to kill himself for a cause lesser than the one Might Guy wasn’t allowed to die for. He’s a boring copy of his dad without ANY of the pathos that made his dad interesting as a child. He’s the Mako to Naruto’s Prince Zuko. Theory #4 just brainstorming. 1. Naruto definitely has some chakra left over from kurama just lingering around 2. Tailed beasts reincarnate over time by their chakra building back up into the full form of said tailed beast 3. Kurama chakra has been building for 3 years in a timeless dimension with Naruto right there possibly also bringing in nature chakra which could accelerate the timeline of reincarnation

Yea, I think your translation is wrong. The leader when asked by Bug, why Naruto, since he’s not an otususki, he said that were already God trees, so they are evolving differently, with different instincts. Based off of their new identity, they have newly evolving instincts which makes them not only want to pursue otususkis, but what their specific identities want them to do.
Maybe the nature energy is being pulled in but is getting “stuck” before reaching Naruto. Like he is actively pulling in the energy but once it reaches the Daikokuten(?) What if all the chakra that naruto lost from kuramas death and baryon mode left a “void” (kinda like if you take a big jug and dip it in a pot of water the empty space where the water used to be in that pot remains waiting to be filled with something else) that can be filled by nature chakra, and the time naruto has spent in the other dimension has slowly and safely been filling that void?
I kind of don’t want Naruto to make a comeback. HANDS DOWN one of my favorite characters in anime history (have several tattoos of him at different stages of the story) but his story is complete and it should stay that way. Like having him comeback at the end of the story to have a touchy moment with Boruto, seeing how much the world and all the fighting has changed and traumatized him, and then going on to help him heal while finally being able to bring the era of piece he fought to achieve for the majority of his life would be the best possible ending for Naruto imo. Will this happen? No because he’s almost as marketable as Pikachu so there is practically zero chance they don’t give him something to drum up a ton of hype. He will probably come out of the Daikokuten and reach almost literal godhood so he can mushroom stamp whatever big bad is around at the time.
I just thought that Naruto became a better sage because of the wisdom of old age. He’s clearly not as brash as he used to be when he was younger. Or that he still trained his sage mode regardless of having Kurama. Perhaps even to try and teach his children one day since they don’t have the Tailed Beast option (at least for now).

I was thinking since I’m boruto is a lack of transformations like kcm and susano maybe with the sage chakra he is healing himself, like cell from DragonBall his body is use to the 6 path mode chakra naruto is gaining all his previous powers to baryon level taking away the need to transform or rely on a second form of power and to get stronger he can enter sage mode. Like sasuke getting his arm and eye back it could also be that it will officially be sasuke 6 tamoe rennigan that he can turn off. But I know this is a long shot but it’s how I see shonen going this waves were in my hero and jjk don’t have physical transformations or at least very little.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, there’s no reason to assume that Naruto can’t just regenerate the chakra that was used up during Baryon mode. All that’s said about him in that and the following manga chapters is that Kurama is gone and that’s what makes him weaker. There is nothing in the manga that suggests he has actually lost that chakra forever. Yes, it is said that they collide their chakra to create a new form of energy but without being explicitly told, we can assume that the chakra is used up and can be regenerated as usual since it doesn’t really matter what happens fo the chakra once you use it, be it throwing a fireball or colliding it into another beings chakra.
So in the official Viz translation, the leader Shinju definitely says that about themselves, not Naruto. “We are already a Divine Tree and are evolving differently than usual. The joker said you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain. Sasuke is already a clawgrime or a shinju. Naruto as a bad guy would be crazy. I already had this in mind for jjk with gojo coming back but evil and more awakened. He’ll also have a new attack called black and it’ll just erase everything like a haki no healing or fixing anything.

