How did witchcraft impact society?
Witchcraft in early modern England was a complex phenomenon that caused fear and became a normal part of life. Newcomers to a community might be accused of witchcraft due to suspicion from their neighbors, or it could be a way to make money. The harvest failed, leading to increased suspicion. Witchcraft trials became a platform for grievances and disputes to be discussed, and people could testify for or against their neighbors.
Understanding the history of witchcraft provides insights into the realities of everyday life for ordinary people in early modern England, rather than the supernatural. Dr. Jessica Nelson, Head of Collections at The National Archives, delivered a 30-minute talk on the topic.
What is the goal of witchcraft?
The terms witchcraft and witch have evolved over time, with some referring to them as a range of ritual practices aimed at manipulating occult, spiritual, or supernatural power, while others describe women as antisocial, rebellious, or independent of male power. Modern religious groups, mainly of 20th and 21st-century origin, often refer to their traditions as witchcraft and themselves as witches. These practitioners often draw heavily on the imagery and terminology associated with witchcraft in European cultures but invest it with new meanings.
The term witchcraft originated in the Early Middle Ages as the Old English term wiccecraeft. Prior to the 19th century, the common understanding of witch and witchcraft among English speakers was a negative one, with a witch being someone who drew on supernatural or occult power to harm others, often referred to as maleficium.
What is the function of a witch?
Witchcraft is a belief system that involves casting curses, using magical words and gestures to inflict supernatural harm. This can involve inscribing runes or sigils on objects, burning or binding a wax or clay image, or using herbs, animal parts, and other substances to create potions or poisons. Witchcraft has been blamed for various misfortunes, with illness or death being the most common form of harm in Europe. In some cultures, witches use something from their target’s body to work magic against them, such as hair, nail clippings, clothing, or bodily waste.
This belief is widespread in Europe, Africa, South Asia, Polynesia, Melanesia, and North America. Indigenous peoples in Africa and North America also believe that witches cause harm by introducing cursed magical objects into their victim’s body, such as small bones or ashes. In some cultures, witches use human body parts in magic, and they are often believed to murder children for this purpose. In Europe, cases where women killed their children due to postpartum psychosis were often interpreted as yielding to diabolical temptation.
What is the role of the witches?
The Three Witches, also known as the Weird Sisters, Weyward Sisters, or Wayward Sisters, are characters in William Shakespeare’s play Macbeth. They represent evil, darkness, chaos, and conflict, acting as agents and witnesses. Their origins can be traced back to Holinshed’s Chronicles, a history of England, Scotland, and Ireland. Other possible sources include British folklore, contemporary treatises on witchcraft, the Witch of Endor from the Bible, the Norns of Norse mythology, and ancient classical myths of the Fates, such as the Greek Moirai and the Roman Parcae.
What is witchcraft used for?
Witchcraft, a practice of summoning evil spirits and demons to cause harm, was closely linked to religion in the medieval Church. Priests could exorcise those possessed by malign spirits. In the 16th century, people believed witchcraft explained sudden ill-fortune, leading to an obsession with witch-hunting. The Witchcraft Act, passed in 1542, defined witchcraft as a crime punishable by death. It was repealed five years later but restored in 1562. Witch-hunting became an obsession in some parts of the country.
Who are the witches in today’s society?
Pagans are individuals with spirituality and practices that differ from mainstream religions like Christianity and Judaism. They often practice earth-focused and polytheistic practices, worshipping multiple gods or goddesses. There are around a million practicing Pagans in the U. S., and one of the reasons they are drawn to the religion is the fact that females are allowed to be spiritual leaders, unlike traditional Christian beliefs. This change in power dynamics has made Paganism attractive to many people, as it changes the power dynamic and attracts more people to explore their beliefs.
How is witchcraft a form of social control?
This paper examines witchcraft accusations in mid-seventeenth century Malta before the Inquisition Tribunal. It discusses individual cases and their behavior, highlighting how magic provided confidence in the face of fear and provided an outlet for hostility. Magic often failed, but it assigned a human explanation to terrifying events, transforming them into a human context. Socially, magic served as an outlet for aggression fueled by social antagonism and frustration. Witchcraft also served to regulate sex antagonism and demand cultural conformity by providing a criminal act for deviants to be accused of. Witches were often used as scapegoats for such offenses.
Why are the witches important?
The witches in Macbeth symbolize the supernatural and challenge the concept of free will through their prophecies, which have the potential to influence Macbeth’s actions.
What are the social functions of witchcraft?
Witchcraft-related fears may serve as a cultural mechanism to avoid destructive envy, contributing to social order and in-group conformity. These beliefs are conservative and contribute to the political economy of believing and belonging. Studies have shown that witchcraft, violence, and democracy in South Africa, as well as the wealth of religions, have a significant impact on economic history. Therefore, understanding the role of religion in economic history is crucial for understanding and addressing social issues.
Why are the witches important in Quizlet?

I cried out to God Aug 24th 2006 to deliver me from addiction the first thing He put on my heart was to stop listening to the music I listened to and what I watched. Have listened to only christian music since. Christian talk radio on my drives. Been clean, sober and saved 17 years in 10 days! To God be all the glory! ❤
i used to listen to taylor swift but one day i stopped to listen to the lyrics i was singing over myself – primarily the song “champagne problems.” as a single christian woman who has dealt with a lot of rejection i realized these weren’t good words to be singing over myself. from there, the holy spirit revealed to me that some of the strongholds i had that were effecting my life were because i have listened to her music (and others like it) for many years. like pastor vlad said, something was planted in my subconscious. i encourage my brothers and sisters in christ to really use discernment when taking in all forms of media. remember who is in control of the industry.
