Mark David Chapman, an American man, was responsible for the murder of English musician John Lennon in New York City on December 8, 1980. Chapman, who fired five shots at Lennon as he entered his apartment building, was obsessed with Lennon but became increasingly incensed by his lifestyle and public image. The murder has also been the subject of conspiracy theories, including a CIA plot to stop Lennon.
John Lennon, who was killed nearly 20 years later, has attracted several of his own, which is especially surprising given Chapman, who shot him five times in the back. In 1971, shortly after Lennon went to New York on a visa and met with radical anti-war activists, the FBI put Lennon under surveillance. The Immigration and Naturalization Service tried to stop Lennon.
The elusive motives behind Chapman’s fatal shooting of Lennon are now finally being explained in a boundary-breaking Apple TV+ docuseries, “John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial”. The documentary provides an untold truth behind the tragic event, thanks to incredible archive footage.
Lennon had grown weary of being famous and the title of being a “Beatle” hung around his neck like an albatross. The untold truth behind the tragedy is now being explained in a boundary-breaking Apple TV+ docuseries, “John Lennon: Murder Without a Trial”. The CIA joined the FBI in gathering intelligence on slain ex-Beatle John Lennon, fearing it would disrupt the 1972 Republican convention.
In conclusion, Mark David Chapman’s murder of John Lennon serves as a significant case that has been the subject of numerous conspiracy theories and investigations.

There may have been more to John’s murder then anyone of us will ever know John making a will out one year before his death Yoko walking way ahead of John as they left the limo that night Strange to me And other things also It is sad what happened to John. Always a bumpy ride his whole life, even in his death A lot of joy and sorrow in John’s life R.I.P. John Lennon ❤️🙏🏻❤️
The govt. will always use the LONE GUNMAN THEORY, Crazed loner out to kill someone famous. Mark David Chapman was a Monarch trained young man. Mark Chapman had a wife that loved him and wanted him in her life. The CIA programming operation against Chapman was not allowed to fail. That’s why they got Chapman away from his wife and after they spent the money and time to use him as an assassin. John Lennon was more than popular, musically, he was a major force for peace IN THE FACE OF AN ON GOING CIA/RAND/TAVISTOCK program to train new soldier warriors in the cold war. 1980’s young men were more detached from the anti-war effort of the 60’s. Brain-washing takes place even during College experiences and military training. John Lennon was too much of a force for peace, and anti war. THEY, murder John.
From my own research, when I looked into Chapman and the Lennon murder over 30 years ago, several interesting facts came to light. The facts sound like a movie script, however, I can’t make this stuff up. The C.I.A. recruited Chapman at the refugee rescue organization in Ft. Chaffee, AR. where he worked as a volunteer. This refugee rescue camp was run by the christian charity group known as World Vision. The C.I.A. was using the guise of christian charity to recruit people with nothing to lose in this camp and brain-washing them about their future targets by programming murderous attitudes into their subconscience. A man by the name of JOHN WARNOCK HINKLEY, SR., was on the Board Of Directors at World Vision. Hinkley, Sr. was a long-time friend of GEORGE H. W. BUSH. Bush funded the assassins training camp at Ft. Chaffee. And you should be able to figure out the Ronald Reagan part by now…..Just for the record, NONE of the bullets fired by Hinkley, Jr. ever hit Reagan…..Reagan was shot from behind with a stealth air-powered projectile that was specifically developed for the intelligence agencies…….confirmed.
John Lennon had the power to influence millions. After his little show biz’ break, his music not only came back with a new infusion of energy, so too did his anti war/peace philpspohy which would have caused many alarm bells to ring again for Reagan and Bush and the atrocites they were about commit, especially in Central America. Chapman was a very strange individual. He had completed voluntary work in Asia with a group called ‘World Vision’ ran by John Hinkley’s father. Further, Hinklley himself also voluntered there. It turns out this was a CIA front for other, more shady and not fully understood activities. I belive Chapman was indeed progrmammed (much like Sirhan Sirhan was) with the Catcher in the Rye clearly some form of trigger. The doorman outside The Dakota was not the usual person. Indeed he had links to CIA anti Castro Cuban exciles and the Bay of Pigs, the ‘murder inc’ ‘ of the Carabean that also was more than likely morphed into JFK assassination. Very interesting stuff indeed. You just have to have an open mind and think for yourself. RIP.John Lennon.
