The Mascot Of Broward College?

Sammy the Seahawk, a famous seahawk, is the mascot of Broward College, a public college in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The college is part of the Florida College System and offers several associate and baccalaureate degree programs. The college’s brand personality is that of a sincere, competent educator who enables students to reach their potential academically, professionally, and personally.

Browward College was founded in 1960 and has a total undergraduate enrollment of 29,140 (fall 2023). Its campus size is urban and its mascot is Sammy the Seahawk. The college competed in collegiate sports from 1962 until 2021. The Junior College of Broward County opened its doors to its first class of 701 students in fall of 1960.

The Seahawk mascot logo is available for use as an artistic mark on student-focused materials and College team branding. Principal Most says that Sammy the Seahawk has become a staple at school events and that Spartans look for him at every venue. The college mascot, Sammy the Seahawk, showed students how to put their hands together to create the Seahawks hand gesture.

In September 2023, Broward College welcomed its first female president, Dr. Barbara Bryan, who believes education is the great equalizer and the mission of the College is to provide a seamless educational pathway for students in Florida.