One correction concerning the wood constructs…what about Guruguru or Tobi or whatever you want to call the white Zetsu that Obito used to kill the ninja when he failed to save Rin and which took Yamato as a Wood release battery? He/It did used animated construct with all five chakra natures and as far as we are aware, he/it is not a sage, nor is Yamato. Yes, both had Hashirama cells in them, but to be honest, Hashirama ex machina is getting very boring. Also Yamato was previously used to power up the whole white Zetsu army and none of them exhibited anything that could be called sage jutsu or mode. Btw I believe it was said that White Zetsu is actually made of Hashirama cells, but it is weird as they were created during Kaguya’s time, if I remember correctly. In conclusion, we have a new theory on our hands. Hashirama was a disguised white Zetsu that was somehow special 😀. The downside of this theory is that Madara claimed the white Zetsu were created via the mindless clone of Hashirama and the whole Ashura reincarnation stuff. Also back to the theory of Naruto absorbing the nature energy does not make sense at all. We know what happens when you absorb too much nature energy and fail to balance it with your chakra. Unless Naruto’s chakra is also growing in the Daikokuten, which would also need some kind of an explanation why, it would be impossible to to just absorb the nature energy as he would turn into a stone frog. Also apart from the gathering nature energy, I don’t think that Naruto had the ability to absorb chakra itself.
Naruto will once again become the main character, and he will do so by becoming a “super sage”—in addition, Naruto will gain his hand back and then free Sasuke which will also gain back his eye and hand. Both Sasuke and Naruto are the Goku and Vegeta of the Naruto universe, so both will become massively stronger in the future to come.

Think about it with a chakra clone that Naruto can make that exists inside of Naruto filling the gap of kurama. As a chakra clone it can sit still and pull in nature energy and give it to the real Naruto passively
Honestly i feel like the best way to bring them back is like powerhouses that are not main to the storyline, think, nanatsu no taizai secuel, the four knights of the apocalypse, recently we’ve seen thet the sins (at least bam) are still power houses, but have a secondary role, cause the four knights are even stronger that powerhouses, and i feel thats extreamly better, dont know what or how they would powerup to at lest take care of “minor” threats (like code now, takes a secondary role after the shinshu appeard) and let the new gen (boruto, sarada, kawaki, new team 8 etc) go against the big bad guys maybe with old gen as support
Could there be a chance that Naruto in the time between end of shippiden and prior to Boruto studies other sage modes? It could be interesting if he was able to go to Ryuchi cave with the location revealed as part of why orochimaru is still allowed, and with the added abilities of a new sage mode it could possibly compound his sage abilities
Naruto is friends with Sakura and Granny Tsunade. It’s not unreasonable to believe that he has a basic idea of how their Strength of a Hundred Seal works. He could possibly figure out his own version to store his or nature chakra during down time to supplement the loss of Kurama. It doesn’t solve the loss of Kurama, but it could replace much of his missing chakra pool.
Some major assumptions here. It’s entirely possible people don’t like the characters or their development. Its completely alright to love the original story and dislike the new one. I have read the manga to current and watched a little of the show and I don’t personally enjoy the direction the author has taken the story. Its not simply Boruto < Naruto or > Naruto it’s simply not a story I enjoy. Naruto for the most part was amazing to me. This story failed to capture my attention and waiting until the “current arch” which you state is a long haul to get to isn’t best use of my time. No disrespect just a different opinion.
The official translations state that it’s the Shinju that are evolving, not Naruto. Though I won’t rule out the possibility that Naruto and Sasuke will somehow get strong enough to become relevant again, without overshadowing the next generation. But, it probably won’t be confirmed or debunked until much later in the Manga.
I dont see anything in the chapter stating NARUTO is undergoing any change at all. I think you may have misread what the leader shinju said, he said the “WE are already a divine tree… and are evolving differently than usual” nothing is actually ever stated about naruto except that the leader shinju wants to devour him. Naruto is going to be untouched when he comes out of sealing.
The one part that got was saying that naruto is asborbing nature charka but in a timeless void created by issiki. So with all that i dont believe naruto is asborbing nature charka but asborbing in issiki’s charka which would make a different kind of evolution that could be needed to eventually take on shiba. Eventually boruto is going his own family down the line and so the only one whose going to make that sacrifice would be naruto in a new entirely mode that saves everybody.
