I sometimes look in the mirror and ‘see’ me. And for a brief moment I have no association with what I am looking at. I have zero connection and affiliation with what looks back at me. Sometimes it’s scary but occasionally I get an extremely deep sense of looking in at something I don’t recognize nor understand. Those are the moments that intrigue me the most. Anyone else?
My life has sucked so badly throughout most of it because of depression that wasn’t treated well. I’m older now and strangely my depression has eased off. I’m content every day just eating well and getting plenty of rest and sleep and movies and books. And looking forward to the next stage after I die. I’m not afraid to die and I have stage 4 cancer. Doing well with it, too. Right now I am thriving and surviving. I didn’t know I’d feel this good nearing the end of my life, that my depression would ease up. It’s as if I know there’s something much better awaiting me. Also, I now realize that nothing in life really matters except telling your loved ones how much they mean to you. Pray to our Lord and believe in Jesus and his teachings. Forgive your enemies and believe.
I remember in science class in school learning about some sea creature that can see many more colours that a human can’t even perceive. It made me think about what else is out there that we can’t perceive. There could be a whole other world coexisting with our own and we’ll never know because we are blind to it.
We are not really stuck. We CHOSE to have an experience of limitation and disconnectedness. A theme was chosen. We intuit the higher levels, but we don’t understand from whence they originate, but they have the power to transform the VR experience. “OK, let’s see what I can do with this now!” Excellent article!
When going into the unknown is not terrifying anymore, that’s were the fun begins. Connecting to source which has no beginning and no end, that what Is and that what I AM! And at the same time excited in the human experience where nothing is lost and every moment adds to the expansion of the consciousness. Sweet!
The body is a vessel for the soul. Life as we know it, on earth, is but a short passage of time. And we are given freedom in actions, we make decisions but ultimately we are not in control. Life and Death comes to us in a time not chosen by us. We are and always be limited. We know enough to question and find answers, to find the truth, to reflect, to observe and understand all the signs around us that call us to God. We choose to respond. A Muslim.
People used to take lsd in the 1970s to free their mind. However, there seems to be a strong polarity in our Consciousness between what we experience in our headset and what is actually real. I experienced reality without drugs or external stimuli. In my reality, I made myself disabled with a terrible disease thanks to my depression and suppressed rage. During a terrible crisis because I did not have the courage to slash my wrists, I prayed the Divinity to help me, I was truly desperate and bed ridden for years. Suddenly, I felt my soul being ripped from my body and I was a sparkle of Consciousness in a white luminescent room. I felt terrified! When I returned to my body, I gradually became aware that everything is made of energy and it is our Consciousness to create reality. My depression which was actually made of a loop of negative thought patterns, caused my disease and the fact that everybody was angry, violent and rude was because of my anger though I didn’t express it but it was there. I started calming myself down, trying to look at the positive side of everything. When I catch myself thinking about past negative experiences with people prior to my depression, I bless them, forgive them and let go. Sometimes, I have to repeat this process again and again because the mind tries to lead the being but the real being cannot be controlled, it simply is. May you all awake and be blessed!
Well articulated. The path you present is to understand our reality, vs our perception of reality. This is only a detour. As noted in the vid; Such a reality, is not ours. we just wear the visors. The owner/ creator of reality must exist outside space and time, but must be able to enter our temporal existence at will Ladies and Gentlemen, He also loves you enough to die for you.
I’ve been doing IV ketamine treatments for depression. This is describing the literal experiences that I’ve had in that space that transcends everything I’ve experienced here. It’s like a wild sense of dejavu. This is a meat suit that does inhabit space in a structured ruleset that is out universe, but what the universe is in comparison with what feels like such a stronger sense of reality that consciousness here feels like the dream, and where you go once your mind is freed from your physical form is such a profound and amazing view into a fragment of all that there really is isn’t terrifying – it’s actually something that makes me grateful to be able to see this snippet of what is out there, and curious about whatever the next phase of the journey looks like when my bode eventually gives out. Time indeed feels like an illusion. And that’s ok. I’m just an observer who’s had a glimpse enough of what is out there to just enjoy the ride and seeing where it takes me – whatever the hell I am, but this.. This isn’t it. This isn’t even a tiny fragment. Psychedelic treatments didn’t “cure” my depression. It gave me a glimpse of a different perspective to view this life from. Things feel both new and amazing as well as part of a cycle that’s gone on countless times. I’ve either lost my mind, or been given the gift of a glimpse of reality. I just needed something to dissociate me from my biology and chemistry for long enough to not be taken up in the minutia of day to day life. And it’s amazing.
I don’t think we will ever crack the hard problem of consciousness. Call me pessimistic but I think there are equally hard limits to our understanding of reality. Imagine a conscious entity in a game like minecraft or GTA, would they ever be able to fully understand their context in the greater, “real” world? Using only the framework of the game, a supposedly conscious character could never learn about what a real-life article game console is, where they came from, etc. That is, unless someone from “the outside” communicates that reality to them.
