There’s so many things wrong with this: 1. Just because he’s born in captivity doesn’t mean he isn’t a wild animal. 2. He has very little enrichment activities in his cage 3. He doesn’t have any earth or natural habitat – it’s just concrete inside his enclosure 4. He doesn’t even have any water in the pool. Tigers love swimming in water 5. He has nowhere to jump up to. That’s important for muscle strength and so on. 6. He was pacing back and forth in the cage which is a sign of stress. 7. Using animals as an attraction is probably a sign that his interests are not at heart. I would compare it closer to bears in cages outside restaurants in Romania than not-for-profit zoos 8. How can he say Tom is happy? He doesn’t know, he’s just saying that in the hope that people believe him
His “custom enclosure”? You mean a 12×20 glass box with a concrete floor? I’ve seen Mexican truck stops with nicer living areas for an animal. How PETA hasn’t shut this shit show down is beyond me. If you’re gonna have a live Tiger as a mascot, at least pony up the dough for something like LSU has for Mike. I mean really? Acting proud about this insult to one of nature’s most noble. awesome beasts? What a complete joke. No wonder no one else in the country knew Memphis had a live mascot, they’re probably too ashamed to let anyone outside the fan base know about it.
