The Focusrite Scarlett Solo (3rd gen) may not be working properly due to compatibility issues and missing drivers. To resolve this issue, follow these general troubleshooting steps:
- Check the USB connection: Ensure that the USB cable is securely connected to both the Scarlett Solo and your computer.
- Check if there are any compatibility issues or missing drivers. If the interface isn’t running as soon as you connect it to your computer, it’s likely that the cables aren’t good enough. Use the cable that came with the Scarlett 2i2.
- Disconnect any other USB devices connected to the system. Connect the interface to other USB ports. Some ports on your system may offer better performance than others. If using a USB hub, bypass this and connect your Scarlett directly to a USB port on your computer.
- Unplug the audio interface from your computer. Uninstall Focusrite Control, Thunderbolt USB driver, and try turning off phantom power.
- Download the latest 2i2 driver package from Focusrite.
- Install the software with the 2i2 not connected to your PC.
- Reboot your system.
- Connect the Scarlett to your computer.
- Check all four USB connectors involved for bent shells, bent pins, dirt, or fluff interfering with the connection.
- If the MIDI connections aren’t working properly, check the routing in your DAW. If the routing is correct and still the issue persists, try resetting the MIDI settings in your DAW.
In summary, if you’re experiencing connectivity or audio performance issues with your USB interface, follow these general troubleshooting steps to get your Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd Generation back on track.

📹 How To Fix No Hardware Detected On My Focusrite scarlett
Hey If this video has helped it would be amazing if you could like and subscribe! Sometimes getting these things to work can be …
Dude I was so close to giving up, literally the whole internet had absolutely nothing to offer me. Had already sent it back and ordered a new one cuz I thought it was broken, questioning my existence and all my choices, then this random, and (no offense), altogether unprofessional article, tells me to use my phone charger, and shit…it worked! Thank you for making my day and saving me. Your doing God’s work bro.
What seemed to be the only solution for me was, Step 1: to delete any antivirus or disable it. Step 2: leave the interface u plugged and reinstall Focusrite control. Step 3: follow the prompts in focusrite and restart your computer. Once the computer is on, load focusrite control up and plug the interface back in. Hope this helps!
Legend. I had an error saying: “The last USB device you connected malfunctioned.” I searched all over the Internet for support and all these Microsoft support BS users told me to update drivers blah blah blah.. you on the other hand: “Yeah just change the cord lol.” and it worked. Thanks a bunch man
What does ILOK have to do with Focusrite in general? Last time I checked there is no licensing switching your hardware onto different machines. *If you are using licensed plugins your hardware should still work and the operating system should still see your device. I own a 18i20 Focusrite Gen3 and I noticed that I had to give it a jiggle to be recognized on my other computer after getting the dreaded (not connected). You can verify that you’re having an issue by going into event viewer. I think there may be some type of issue with the USB-C male portion of the cord or the actual USB-C jack. Based on my experience it seems like there may be some type of tolerance issue with the male USB-C if I was able to wiggle and get a response. Note that my setup is rack mounted with little to ZERO disturbance with device movement. My recommendation is to get a better quality USB-C connector to fix this issue. If I get a chance I will run this through some electrical engineering tests to confirm the quality issues with factory focusrite cables. Which is pretty fucked up if you are buying their Flagship device.
So, I was using this with no problems for general gaming. When I went to update Focusrite Control so we could record on Abelton, it stopped working…..So after doing what you showed us, it still doesn’t work. Is it something with the software? I’m skeptical to think it’s hardware if it was JUST working.