Hey y’all. Late to the party but had to ad my 12 cents worth. (inflation ya’know). As I read the comments here in this group it occurs to me that each and everyone of us is absolutely correct…in our own lives. Different opinions but all correct for each voice. Seems that I remember reading somewhere ” As a man thinks in his heart!” So…we are all right. Your belief is the culmination of everything that you have experienced and learned in your life…so therefore you are right…for you. I have seen the reality concept that Hoffman talks about in this article for myself in a “near death experience”. Didn’t understand it for many years but finally figued it out. There are those nay sayers that will poo poo the NDEs. But it was real for me. It set me on a lifelong quest to understand what I saw and Knew at that time. Life is an experience. “God” is far beyond anything we as humans can even begin to conceive. Any human conception of God is man made and therefore is right for you. But may not be right for me or someone else. Enjoy life and let others enjoy theirs. It is not for me to impose my beliefs on anyone else…but we can discuss it. Be of good cheer and peace be in your life!!!
This guy actually has it right. Via Transcendental Meditation TM (not mindfulness) I have experienced levels of consciousness that seem to be outside of time completely, in which I was able to figure out a complex solution to a situation I was in in less than a microsecond… And this of course requires effortlessness.
One more added comment…I worked for the last seven years of my career as a color scientist for a company that made very accurate laser based printing and proofing equipment for the printing industry. I am very aware that color is a subjective human perception that happens in the brain. The stimulus of color perception is electromagnetic radiation. The perception of color only happens when the receptors in the eyes send signals to the brain and the brain perceives color. If you study color science long enough you end up studying neuroscience.
I live in ‘Thoughtless awareness’ it is established not continuous, because I am still free to think whenever I want, however thoughtlessness is the status quo for me now. It is profound and I living in it all my waking hours now since January 10, 2023. It is the best thing that ever happened to me. It feels like living in Heaven on Earth. It is beyond thought, because thoughts are too slow versus being thoughtless, where questions are answered instantly because I am ONE with Source/God/ infinite intelligence. I took me 50 years to find and experience it and yet now I know that it can happen in 1 hour for anyone. I found the Holy Grail to living in the moment Now, one with Source. Good luck to you all. Few on Earth have achieved it and even fewer can show someone else how to do it. I am One.
I’ve been reading the same things in David Icke’s book as well but I am really struggling with the concepts. It was said in the article that something is only real if my mind renders it. If I turn my head and close my eyes because i am not rendering it it isn’t there. Except I can’t walk through my house with my eyes closed and not run into things. They are still there even though my brain isn’t rendering them as my eyes are closed. If I turn my head to the side while driving and run into wall the wall is still there even though not rendered in my head. Even if i don’t hit anything I still know there is a steering wheel there as I can still feel it in my hands. So the concept as explained makes no sense to me. If anyone has anything that will help clear that up or make sense of it it would be greatly appreciated.
Sometimes I feel like I’m the only human in a world full of robots programmed to act like humans or aliens that shape shifted into humans. Sometimes I feel like I’m just an avatar and so is everyone else, but we just don’t know it and our true selves are playing us like a article game in a world where time doesn’t even exist.
It’s amazing how there’s still people out there asleep enough to think ANY of this applies to them if they aren’t even conscious about this ridiculous ego vs soul fight we first have to go thru. You see these people trying to get rich and accumulate physical material thinking they can use a concept that refuses absolutely all material world. its fascinating how the Ego works. It’s never smarter or weaker than the soul it occupies. I feel blessed I was able to open my eyes at a young age, even if it took so much pain and suffering, most of it if not all, self-inflicted subconsciously. It is only when you truly give up on playing their game, this rat race, that you are able to be conscious about what’s truly going on. And it is only then, that you can begin your journey, your ascension (that starts with a big, big depression called the darkness of the soul), towards true illumination, an extremely long journey if you are still affected by the concept of time. We know it’s do-able. It’s been done before. Absolutely all “prophets” of this known civilisation have had the same experiences. The same words. The same problems, The same age… The same exchanges with whom they then call their creator. I think they just had so much misery they hacked the system, it’s the #1 technique used by all hackers/thiefs/mentalists accross our known civilisation. If there is a strength, there is a weakness, if there is a weakness, if time is of no matter, it’s an open door that will ultimately crumble, therefor it is already.
I came to the realisation some years ago that everything meaningful in life ultimately distills to the abstract – something which has no material form and exists only in the mind. It led me to coin what has become my favourite dictum: perception is the whole of the life experience. I wonder whether this fits with what you’re saying here.
I can wrap my head around most of this theory. What throws me off is.. how do we explain music? Are we all really hearing the same thing? Maybe we aren’t. But we’ll never know because you can’t be in someone else’s head. Same with colors. We’ve been told our whole lives what the colors are. But how can we know for sure that your red is the same as my red?
Having spent three hours at the library doing research, I decided to head home for lunch. On Jan. 17, 2000, at 2 pm, while crossing a river bridge in Burswood (Perth, Australia) on my bicycle, I observed a velvet-textured beige pearl covering the sun. Within the entity, there were containers in the shape of elongated, seven-pointed Koch snowflake fractal crystals immersed in a white misty light travelling in a ten o’clock direction. I later considered that the light flashes on the inner space of the crystals might be of a binary language conversion pertaining to the senses of all mortals, that is, a holographic universe.
Dr. you said it yourself “What’s outside the headset is unfathomable.” All we can reach to is an experience of the oneness and vastness of the space that creates and sustains all things; experience its silent generation of all and sustenance of all things in its still presentation. It is where the Buddha sleeps and dreams.
