📹 Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era – Official Reveal Trailer
The classic turn-based strategy game series returns to PC (via Steam Early Access) with Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, …
I’m highly sceptical, but I’ll give it the benifit of a doubt. I still have higher hopes for the new Heroes, than for Civ VII. After being disappointed by Firaxis for so many times I’m not even perusal the teaseres. Of course I’ll still wait for a few independent reviews of Heroes before spending my money.
I have been waiting for almost 10 years after the 7th. I hope there will also be a collector’s boxed version. I’m sure it’s not just me who is so obsessed that I bought several versions. I’ve been following the Might And Magic series since the first part was released in 1995, not just the heroes. 1994 Wold of Xeen is still my favorite. Might & Magic X is Favorite!!!
The Might and Magic game that first mentioned Jadame (as separate from a specific region that would later be confirmed to be in Jadame) also took place in Jadame (for those unfamiliar with the series, that’d be Might and Magic VIII: Day of the Destroyer), so that part of the description is flat-out wrong. But then, the article on Ubisoft’s site also has the Dark Elves of Jadame be underground dwellers, so clearly the designers aren’t at all familiar with Day of the Destroyer.
Great! I hope our great composer friend Paul Romero will return! Also that again we can help translate it to HUN ! We helped in H6-7. Also in mod translates. Also now i translated demo of Steam demo of Silence of Siren and soon (scifi Heroes 3-4like) EA version of it. So i would happily help to translate to HUN the new great Heroes game! I play this series since 1996! Every part! Thank you!
It would be awesome to include style of game where you can play your friend but you don’t both have to be in game at the time. This way people who already have families, limited time could still play game with their old pals. You simply do your moves whenever you are free and let the other guy know that you are done and within a day or two he does his moves.
The old book of spells(HOMM3) looked a lot more unique, the new updated visuals of the book remind me of LOL. But Paul Romero is a MUST HAVE, the OG soundtrack was nostalgic, unforgettable and it is in large parts what made HOMM3 one of the best if not the best game out of the series, in my years playing the series, no other game has left an impression like HOMM3 and HOMM Olden Era has, from what we can see, a return to its roots, and i hope it is the slam dunk all fans want
In the steam page I see that there are 6 factions. I was hoping for the 8 classical, but this looks ok for start. Looking at units – they have a feeling of HoMM3 & HoMM5 combination. I’m not sure about the “Hive (Demonic Insectoids)”… But what I see, looks good! I saw “Fortress” creatures and hope that I can play my favorite Lizard-men 🙂 I do hope that the creatures of “Rampart”, “Stronghold” and “Tower” (from HoMM3) will also be in game! And the dwarves (Fortress) from HoMM5 were unique and I hope that they appears in the future (DLC?), plz.
The only issue is the company that makes it. I still was not ale to finish that 1 match with my friend in the latest heroes, because the bugs were never fixed. HoMM3 is kept alive by GoG and literally any other source aside from Bugisoft. HoMM3 is my most nostalgic game, but let’s be honest, who trust in a company that can’t even get autosave to work in a 100bucks game SW Outlaws….
Damn, glad this series is coming back but what happened to the world of Ashan? The lore and it’s characters just scrapped like that? I was hoping this series is gonna come back and continue the story of heroes 5 or some important event in the lore of Ashan, rip to my boy Raelag and Zehir, also Kiril from heroes 6,we never gonna find out what happened to Raelag when he went east 😅😂
I hope it’s good and I feel a bit mixed, saw some old looking units like the hobbit and skeleton and combat looked quite stunning, but I still get some mobile game vibes like the magic book didn’t capture the Homm3 feel at all. But I feel hopeful! Hope to see more gameplay next time. Please don’t ruin this with micro transactions, or forcing to use your launcher, or weird denuvo anti cheat, or anything. Also I hope some people from the older versions of Heroes are working on it, i’m cautiously optimistic !
If this will be a modern HOMM3, I will consider this as my 2025 birthday, Christmas and Easter present. HOMM3 is my all-time favorite game and I cannot tell you how much I disliked the other ones. So much so that I gave up on the series and switched to Civilization 5 and 6. Don’t mess this up, please.
Heroes of might and magic is a terrible game genre for Ubisoft, ubisoft tries too hard to create quantity over quality article games, sell them out quickly and move on. While heroes franchise is something that would fit more of a Civilization franchise business models I hate how they undercook this game everytime You guys have all you need to create a masterpiece, i wish someone else picked up Heroes of might and magic and did justice to this series, i wish i could do that, but man Ubisoft, I’m sorry to say it but you gotta stick to your Silly Assassin’s creed, huge empty open world games
after the uplay based problems of 6 and seven as well as the fact 7 sucked, this one is better be good and on gog also this looks more like a zoomed out songs of conquest skin than homm, part of the fun is appreciating the cool desing of units and decent combat animation, which is part of why 7 was on par with 4, the units were tiny far away sprites. Other points 7 did that was based on 4 aka the game so bad it killed nwc and 3do, were lack of good music, bad campaigns and having unit buildings that prevented the creation of others. if you absolutely want to get people to chose between 2 units, do what you did in tribes of the east and have alternate evolutions. Also bring back the old resources, that was a major fail in 6 and 7.
I watched the trailer, but I’m not as happy as many, on the contrary, I agree with those who doubt it. I write my opinion in such a way that I don’t want to offend anyone, and if you don’t agree with me, write it in such a way that you don’t offend me either. No, I simply don’t feel the “magic” I felt in the previous episodes. First of all (as I’ve written elsewhere) I’m sick of this Heroes III fanaticism. That game is good, it has exciting parts, a cool story, very good characters, but it is not a holy relic and not the best Heroes. It was enough that only part III is the ultimate, the fourth is bad, and the fifth is also bad, because that is a Buggysoft game. Enough! The problem is that I think it will go in the same direction as the Ashan episodes. Shiny graphics, the story has a lot of potential, great opportunities, but the end result is average or quite weak. My problem with the previous parts (as well as with Heroes III and the others) was that there were holes in the story, wasted opportunities, the omission of countless potentials. They’re smaller and bigger, and it’s not an excuse for me if someone grins and says with a hanging tongue emoji that “oh well, there wasn’t time for that, oh, they missed that, they forgot that.” I have a feeling that this game will be the same ship. Another invasion against Erathia, again Sandro and his friends are planning something, again just the usual copy paste from the old games. Era of Chaos and HD did not live up to expectations. If there won’t be a unique story, something really new and “magical”, then this game won’t be either.
“And then The Sword of Frost and Armageddon’s Blade clashed! A blinding flash! Another turn of the page. The destruction brings earthquakes, volcanoes, floods, and deaths uncounted. And acts of bravery too. Just when it seems we are doomed, we flip the page once more, and countless fortunate refugees flee through portals into another world. Is this the end of our tale? No. We are the pawns of fate. There are still many pages to turn. And to all things comes a beginning.”
Looks like typical mobile crappy graphics. Cartoony casual stuff for house-wifes to play during breaks. There are zero new mechanics or ideas shown, feels like a cutout of Heroes 3. This is NOT something that we need. Stop beating on a dead corpse. At least you could have tried to bring something new, or improve further what worked for previous titles… no imagination and no soul – just another money grab aimed at our hopes for a new successor to Heroes 3. Won’t beat HotA.