I used to be a HUGE Swiftie until the Lord opened my eyes to all of the darker elements of her music and public persona. I realized that I had started worshipping her and saying things like “She saved me” which was absolute blasphemy. And no one should know more song lyrics than Bible verses!! So a few months ago, I burned all of her merch and cds that I had bought over the years and I instantly felt all of the weight lift off my shoulders! Praise the Lord for exposing the idol I had put on a pedestal in my life!! ✝️
This is an amazing article! I am going to send it to my 22 year old daughter, who is a Christian but like all people her age, is virtually being assaulted daily whether they want it or not – by images. By spoken words that invoke evil and sin. By music! Especially the art forms of music and movies combined. I remind her daily to watch out for the enemy is so crafty. So malicious. So determined to create chaos and destroy the next generation. Neither of us listen to – or are fans of Taylor Swift. It deeply deeply disturbs me how many parents are embracing Taylor Swift as a more ‘wholesome’ variety of music for their children!!! The enemy – with patience, time and extreme evil has slowly indoctrinated a whole generation – and the next one too!!! These times call for even more prayer and 24/7 vigilance!!! God bless all of you who are listening to this and coming to this website to honor the Father. The Son. And the Holy Spirit!!! AMEN!!!!
Also the Barbie movie, I saw the preview to it and they made a sexual innuendo…. And I felt conviction, and my parents and sister and my cousin went to go see it and asked me if I wanted to go with them today. My mom is very strong in her relationship with the Lord, and I warned my dad to tell her about the joke because my little cousin is pretty young. He didn’t warn her, and I prayed I said “Lord Jesus if this movie is something you don’t want me perusal, then let me and my mother feel the same conviction in the beginning of the movie and let my mom say something about it and I’ll get up and leave immediately” well the first scene is a scene where they make the little girls look extremely gloomy as they play with baby dolls(almost making motherhood seem dark and gloomy) then Barbie comes in and she’s like a giant statue, and the little girls are amazed at her(reminded both my mom and I of idol worship-my mom specifically pointed out ishatar) and then after that the little girls start destroying their baby dolls (reminded me and my mom of child sacrifice/abortion) My mom didn’t say anything at that part, we just both thought the same thing and didn’t say anything, well two more minuets In the sexual innuendo joke happens my mom looks at me and says “Caleb I don’t think this is good to watch” and I said to the Lord “Thank you Jesus” and I stood up and walked out immediately and my mom followed me!!! It’s very much so in the music and even in kids movies/shows now protect yourself and listen to the Holy Spirit please because He is ALWAYS RIGHT!
I finally realized why God didn’t let me get a ticket when someone invited me to line up with them for the Taylor swift war. To be honest never listened to her in years since I was a child, didn’t knew she was heading this way. Praise be to the Lord, Jesus Christ Hallelujah. God protected me from amnesia and spells and idolatry 🙌🏻
I grew up listening to Taylor since I was 9 and I adored her, me and my cousin would sing her songs and then when I was about 13. Me and my best friend would sing her songs. This continued until a month ago. I was convicted by the Holy Spirit to watch what I was listening to, and to see if it was honoring God, so I went through all my music and deleted all of my secular music, I even had a song called demon host and I was like “whoa. ” I didn’t realize all that I was letting into my mind and spirit. So as I was deleting I came up to all my Taylor Swift music and I had almost every album. I started questioning if I wanted to delete them or not bc of all the bonds I had made with people through her music and then I realized I was idolizing her and was in bondage to her music. Anything that I have to second guess giving up for God? It’s gone.
I stopped listening to Taylor Swift about a year ago. I have to admit it, I was really into her “reputation” era and all the songs befote then. I kept listening and adding her songs to my playlist. When I started to listen to songs like “I Did Something Bad” and “False God”, I realized the evil meaning behind the songs, and the Holy Spirit re directed me and told me to stop. Now I realize that not only what you listen to has a major effect on spiritual consious, but the background of the artist who makes music. May all young Christians understand that you have the will to choose what to listen to.
This is SO spot on. She had me spellbound in my early 20s. I had a senior year high school breakup right around the time she started blowing up in popularity. 7 years I stayed in my misery and wept to her music. Played the game everytime the boy came back. Literally made my own music articles to her songs and felt she knew me well. And you know what, there was a lot of sleep paralysis, a lot of seeing and feeling things in my dreams that were demonic, and I had no understanding of what was going on. In 2015 I attended her 1989 tour and that was when God started waking me up. She had a set that was extremely disturbing and dark. You could feel the dark presence that entered the stadium. It was from that moment that I start slowly backing away from her and all thr other secular music. I started learning exactly the things you are sharing!! Something sinister lies in Taylor Swift and I cant stand to even so much as hear one of her songs. Especially the old ones. If I’m in a store that one comes on in, i have absolutely felt taken right back to that time where she ruled over me. The spiritual battle is HUGE these days. Thank you for such a well explained article!
I remember going to a concert a long time ago. No sense in saying the name of the group because I think they are all the same in the sense I’m talking about. The atmosphere was electric and the noise of 20,000 people in an arena 45 minutes before the concert started is hard to describe. When they took the stage it sounded like an explosion of noise……not just the music but from the crowd. I was actually looking around at the ceiling and thinking is this safe? Weird experience to say the least. I was already thinking this sounds great to be live music but something was off. When the lead singer came to a perfect angle of the stage to our section looking it seemed to be right at us like “I see you!” I’m not talking about an acknowledgment at the crowd but standing stock still staring for a period of time that was way too long….long enough the band had to circle back around for him to start singing again. At that moment a chill went up my spine and I said out loud…”wait a second? What?” I was 25 at the time and my friends that were right there picked up on the very strange feeling that came with that few seconds. Look we were just there to hear some “good sounding” music but within 30 minutes or so we left. There was a realization of there’s something more going on at these concerts. Sounds dumb to some people I’m sure of that but now that I’m older I can honestly say it was some kind of witchcraft or crowd influence. So nothing surprising to me about secular music being some kind of tool.
I have a teenage son who just started a new job a few months ago. When the place closes, all the young people all clean and listen to music. One of the young women put on some Taylor swift music on a few different occasions and on every single occasion she plays it, my son says he feels physically ill and almost immediately after it is turned off, he feels better. He takes his ear buds now so he doesn’t have to listen to this music that makes him feel sick. There’s definitely something wicked about her tunes
My childhood best friend became a huge fan of Swift’s music. It was then that I began to witness an alarming transformation in her personality. Back then I did not entirely know about personalities or the demonic influence as such. I only knew she was manifesting an entirely different person I could not recognize or support. I just felt the deceit & darkness deep in my spirit. I questioned if she was on drugs, bewitched or something psychiatric. I couldn’t explain back then what my eyes were seeing. And no one else apparently could see it. I did know she was listening to this music. I still to this day believe that was a major part in her change, and the eventual destructive, life altering choices she made.