So if you film yourself driving and looking away from the steering wheel and then look at the footage later, you’ll see the steering wheel. Does that mean the steering wheel’s being rendered in the past? Also, surely it must be there to be rendered therefore it must exist even if you’re not looking at it because how else would you be able to render it then and there if it doesn’t exist. No matter how hard I try, I can’t render a steering wheel sitting here in my little office.
💗😊💕I get you. I’d like to share with everyone: We all need to look within instead of outside. There is so much to learn. I’ve learned so many things through dreams and inspiration even from meditation and hypnosis. We are ALL, ONE! Everything each of us hears or sees is projected out of our own ears and eyes. So when we think we are receiving from external, we ourselves projected it. And, WE ARE ALL GOD! Even Jesus tells us, “you are God’s children”. A duck has ducklings, a chicken has chicks. God has Gods/Goddess’s. LIGHT, LOVE AND AWAKE!💕😊💗
This is great! The illusion of a world out there and a me in here is what makes us suffer. It creates a sense of being inadequate and vulnerable. There’s a drive to acknowledge wholeness, yet the wholeness we all seek cannot he understood by a limited mind that is a creation within the wholeness. The ultimate reality is that there is no person. The sense of being a person is a convincing illusion, and is itself an effect created within the wholeness. The person wants liberation- the cosmic joke and paradox of which is that there is no person to be liberated from. You can’t get rid of an illusion. The illusion may crumble and fall apart but there’s nobody there to make that happen! It just happens. Any effort to make it happen is within thinking, and it perpetuates the illusion Clips like this can open a doorway to liberation. Thank you!
I’ve been married for 53 years and sometimes I look at my wife as if for the first time. It’s an extraordinary feeling. No-one else, just my wife.. There are elements of Solipsism in this commentary. As if I’m the only one here and everything else is my imagination. That being the case I must have a fantastic imagination then. No, it’s simpler than that. Solipsism doesn’t work because of all the 7 billion or so people on the earth, each one has the same right to claim that they’re the only human in existence and all else is imagination. There’s nothing at all special about me…
Manny times I spoke to my parents, my girlfriend that we live all in prison, we all have our own cell inside that prison, changing the job, your lifestyle is like changing prison cells, that’s how I feel in this world, limited and sometimes even hopeless, sorry people for being honest. Not so manny understand this life deeper.
I find this idea fascinating. From being little I have been able to see circular waves of invisible energy pulsing before me every now and then. When I look into the blue sky and carry on looking my eyes see trillions of fast moving lights everywhere. More recently, every now and then I get like a white light that goes extremely quickly below my left eye, like I have just scanned something. Fascinating for sure. What I want to know is, if we are all truly wearing a VR headset, then did we choose to put it on or were we forced to?
It’s a very nice narrative to listen to. Honestly, it’s admiring…I really wish to hook up with a similar acception of reality, that is portrayed here above. Unfortunately, there is a vast unknown abis called the “unconscious” that plays an enormous role in our everyday life, and as much I agree with your article and wish to believe in it… I still believe that we don’t have yet the power to control our everyday lives! We are just a reflection of our subconscious, which was built throughout our entire mental experience since we were born.
I have went beyond human sensations. I could see in 360 angle. Seeing and hearing everything without time and focus. Super clarity. My body disappeared, because I was able to see it just what is really. An imagination, a tool. Everything was happening iside me, but the me had no limitation. Our common understanding on what we are and who we are were just a dream.
Now im not saying that God is a fourth dimensional being, he might be way more higher in dimensions than we are, but something I know is that a lower dimension is just a for shadowing of the immediate higher dimension, For example a 3D sphere in 2D is a circle And of course Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” This scripture shows us that we’re just a foreshadowing of the higher dimensional God cause we’re created in his image(the physical body) and likeness(consciousness), The physical body is what interacts with the physical things; “fishes, sea, birds etc The consciousness is what interacts with the things we can’t see, the abstract things; -Love/Hate -Ideas/interests -etc Though we interact with the physical, we are not necessarily physical beings, we’re “spiritual”that’s why nothing in this physical 3D world can satisfy you truly. I’ll end that there I bring this message to you so that you could understand that the Gospel of the holy bible isn’t just a set of stories to share, rules to follow, It is literally everything we as humans have been and what we can be, but It isn’t about Us, we’re not each the main characters of this universe, there’s only one person that matters cause he’s the Beginning and the End, the creator the destruction, the Alpha and Omaga, basically not enough words to describe his significance, He sacrificed all he was entitled to in heaven because the very existence of humans were nothing but destruction, for example take a good look at most historical views of humans and what has impacted us today, stories that lives on from generations to generations -world wars -slavery -colonization In summery, humans only go above and beyond for destruction.
I was able to “tap” into my subconscious once for a brief moment in my early 30s. The amount of knowledge that flowed through my mind and everything I saw and understood about myself was so scary that I’ve never tried it again. I felt like, for me, it was something I wasn’t ready to comprehend and understand so I’ve never tried it again. The feeling it left was also frightening. My life isn’t really that complicated and scary either. I work all day, go home, cook dinner, watch shows or play article games, golf on the weekends, and visit my family a lot but other than that I lead a pretty boring and uncomplicated life so It was quite scary what I saw and felt after meeting my sub-conscious. That’s definitely a no thanks for me to try again. Because no one really knows what consciousness actually is, it’s open to so many interpretations. I can’t say I 100% agree with this gentleman’s explanation of consciousness but it’s definitely something to take into consideration because, at this point, anything is truly possible. I don’t feel like this is any kind of simulation. We definitely have a purpose and a reason here and that can be discovered by sitting down and enjoying a good afternoon of NDE encounters on the YT website “Strange Stories.” Cheers.