My main issue is how senjutsu has so little users. It just makes no sense. There are plenty of people with large chakra pools that know the shadow clone jutsu that should be able to train in senjutsu. Naruto had TRASH chakra control, even when he learned senjutsu, but got better at it because of shadow clones. If someone as seemingly untalented and dense as naruto could learn how to do it, there should be way more people that can. I still think that Rock Lee of all people should’ve learned, since he’s actually considered a genius, and, despite what a lot of people think, can still control chakra, just cant use ninjutsu (sage mode’s enhanced physical and sensory abilities would be perfect for Lee and make him actually busted).
Would it be possible that Naruto learned how to combine sage mode and baryon mode? Like somehow fusing the nature chakra and his own chakra to make a “baryon sage”? If he already knows how to apply the concept of fusing chakra from the one time he entered baryon mode, then I don’t see why he couldn’t do it with other chakras besides kurama’s?
I just realized if Naruto activate the seventh gate he would be like more stronger than the eight tails because he only uses 20% of his chakra normally but if you activate the 7th gate it would almost be like he got all his chakra back and we already know he has more chakra then the other tailed beast so he’d be like the nine tails just a theory
Im a huge Naruto fan and i think Boruto manga’s is an insult to the IP. Here are valid reasons: 1) Vilains are weak as hell in therm of characterization. Momoshiki-Isshiki had charisma but they both had the same end goal, wich goes back to have the same goal as madara n kaguya in the war arc, create that divine tree. Code is just an otsusuki simp out for revenge. 2) It’s all about power creep with no care at all for the story. Boruto got good moments but it’s buried into slice of life moments EVEN IN THE DAMN MANGA. 3) As even more characters then Naruto and Naruto shippuden, yet everyone is under used AGAIN. Let’s be real, this is the Kawaki and Boruto manga. Naruto-sasuke played small roles but outside of cameos, what are the other supporting characters doing? Hell mangawise shikadai-inojin-chocho may have appeared for what 4 chapters out of 85 and you can’t say they changed. 4) Hacks are always more ridiculous. Look at eida. PS no vilain come close to pain. Kawaki is the best but yet, hes just another extremist like what sasuke used to be when he wanted to delete the kage’s after the war. Kawaki is good but hes not as good as pain or even Obito for the matter. Boruto is a bad sequel.
I never understood the concept of Boruto. It doesn’t make sense that Naruto and Sasuke, two of the most powerful characters to ever exist in the verse, would be sidelined in what is essentially their prime years when they should be at absolute peak. I could see old man Naruto and Sasuke having to step aside for a new generation, but this seemed too soon.
I havent watched boruto since Mitsuki’s dollar store retrieval arc episode and surely havent read it. I wont pretend to know if its been covered or not, but the whole time does not flow in the Daikokuten thing can also not be taken as literally as stated. It could just mean that Naruto is unable to age or degrade while inside of it, not that he is completely unable to change at all. Which opens the possibility more that yes, hes stocking chakra of at least some kind but isnt able to immediately utilize it since theres such a massive gap to fill and its taking time and all of his being to do so. Or its been covered and no one fucking knows how he’ll get another gigachad mode lol.
Since Naruto no longer has Kurama,and has a Hashirama cell arm. Could possibly be pulling in Nature Energy. My money is on Naruto coming back with a Wood Style Fox same way how Hashirama had his golem. No he was never a perfect sage. His connection with Kurama always stopped him from pulling his chakra equivalent because he always had to make a 3 way split with Kurama’s chakra, nature chakra, and his own chakra. That’s the reason he got lazy and had Kurama learn senjutsu. Now he can completely use the space Kurama left to complete true sage transformation without Kurama. His time using sage mode has increased significantly since losing Kurama.
