Tesla has introduced its “Magic Dock” Superchargers in the U.S., allowing other electric vehicle (EV) brands to charge. The chargers are designed to get over a big gap and are equipped with a Magic Dock connector that allows non-Tesla EVs to top-up their vehicles. The Magic Dock is built into the Tesla Super Charger and allows CCS cars to use the Super Charger.

There are three types of Tesla Superchargers: Tesla-only Superchargers, which only work for Tesla vehicles; All EVs Superchargers, which are available for all EVs to charge with a “Magic Dock” adapter provided at the charging post; and NACS Superchargers, which will become available gradually by vehicle manufacturer and can be accessed through an adapter.

The first of these stations with universal connections, known as “Magic Dock” units, have been spotted in upstate New York. The chargers are designed to get over a big gap and are hailed as a game-changing EV accessory by many circles, especially Tesla fans.

To find a Supercharger site with Magic Docks installed, you need to find a Supercharger site with the CCS adapter built into the charger handle. Montrose, Colorado, and Kremmling, Colorado now have magic docks, but they are not appearing on the “charge my non-Tesla EV” map within the Tesla app yet.

Tesla has made another rare expansion of its Magic Dock Superchargers for non-Tesla electric cars in North America, opening the Supercharger network to non-Tesla EVs. The operational magic dock connectors are now listed on the Tesla Supercharger map online.