I watched this article and thought about something as simple as riding an airplane and how all of us entrust our lives to the flight crew while we are all passangers of the world through their eyes and how for a moment in our lives, we are not actually in control, itsjust mind blowing, hair raising 😂😂😂🙈
When I get into my car, start the motor and begin driving my vehicle on the road, there had better be a physical steering wheel, an accelerator, a brake and a road underneath my car. My car had better be being steered by me with the objective, getting to my destination with the intention of avoiding crashing into physical objects causing wreckage and or death. I wonder how the narrator would respond if a person with a hand gun said he was going to create an experiment involving firing a bullet into his brain after demonstrating the physical reality of the situation by exploding a watermelon with a bullet from the same gun as evidence of this physical reality. Somehow, I think the narrator would hastily decline the experiment.
We are all an expression of a non-localized awareness. What we perceive as reality is not real and no more real than the visual desktop user interface on your computer being representative of the reality of the inner workings of that computer. What is real is incomprehensibly complex, unseen, and unfathomable. “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin.
Sounds like he’s watched “The Matrix” one too many times. Everything he’s talking about takes place in the brain. Brain surgeons can activate areas of the brain to induce emotions, smells, memories, etc. We’re not magic creatures living in a simulation. We’re physical beings with relatively powerful brains.
Beyond 3 dimensions is vision itself. To see what will happen ahead of time or what happened long ago. We don’t even have to travel back in time. There’s a spiritual realm is what all of this is leading to. Because ahead of all our knowledge we exist. But our purpose is not existence like an object that is made today and is gone tomorrow. Our purpose is life itself. We exist but we have not fulfilled our purpose. There is a God. And the evil of this world has kept us from realizing this. It’s like that feeling you get when you’re just about to remember something and then next thing you’ve forgotten about it.
The problem is that all scientists try to explain the phenomenon of consciousness instead of just describing it and allowing each person to explore it themselves.this guy really nails it by saying that we are limited by our mind and when we want to enter into the realm of silence, where the truth is laid in, there is a huge fear of just losing it. We gasp for thoughts and come back, but when we enter into the void, we can see what is waiting for us there…
exactly. imagine there is an absolute non physical background. in that background is potential. that potential is expressed through arising consciousness and information. then you pop up. you use that last thing known. information. what does that mean? we are just reusing a small part of what is possible of this realm. we are dense, reality is not dense, its levels of dense and before reality there is emptiness. (for lack of a better word) emptiness offers influx. think about it?
It only needs to be rendered once …then its cached.. We do know what we are doing because we have shared experiences that are verifiable. Saying we are “stuck” is not the best way to describe what we experience. You can actually detect what emotions people are feeling.Just because you feel you’re stuck in a VR headset doesn’t mean you actually are. The man in this article seems to have schizophrenic thoughts .
If computers never existed, then obviously the simulation theory wouldn’t exist, but we do live inside our own minds, so doesn’t that suggest simulation? Is there anything outside our own minds? What is real, how do you define real? If you’re talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain.
Leo Gura in actualized ( why brains do not exist) he talk about all of this and more years ago and a lot of people criticized him and called him weird now every one is making mini articles about the same thing he goes in deep into. And I understand this is more scientific explanation so I guess that can be useful for those who understood his article.
This exact question has been discussed and explored for thousands of years in the Upanishads, Vedanta, and various Hindu scriptures. This ultimate reality or simulation is your true nature and is the Brahman or Atman that the Rishis and Seers have already experimentally discovered. The faster you realize this supreme truth, the faster you can be liberated from the shackles of worldliness. Hari Om Tat Sat 🙏🏼
The universe is beyond all concepts. We can not understand it because we are a part of it- a part can not understand the whole system. Even if you took all the human made concepts and rolled them into a super concept- the universe would be greater still because the super concept is still, technically, a human concept. You have to just let the “seeking to understand” part of your nature go, you don’t need it at this point- that’s why it has no use here.