I attended a concert held by fans of her and I was kind of lukewarm aat that time but it was really weird cause there’s this specific song of her where the fans will raise their hands as if hailing her and a picture of her edited in the famous the actor of Jesus’ portrait is raised. Tbh, when I started listening to her music again these past days, I became lukewarm and the depression is creeping on me again. Right now, I’m surrendering it all again to God and asking Him to break the chains of this idolism.
I was her fan back in time. I tell you that SHE DOES !!! I don’t know if it is the phenomena of casting spells but when you start listening to her songs you would FEEL THINGS. Before I knew Jesus I was literally obsessed with her ( now I’m ashamed about it). But once I received my JESUS I realized just how much of a slave I became to her music especially the lyrics. And I believe she casts spells…She literally has a whole album with witch vibes. Praise the LORD JESUS for setting me free from this. Also can’t wait for this !! People need to see this !!!! Edit : I see ton of people on the comments saying that FEELING THINGS is good. What i mean is not emotions, i mean a different presence iykyk
I all of a sudden stopped listening to Taylor Swift just recently… I went on my Apple Music and deleted all her songs I had on there. I was a huge “Swftie” I know all her songs by heart so when I did this I surprised my old self… A lot of things have been dropping naturally in my life and I believe God has everything to do with it.
One on my granddaughters really liked Taylor Swift and her music. A good while ago my granddaughter said she does not like Taylor Swift anymore because she made fun of Christians. I am thankful that she is so perceptive, and I know God helped her realize that is not the type of person or music that she should be associated with. (Thank you Jesus, for saving my 3 Granddaughters!)
We, as real Christians, need to band together and sincerely pray for these artists in music and film. God is exposing more and more very evil and demonic happenings in this industry. We need to be bold, approach, and preach the gospel to these people no matter how extreme the pushback. I am guilty as a believer for not serving the Lord fervently enough and pray for God’s strength and courage to serve Him better. Praise the Lord!
I never took magic serious, I just thought it was something crazy people believed in that could never ever effect anybody let alone myself, so before I became a Christian I found myself within a certain circle of people, my life was in turmoil, I was mentally and physically ill which no doctor could explain, I was drowning in sin and was literally in a mindless trance and my life spiraled so out of control I was left feeling absolutely helpless and decided that suicide was the only way out, and this is when I met the LORD CHRIST JESUS in spirit, and the moment I accepted him as my LORD and Saviour I literally felt those spirits lift of me, it was truly the most beautiful thing I have experienced in my whole life, please don’t take magic and spells lightly, there are some wicked people in the world and they will use any means to get to you, always pray for you and your loved one against magic, peace and blessings 🙏❤
I use to be a “Swiftie” like hard core. But one day God spoke to me and told me I was making Taylor Swift a idol in my life. So I ended up leaving the group and I knew I was obeying God. I still think she is talented and good at business but she has definitely gone woke (and into demonic stuff) and not living a godly life. I pray for her often. That one day she will come to know Jesus and through that bring others to know Him.
I remember being a teen and I would attend Christian concerts. We the fans of Christian artists would never idolize them. There was prayer, and a great message from the artists, and yea there would be autograph signings, but the artists never sold themselves as an idol. Such a humbling down to earth experience. Totally different vibe between Christian and secular pop culture.
Agh the article was even better than I’d anticipated. Fab job as always brother Pastor Vlad! I don’t listen to this girl or any secular music or watch tv since 2001, for the reason you don’t. (Or, as a song I heard as a child said, “Oh, be careful, little ears, what you hear… oh be careful little eyes what you see… for The Father up above, Is looking down in love, oh be careful little eyes what you see!” 🙏♥️✝️ thanks for article PV!
Pastor Vlad, I was touched by your sermon on witchcraft. I was baptized thirty or more years ago I see this adoration for people who gain financial fortune, and are functioning emissaries of Satan. I have a growing awe of, and love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Having realized Indian cullture through Yoga, and Ravi Shankar, I am daily reminded of our Fruit of the Holy Spirit, which would say I am comitted to my final life, walking through the pages of the Good Book. The Bible says we have a friend in Christ, who is closer than any brother and will never desert us. Nothing can take that away from me, not Powers, or Princes in high places. Not a day goes by that I don’t thank Him. In these perilous times, to experience the Peace that surpasses all understanding, is truly something more valuable than anything we may desire. Truly He woulld not have us in a spirit of fear, but in power, Love, and soundness of mind. There is someone in my family who believes in horoscope, and others of my siblings have atheistic leanings. this state of affairs leaves me sad, but challenges me to grow my Faith. God Bless, and a hedge of safety for you and your family.
I used to be a HUGE “swiftie” however I am a Christian with a strong relationship with God and hearing more and more about her beliefs and also being convicted by the Holy Spirit on how I behaved while frequently listening to her made me stop. I begun to have an aggressive, selfish, sassy spirit on me the more and more I listened I found myself in awe of her and everything she did and it became a bit of an obsession, while I find her music catchy I completely cut off all of her music bc of this affect on my soul. Thank you for speaking up about this it needs to be said. God bless! Praying for your ministry!!
Thank you for this information. My granddaughter came over to the house with her dad the other day and said, “We listened to Taylor Swift all the way over.” (It’s a 30-minute drive to our house from theirs.) I didn’t know anything about this artist although I had heard her name. We continue to pray for them. Prayers and recommendations are appreciated.
I used to be such a fan and I’d have her songs on repeat all the time but now I don’t listen to secular music which includes hers also. Am so glad I stopped before this whole wave become increasingly big. She’s taking over right now, everyone is going gaga about her tours and it’s so sad cause they don’t realize how evil the whole thing is.
