Samsung Sam, also known as Samsung Girl, is a 3D virtual assistant created by Lightfarm Studios, a subsidiary of Samsung. The concept art, which went viral in 2021, features a bright-eyed, perky young lady who enjoys jamming to music on her Samsung phone, browsing apps, and texting friends. Samsung Girl is not an official product or acknowledgement from Samsung itself. Instead, it is a rendering created by Lightfarm Studios, a visual arts production house that works with Samsung. Leaked images of the avatar appeared online in mid-2021, and Samsung has not released any information on “Sam”.
Sam is a trainer character planned and produced for the purpose of training employees of the DX division of Samsung Electronics Brazil. Samsung claims that the avatar was created to connect with younger generations, specifically Millennials and Generation Z (MZ) consumers. The company’s history dates back to 1938 when it was founded as a trading company. Over the next three decades, the group diversified into areas including food processing.
Sam, also known as Samsung Girl, is a personification of the lion, the club’s animal symbol, as a pretty yet strong image. The internet has recently discovered Samantha on TikTok, and while she has been associated with Samsung since its viral rise in 2021, Samsung did not create or acknowledge her. The Samsung Lions’ mascot is a personification of the lion, the club’s animal symbol, as a pretty yet strong image.

📹 The Internet Simped For a Virtual Assistant That Doesn’t Exist – Samsung Sam Meme Explained
Samsung Sam never became Samsung’s Mascot but that doesn’t mean the internet isn’t simping over her anyway. Subscribe to …
Actually, fun fact: the Geico Gecko was initially created with the advertising gimmick that people would call him thinking they’re reaching the company Geico, when they’re reaching the GECKO instead. Geico in general has also had a lot of mascots running at the same time as the Gecko–Maxwell the Pig and the cavemen to name a couple. They stuck with just the Gecko after a while, though.
It became kind of an unspoken rule here in Brazil that every big company NEEDS to have some sort of 3D mascot, usually for social media purposes and to “connect to the young audience”, so these characters end up answering a lot of questions and comments on Twitter, Youtube and Facebook to interact and stuff. Most times it’s the mascots themselves that “run” the social networks, so whoever is behind it is just straight up roleplaying as they reply to everything, it’s actually kind of hilarious, if not tryhard (which it is a lot).
She’s being used extensively for Samsung ads in Latin America, and I mean official ads, like on TV, YouTube Ad slots etc, specially here in Brazil. She’s pretty popular and overall appreciated. So idk! Maybe Samsung has plans for her in other places in the world, hopefully we’ll see her comeback in North America and hopefully she will become the proper mascot, I think she deserves it tbh!
Funny thing is that she’s actually official mascot here in Brazil (also in Colombia) she even showed up in a few ads here and in Colombia soo in Samsung did officially adopt her as a mascot but not as a virtual assistant but if Samsung worldwide officially embraces and adopts Samsung as well we might finally get her as a virtual assistant as well!
Im not a Simp but I was actually excited to see a humanoid assistant and another cool feature to Samsung Sam is if you could Change her gender to male so you could choose if you wanted a male or female virtual assistant It would be kind of cool to have a humanoid virtual assistant and not just a voice like Siri and Bixby Seriously it’s like your own robot butler inside of a portable tv I like the concept of Samsung Sam but imagine if you could choose if you wanted Samatha or Samuel
If Samsung actually went through with ‘Samsung Sam’, they’ve literally could’ve made billions. It’s kind of their loss. Samsung’s ads could’ve openly acknowledged the Rule 34 art & other variants like cosplays and safe for work art, as like a joke or something, but this would’ve only happened if she was openly released.
Here in Mexico Sam appeared in a LOT of ads during the world cup, and she is still used profusely. Maybe because people care to much about how their characters appear in the US she wasn’t used there. In most of Latin America people just don’t care, hell there even was a character from an animated day of the dead special that had a TON on NSFW fanart and at the end the website that aired it just owned it and moved on.
I know most artists are offended to see rule34 of their original characters, but personally I would see it as a weird badge of honor. Only the most distinct, appealing, and popular characters have fan art made of them on such a grand scale. Plus they’re fictional, so no actual people are being humiliated, which is where I draw the line.
It’s funny not putting together the Gecko/Geico wordplay, since the original Geico Gecko commercials were literally just the Gecko answering the phone in his house, and saying, “Ugh, no, you want ‘Geico’, not ‘Gecko’!” The storyline progressed so that eventually the annoyed Gecko was hired (in-universe) as a spokesman for Geico. He canonically got rich and famous from the role, and was a little bit of a playboy, getting recognized, signing autographs, and attracting human women. Eventually, he leveled off, and became the bland corporate shill we know today.