After this I was fed a article called “News footage right after John Lennon Shot” by “Vampire Robot”. In one excerpt a police chief is asked about talk of a second suspect and whether there is anything to it @2:55. So I’m wondering where that question came from. Police chief, under some pressure, just says “I don’t know”.
Sorry, not convinced. Not even impressed. Yoko was several feet ahead, actually in the glass vestibule area, out of sight. Lennon was behind, maybe 30 feet. He stepped out of his limousine, after he got in the arched entrance, he was shot four times, five bullets fired, one missed. The four bullet wounds were a tight grouping in the upper left shoulder, from behind. He staggered up a few steps and collapsed inside the glass vestibule. The NYPD took him to Roosevelt Hospital in the back of a squad car. The odd things about Chapman, from what I have studied, mainly from Fenton Bresler, involve the exact number of times Chapman visited NYC, and whether Chapman stopped in Chicago for a few days before his final trip to New York. That particular detail has never been clarified.
Here is a guy who is using this incident to make a name for himself. Everything he states is speculation with no real evidence as he manipulates people’s memories after almost 40 years. He concocts an elaborate scenario where Chapman is firing blanks at Lennon while at least one or two shooters actually shoot him. Other shooters that no eyewitness sees. Geez give it a rest.
Shoot a pig multiple times from the same distance Lennon was shot. Present the nurses with the carcass and have them determine which are the exit wounds. Give them a limited time, as if they were working under stressful situation. I am doubtful that they will have 100% accuracy. Furthermore, even if Lennon had entry wounds in the chest, it would only prove that he possibly turned around on Chapman before he finally collapsed.
But there is no doubt that John Lennon was shot with the .38 caliber revolver found at the scene, and that Chapman had gunshot residue all over him that matched the aforesaid revolver. Whether or not Chapman was a loon or an assassin is a separate issue, but there’s no doubt that he pulled the trigger based on the evidence.
When they re-released the ‘One day at a Time’ Lennon book, shortly after the assassination, circa 1981, John is described as being killed by a ‘sniper’ on the blurb on the jacket. Always thought this was a stupid/amusing/odd way of describing the killing, but after perusal this, maybe scepticism about the official account was floating around at the time.
Manchurian candidate, possibilities of a second shooter. Where theres a person caught, people stop asking further questions because, according to public, case closed… remember, Lennon was public enemy #1 at some point… cant rule out he was an intended political target… Lennon Lives Forever ✌️ ☮️ ❤
Chapman had taken shooting lessons, admitted with his own words that he saw Lennon as a fraud,, he had read catcher in the Rye and saw himself as the personification of the central character, and decided to shoot Lennon. How would the CIA/FBI know that such a candidate existed, and would be open to manipulation to push him over the edge?
I am Davie a RAMC veteran and remember how the IRA /INLA praised John Lennon for his song Bloody Sunday and thought John was a pro sympathetic supporter of their civil terrorist tactics ? Sometime In New York City album was the final straw that made the British establishment decide John was out of control and along with A little help from their friends in the USA John was a target for elimination, We must remember the USA wanted to evict john and the UK government did not want him back in UK after referring the establishment as “Anglo Pigs” John won his court battles to remain in the States and the usual suspects planned the hit, If you had the luck of the Irish you’d be sorry and wish you were dead I you had the luck of the Irish you’d wish you was English instead. R.I.P John
This is tin foil hat territory. Answer me this question if Chapman was innocent, as you claim, why would he plead guilty to a crime that carries with it a life sentences. Even though I am well aware that a lot of innocent people plead guilty or no contest, to aviod a trail, they don’t plead guilty to a crime that carries a life sentence. Those cases normally go to trial.
funny how lennon was killed but not yoko strange why didn’t chapman kill lennon on the meeting why did he wait once you killed john lennon then you might as well kill yoko i think yoko set this up she arranged for lennon to go with may pang, she stopped lennon from seeing his first son julian or speaking to his family then she had him cremated quickly
If there was second shooter, then why are there no witnesses to them? If a second shooter was that close to Lennon when he was shot … the doorman, Yoko, the chap who had taken the picture of Lennon signing Chapman’s album, would’ve all witnessed a second shooter. None of described a second shooter. It’s an interesting ’tilt’ to a very tragic event, but the event itself has been used to escalate a conspiracy. This is completely different to a JFK scenario.