I just can’t get into Boruto. I have the opinion that is has gone on too long. It should’ve ended with Naruto. It’s long, and Boruto is just a boring character from my initial impression. I might get into it, but it won’t change the fact that it should’ve ended, and doesn’t measure up to Naruto (in my opinion.)
That’s why a sequel is (and usually will be) a terrible idea because boruto is about otsotsuki as MC and villains are otsotsuki which made everyone irrelevant While naruto and sasuke were much stronger than other characters it happened later in the story and for 70% of the story a lot of characters were relative to them and didn’t reach their peak which made most of the cast irrelevant until the While boruto and kawaki reached it before the time skip which is absurd and will prevent further contributions from supporting cast like sarada awakening MS and still kinda irrelevant While legends like itachi madara and obito were broken because they had MS so it’s not just about naruto and sasuke being weak it’s just if they’re weak the rest of the shinobi world don’t even matter
@NCHammer23 Allow me to be a counter-example as someone who enjoyed Naruto (manga) and hated Baruto (manga). I’ve tried to get into it several times and I don’t necessarily hate it because it doesn’t have Naruto in it. There are other manga series that did the “Next Generation” bit and didn’t have the main characters featured much at all. “Fruits Basket Another,” for example, doesn’t have any of the main characters in it other that vague mentions, but I loved that series (and wish it wasn’t nearly as short as it was.) No, the reason why I disliked Baruto the manga is because I hold nothing but disdain for Baruto the character. He came off as a spoiled brat who is an elite and has no appreciation for what he has. He’s just not likable at all! Also, I hate that it reduced most of the female cast from Naruto into glorified housewives despite the talent and power that they had. Honestly, what is Hinata’s position in the Hyuga? Is she even really part of that clan anymore? I feel that you are way overselling Baruto. It’s not even close to being as good as Naruto, in my view.
You definitely misread that manga panel. He was referring to the Shinju evolving not Naruto. While i appreciate your desire to stick with the first time you stated it, its definitely not what he said. Not to say the outcome won’t be as you said with Naruto coming out stronger. Personally im a big fan of that part of the theory.
Naruto is 100% going to be useless until the very end, anyone who believes otherwise is just deceiving themselves. Even IF Naruto gets a power up (he won’t)… the best thing can he ever hope for is to die saving Boruto so Boruto can again be better than him and save the day. I’m not even wondering if this is a good or bad thing overall… it is just the truth. And honestly I doubt they will even have that much importance….they’ll just keep them alive so old fans will sticky to hope.
The main reason I still refuse to read the Boroto manga is that I’m tired of all these bs visual powers and dimensions. We’ve had enough of that in the 4th Great Ninja War. I wish We got some prequel manga about the previous wars when things were much simpler, and the story was actually about Shinobi doing ninja stuff instead of this crazy alien powers. That would’ve been interesting and way better.
What if due Baryon mode due to crashing their chakra together technically fused some of that chakra into naruto. This is important cause tailed beasts can be killed and their chakra dissapates till it comes back reforming them. We know energy cant truly be destroyed so maybe the 9 tails chakra is returning to him due the strange nature of kuramas death and mixing with the leftover other tailed beasts turning naruto into a 10 tails or something like that ie he becomes a human tailed beasts naturally somehow. Be pretty funny and having a bit of kuramas chakra inside of him after death infused due to the whole fission thing 1 left him with more room for nature chakra and since tailed beasts are actually masses of ten tails chakra made him immune to the dangers of nature chakra
Nick, you need to remember Naruto is part Otsutsutsuki because he is Ashura’s reincarnation and because of that he is partially hagoromo’s son which would mean without the ten tails the daikokuten or ishikki’s chakra he could still become the sage of six paths if he practiced sage mode long enough. Ishikki’s chakra and hashirama cells just gave him a better chance and with that he could also use every release and maybe become stronger than hagoromo but Boruto would still somehow end up being stronger because this is his series and he has plot armor and many still uknown abilities
Figure he will absorb energy from around him if its not nature energy it’ll be absorbed similarly or via some breakthrough, I do believe he will absorb whatever energy it has to offer and come out stronger as a result how strong? maybe otsutsuki levels but we don’t know, more of a wishful thought at this point but just maybe he will come out super strong in his “evolution”
It’s a stretch but hear me out Naruto is doing mental training in the meting place of the tailed beasts the small amount of each beast is helping him work on himself and perfect his sage mode with the heighten senses Naruto achieves he finds a scape of kumaras chakra all the tailed beasts and Naruto work together to mold this chakra into a baby 9 tails and use it to make Naruto the holder of a weakened 10 tails that he has to keep feeding chakra to improve and grow it (giving power creep to stay relevant in the story) and a sage of 6 paths level unity

But i dont dislike Boruto becoouse its not about Naruto, but becouse it completle spits on everything naruto estableshd, like the technology levels or that ninjustsu is useles now, or that theese kids ar so strong with powers that are just given to them or Sarada’s outfit, thins lik that, that gives the feeling that its a completly diferent univers thats using the Naruto name for marketing.