once i tried “san pedro”, its a phychedelic cactus, and did it because i needed some answers to a question without words, i didnt know wich question i had but wanted to know it and its answer.. in that pshychedelic state i heard, “your question is this: why everything that matters to me it matters to me? and the answer is, everything that matters to you, matters because you want it to matter” and i understood.. the love for my mother and my family, the important things in life, the world itself, matters because I want it to matter…i think loving my mother is important, therefore i love my mother, i think having dreams and aspirations in life is important therefore it matters to me, everything matters because i want..you will face fear and pain in life, but you will suffer for it only if you think that matters..its your life, now in this moment but you provide the meaning of it
PLEASE READ MY COMMENT BELOW “your website is another Religion” Your brain and mind are very noisy and full of chatter. The mind can create an infinite or never-ending number of concepts whenever it likes. Man is very creative and imaginatively intelligent, and we are all different, so different belief systems or religions are created. Your website is in the form of another belief system and mind-made ideas, and it has an exact definition of a religion. Where or what is the reality? When you stop thinking, that’s the reality. It is nothing. Cannot be known, cannot be understood, cannot be define, no location, no beginning and end. If you will ask me WHAT IS THE REALITY my answer is I DO NOT KNOW…
If nothing is there until we observe it. Then how is it you can smell a certain smell without observing it’s presence? Like I came to my apartment and when I walked in I instantly smelled weed. I don’t smoke but whoever did was close enough to my apartment for the smell to leak in. How can our sense of smell be simulated? That’s why I have a hard time with this theory. If I had observed the weed being smoked then you may could say my fake brain conjured the smell, but I didn’t observe it, therefore I didn’t know it was there but my supposed fake nose picked up the smell. Debunked
What do you say, does it mean that we are not conscious?, I ask, because I meditate, and yes, in that darkness, which is not really terrifying, it depends on how you look at the situation, when I meditate, I absolutely eliminate all thoughts, and somehow I have conscious tetha states through which I manifest what I want in this physical reality, now, what I don’t understand is, if I am not consciousness, then, to understand, that consciousness manifests what I want in this physical reality?, that is, in the tetha state, you manifest absolutely anything, I manifested my brother coming out of a coma, after his heart stopped 3 times, and he had saturation 21, and now he is very well, so we can somehow change this reality, but, I always felt that we are that consciousness.
1:00 He’s wrong about your brain not being conscious, but much of what he says is on the right path and well intentioned. Your brain is 99.9999999……% unconscious and your consciousness is whatever you happen to be aware of at the moment. If your brain didn’t exist unless you render it, as he states, then you’d cease to exist when you sleep. From your conscious pov you lose awareness while sleeping, but of course your body and brain still exist and continue living. Unconscious has always been a bit of a misnomer. Your unconscious mind is more like semi-conscious, it lacks the clarity and focus of your consciousness but it still has basic levels of understanding it’s local environment. Any interactions of your unconscious that rise above a certain threshold (i.e. the room is too warm) will then become aware to your consciousness to interact with. The simulator or “headset” he’s talking about is a combination of 2 things. 1 is your subjective perception of objective reality which is filtered and interpreted through your senses. The other is sanity which is a biologically evolved interpretive structure (mother nature “created” sanity, not humans) that all social animals have allowing them to communicate, understand, and interact with other animals. at 6:10 his question is answered directly by the existence of sanity. Sanity is a projection, a sort of socialization marketplace. “clearly theres a projection” he states. Yes there is, and if he or anyone reading this is interesed in “taking off the headset” you only have to go insane.
when I was high one time, I became completely disconnected or more aware of reality im honestly not too sure what, but I did discover some ideas that I myself think are absouletly nuts, geniunly concerend I might have schizophrenia or am just overly paranoid of the fact that I might. Anyway I digress, I wanna start with the thought that you will never understand anything the same as somebody else idk why I thought this was significant but I guess it somehow indicates a sense of loneliness that everybody has same thing with dying as nobody will ever understand your thoughts, feeling, mood, dreams, desires, and etc truly, and this then it leads to my second thought of what are we? I feel silly saying this because this question has been asked for thousands of years but I also feel that this question isn’t meaningful to a lot people because I don’t think people think too much of it and it sorta glossed over “oh were uhm humans no actually were a brain” anyway I then asked another question “where are we” because actually where the fuck are we, are we in heaven???? or hell??? im not religious but im just questioning what reality are we in, and the possibility that we could be in those worlds without knowing it??? I don’t know why but I do find it disturbing that we know we exist but we don’t know what we are idk im kinda talking out of my ass here but we are just a thing that just exists, we weren’t asked to be born we just somehow at a certain time had woken up, and when I think of this I sorta feel like we’re a joke just cruel joke but at the same time i feel like if we were a simulation this would be the best one just because were a god of our own minds
Here is your limitation. You are coming into ” being” in meditation. That is where the ” limitless” is experienced. By definition it is completely unexplainable in language. Period. Then you come back to the ” matrix” and try to ” built” a theory that is in words, pictures, graphs, or whatever physical means you like, and find it impossible to accomplish. It was never meant to be accomplished. Just BE. That is the simple and true answer.
believe it or not sometimes i have this thing where i can look in the mirror really close up into my eyes and i will just not have any thoughts or anything and i will just freeze and only be able to move my eyes and after a few seconds i wont know what i was looking at, like i couldnt recognise myself im not sure if anyone will understand what i mean but its extremely weird and scary
I am an Electronics Engineer. I cannot directly perceive the flow of electrons (only if I get a shock). Yet, I have a model in my brain of how all of this works. I suggest that my model of the scientific reality of electronic circuits and how they work is correct. I know this is an objective truth because my designs work. My model inside my brain is abstract. However, the results of my designs are real and concrete. I work with an entity that can only be observed indirectly by using instruments that measure electron flow. It is a fact that the act of measurement actually changes what I am measuring. Depending on how small the entity I am measuring, determines the absolute accuracy of my measurement. Science is the best way to study our objective reality. I think science is wonderful. Someday we may even understand how the brain creates the illusion of consciousness…after all, we know the brain is electric.
Imagine traveling back in time and giving a cell phone to Einstein, showing him all its features, including how to play games, but not how to make calls. Then, you ask him to reverse engineer it and say you’ll return in ten years to see his version of the cell phone. It’s not going to happen. Now, think about being a billion years ahead of us. There’s nothing to give us because the physical being no longer exists.