I just found a short article of Taylor at an award show, and she was listening to an artist thanking her producer and others for her award and as she spoke, Taylor cheered with her — UNTIL the artist thanked God. Taylor frowned and a darkness came over her face as the woman said “Without God none of this would be possible,” and Taylor actually shook her head “No.”
This happened to me with Kendrick Lamar. He talks karma/ new age ideologies on his new album. All I did was listen to it for a year. Next thing I know I’m in the new age and experiencing tremendous anxiety. This is no joke people. Jesus is the only one that truly loves you nobody else does, I promise ❤
We can all pray for her and her fans. I was a Swiftie.. until last month when the Holy Spirit finally convicted me. Taylor is a mainstream artist that a lot of my Christian friends followed (and many still do follow). I should’ve dissected her lyrics on a deeper level (False God, Blank Space, yntcd, Karma, etc). Regarding willow, I have a story about it, and I’ve seen people who shared similar experiences, including Angela Ucci in her Heaven & Healing podcast, which I recommend you to listen. Ever since willow came out, I would play it on repeat and never stop. Soon after, I found myself turning to tarot cards and divination (something I have always been against but during those moments I was strangely drawn to them). I don’t blame her, I blame myself for listening. It took me four months to realize my mistake and pray for deliverance and leave divination behind – that obsessive feeling also went away. A lot of her fans are defensive saying she is a Christian. She mentioned it in her documentary, but her actions and anti-God lyrics suggest that her heart is far away from the Lord now. I believe she is a kind person – just not a believer. Her constant theme of ‘revenge’ and unforgiveness go against God.
I love her songs,i even have playlist on spotify. Huhuhu. It breaks my heart as a christian that I love the songs karma, I have been blind. I’m sorry Lord. My heart is very heavy. I love the Lord most of all, so I will renounced and will stopped listening from now on. Please pray for me as this is not an easy battle for me. Thank you pastor for being the Lord’s mouthpiece for this wisdom. It’s easier to renounce TS than compromise my relationship with Jesus who has been my Rock and Salvation.
Anyone who’s even writing or singing songs with filthy language, it’s NOT OKAY, if You’re a Christian, why would you ever allow even a teenager to listen to this! When I got delivered from drugs and saw in the spirit realm, I immediately saw the spiritual significance of music, and saw the wiles of the DEVIL to take over by influencing a person’s soul with MUSIC!! He was the most, or one of the most powerful angels, however he was obviously filled with musical instruments in his angelic form, it speaks of it in Ezekiel!! I saw it, felt it, perceived it in the spirit, so it’s extremely serious, as you said! Keep up the good work, Brother Vlad, and sounding the alarm on these issues, it’s way worse then before, it’s frightening, and it’s leading people to hell!! A few years ago, I remember that rapper who had an outdoor concert, with the open mouth of some demonic portal, and the sheer force of the crowd was causing people there to be pushed together, losing their breath, fainting, and some died!! This was 100% demonic, from beginning to end!!
I agree with you 100%, Vlad! I don’t listen to secular music and I didn’t allow my children to listen to it. I didn’t know how dark she had gotten until I saw your article. I always told my children and now my grandchildren to be careful what they watch, listen to, and allow in their hearts and lives. Jesus is the only Way! Love and blessings to you my brother! ✝️🙏🔥
I’ve been reading some of the comments and they are spot on. She has something that just catch your attention in a different way. It’s like you CAN NOT stop listening to her music. I knew something was off, but I didn’t want it to make it a big deal, but I realized I was wrong after perusal this article. Thank you so much. With the help of the Holy Ghost, we can deep clean our playlists.
I have been telling my daughters that they are not allowed to listen to any of her songs. When they asked me why, I couldn’t give them a firm reason. It’s just something that I knew in my soul. I just would call it discernment. As Christians, I told them we shouldn’t be listening to secular music, but there’s something especially about her songs that I don’t like. I didn’t take time to research her or anything like that. And I’ve never listened to one of her songs all the way to the end; I always turn them off when they come on. Regardless, there was something that was not sitting right with my soul. Now I understand why.
I remember I had a girlfriend that told me she casted a “love spell” on me. My relationship with her was much like all of the failed relationships Taylor Swift had. We simply could not get along. We always fought. After breaking up with her I had a stretch of massive bad luck. Spells like that are not about love. It’s the work of the occult. It’s a bunch of hooey. If there is anyone who helped turn me closer to Christ, it was her.
This is interesting because I’m 63 years old & may not be a “Swifty”, but I have listened to her music. She’s about the same age as my own two kids and I admit I’ve thought of her as a wholesome alternative to everything else. I’ve always prayed to God for discernment to not be deceived and led down the wrong path. I’ll be doing more research on my own here. I’m glad I saw this article
Thank you for sharing this Pastor Vlad. I listened to one song by Taylor Swift long ago and it was Love Story (Romeo and Juliet). Two other old songs I would often listen to as well. But I stopped as God was shifting my mind to newer perspectives. I read the news article about Taylor Swifts Era Tour and the amnesia. And for the first time I listened to her in years and i felt immediate chills from the clips of her eras tour article and the rest was history. I dont typically like listening to secular music anymore because of the words it speaks over my life.
I look at people on my news feed going to her concerts and obsessing over her, grown adults! Nonstop. The money people are willing to pay for tickets proves this is some kind of insane cult. Reminds me vividly of Josie and the Pussycats movie from 2001 where they talked about subliminal messaging in music. They played it off like a joke but I believe they were saying the quiet part out loud.
Taylor came to Brazil now and a series of strange things occurred during her visit, as well as tragedies. In Rio de Janeiro, a fan was killed after leaving the show and going swimming at the beach with his friends. They were robbed and cowardly murdered. News like this would sound “normal” in the case of a very violent city in one of the most violent countries in the world, but there was also another fan who, during the show, fell ill and convulsed due to the heat, dying in hospital. This happened during the performance of the song Cruel Summer.
I’m a Christian and I watched part of miss americana and immediately I felt something isn’t right here and something heavy, something spells. I think she’s doing what ever she thinks work, ignoring the price. I felt something heavy trying to put itself over me and or get into me and that was just from the documentary!!! I could feel God protected me because I could feel something protect me, so it wasn’t able to reach me. Literally.
