Is amulet haram in Islam?
Scholars agree that it is haram to wear amulets containing anything other than the Quran, but differ on whether they are permitted or not. Some believe it is permissible due to the general meaning of the ahadith and to prevent means of shirk. Others, like Shaykh al-Albani, mention that misguidance is still prevalent among Bedouin, fallahin, and city-dwellers, such as hanging pearls, old shoes, or horseshoes to ward off the evil eye.
This misguidance is attributed to ignorance of Tawhid and the actions of shirk and idolatry that were only sent by messengers and revealed by the Books. The ignorance of Muslims today and their distance from their religion is a matter of concern to Allah.
How long does it take to make a custom pendant?
Custom jewelry creation takes an average of 3-6 weeks, with more intricate designs taking 6-8 weeks. The process can be rushed in special circumstances, but the overall timeline depends on the design and the desired product. Custom jewelry requires more attention to detail than mass-produced pieces, and pricing can vary depending on the medium, style, and design. The most important aspect of the custom process is providing a product that fits the customer’s personality and is worn, not stored in their jewelry box.
To begin the process, a deposit of 50 percent of the estimated price of custom work is required, followed by full payment on major stones once a design is approved. The company works with customers to design within all budgets and ensures a product that fits the customer’s personality.
Are amulets allowed in Christianity?
The use of talismans and other magical items is prohibited in biblical passages, and Christians are encouraged to trust in God’s providence. Catholicism allows the use of images, medals, and other faith expressions, but not under the belief that these items possess power. Instead, these items help believers stay focused on God’s presence and trust in His presence through regular acts of faith. Any power associated with these expressions belongs to God, not the objects themselves. Those who have mistakenly used superstitious or magical items are encouraged to recognize their mistake, seek forgiveness, and renew their faith in God alone.
Is making custom jewelry profitable?
The sale of handmade jewelry can be a profitable endeavor, provided that the items are crafted with care and sold in a market niche with high demand.

Get this man a crafting show ASAP!!!! You are a gem of a human being. I’ve been creating this type of jewelry for a few years now, but from time to time have had trouble with discoloration and such. I thought I’d see some other techniques. Amazing!!! I learned a lot and had a smile on my face the whole way through! Thanks for the info and more importantly, the joy!!!!
This was the first article of yours that I saw, and I was so taken with your knowledge, talent and humor that I subscribed before I even got halfway through the article! Can’t wait to try this, as well as following your other work. And I absolutely LOVE the way you say, “CABACHON!” Rock on, and be blessed!
I watched this article a while back and absolutely adored you and your attitude as well as the cabochons. I figured I wouldn’t ever need to make these, but a while later while I was at a loss for a birthday present idea for a close friend I ordered the things and decided to give it a shot. I’m in the middle of rewatching this and making my cabochon and so far so good! This is the easiest to follow online tutorial I’ve ever seen and your narration is so calming! 😀
This is the first article I watched when looking up how to do this, so glad I did. Your way of explaining was clear and taught me what I needed to know. As well as your voice and the way you joked and talked made the article really enjoyable! I look forward to perusal more of your articles now. See what else you can teach me. I know this article is old, but I really appreciate it!
I saw this article over a year ago and always remember that I need to come back and make some of these … oh no. I did not “like” it or subscribed!!!!! SPent some time looking for you and this article today … FOUND IT and YOU. Loved it even more and took notes, Liked and subscribed. Love your voice and your presence. Thank you. Have a blessed day!
Such a relaxing, enjoyable & informative article. It made me check out ASMR (auto sensory meridian response). My daughter told me about the discovery that certain sounds trigger pleasure sensations in the brain, & that there are now articles created for people to be able to listen to their favourite sounds e.g. whispering, crinkling paper, rustling fabric. This article fits into that category. Your accent, the whispering, the sounds of the materials you used, the lighting & the nature of the activity (the humour was a bonus) all came together to create a wonderfully, relaxing escape from a sometimes hectic, harsh reality. Thank you. I’m gonna look for more of your articles now.
I just love to watch your articles. I lack the tools for many of your crafts but it is fascinating to watch you work I have just ordered the tools I need to begin whittling. And this particular article gives me all kinds of ideas for specialized pendants as gifts for friends. And you’re readings are lovely. You have a beautiful voice, and I wish you would do more. Maybe an occasional short story for your adult subscribers? Obviously I just plain like everything that you do! Thank you for your excellent content.