The only problem we always had are pains, suffering from birth, old ages, sickness and death eventually. That is why we have to really awakened to our consciousness and wisdoms to attain Liberating lives here once and for all in the name of true consciousness you are mentioning about that we struck in illusions! Not understanding it is really terrifying indeeds.
That is why having a pet ios important because you learn this even at a basic level when you understand how they perceive the world – birds see UV light and both birds and dogs hear high tones we cannot. Their main mode of communication is different from ours — so just at this elemental level we come to realize our perception is simply just one of many possible ways of apprehending “reality”.
This is simply the difference between reality and truth! He is always talking about “I”, “we” and “you”! This is simple basic reality, it is based on a “personal” mindset and “personal” experiences! Truth has nothing to do with a person. It is not depending on anything or anyone! Our reality will change and die with us. Truth will always exist, even without a Universe. Truth is the ultimate state of everything. Even GOD would not exist without truth.
🎉Donald, I’ve enjoyed lots of your articles, all that you share. You speak of “WE”, we can’t see this or that or “WE” are limited in so many ways. You’re making the same mistake as every other scientist I’ve heard when the say things like. “We don’t know ………” How can they or you speak for all of us? My experiences are completely different from your description of what this “WE” can and cannot do and see. I had a conversation with a pretty successful scientist not so long ago. When I shared with him that I could see his energy field and I could see light around everything and trees in particular I could see lots of activity around and in them, the oxygen leaving the trees and rising up into the sky. He simply said I should see a psychiatrist and the conversation was finished. Talk about a closed mind. I hope you take this on board when you next speak, you and I can only speak for ourselves and maybe a group we’re connected with. PS: You’re on the right track.
Modern research on Near Death Experience by Raymond moody, reincarnation memories by Ian Stevenson/Jim trucker and past lives regression by Brian Weiss all independently but coincidentally show that our consciousness survive death, we live many lives and our thoughts and actions matter in the hereafter. So be kind and helpful to others, be virtuous, meditate and cultivate ourselves to higher spiritual levels. Cheers.
Thank you my God, You have created these all things and universe for us to have a way towards you . The reality and the life is the death, and after death everything will revealed to us . We are in ” a dream within a dream “. End of life, means starting of endless life with happiness or satisfaction for those who were believed on God, and in sadness and darkness for those were opposing their own God.
Actually, NOT TRUE. If I was in a different room and I had someone look into my bedroom from outside the window. They would be seeing what I am not rendering in the other room I am in. So in reality, those items in my bedroom are there even though I am not in the same room looking in. I cam verify the contents of what’s in my room by simply asking the person looking in from outside the window.
The problem I have with this argument is that the universe we observe is internally consistent across every and all observed items, and with all other known observers. It maybe that a spiritual object is the hand within a material puppet glove, but it is consistently and minutely conserved by the material glove. Therefore the material puppet glove does indeed exist!
Hello, Thanks for the sharing of information! After reaching a pinnacle in traditional education as I was seeking the understanding of consciousness and how to integrate it into everyday life, I left the institution that I had began my PhD journey with because their studies didn’t quite fit the aims that I felt compelled to pursue. I left, but continued my research silently on my own. However, I desire to band with a community of other thought leaders, but it seems difficult to find. With that being said…do you have any recommendations on institutions where I can continue my PhD journey with a focus in consciousness and the transformative position of human nature? Thank your for you time and consideration.
This was correctly espoused by the Buddha, over 2500 years ago. These people are struggling to extract His theories for a long long time, without giving Him credit for it. “චිත්තේන ජායතී ලෝකෝ; චිච්චේන පරිකස්සතී ” This explains it all, as to how the citta aspect of the mind, creates ourselves and the external universes and initiates rotation ! Without the Citta there is nothing. Difficult for an ordinary person to comprehend. Listen to Dr. Gamini Abhaya MD. MRCP. who has achieved Sowahn and Sakurdagami states in the Path to Nibbana, via YouTube, FREE OF CHARGE. to understand it well. THIS A TRUE. When you look at the Original Buddha Doctrine, all these phenomena have been clearly espoused!
But this falls apart with object permanance. I look away from the steering wheel, and 1. If my hand is still on it, then I’m still directly, physically aware of it 2. Even if not, when i look OR /reach/ back, there it is, EXACTLY where it WOULD be, had it never “stopped being rendered.” Almost as if something/someone remembered it. Or it stayed right where it was, it simply changed forms. Data One form Rendered One form Stored And if its data, it can be read And if it can read…it can be WRITTEN. /WRITTEN/….REwritten…and OVER written. THAT’S the mystery for me.
Wow, I’ve heard about philosophy like this but never met anyone who actually believes this tryp, glad I’m mentally stable, sounds like ya’ll need to come to Jesus and get saved from delusional thinking, read the 4th gospel John, and Roman’s Paul’s letter to the churches in Rome, be better than these lies
What a bunch of hooey 🙂 It is true that what we see is not a true representation of base reality. It is our brain’s interpretation of objective reality. We only see the stuff we need to see to be able to survive and multiply. Your brain is an analog computer. Your consciousness is software running on that system. One day, the computer will cease functioning, and when it does, the software will be erased. It really is that simple. I have never really understood why this simple fact scares people so much that they have to invent all sorts of myths and legends and ideologies to fool themselves into thinking there must be more to it. You are alive now. Make the most of it because some day you will be gone forever. Eternal sleep really can’t be all that bad can it?