I used to listen to her song before when I was an atheist. After I become a Christian, I quit listening to secular music including her music. I remember from one of songs that she sort of talk about addictive usage of drugs. She (almost) made it sound normal. Since I was an atheist, I noticed something disturbing but still continued listening anyways. But as of now, the Lord has opened my eyes to the truth and the light.
This makes so much sense. I didn’t even listen to her until karma came out and the song “look what you made me do” was the one that got me with her, and now i see the idolatry from so many people and claiming they are and i quote “Taylor’s version” meaning they belong to her and i think that’s all you need to realize that it is in fact a trance to listen to her songs
I don’t pay much attention to pop culture, but I’ve known of Taylor Swift growing up. Listening to her music was sort of a meme before memes existed because most of her songs were about failed relationships. I do remember recently having the thought that she suddenly seemed to be so famous now, even before dating Travis Kelce. I didn’t give it much thought until now but I always thought her rise to current stardom was rather sudden and unusual. I saw this article in my feed but didn’t pay it any mind at first because I was exhausted from seeing this woman in all of my news feeds, the majority of which is sports. However, earlier today I saw a headline saying that Swift was being accused of witchcraft and I immediately remembered this article. I wouldn’t surprise me at all if Swift even just dabbled with witchcraft, even if she isn’t a self proclaimed witch. “You shall know them by their fruit.” The dabblers are the worst tho. They’ll try it to see if it works and then influence others to do the same without understanding what’s going on.
So glad i found this website. I had to explain to my daughter that the ears and eyes are the windows to our soul so we have to be careful with what we allow bc ‘we are what we eat’ and she understands. She’s 11. My middle aged coworker thinks Taylor swift and beyonce are simply ‘creative and artistic’ but i will be sharing your article with them bc you articulate so well what i have been feeling but didnt have the words. Thank you for sounding the alarm!!! Be blessed🙏
I used to listen to Taylor swift she was my favourite artist and I was downright mesmerized by her. Music and books ( not the good kind ) were my life, I was trapped and never thought I would stop listening to her music at all, it felt like a part of me was lost when I slowly the holy spirit changed my desire and I longer craved such music or books . But have I am sober ( if I may say so ) her music no longer has that pull that effect it had me . Praise the Lord ❤❤❤.
Pastor Vlad, I wanted to clarify your reference to Hinduism as an “Indian” religion. India has so very many Christians as well as people of other ‘faiths’ like Islam, Bhuddism, Jains etc. Hinduism is a major religion but certainly not the dominant one. India is officially a secular country and has very strong Christian Communities across several states which are actively bringing more people to Christ. As a Christian and an Indian I just wanted to make that distinction clear so that your followers don’t misunderstand Hinduism as being synonymous with India as a nation. 😊
Not just her. If you look at the patterns and history of the musical industrial complex, they tend to scout out a pretty face with a decent voice that they can mold. This person could be male or female, usually a late teen. They may have even written some of their own songs, and at first, the industry will pamper and shower them and their parents and give them whatever they want, and then the money starts flowing in. They have to seduce the parents as well to get them on board by signing consent over their kids. To me, this is like a free will offering of their children to baal. They become an overnight sensation, skyrocket up the billboards (which they control), get played on all the radio stations again and again and again (which they also control and is a technique of mind kontrol). They may even put some songs in hit kids movies and then may even graduate to grown up movies and could even play an acting role to get more recognition. They tour around the earth and sell out every seat (also under their control). Now that this person has a following and they’ve become accustomed to a certain life style is when they come to them and say “ya know, you’ve become successful, but you’ll forever be associated as a kid and only viewed and listened to by kids. If you’d like to advance your career, you need to shed that “good girl” or “innocent boy” image and step into the adult arena. Here’s some song we’ve written for you to sing. Here’s the articles you’ll be in, heres the costumes you’ll wear, heres the imagery and choreography you’ll participate in.
Thank you 4 all the significant & insightful warnings you provide us fellow Christians Pastor Vlad!❤I recently found your website & I’m so incredibly grateful to have all your teachings along my spiritual path back to the eternal & everlasting Father in Heaven! May the (gates) remain discretely gaurded from deceit & manipulation with the eternal power of the Holy Spirit! 🎉

I have been an avid metal listener since my teens (I’m 31) However, as I grew closer to the Father, I could sense that this lyricism and tone was placing me in the company of evil. Many dark lyrics of depression and sadness. Lyrics about demons pulling you under or glorifying darkness & violence. You find yourself repeating these words in your head, or aloud, not realizing the power they have over you. I have since moved to instrumental metal and less aggressive lyrics; more joyous music. I havent listened to my favorite metal band in 2 weeks. Im no longer angered as easily, and life in general is less depressing. This feeling can come from any negative lyrics, it doesnt have to be metal music. Thank you Father, for guiding me.
I was addicted to drugs for 25 years and I listened to a lot of wordly music. I felt abnormally attracted by female pop singers like Taylor S and especially Selena G. The lyrics and gestures they have are designed to charm and seduce people to the sound of their music. Their songs are playing everywhere on radio and in businesses but the spirit behind the music can be evil and desensitize the listeners to God’s will for us. They project an image of success through their career achievements but their popularity has a dark side… One day I felt sick during a Ramstein concert like something completely drained my energy. Today I have been sober for 2 years and I try to stay away from wordly music and other suggestive media. I owe it all to Yeshua our Lord, King, Healer and Savior! HalleluYAH!
Thanks brother Vlad for taking about this which our parents are not talking about. I didn’t listen to Taylor that much but I listened to Selena, Justin and BTS. But Praise the Lord, He delivered me, I stopped listening secular music and after that I got delivered and the Holy Spirit renewed my mind on relationship, forgiveness, living in the love of God. I feel blessed now because I didn’t understand that those secular musics were making me depressed and bitter towards my life. I had no one in my life to talk regarding this issues but I thank You for taking me out of the evil ways and delivering and protecting me. Thank You Lord. 🙏🏻❤
This was very good! We listen to many different music styles with our teen and adult children at home. I mentioned the other day while listening to some of their music that some of it sounds like self worship instead of God worship. Lyrics like “I’m unstoppable, I’m so powerful”etc. It seemed to suddenly dawn on me in that light despite having listened to the same songs before. We pray to grow true conviction in our children. One of the best ways we’ve found to do it is by spending a lot of time together (we homeschooled) and them seeing our reactions to the things of everyday life. Will we respond in faith? More is caught than taught! Thank you for presenting this! God bless you!