Omg out of all the hundreds of articles I’ve watched, yours is the best technique (and humor) of all! My issue has been making I don’t have bubbles or weird smears between the paper and the glass cabachon. I’m trying out Dimensional Magic for the first time, also trying your technique of putting 2 coats on the back before glueing to bezel. Fingers crossed! 🙏🏾 Great article! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
This is what I do. I use the E6000 to affix the glass to the photo and to put it into the bezel. I agree the E6000 sometime concerns me because of the fumes and the warning but I chose to stay with it due to the fact that it’s waterproof and I was thinking that if someone bought my pendants and accidentally got them wet then it wouldnt be ruined. I also had to find a way to deal with the glue reacting to the ink from my inkjet printer because it causes bubbles that have to be pushed out so I feel you there. I use my own photos for mine. I put my photos through a computer program and turn them into “kaleidoscope” images. It was another way for me to use shots from my vast archive. Check out my designs on my Finding Home Photography facebook page if you like. Great article. I never thpught of using old magazines. I love their vintage look.
I have to say, Dear Mr. CrafsMan, that you have a wonderful and soothing voice! Your articles make everything look so easy 🙂 I love that you don’t have any music, your voice is melody enough! And some people sing, which sometimes is really bad! Thanks so much for all you do! You are truly an inspiration!
You are so fun!! And you also explain everything very easy for anyone to follow. And your camera angles are great and focused. I found you while trying to learn to use how to use Mod Podge Dimensional Magic to make some pendants. I make Junk Journals and add charms to the spine (making Winnie-the-Pooh-themed journal this time around) and was going to buy some and thought, “Why don’t I make my own.” Ta-da! You came along and helped me out. Thank you. Blessings!
Dear Crafsman and Crafnation: Bom dia from your latest and (perhaps) furthest-away fan! I’m so happy I found your articles, even though I’m a bit late to the party here in Portugal. Are there any other CrafsMan stans in Europe who can recommend an alternative here in the EU for the Mod Podge Dimensional Magic and the Crafter’s Pick glue?
After a year I find you. At last! Not fast not dragging. Perfect. I would like to ask about the sealant you use. What is the name of it? I can’t find an appropriate Sealand even in amazon but from the other hand I live in UK and in at list in the area I life there is not places like hobby lobby or Michael’s you have in the US. Personally I prefer I physical shop with supplies that I can see and in some cases tuch what I am about to buy ( like beads). I subscribe to your website as I am sure I will get a lot of you !
I was about to order Modge Podge on Amazon but some of the reviews were scary, one was yellowing that started happening 6 months after creating her pendents, a couple were reporting cloudiness that never cleared up after weeks of drying. The others reported bubbles they could not get rid of in the glue, which ruined their projects. Perhaps the smelly E6000 is best if done with ventilation ? PS, I love how you say Cabochon, so Glamorous 🙂 Thanks for this article.
Dear Crafsman–I love your cabachon ideas! Mod Podge rules! I have a half-used tube of E-6000 in my junk drawer. It’s about 20 years old. Never liked it much. Out with the old and in with the Crafter’s Pick glue-thanks for the tip. I am a little confused–when you are “sealing” a couple or three layers on the back of the cabachon, are you using the Mod Podge? Hey, my little falcon to the left of this comment would make a cute cabachon 😉 P.S. I just ordered a quilling kit–quilling is a type of paper art I’m really intrigued by and just discovered. If you don’t know what it is, there are lots of utube vids about it. And it’s Quilling with 2 L’s, not Quilting with a “T”–haha.
I have been using JudiKins Diamond Glaze and I’m having a real hard time with it showing tiny sparkles inside my cabochon. Do you have any issues using the Mod Podge with things like air bubbles or tiny specks inside that resemble crystals? Also, I at times see where either the rust or a bluish oxidation takes place with the copper or gold bezel trays. Does any of that happen to you with the Mod Podge?
I bought some cabochons and bezels for an impromptu crafting date with a friend and looked up tutorials, and I am so blessed to have come across this article. Not only is it super informative, its highly entertaining and caught me off guard by how much I giggled throughout. Immediately followed, and now I’m coming back to share that I have shown all my crafting friends this article and now we quote it constantly. Thanks so much Crafsman, you’re the ACTUAL BEST.
Hey, I just wanna say: I’ve been having a real terrible time of things lately in general like in a lot of different areas of my life. And also all my crafts have been going wrong, and it’s been making me really sad. And I stumbled across your article looking for information and tips and I’m just really grateful. This is probably one of the most calming and soothing, yet lighthearted and entertaining articles I’ve ever watched. As I watched you craft all my stress just flew away. So thank you, so so much. It really helped me a lot.