They teach you in school, we know the origins of life, and the universe. So, they teaching you a lie. With extreme consequences: IF we know the answers for the origin of life and the universe, why should we have a belief in GOD? Why should we believe that there is such a thing as sins, forgiveness is a strength, and so on. They tought me these are fairy tales, hell I can do whatever I like, being greedy and selfish and ignorant, they tought me that I am fine as long as I don’t get caught by human made law and end up in jail. ISN’T THERE SOMETHING DEEPLY WRONG WITH THAT?
When one taps into and merges with the Transcendental Absolute (Aristotle’s “Being-In-Itself”, the One of Plotinus, the Tao, the Sat-Chit-Anan da of Shankar’s Advaita Vedanta, the Ousia of the Stoics, the Substance of Spinoza, etc; (all the same Pure Consciousness), the headset is not discarded.. It’s transcended and the entire “Real” universe emerges in which all “things” are That Pure Consciousness, Brahman. To tap into and merge with Brahman, no problem. Access “Mahamritunjaya mantra – Sacred Sounds Choir” and listen to it for 5 min per day for at least two weeks.
A long time ago: 2 purple mikes and a slow but sure reduction / analysis asking not only who am I but what am I? I eventually reduced ‘my self’ to a single point entity. I / it did not have a name, physical presence, or personal history – it was ‘just’ pure uncluttered / unclouded thought. It was unbelievably liberating, a huge revelation. The scary bit only came afterwards because it took so long to ‘get back’ to my original state of presence / history blah blah and it suddenly hit me – where would I be if I had not been able to come back? Well, it might have been universal bliss for ‘I’ – but I can’t imagine others having to look at after someone who was permanently in another ‘dimension’ ? Maybe ‘I’ wouldn’t have even existed in space time but in the beyond?
this is why Jesus said “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.” John 6:63 ESV our eternal existence is found in the One from whom it came. and until we are reconnected to Him, we will forever be living in a shadow of what is to come. thanks be to God who made a way through the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 🙌
This theory is overwhelming. What is having an existential crisis? An existential crisis is a term used to describe a period in life when you start questioning the very fabric of existence. It’s when your daily routine suddenly feels like it’s lost all meaning, and there’s a nagging feeling that there should be more to life than what you currently have. You can break away from this, by walking away from whatever is causing your existential crisis. It’s a theory, based on a small amount of evidence. Nothing more, nothing less. Don’t over convince yourself with “The simulation Theory!”
all very amusing thoughts, is it really just so scary to think that youve survived your whole existence just to die for nothing. for nothing to happen? sire we are an anomaly, theres no sign of anything else to thrive in our solar system, even if there are signs in mars. but lets just say that there is no meaning or point to life. would that be so scary that you would end up going mad and killing those around you because of the fear they might do the same to you or worse? we need to understand that life is a gift, and there is no return address on it. we created ourselves and we preserve ourselves for ourselves. the idea of religion highlighting humans as chosen by god is the most human thing ever. we believe we are the greatest and yet we fear ourselves. why are we unable to exist like godly beings? because is doesnt exist. we compare ourselves to the “what if” instead of the what we are. we are dodging accountability while claiming we are redeemable. in conclusion i would like to say that we need to treat each other with more patience and understanding because we are capable of doing such. when someone doesn’t understand something show them. if you dont have time or you cant do it and you think someone else will do it, what happens when someone gets in a bad car accident, and no one calls the ambulance because “someone else will do it”? face the reality that if we do not loft each other up, then we only drag one another down. this is the basis of the foundation of religion. “they do not know of their sins”, you cannot be redeemed if you do not come to god through the lord jesus christ.
Much much before any scientist in Oxford or anywhere discovered that consciousness (called soul here) keeps you alive, the Hindu Vedas said this since at least 5000 yrs. In fact they say that it is the consciousness that it is the presence of Aatman (consciousness) that make our minds/us conscious. Consciousness is Not a product of the brain. “That which cannot be comprehended by the mind but by which the mind is cognized know that alone to be Brahman, and not this that people worship here.” (Kena Upanishad I.6)
Hoffman says: “I’m interacting with Toms consciousness”. Good on you, Hoffie! You really have understood something that noone else ever have. You have understodd consciousness! However: How do you know that experience to be anything other than your private illusion, brought to you by your own faulty senses and your private imagination? Or – should we say – hallucination? You can fool some people all the time …
I’m so tired of people adding an idiotic echo affect to a lecturers voice and then some intense soundtrack of atmospheric sounding dull music with occasional sharp pitches of violin to accentuate a profound point; and then calling it ‘motivational’ I think people that are addicted to ‘motivational content’ are the worst ever. I’m almost certain they are the most unmotivated people on earth that experience nothing but profound dissatisfaction within themselves.
“There is no spoon!” The young man asked the wise old monk, “How should I treat other people?” And the monk answered, “There are no ‘other’ people.” The Simulation Theory is based on one piece of evidence “That we live inside our own minds.” We use our senses to gather and respond to information about our environment, which aids our survival. Each sense provides different information which is combined and interpreted by our brain. It seems reasonable to assume, that our minds are connected to a computer simulation, or we’re part of the simulation.