This article is timely for me. For the first time Since the Lord got ahold of me and changed my life, last night I actually listened and watched snips of Taylor swifts music articles and after about an hour I felt majorly despressed and heartache like I haven’t felt in a long time. I won’t make that mistake again. I had to repent and spend time wrapped in the Lords arms to recover from that. The music is catchy and gives you a superficial feeling of happiness that quickly gets replaced with a deep deep sadness. Those with spiritual eyes to see and ears to hear know what I mean. I wouldn’t doubt witchcraft is involved whether she knows it or not idk but it’s still there.
Word on the streets is, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” HOSEA 4:6 I need to renounce and repent for ALL secular music I have listened to and allowed to play, over and over and over, in my soul. I loved Taylor’s 🎶. If your children are in public schools, they’re hearing all of this music somehow…
Vlad, could you please do a article about Billie Eilish also? My two daughters will not stop listening to either of these two “artists,” no matter what I say! Sadly, both of my girls started listening to Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish AFTER I enrolled them in a Christian School following years of homeschooling!
Thank you so much, for taking the time to share TRUTH! I also have a strong conviction and also having to raise children in this world, BUT NOT of the world is incredibly difficult at times. I couldn’t understand WHY I completely shut down Taylor Swift, my oldest daughter started to love her music so much. And for the life of me I had no idea why…. I felt uneasy. I appreciate your msg, and helping others understand the depth behind what’s happening through her. “Narrow is the gate”.
I’m from Hollywood and I was one of her handler’s until I quit that job. This was 30 years ago. I was already a born again Christian, just because the Lord asked me to become a missionary the first year I moved there. Little did I know that I would eventually end becoming someone that I did not want to become. I have way too long of a testimony to tell. Now that I’m 64 I can look back and see why the Lord placed there Vlad. Amen!
I was introduced to witchcraft 20 years ago and ended up practicing it as a solo-witch. Over a year ago I visited the Sacred Heart Basilica in Paris for “fun” because it’s magnificent and the first time in 30 years I was in a church. I sat in there a while, asked God if I was on the wrong path and if so, guide me. I was always spiritual but felt lost and filled it with witchcraft. After my trip I felt compelled to read the Bible and have been ever since. This year I’ve come back to Christianity and felt like my mind and spirit has been cleansed from all the brainwashing the devil has influenced on me with the witchcraft and negative things in society I couldn’t see before. I’m working on destroying all my craft stuff, getting that out and as I do I feel like demons are trying to prevent me. Last night 5 tornados swept thru my area, one went by my home just a mile away, the hail was so loud and lightning all around, I just started praying to Jesus and felt comfort. I wasn’t afraid and everything is fine. I hope no one else out there was hurt, too.
Thank you for your way into a difficult topic as this – that you were not mainly focused as so many on bashing the person, but, to explaining what the Bible tells, and relate why certain ideas much more than people are good or bad. That is what we need to hear. It is the Word of God that will set us free much more than opinions of men.
The mega church my kids attend hosted a fall event called a “Ballon Glow” with 8 fullsize hot air balloons filled and lit up at sunset as a community outreach. I was dismayed that the music played during this festival was all worldly, secular but the worst was when I heard some one say over the loud speaker “Are there any “Swifties” in the house?” Then played secular a Taylor Swift song that had a message about her sexual fantasies about her boyfriend. I could not believe it!
I came here exactly to get guidance on this. When I was a teenager, I loved her songs, I was a die hard Selena Gomez fan, then when her music started becoming weird, I switched to Taylor Swift, but never felt the need to become any Swiftie coz I was from a good Christian spiritual background. Then I went to Uni lost track of all her updates . Found God in a person level in Uni and got the band ” for King and Country ” as my favourite. I loved to listen to their songs, it brought me more and more closer to God. I had totally forgotten about the pop singers. Lately when her Eras tour began, my coworkers were going crazy. Then I thought to myself, yup TS was someone I used to listen to, it’s like seeing an old friend, I started listening to her songs just to update where has she reached. Some of her songs are nice to listen, but then there came lots of songs where she is talking about Karma, her reputation era is all about snakes. I felt she changed. 😢 she had a nice guy in her life, why did they break up? I started thinking about it. I kept listening to more of her songs to find a reason. But I started diverting away from prayer, was not feeling like playing “King and country ” songs anymore. Then I thought of googling is TS still a Christian? Her songs and interviews have changed. And I came across this article and I thank God for it. I could feel a change in myself for few days. God save her 😢. I feel bad for her, she has scope to change. The evil force is so strong.
I think she started out innocent. She just wanted to write and perform her songs. Fame took hold her. I think many, if not all artists who get to this level of fame, have signed away their souls. They get promoted to a very strange level that other artists who are much more talented but never reach the same level of fame, and most of those artists talk about not signing away their lives. Artists like Taylor never talk about that, and they all follow the same script and narrative. Think of Beyonce, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga…etc.
Don’t forget the more we think about something, talk about or look at it we are putting energy in that thing. The more energy you put on something the more powerful it becomes. So even know this article is speaking truth and many articles like it. Don’t put time and energy in her or the people they talking about but focus your energy on the message PLEASE! You might not get this comment or understand it. But if you pray on this comment what I’m saying will get understood. It all boils down to energy in this world and what you spend your energy on shapes your life and peoples close to you life’s also.
