The solar season, a month-long period when the sun is aligned with each zodiac sign, is a significant event for every sign in the zodiac. The Aries season, ruled by Mars, is full of light and ene, marking the beginning and end of the zodiac and astrological year. The zodiac wheel divides the year into twelve distinct seasons, each aligned with one of the zodiac signs.
The 2024 Libra new moon and solar eclipse can support long-term visions, as Mars in Cancer forms a new moon just ahead of the solar eclipse. The solar eclipse on October 2 is the first of its kind in the zodiac, marking a time of powerful surprises, changes, and transformations.
Eclipse season is in full swing, with the second season running from September 2 to October 16, 2024. Eclipses often bring breakthroughs, changes, and transformations, as the moon rules emotions and intuition. Eclipses are usually in pairs, coinciding with new moons and full moons, as solar and lunar eclipses, respectively. They appear in a family of signs that are related to each other.
This eclipse is asking for rethinking daily routines, structures of work, living, and integration. Eclipses have portended large-scale metamorphosis, status-quo shake-downs, shifts in authority and power, and collective transformation. Although the solar eclipse will impact all zodiac signs, it will have a greater influence on Aries, Libra, Cancer, and Capricorn.
Intense healing is expected for these zodiac signs, such as Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio. The 2024 solar eclipse is increasing interest in the astrology behind the cosmic event.

What is solar in astrology?
Solar astrology, based on traditional zodiac signs like Aries, Taurus, or Gemini, focuses on the sun’s position at birth, providing insight into our identity, ego, and self-expression. Lunar astrology, on the other hand, focuses on the moon’s position at birth, providing insight into our deeper feelings and subconscious behaviors. For example, an Aries’ moon sign may indicate quick, independent, and emotional behavior. Understanding our moon sign helps us understand how we handle emotions, make choices, and manage relationships.
What is the difference between a lunar month and a solar month?
A lunar month is approximately 29 days in length, whereas a calendar month is 30 or 31 days in length. This discrepancy is due to the fact that a calendar month follows the solar year, which is the time it takes for Earth to orbit the Sun.
Is your solar return your birthday?
A solar return occurs annually on or near a person’s birthday, when the sun returns to the same location in the sky as it was at birth, according to astrologer Julia Mihas from San Francisco.
What does eclipse season mean spiritually?
Eclipse seasons occur twice a year, once in the spring and again in the fall, and are believed to spur unpredictable and rapid change in modern spirituality. These short weeks are said to illuminate hidden truths and plant seeds for new storylines to grow. As you navigate the emotions, upheaval, and magic of eclipse season, embrace the unexpected and travel with your instincts. The oncoming changes may lead to a more fulfilling life, but may require leaving your comfort zone.
What are solar eclipses good for?
Total solar eclipses offer a unique opportunity to study Earth’s atmosphere under unusual conditions. These eclipses change Earth’s illumination under a small region of the Moon’s shadow, allowing for the study of the Sun’s effects on the upper atmosphere, where the Sun’s energy creates a layer of charged particles called the ionosphere. This region is crucial for understanding low-Earth orbit satellites and communications signals, as changes there can significantly impact technology and communication systems.
NASA funded 11 scientific studies during the 2017 total solar eclipse, which allowed scientists to observe the eclipse from the ground over an hour. The data collected from the 2017 eclipse helped develop models for predicting the corona during the 2019 eclipse over Chile and Argentina, and the 2021 eclipse over Antarctica. These models help predict how solar material travels outward from the Sun, ultimately manifesting as disturbances in near-Earth space, known as space weather.
What happens during the eclipse season?
An eclipse season occurs when the Sun is close enough to one of the Moon’s nodes to allow an eclipse to occur. It lasts from 31 to 37 days and recurrences about every 6 months. At least two or at most three eclipses will occur during every eclipse season due to the 15-day gap between a full moon and a new moon. If an eclipse occurs at the beginning of the season, there is enough time (30 days) for two more eclipses. The eclipse season is longer than the synodic month, which is about 29.
5 days. The Moon will be new or full at least two or three times during the season. Eclipse seasons occur slightly shy of six months apart, occurring every 173. 31 days – half of an eclipse year. If the last eclipse of an eclipse season occurs at the beginning of a calendar year, there are still time before the end of the calendar year for two full eclipse seasons, each having up to three eclipses.
What to avoid during a solar eclipse in astrology?
On the Solar Eclipse 2024, it is important to consider the colors you should wear to connect with God, especially Surya Dev, who is associated with energy, leadership, vitality, and confidence. Black, Indigo, Silver, Gold, and Purple are all suitable colors for this occasion. Black symbolizes mystery and the unknown, while Indigo is associated with intuition and wisdom. Silver represents purity and enlightenment, while Gold symbolizes prosperity and abundance. Purple is associated with royalty and spirituality, and wearing purple can enhance spiritual connection.