4:14 It’s sort of like how NiGHTS and Segata Sanshiro were co-mascots of Sega in the Sega Saturn days. I mean Segata was more of a Sega Saturn color variant mascot who wasn’t really meant to last past that console generation but both he and NiGHTS had horrendously short-lived time as mascots, which in the case of NiGHTS was kind of unfair. NiGHTS didn’t deserve that fate. I do have to wonder if the horrendous mismanagement of Sega and later Sonic Team USA was what lead to NiGHTS vanishing until Journey of Dreams after the Sega Saturn died. It’s not like any of the main talent behind Into Dreams left before Yuji Naka’s departure in the late 2000s.
Since you are beginning to talk about “Mascots and Rule 34”. You seriously need to talk about The Lactaid Cow’s popularity in the furry fandom. Because I remember Lactaid made a series of live-action/CGI commercials around 2015 where the titular cow interacted with human actors. Her redesign made her notably thicker and empathizes her behind and hips. I still remember that one refrigerator commercial the most where her ass is shown off more. The ads used to be up on Lactaid’s official Youtube website, but got removed at an unknown period. Possibly as a response to her “unique” reception. That didn’t stop various reuploads of all the ads though. She still appears in newer ads for the milk brand though.
It amazes and scares me how fast R34 astists can be. It doesn’t matter if it is 2D, 3D, animation or whatever. As soon as they get a whiff of some new potential waifu material (or occasional husband), you can expect the internet to get flooded with art of it in a week tops, with absurd engagement nonetheless. If Horni Jail was an actual thing, a lot of people would get life-time
I mean look, art aside; right from the get-go, it was already a bit apparent to me that that this “Samsung Mascot” was one of the most illustratable and copyable OC characters to hit mainstream Twitter in some time… I mean look at this design; Bob-cut brunette with bigger eyes, a bit of an hour glass figure as well and wearing a black button-up with jeans as well. I mean, it’s a bit beyond me actually how the internet was as taken aback as they were with how much NSFW content there was of this one single character, bro…
For a article idea I’d really like to see your thoughts on the NSFW art community because when it comes to things that are supposed to be child friendly and stuff it’s true that Creativity is free but I’ve always wanted to see a article on the thoughts of the negative side of the NSFW community or that there needs to be a balance
Honestly it’s kind of upsetting that any new female character that gets introduced gets instantly sexualized if she looks good. Like I get it boobs are great guys, but the internet is doing too much. Now that I think about it, this only ever happens with anthropomorphic wolves too – God forbid a mainstream movie or company introduces an anthro wolf
No, she wasn’t exiled, I though Saber will saw the official articles of her and realize how Samsung embrace their mascot but he wasn’t sure and ended the article thinking she was just a concept… Well, I guess is mostly a thing in latinoamerica but you can find several articles of her on commercials, for example Sam telling you about the Neo Qled 8k on chile or Sam talking about the Galaxy Z Flip 4 on the website from Colombia. To me there is no doubts, she is official as far as I can tell.
No way, I didn’t expect I’ll be seeing this again, I already forgot her existence. But hey it really feels so long since I heard about this. Saber is just suddenly got Motivated. 😂 Saber: “I didn’t look at rule34, I only saw em on my Twitter feed.” I don’t use Twitter but I guess I’ll check it out. 😂
Honestly Samsung should take this opportunity as way to get more people to buy their products. Mascots are very influential if handled and written well. Also I think they should make some subtle references about her R34 as adult humor that only adults would get, but would fly over the heads of kids. The last part is a recommendation.
Had some less-than-sterling experience Raycon – the sponsor. Audio quality was excellent… for a couple months. Then the left earbud started getting quieter and quieter whereas the right one was still chugging along like a champ. Exchanged em for another pair of similar quality, and exact same thing happened. Kept em clean, didnt drop em, nothing out of the ordinary. For the prices they’re asking, wouldn’t recommend.
I’ve always hated rule 34 because the artists (look, some people that draw it are good, I just don’t like what they draw) have basically ZERO “restraint”, but I only have a problem when it comes to characters who are underage. I have primarily seen (unwillingly, I’ll mention) R34 of The Owl House and Helluva Boss of characters who should not at all be drawn like that.