Also, is it at all possible that by losing half his chakra, as well as Kurama’s, left him with a more or less chakra void in him, which since the loss he has been filling with nature energy? He hasn’t really had time since the loss to really sit still and try to fill it, which is why he still needed his clones to pull in the energy. But now, sitting still for as long as he has, maybe it is full? My whole line of thinking on this is similar to the strength of 100 seal, just with nature chakra instead of one’s own chakra. This pool would probably be larger than any other sage has pulled in, at least while they were alive, which would probably be a huge power spike for him. Not sure what it’d look like, but it’d absolutely be something to see.

the only part I dont get with the Shinju leader being Jigen, the whole chakra impression thing. Jigen took chakra FROM the 10 tails, not the other way around right? So how would it be able to copy Jigens chakra? Unless their was some sort of a chakra backwash situation, which ew, but like I could understand that. I understand it could copy Jigens appearance from him going to it so much, but I just dont understand how it could make an impression of his chakra without ever RECEIVING or ABSORBING Jigens chakra. Which I dont remember it ever doing so? Like during the zetsu impersonator arc, in the middle of the war arc of shippuden, zetsu had to absorb other peoples chakra to make that impression and disguise as them.
If the dimension Naruto is trapped in is timeless, then by DEFINITION he can’t passively receive chakra/energy. For that requires space/time to travel from without Naruto to within Naruto. Rather than timeless, it appears that Naruto is in a dimension in which space/time has stopped. Which, still has the same result.
They been doing my boy Naruto dirty since Boruto started. Not only taking away his powerful abilities (I know that’s what Kishi wanted, but still sucks) and then making him need some weird but cool powerup to fight someone. Just my two cents. I know it’s not his story anymore, but it just feels like him and Sasuke got shafted big time. I’m also someone who recently caught up to the Boruto manga and it’s actually really good. Much better than the anime, my older sons are in agreeance with that, too. I have my grips with what Kishi and his team have done with Naruto and Sasuke, but that’s not really that big of a deal.

i always thought that a Naruto chakra would mutate or evolve sins its been exposed to so many different powers and its adapted to those powers and over time his chakra might change to become a higher form of chakra E.G Chakra>Demi-God Chakra he just needed a trigger the trigger being the loss of Karama and the power he relied on the most becoming useless.
if Naruto gets to be the strongest or second strongest or at least back to what he originally was, i dont really care how much he is involved in the story, just dont use 10000 years of ur life building up narutos and sasukes power to just tear it all down in boruto. i get they arent the main characters and they shouldnt be, but making them look like middle schoolers in terms of power just to propel the “new generation is stronger” narrative is just absurd to me.
I think the translation is wrong Nick, but I believe the theory will hold weight. I don’t think Kishimoto is gonna reveal something this big so early on in the series, but there’s definitely a reason Naruto and Sasuke are still hanging around in comatose states and it surely isn’t so they both awaken just in time for Boruto and Sarada’s wedding.