White symbolizes surrender, which may represent giving in to negativity during the eclipse. Bright colors can be jarring and distracting, so opt for more subdued tones to focus on the celestial event.
A total solar eclipse occurs when the Moon moves directly between the Earth and the Sun, blocking the Sun’s light and casting a shadow on parts of the Earth. The Moon’s orbit is slightly oval-shaped, and its distance from the Earth changes as it moves around. When the Moon crosses the path of the Sun’s orbit, it aligns perfectly with the Earth, creating a total solar eclipse. However, not every time the Sun, Moon, and Earth line up results in a total solar eclipse. Sometimes, partial eclipses occur where only part of the Sun is covered, or there might not be an eclipse at all.

Thank you Kelly! Perhaps this is the opposite of an eclipse, but for some reason as you talked I found myself reminded of this sonnet by Edna St Vincent Millay ❤️ When I too long have looked upon your face, Wherein for me a brightness unobscured Save by the mists of brightness has its place, And terrible beauty not to be endured, I turn away reluctant from your light, And stand irresolute, a mind undone, A silly, dazzled thing deprived of sight From having looked too long upon the sun. Then is my daily life a narrow room In which a little while, uncertainly, Surrounded by impenetrable gloom, Among familiar things grown strange to me Making my way, I pause, and feel, and hark, Till I become accustomed to the dark. The eclipse for me is/was in my third house, and I’m finding my living environment increasingly unbearable (dirty, grim, and depressing). I definitely need to find a job and a new situation.
Moon in Libra, 3rd house. I have decluttered and minimised my entire life over the past 12 months. My challenge has been to accept the reality of and to let go of being remotely important in my mother’s life. I took stock of the enormous effort to keep regular contact to realise that when I don’t make that effort, there is no contact. It’s been a tough process, 58 years of age, Aries Sun, cancer rising, libran moon fighting rir fairness, consideration and inclusion. There simply isn’t a place set for me at her table. I am looking forward to this solar eclipse to help me complete and reflect on this journey.
Capricorn rising here. This Libra eclipse lands on my 10th house making a conjunction to my native Mercury Pluto conjunction and I am at home on rest orders. I came down with a nasty virus that triggered my asthma. I started a new job roughly 90-days ago and I’m wondering if I made the right decision. Ironically my old boss reached out to me. I pulled the 4 of Swords on this matter…the ‘relief from strife’ card, so I’m engaged in self-care, doctor mom activities…just took a long bath with lemon slices, eucalyptus and lavender essential oils and Dead Sea salt to get rid of negative energy, fight off free radicals and cleanse my aura…
Thank you from Australia! 🇦🇺 Libra stellium in the 7th house with: Mercury @ 7°, Venus @ 9°, both Mars and Pluto @ 10°. Also, in the 7th house is Virgo Sun @ 16°. Also, Pisces Ascendant and Moon @ 13° & 25° respectively. Also, Saturn in the 5th @ 11° Leo. Ah, yes, Kelly, it’s been very emotional and challenging! What transformative life changes await at the other end? Hmmm… I have some hunches. I guess we’ll see. Thanks so much for your insight, @KellysAstrology!
Hello from Portland, Oregon! Libra is my whole sign 12th house /11th in Placidus. I’ve been in a recluse mode for six months since an old friend died and working through a lot of feelings, beliefs, thought patterns and shadow work. I feel like I’ve done a lot of healing though. Finances have definitely been stressful, but are gradually improving. Thank you for your great astro insights!
Hi Kelly this is the first time I’ve listened to you. You popped up in my feed. Slot of what you said resonated with me. My journey particularly since October last year has been about surrender and detachment from external and going within and trusting that life will unfold. More recently the theme of connection has resurfaced for clearing yet more layers and deep karmic feelings of rejection and non acceptance. Physical issues intensifying and throat infection now as well. Lots of purging, clearing, alchemising feelings and cocooning myself from others for now as I feel drawn to self healing.
On the eclipse, I’m going to quit a freelance gig that seemed great but turned out to be real shitty (less pay than originally implied, tight turnaround, work is lame and mind-numbing)!! 🎉 This is going to be the last time I accept jobs just for the ‘safety’ of a (not even that) regular paycheck. – Virgo rising
Libra Rising – I have been going through a massive healing/transformation journey for 5.5 years now. I don’t think tomorrow will be the cherry on top, but I am looking forward to consider what other behaviors/attitudes that I can release since they no longer serve me. I’m actually looking forward to it. Hoping to clear out what no longer resonates so new and better has room to grow 🙂
Yikes some brutal endings lately and letting go. My own south node is in Libra. Libra is also in my 5th house where I have a stellium of Jupiter 1 degree libra, PLuto 24 degrees virgo, uranus 3 degrees libra and mars 11 degrees libra. My nervous system is shot this week from the rage induced cleansing in relationships, weeding out bullying behaviour and calling it out and making very clear decisions about how I want to be treated going forward. Only really understand simple astrology and would love a more in depth meaning to this last year!