I’ve found myself playing the music article called “Anti-Hero” a number of times. At first I thought it was because I liked the retro-70s vibe, but then I found myself replaying this song too much and even had trouble sleeping one night. I didn’t know or look into those other songs/music articles she has made, but it looks too disturbing for me to want to even look at. Even if her other music articles are not that bad, you can’t help but wonder, if there is still some dark undercurrent that might seep into those more neutral articles and cause unintended “spiritual” reactions or have some type of spell in and of itself. It’s allot to process here and I’ll look into this article again before I replay this “Anti-Hero” music article again. (ie Anti-Hero was discovered on youtube last week although it has been around for a year, I just recently discovered it).
I attended a women’s bible study yesterday where the speaker used Taylor Swift concert tickets as her example of FOMO (she wanted to attend the concert). It reminded me of the importance of wisdom and discernment when sitting under the teaching of other women who profess to be 3rd-4th generation Christians. I felt incredibly uncomfortable and unsure, not knowing if the speaker was aware of TS’s dramatic departure. I thought the agenda/spirit behind her music was clear when TS began promoting gender and queer theory through her articles.
I appreciate the perspective! I have a few siblings quite a bit younger than I and have shared this with them to get their thought on this matter, not even just as it regards to Swift. Witch craft seems to be becoming more prevalent in America with our younger generations and I really believe they don’t understand the true ramifications of getting involved in these things. So thanks for opening up the conversation! I truely appreciate the work you and your wife have allowed God to use y’all for. Bless you both!
I used to love Taylor Swifts music when I was growing up but grew out of it. When I heard the song Karma I was put off instantly. Thank you for explaining the meaning behind her other music and for going more indepth so that we can learn more about things that we don’t understand. Young Christian woman don’t understand how powerful music is till we hear more people speak about it.
I was a fan when her songs were still wholesome and her image was so innocent and naive. I thought she was different from other singers in Hollywood but I was wrong. The 2009 VMAs and her song You Belong with Me, I believe, are the two events that foreshadowed what route her career was about to take.
I appreciate this article. Although I have not ever voluntary listened to Taylor Swift, or any other modern artist like her, the fact that we WILL inevitably be exposed to them, especially if we are heeding the great commission, highlights to me a vital point few are making in this age of division: “Greater is He that is in me, than he that is in the world.”
Hi Vlad. Let me share 2 things here. It’s quite lengthy so please bear with me.☺️ First is about the so-called Love Spell. Here in the Philippines, that is known as Gayuma or Lumay. Although I have no family or friend that I know of who have been subjected to or engaged to such, I’ve heard countless stories that once the gayuma or lumay gets “expired”, the couple will surely become hateful of each other, especially the one being casted the spell towards his/her perpetrator. Often, people just throw jokes about couples where one of them isn’t that physically attractive or good-looking and that the other was just na-gayuma or under the other person’s love spell. And it sounds very judgy really. Second is about being influenced by the singer or the songs we listen to. As you’ve said, when you listen to an artist who loves God, you can really feel that in his/her songs. In my case, there is this one song entitled “Your Love” by Alamid, who really touched me the first time I heard it. Back in 2011, I attended a small group sharing where my leader-friend threw a question “What secular song do you find godly, or has a Christian sense or meaning on it?” Than the very first song that popped in my head is that “Your Love”. We also explained the lyrics why we thought it has God’s inspiration despite being considered as a secular song. Then fast forward to 2015, the vocalist of that band who also composed the song, the late Gary Ignacio, was featured in a news magazine show, where he revealed that he actually composed the song for Gospel or church purposes, apart from the notion of most people that he dedicated it to his wife.
I saw a documentary on the music industry and the demonic stronghold it has on its singers and fans alike. Taylor Swift i believe is a reincarnated witch from the 1800’s. Very powerful witch, or demon if you will that can hypnotize and subdue her listeners. If you want proof of this there is a phenomenon that people cannot even remember the concert they went too. I honestly believe through her lyrics, music, and demonic imagery that people literally have breakdowns, scream fanatically, even as far as passing out. The stories I’ve heard of what people do to see her live, example of this is a girl who bought an expensive dress specifically to go to a overpriced concert, the night before the concert a fire engulfed the family home, as she sat there crying perusal the home going up in flames, a fireman asked if there was anyone else inside and she proceeded to tell the fireman about this dress in her room. The fireman ran into the inferno specifically to save the dress, she did not try to stop the fireman from risking his life for a freaking dress, I’m not saying he isn’t a good man but for her to let a man risk his life for a material object just speaks to the fact that she cared not about the house burning but about a dress she was gonna wear to a freaking Taylor Swift concert. The next evening when the family was digging through the charred relics of their family home and their lives, she still left her family to go to the concert. Left her grieving parents and little brother to sort through the families charred home to salvage things from their lives and figure out the next step in their lives after everything was burnt to a crisp, she is hooting and hollering and crying happy tears at a Taylor Swift concert, screaming her name and reaching over others to just touch this evil witch, if that isn’t idolatry i do not know what is.
Thanks Vlad, may God bless you and your family. I love gospel and some Country music. When Taylor first started sing her music was good. When she left the Country music genre I stopped listening. Her music change dramatically. I’m in my 50’s, I see what is happening and my heart breaks. I can see how even my life was manipulated. I never had time or should I say I didn’t take time to stay in God’s word. But in February I had a second injury at work and been off . I started perusal YouTube learning from Real news, WHO, WEF, Jabs,Wars, corrupt government, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, ect.. I was like WOW!!! Blew the dust off my Bible major conviction. Now with your YouTube website along with people like Amir Tsarfati, Johnathan Cahn, Perry Stone, Jack Hibbs, Julie Green(on Rumble) my Rededication to Jesus was a no Brainer. Thank you, I believe God has blessed you in reaching many more people than you realize.