In every interview I’ve seen of Dr. Halleran, he has maintained that the entrance wounds were in the chest and the exit wounds were in the back. I think the best explanation for this is that when Chapman called out “Mr. Lennon”, that John turned around and faced him. We only have Chapman’s testimony that John did not turn around. Are we going to listen to him
The main thing with this guy’s ‘original research’ is that it seems to replicate Fenton Bresler’s research published in the same decade as Lennon’s death. ‘Who Killed John Lennon?’ wasn’t a cash-in but very thoroughly done. It wasn’t a best-seller because the media had moved on. However it was a Bargain Book in the UK as it had been expected to sell well and had a lot of remainders in pound shops. I bought for a quid the same day in 1991 and in same shop as two other students. Among the other quid bargains were Apple Corps articles for Help! and Magical Mystery Tour. The Beatles were at lowest sales and airplay point ever soon to be rectified by more successful reissues and the Anthology TV series mid-90s. BRESLER HAD IT and talked to everybody at the time. That book was paperbacked under a new title still available. This is merely yet another 90s rebranding
Well whoever did it, they owe the world of music lovers an apology for what we all know is very poor work. Lazy, I say… I mean, Yoko was standing right there, there were plenty more bullets in the gun, and WTF??? Yoko is still destroying ears every time she does one of her screech monkey “performances.”
er, well with the the conspiracies coming true these days, something always seemed fishy about Lennon’s death. You only get shot randomly like that when there is a bigger conspiracy. Lennon biggest star in the world at the time, anti peace message, and he doesn’t seem like he could be controlled, so hmm..
“SEMITISM”, according to Webster’s and ALL of the other dictionaries, means you “Practice or believe in SHOWING JEWS FAVOR”… “SEMITIC” refers to ALL of the people of the area, Palestinians, Syrians and yes, isralies too… THEREFORE, “antisemitism” and “antisemitic” mean two COMPLETELY DIFFERENT things… I LOVE Palestinian people, I do NOT believe in showing ANYONE “favor”, ESPECIALLY anyone that believe they are BORN SUPERIOR to ME… that I and everyone else is “just Goyim”… That is the MOST SUPREMACIST set of beliefs in the world and I’m ALLOWED to THINK that way and CHOOSE to NOT support it!! The one thing I do KNOW, I’ve been BEGGING for someone of that “faith”/NATIONAL IDENTITY to come TALK to me and EXPLAIN to me what I’m “WRONG about”, EXPLAIN to me WHY we give israel (a “FIRST WORLD” country) 3.8 BILLION DOLLARS a year INSTEAD of using it to fund ANTI-PEDOPHILE groups or Veterans groups or Women’s Rights groups or a PLETHORA of other BETTER causes, EXPLAIN to me ANY of the stuff that is supposedly “non-existent” and EXPLAIN what other reasons people feel the way they do about israel? I am a PERSON OF COLOR, my grandfather was a CONCENTRATION CAMP SURVIVOR, so you CAN’T just write me off as “some dumb skinhead”, yet I NEVER have ANYBODY that believes my OPINION WORTHY enough to come TRY to “adjust” it. I’m just supposed to believe a bunch of stuff that DOESN’T MAKE SENSE (well, OTHER than “conspiracy”) because it makes people uncomfortable talking about it.. AND/OR, I’m RIGHT and people don’t LIKE that.