You are the most relaxing person to listen to! I fully enjoyed perusal your tutorial. I have been wanting to try this for a long time but I just can’t bring myself to actually try it but you make it look easy and therapeutic! I think these would make great gifts for friends and family. Thank you for sharing. I am excited to try this out!
Pls help me. I have been trying to do my own cabochons but my pictures start to fade after a day. I really need to know what i am doing wrong. U use an inkjet, tgen i spray some lacquer over the picture n leave to dry. Tgen i attach the glass fome over the picture with glue. After thats dry, i put a layer of varnish behind the picture with the dome and when thats dry, i finally glue the picture with the dome onto the bezel. Some hours later, the picture is fading!! Help please
Very useful. I see now this is something I can DO. I am searching now for precision hole punches since the cabs&bezels I have are in mm instead of inches. I am dreading having to CAREFULLY cut the photos I’m using to 14mm, 20mm 25mm round and 30-40mm oval. I want my cabochons to come out as elegant as yours because I want to sell my photo jewelry but worried. However, everything you showed is crystal-clear once I get precision hole punches or templates to cut around.
The CrafsMan know just what to do. He got mad skills he share with you. He post them vids, he like no other. He be so cool, he smooth like butter. Crafs look so fine y’all might just want it. He line it up and put the hurdy-gurdy on it. If y’all need’n some help, or just a smile. Subscribe to the website, he be back in a while.
Thank you CrafsMan! I was going to pay major money for a locket to attach to my wedding bouquet to carry pictures in but now I’m putting the pictures in a bezel/cabuchon that I got on amazon much cheaper! And the leftovers I am making keychains as wedding keepsakes for everyone. You saved me money and kept me steady craftin!
Crafsman, I’m pretty stressed out right now what with college 3 days a week, working 3 days a week, working nights twice a week, and having only one day to see my boyfriend. But every time I watch your articles I feel refreshed and healed up. I wish I had the time to craft along with you, but until then I’m just enjoying learning from you. Thanks for giving me a rare sense of peace.
This is my first article of yours that I’ve seen and you are awesome! I’ve purchased a couple of these pendants from Etsy, and thought I’d like to get some for my quilting friends…..then I thought these must not be too difficult to make….and boom! I found your article! I’m going to watch more of your articles too, cause you make me laugh! Thanks so much! 🙂
Crafsman! Please help. I’ve got your method here down and I just love this article. I’ve watched it a billion times. What is the trick to preventing dark spots or maybe trapped bubbles when using GLITTER cardstock paper? I always am sure to remove any bubbles from the Dimensional Magic. Maybe I’m using too much or too little. I’m making 10mm and 12mm earrings with the glass cabochons. None of them turn out. I always see a dark spot in the middle where I applied the Dimensional Magic. Thank you for your time! I love your articles!
Recently my daughter asked if I could make something she could give to the cast & crew of a show she is in. Trying to be a good Dad of course I said “sure”. She said “Great” and I started freakin out. “What do I do?” “How do I do it?” “What was I thinking?” Then I came across your article. With your smooth description and your expert process you gave this OG the confidence to try something completely new. Following your step-by-step process I created pendant keychain fobs with the show logo. My daughter was ecstatic, the cast & crew loved them, I’m a hero and YOU DA MAN! Sorry. YOU DA CRAFSMAN!!!!!!!! Thank you! Thanks You! Thank you!
Question. Cabochon. I said i dont wanna die early, but i died laughin at cabochon! 😭 Now i was looking for how to transfer image on metal becoz i wanted to do it on metal stamping blanks. I dont want to use metal stamping tools for letters and numbers. And i think photo transfers are fresher take. I came across that article of yours. But instead i commented here. Crazy CABACHON. So my QUESTION: is how long is it goin to take to transfer image on a 16mm brass stamping blanks using a transfer medium? Will it work? 😬 Peace luv u mr Craftsman!!🙏🏻
Hi Craftsman, I just love your articles. Your voice is calming and cool. And how you teach is outstanding! I’m making pendants using bezels and PapaJohns (!) and I have a question. I’ve watched your article several times and have read tutorials from other crafters about making pendants. However, regardless of the paper I use or the glue I use, or how much pressure I use to get the bubbles out of the glue, the images continue to get a silvery scale-like effect. Especially on images with a dark or black background. Do you have any suggestions on how to decrease or prevent this from happening? Thank you! Kris
I have just recently found your website, I had to subscribe you. Your articles are very explanitory and very inspiring.