I stopped to listen to secular music when I started yielding to Holy Spirit. When the moment I did surrender to Holy Spirit the first He told me to stop to hear secular music and delete every secular music in my local folder and unsubscribe everything from every artist. I didn’t know I just obeyed but now I know. Thank you, Holy Spirit🙏❤🔥
Thank you so much for this message. I do not listen to TS music as I am older than her generation, but I have been hearing the same things about people involved in the Entertainment industry for years. I am so glad that you are bringing this to YouTube where it can reach many people and hopefully the word will be spread about this subject. It is heartbreaking to see all of the kids and young adults being taken in by this who do not have the foundation to recognize what is happening. To God be the Glory
I was invited by a coworker to listen to some of her music on her Playlist at first I didn’t think much of it. But after a little while I was becoming more and more enticed to the artist and her music and desensitized and them eventually I become disillusioned. (Lying spirit) and Prideful (levithian spirit)
I was convicted about listening to Taylor Swift in the very early days of her music which I tried to fight as she had an image of a Christian, country singer so I couldn’t understand why but slowly there were signs like one of her music articles being shot in a cemetery (her song for one of the Hunger Games movies) that really made me see why I should stop listening to music. Her concerts with snakes and witchy themes were still a shock to me though. Media has become so dark and demonic. Really loved your article and explanation of karma! Even as a Christian we can repeat some of these new age sayings (like you’ve been a good person so it’ll come back to you) without even realising how dangerous it is.
First of all thank you Pastor Vlad for bringing this topic into light. I definitely agree with all the teachings you mentioned. As an actor/ artist, this serves as a warning too. I believe there is a call to action on our part too to really pray for the entertainment industry particularly those artists who were once believers of Christ to come back to where they really belong… to Jesus. God bless you and I will continually to listen to your podcasts.
Thanks Vlad for the explanation! Definitely was an eye opener for me, cause’ whenever I listened to her past songs which I mean is still such a big hit for me, it gives me nostalgic memories of my emotional younger years. I didn’t realized about witchcraft, although I’ve watch the willows mv once. So thanks for pointing that out. The last song that I listened to was “Back to December”, and it only brought back the same old feeling that isn’t joyful but abit depressing and sad. With me recently, doing my best to be alert with my spiritual life, I’m more aware of the songs that won’t sway me back to confusion or unnecessary feelings that would disrupt my spritual viewpoints and walk with the Lord.
This past Sunday our children’s leader spoke for the duration of the service. She is in her late 20s. One of the first things she said was she was a swifty, a huge fan of Taylor Swift. This is a foursquare church. Please pray for the leaders in our churches. The little kids in my church really look up to their leader and see all she does, right or wrong
I’m so tired of seeing everyone on Instagram posting about going to her concerts. It’s a very big problem right now because many many people who call themselves christians are listening to whatever they want because they don’t think it will affect them. I used to listen to some Taylor Swift and watch Harry Potter movies even though my parents warned me to stay away from it until I started learning that christians can still get demons. And there are real consequences for doing things and listening to things that God doesn’t like.
I just thought about what happened to Britney Spears. In 2002 she did a documentary three days in mexico. In this doc she went to a psychic and got her palm read and a tarot reading. I think this is why her life went down hill years after that until today. Britney was also a Christian but shows off new age books on her instagram. What she opened back in 2002 must of been a portal for things to go wrong in her life. Also in the documentary her concert was on an outside open stage and the last few days her concert went a bit wrong and it started pouring down and they had to cut a lot of songs out and shorten it.
We truly have to guard our hearts and minds….I love music…it gets me going and I enjoy it but there is certain music I can’t listen to as a single person because I want to guard my heart…and mind from fantasies and images…same thing goes for what I watch too. Praying for anyone strain this area…you can overcome with Christ 🙏🏾
It’s so intriguing to me that I came across this article, as I was thinking just the other day about my confusion with her. I’m a musician (vocal, guitar) and I never felt much interest in this musician so I’m pretty unfamiliar with her — but I’ve been struck by the interest in her by everyone around me. Sure she is pretty and she is talented — to a degree (in my opinion her beauty and voice is fine and nothing so fabulous) — but all the hype just didn’t seem to match up with the artist, in my opinion. Her concert apparently made the ground shake and she’s reaching levels of stardom above all musicians in history?? Wow. I just don’t get it. In fact, one day I heard her new music playing while shopping and I didn’t know it was her music. I found the vocals to be extremely piercing to my ears, and even irritating. I asked a friend who was with me who in the world was singing this awful-sounding song and my friend said it was Taylor Swift. Yikes… For all those reasons, what this article claims makes 100% sense to me. I can’t think of any other explanation for some average pretty girl with an average-good voice and mediocre acting skills to be praised above all musical artists in history. It just doesn’t make sense. But now — selling your soul to the devil — that does.
I grew up in the 60’s and I listened to to blues, and to bands like Santana, Rolling Stones, Who. I have always wondered why I could not remember things from my childhood. Then you said that some of these entertainers cast spells. Now it makes sense. I was entrenched into the music, the dances all of it. Now I look back at this, and what you said makes sense. God has been with me all the time, but sometimes I chose to ignore him. He is now by my side all the time.
Vlad, thank you for doing this important article. It’s critical in these times to have a solid biblical explanation of why TS’s songs/videos are not just entertainment or artistic expression. Many Christian youth and young adults I know say you can’t hold TS to biblical standards because she’s not a believer, yet they don’t perceive the influence she is having on them through their ear and eye gates😔
thankyou for this. i watchedd this article with my children and they said they stopped following her music since it started feeling odd. it’s been a long time now since they sensed something strange..they liked her old music though when her career started. they also stopped listening to BTS songs after their album that has illumina ti concept. what a waste.. when God blessed their talents, success clouds their view and abandons God for fame and to please people.
All the songs pastor Vlad mentioned were my favourite till the very last minute like willow was my absolute favourite song and now I’ve rewatched it and now I realised that the enemy has found a way to get into my heart through her songs. I’m surrendering myself to the most high God and I’m more than grateful cuz the article popped up on my YouTube. Thank you for your unending grace Jesus❤🙌🏼
I went to her concert and remember everything. 👀 I think most people have this “amnesia”because they’re legitimately exhausted. Hours preparing by getting ready, long commutes, waiting in line in the heat for hours for merch and to get inside, and then waiting 2hrs to leave the parking lot to get home—one can become quite delirious. Most concerts don’t require this type of energy. Don’t come for me 🙈 As far as everything else re: her lyrics and performances. I don’t know enough and want to research more. But as far as the amnesia that’s my rationale. 🤷🏻♀️