I mean this IS a shonen so, honestly all 3 of those things could happen at once or nearly. There is nothing that says, Naruto couldn’t be both honing his sage jutsu and pulling in otsusuki chakara, this would make him an even more ideal candidate for 10 tails jinchurik-hood as he would now again have the chakara offsets required to balance out the 10 tailes power.

Just like how the ten tails absorbs all the chakra on the planet the same way Naruto will be able to absorb all the nature energy from the entire planet and become some sort of sage God able to rival the otsutsuki. Maybe he’s even absorbing nature energy somehow while being sealed away because he’s staying perfectly still the entire time.
Now, I haven’t followed Baruto at all, but is it possible that Naruto left some of his clones kicking around, and that clone has done some kind of training? Maybe it kept itself hidden partially because it was massively weakened, partially because it suddenly was a shadow clone that absolutely could NOT let itself dissipate since it was the last copy of Naruto that wasn’t contained? IDK, Naruto saving himself (or helping someone else save him) via Shadow Clones, the very first Jutsu that he ever truly mastered, has a fun full-circle vibe to it, and it would let him do some or all of the stuff you mentioned here more actively. Hell, if sage mode chakra can fully breathe life into wood, it could even be that Naruto has mastered that and has some wood clones kicking around as more permanent if less easily accessed nature chakra reserves, and that’s what he meant when he said he’s a much better sage, and he just didn’t really use them in the last fight because he was so shocked.
The comparison between stone and wood doesn’t make sense with your theory. Wood is alive. Stone isn’t. Trees aren’t inanimate objects. They grow. So unless kishimoto specifically said something, this part of the theory is a stretch. This isn’t to say that he used what he learned from the cave to hone or improve his wood style, as I would guess nature energy and it would probably blend well.
I always like some of Nicks crazier theory’s but I feel like this one was clearly made almost imeaditly after he read the fan/google translations but before the offical release on Viz Media. In his last article talked about “Nartuo Evolving” but after the offical VIz Release, which he has in this article, the part Nick if Referencing Jura says “However we are already a divine tree… and are evolving differently than usual.” Other than the possibility of interperting what the Japanese Kanji means differently, this statement by Jura clearly is refering to himself and the other Shinju. Despite the speech bubbles being separated, the two of them form one sentence, meaning we can look at what the subject was for the first speech bubble to know what he was refering to when Jura said “evolving differently.” The subject being “We” when he’s talking to the other Shinju, and calls all of them Divine Trees, (Naruto’s also not a divivne tree,) which to me is enough proof that he’s not refering to Naruto, and not saying that he is getting stronger. That being said, I do hope that naruto and sasuke will get stronger once freed, just I don’t think they are currently getting stronger as is.
I’ll say this, my push back with Boruto is the fact that we haven’t gotten to witness anything Naruto has done as hokage, he’s got no feats to go with all that power he had. Not even new jutsus or something like that…..He and Sasuke should have been developing over time as well. I mean at least let Naruto master sage mode so well he can do the 1,000 hand veritable canon statue!!
Naruto’s chakra had to match Kurama, Sage mode grows your chakra pool. Remember by the Ninetails fight with Sage mode Naruto was equal too Kurama. BASICALLY Naruto can still hold on to a Baryonmode amount of chakra. Naruto is a husk for Senjutsu at max volume THATS Otsutsuki lvl alone Naruto is otsutsuki lvl regardless with Mastered Sage mode activated All absorbed Naruto Will Be the Ultimate Wind Sage Mode User For taijutsu Maybe use Wind Sage Cloak honestly he should be able to fly or use Swift Release
as a Naruto only watcher the reason I won’t watch Boruto is twofold – #1 The story was finished with Naruto, everything after reeks of Dragonball GT, and #2 Ōtsutsuki are boring/dumb villains and I’m not interested in them in the slightest. I’ll still continue perusal your articles of course, which as far as I’m concerned are far more interesting than the show could ever be.