If there was a second shooter from the front then he must’ve been a real professional to be lurking & hiding in the dark driveway & not be seen by anyone & gotten away with it & set Chapman up??… yeah right?… I don’t believe that!, it was Chapman who shot John Lennon from the back at close range, enough to penetrate thru the chest at full speed & kill 1 of the most talented & admired human beings ever!!, Rest in peace John Lennon.🙏
I don’t know Yoko Ono (nor have anything against her) but I’d wager to say that in 1980, not too many people in the West would have been upset if the bullets fired by Chapman had missed Lennon and killed Ono instead. For some reason that’s rarely mentioned but it could very easily have happened that way, had someone moved in a way that Chapman didn’t expect, or if Chapman lost his footing or his aim was slightly off.
Lennon was almost an irrelevance in 1980; his main political activity having been years earlier, he had just released his first album in 5 years, which was critically panned. The reevaluation of that album as well as Lennon’s status at the time was a direct consequence of his murder, as the hagiographies began. So he seems a strange CIA target. Like all conspiracy theorists, the author focuses only on a famous case, which is a fundamental flaw. Were he to spend 3 years researching all the gunshot homicides in New York in 1980, I suspect that he would find inconsistent witness statements, unreliable witnesses, missing evidence, wrongly categorised evidence and a slew of admin errors etc to be par for the course. When the victim is Bob the builder from Brooklyn, the assumption is this largely results from slapdash policing. When the victim is John Lennon, it’s a second shooter and a CIA conspiracy. Now, if the author did compare the Lennon case to others, and found the holes in it to represent a genuine anomaly amongst homicide investigations of that period, that might be something. But that wouldn’t help the book sales, so why bother.
Who was this person ‘Jude’ that Chapman spoke of in the Larry King interview? He said he had lunch with this person, and so maybe there’s a window of opportunity for an unscheduled mind control programming. Did he see a movie shortly before the shooting? It was certainly done with the intent of killing him for sure. Do you think it could have been a previous intimate parner of John’s?
Mark Chapman stalked Lennon for 2 days shot Lennon 5 times and made John Lennon die at only the age of 40 John Lennon did not live long at all after that it went on to be one of the most important assanations of all time and so many people were sad he was one of the best singers in the world making peace
I’ve thought about this senseless act of evil and selfishness everyday since it happened. I was 25 then and now 67. I’m sick of hearing about this piece of y’all know what and having to see his face every time it pops up somewhere. I’ll try to be brief, because it’s too much for me tell. But it’s so wonderful what I found out only a week ago. There’s a new book out by Gregg Laurie entitled – Lennon – Dylan – Alice – and Jesus. Snatched my attention. Got it early next morning. Y’all please go out and get your copy and you’ll know what I want every Beatle’s fan to know! Bob Dylan and Alice Cooper in case those didn’t register to some of you younger kids.
There is no deterrent for murder while the victims are denied life. The murders are taken care of while the family grieves. They know (criminals) that they will not be put to death but the victims and families will have to live with it. I have no problem with the death penalty. An eye for a eye as the bible says.
I think I read somewhere that Chapman killed John because of the lyrics in ‘Imagine’ where he says: “Imagine no possessions….” But I think it was more likely the lyrics from Workingclass Hero which says: ……but you’re all f**kin’ peasants as far as I can see.” Now Johnny was known for being really mean at times………but I don’t believe he deserved his fate. He was at the happiest point in his life with a loving wife and young Sean. I often fantasize owning a time machine and going back to prevent the deaths of John Kennedy, John Lennon and Bruce Lee.
The lesson I think has to do with ground. Can you stand on it? Can you build on top of it? I think that is what got to him. He probably thought that JL was unworthy. Unworthy to whose standard? Lennon could have grown old and contributed much more. I don’t see the world better without him. I don’t see why anyone should call him out on his offenses. It is simply immature to assume you can do good by doing bad. It may have been a passing phase but he followed through?
He had some weird fantasy about being well known, but knew that he didn’t have anything worthy to offer the world. The worst thing is, is that he didn’t have to kill him to get the attention of people, he could have shared his story about dealing with obsessive thoughts of murdering John but when he saw how kind he was, couldn’t go through with it. It’s too bad that he couldn’t see that he had a beautiful wife who loves him unconditionally and with whom he lives with in f’s Hawaii FFS. There’s no deep meaningful reason for this calloused, cruel act. It’s fucking senseless, and I hope he spends every day of his life in that cell