Hello! Libra is my descendant and I have Uranus retrograde in Scorpio in the 7th house. Found out a little over a year ago my husband has been cheating on and off for 4+ years. I asked for a separation, now in the throes of figuring out ending the marriage and moving on. This eclipse and your reading are spot on.
This is happening conjunct -1 degree my Natal South Node and it is my Wife’s Lunar Return. She is also a Leo Sun. This should be a ton of fun for us. This is impacting my 10th House of Career and her 6th House of Routine. It is really interesting seeing how much I am shedding the old image of myself and how I show up in the world and how I want to be seen. There are such major shifts happening in my life right now. I have my Natal Saturn in the mix squaring it all. I am definitely curious to see how things play out over the next few days. Thank you for your guidance!
Thank you, Kelly! Libra rising at 22 degrees here. I have a lot of cap and cancer placements so this is squaring a lot for me and there’s so much to navigate. A major theme is stepping back from a complex relationship situation even though our feelings are strong for each other because I need to prioritize my needs. Feeling conflicted. I am very curious (and admittedly a little nervous) as to how this will connect to the Aries eclipse in the spring of 2025.
It will be an interesting Solar Return for me! Oct 2nd is my birthday. Sun 8’50 in the 7th house and SNode is also in Libra @28 degrees. My SRetun rising will be in Libra (I have a day chart and my Venus is in fall in Virgo @ 0 degrees) Saturn profection year (in my natal 1st house making a 0.2 strong opposition to my natal sun) Wish me luck!!
Thank you so much for this, it is making so much sense to me. I have south node in Libra, 12th house. Please can you share more on how I can manage best during this time? I have been experiencing a lot of uncertainty but also deepening spirituality just as you describe! Thank you again, I appreciate any advice you have x
Taurus rising here! It’s hitting my 6th house and I’ve changed workplaces 3 times this year. I’m looking for a job or an income source that will keep my stress and a minimum because I’ve gotten physically sick from it. And wow, an underlying health condition just came to light a few weeks ago and I won’t be able to see a specialist until January 2025. I’m taking it into my own hands to change my lifestyle, and diet. Astrology is 😅
Libra H2 exact opposite to Sun in 8th. A lot going on re expenses and asking “is this really worth it?” Or can I find a less expensive way to do this etc. involves being more careful while finding a balance. Maybe giving something up in order to afford something else. Also, very much about Leo H 12 issues. Lots of mysterious health issues going on. Many tests. One on eclipse day. Looking forward to more clarity afterward. Really caught up in this cycle. Thank you, Kelly ❤
This one has me nervous too. I’m still in my Saturn return. The Lunar eclipse occurred in my first house where I have Saturn and Chiron. My Sun is at 10 degrees of Libra in my 8th House (conjunct my Mercury), so the eclipse hits it directly. Pluto is conjunct my natal moon as well. Both my parents are poorly, and the doctor has ordered a biopsy for a mark on my face, which I’ll have done on the 2nd. Fun times. On a more positive note, we have just had a contract come through on the sale of a legacy property.
SO helpful, thank you! Oh! Boy! You are spot on! I’m having a massive but slow clear out at home! Venus, sun and merc. in 1st house in scorpio: Libra asc. Neptune in libra also in 12th! NN in pic. in 5th. Hmmmm….I’m hiding and thinking about everything but just for your info…I’m eating like a pig and don’t know why!😱 Saturn in virgo so I’m sure I’ll work it out eventually! Thankful I have moon in Leo! Great Kelly, all the best! x
I try not to stress regarding transits of any kind but this eclipse has me nervous to say the least. Libra is my 4th house, and Pluto is at 10° in my natal chart, which also happens to be directly atop a fixed star which i am currently blanking on its name but anywho. My part of fortune will be conjuct the transiting part of fortune at the time of this eclipse, in my 6th, directly squaring my natal moon in Leo. Ummmm…
This is SO ME right now! I have been lacking any energy this past week! I was doing great dieting exercise and now ZAP! No energy! Helping with 4 grandchildren a lot and it’s too much! Hard to talk to their mom she’s 27 mars Scorpio and cancer moon very volatile! My midneaven is 4 Libra and I’m retired so what does 10th house mean when no more career? So hard to get off my couch lately! Ugh!
Mercury in the 12 th will be squaring my natal Saturn 11’24″Venus 11‘47″ in first sextiling natal Saturn. Transiting saturn 14’14″conjunct my south node 15’19″ ♓️ & opposite natal sun at 13’21″ Virgo.jupiter 21’16″ conjunct natal mars 21’41″ Gemini in the 8th Mars 15’47″ sextile natal north node 115’29″ Virgo