We are imprisoned in a cell we think is reality and are rewarded occasionally for good deeds to keep us in check, with amnesia a critical factor in the equation ion to keep us from understanding that we are in a small pond, not knowing there are bigger ponds out there. We cannot seem to figure out how to break out of this prison as totally settle in our comfort zone and also that we don’t not have the knowledge or the tool to Shawshank redemption out of this illusion. Perhaps some have successfully broken their shackles, hopefully they come back for us, who are too dumb to breakout on our own.
Its so bizarre how amazing and like magnificent is what he is talking about yet our lives are utterly boring wage slaving to survive in this stupid society. Something doesn’t add up here. Like why would this unfathomable consciousness would like to experience such a miserable nonsense? Even if its an experiment, i dont understand how did we get there
If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound? No. If I am not dreaming up the tree in that moment and I don’t observe the phenomenon, the tree doesn’t exist. The entire world is my own dream. The true reality is God- outside of the dream. Outside the dream, there is no body, no mind, no body, no five senses, no perception, no ego, no separation, no sadness, no suffering. Only freedom from this prison, only love and happiness. All the saints, teachers are trying to wake me up from outside the dream and assuring me that it is okay and there is nothing to fear.
Howdy. I would classify this as a variant of Solipsism. I would agree that perceptions are images or contructs generated by cognition using sensory inputs. I will, however, argue that the origins of perception are real. In English. The world will still be there though I have lived out my life. Regards.
If computers never existed, then obviously the simulation theory wouldn’t exist either, but we do live inside our own minds, so doesn’t that suggest” simulation?” We use our senses to gather and respond to information about our environment, which aids our survival. Each sense provides different information which is combined and interpreted by our brain. It seems reasonable to assume, that our minds are connected to a computer simulation, simply because we have no proof of reality, outside our brain.
You can only imagine things based on what we have seen in this reality, all just mixed and mashed together in various combinations, like a centaur. Only a truly death and blind person with a numb nervous system could could experience imagining things. Say the person cannot feel touch either, then they must lay down or be helped for everything. Bedbound, not even aware they are lying down. Would they know they are alive. Perhaps then, they imagine.I don’t this, I’m just typing. Why am I typing, I do not know.
Ok ok, it means if we just born a few days ago then we will start limitising our thinking to a extent of a square or a cube which we don’t even know what it is even when we are conscious… Now what will you tell about this Remember if you are telling about the other world that we don’t actually know because of our consiusness then your concept is also a consiusness which will in results create a infitive series of thoughts and thus your usual theory is a time waste except it create a new thinking
I see this article and wonder is he over thinking everything to the point he becomes totally confused and references grand theft auto to his being while it’s just a article game. Hello it’s just a article game snap out of it. Look i get it we all look for something to ponder about ourselves and guys like Sam Harris The Philosopher will go on for two hours and I’m more confused when it’s over than I was beforehand. Have you noticed everybody who fancies himself a philosopher never have a clear message? I mean, like never. There are those who will capitalize on our yearning for enlightenment and inner peace and it’s up to you whether their message is worthwhile or not. Personally i believe it should not create confusion or become this elusive thing we reach out for but can never quite grasp. Make it simple. Be a good father, neighbor, husband. Those are the things that are attainable. And they have nothing to do with electronic headsets and grand theft auto. ” My brain doesn’t exist ” yeah right.Smh.
The 3rd dimension doesn’t need to be real, we just have to believe it is. It’s a sandbox or nursery for the undeveloped. It is functional for our needs while keeping us relatively safe. Don’t worry, things will get more complex when we are ready for them. The power of creation is love which manifests as compassion in 3D. You are forever and you have no choice so explore your existence and try to be whatever you think you should be. All is well, always was, and always will be.
Our experiences in life materialize, not according to fate, nor prayer, nor what we assume we are deserving of, nor by randomness, or by the grace or vindictiveness of God. Our experiences materialize according to our capacity to recognize and trust in the existence of our meta-consciousness, the part of our being that simultaneously inhabits our physical bodies, the space outside of us, and the inter dimensional world between, that sees everything hidden from us and works to fulfill our most genuine needs and desires in the short term and over the long haul. The things and events that we see as fate, or that we believe are answered prayers, or what we feel we’ve earned, be it good or bad, or that we think are the intervention of God or angels, are in fact the stagecraft of our own meta-consciousness, revealing itself to us in measured amounts until we are ready to fully embrace the greater reality of its presence..
Self-awareness has always been nothing more than that: self-awareness. Don’t feel bad that the universe doesn’t care about you. It doesn’t care about itself either. It doesn’t have cares because it is inanimate. It doesn’t remember anyone when they are gone because it doesn’t remember anything. Don’t take it personally. Yes, we as beings in science are but ants on a rock in space, but our thoughts and feelings matter because they affect other beings who feel and think, too. Focus on those who are animate and how they will remember you, because we do write history books, and people do give them meaning by reading them in the future. Our lives have as much meaning as we give them.
But you can touch the object when you remember where it is, like, your looking at your windscreen in your car, and you grab something to your side without looking. You remember where it is, you find it, with the sense of touch, maybe that is manifested also by your expectation of what you are expecting to grab, the nervous system knows, while your eyesight is focused on the task of looking forward and driving. another filled instant expectation, who know.