I’m from a Jehovah’s Witnesses family. My mom was disfellowshipped so whenever we visit our mom’s parents my mom can’t come with. It’s very saddening having a whole side of your family abandon you because they don’t know they’re being controlled in a cult. Caleb and Sophia were big influences on me (we went to out grandma’s often before she moved) So when I discovered TellTale (another former JW who learned the dark truth) I was in hard denial, but later on I realized he was right. So hearing my favorite YouTuber is gonna go over this will be very interesting. I hope you read this, Saber. (P.S. you should use the furry SaberSpark for another article, it’s good to embrace who you are)
About the Rule 34 slaughter. I remember the same thing happening with Rivet (The female Lombax from Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart). One Comic was genuinely funny. Rivet browsing herself on R34 with a series of expressions. One Black Panel Rivet front-facing buttnaked with an amused face. Next panel, same exact picture but with text bubbles: “Relax Guys, it ‘s just tits.”
She could have been the Cortana of Samsung. Photoshop and Blender? That’s an ideal combination I wanna try on a stronger PC. Mad respects to the artist/s that stirred the concept for Samsung. I survived Danbooru’s madness (I JUST WANTED FAN ART OF RYŪKO, NOT THIS MADNESS). But it’s sad that even for something as innocent as a cute anime girl, R34 is a virus. Plus, it being a hoax is much more saddening. Sam could have more potential (Possibly to push Blender to its limits and show what it can do). Now Samsung has no mascot.
Hello Saber! I’m a big fan of yours from Iran, and i recently remembered an old unlicensed Persian Spongebob movie called “Spongebob In Tehran”. It’s laughably bad and has pretty interesting history behind it, so seeing as to how you like to make articles about these kinds of things, i’d be interested to see that! Keep up the good work!
If a company makes an aesthetically pleasing mascot, they full well know what they’re doing. Rule 34 has nothing to do with these mascots being axed from the company (even if public outrage is a big motivator for large companies, the fact that someone commissioned the mascot in the first place shows that they knew what their target audience was)… I’m not specifically talking about Sam, as the article explains, Sam was just a concept for a mascot but never actually made official (although I wouldn’t put it past Samsung to take the Replika route, but that’s a whole topic in itself)…
The Geico Gecko has 31 r34 submissions that are pretty “hmmmm” tier (even Jerry the Mouse is involved) so idk what the problem is with Sam. It’s literally in the rule.. If something exists on the Internet, there is bound to be porn of it. If the corpos just embraced the horny for once they’d be ballin’ like crazy.
Saber: “I’m totally not a Furry! I just always watch furry movies and shows and they’re always super suggestive and I am not a furry!” Also Saber: “This was how I even found out about Sam. I was not looking at Rule 34 stuff! Sam just popped into my Twitter feed! Dont look at me!” I love Suspiciously Specific Denials.
In a world of market economics you would think in some ways the business world would actually embrace the sexualization of their mascots. People forget the expression, “sex sells”? Look at lingerie models, the old fashioned cigarette adverts, etc… Seems odd that profit driven industries would react so prudishly to free advertising from the consumer base.
Oh god when I heard the Jahova witness articles, that brought back some weird memories. My Great grandpa used to own a hall where he would talk at Johavas witnesses, I never payed attention and since he knew where we lived. He would bring those cartoons and make me watch the and write down 10 things I learned, if I didn’t he would make me watch the next one he had. I couldn’t tell if he was trying to convert me to Jahova witness or punishing me, I saw it as both when I was little 😂
Saber, I’m Brazilian and i SWEAR TO FKN GOD I DID SEE AN OFFICIAL AD WITH SAM. It was a new flip type of phone, and it wasn’t the only AD I’ve seen her on. I don’t know about the rest of the world but i swear she was used in several ads here in Brazil to promote mainly new phones. And hey, another character that’s pretty much canonically Brazilian? Hell yeah I’ll take that
i will say as a samsung (galaxy) fan, of more than 5 years, i were extatic when i saw the concept on twitter, i loved the idea, and yea i might have gone home the same day and went to google, but in the end, i was very excited for about a month before i found out the truth. anyway, heres to hoping she actually becomes a reality. coping? properbly, but thats your fault, saber, for bringing this back to my mind.
i saw a lot of lot of latam comments saying that there were samsung sam commercials in their own territories so i did some of my own digging and if you go to samsung columbia’s official youtube account there is a commercial featuring sam that was posted just 8 days ago as of the time of this articles upload. its cute they have her in a lot of cute looks and shes even got a goldfish shirt.
Rule 34 Remastered: If it exists, there is p(opc)orn of it. No exceptions… It Is Sadly But A Permanent Dent: Yes it may be vile, yes it may be the thing that has caused many childhoods to be ruined, but it’s a permanent dent on the internet and we have no choice but to either accept it as a part of the internet…OR LEAVE THE INTERNET. Artists: Theres no point in trying to stop the inevitable, there’s no point in being afraid. Know what to expect. So if you release a character…just know that there is no stopping the artists. Even characters as cute as…let’s say the pokemon Pikachu. It exists. There is no stopping internet degenerates.
A not-too-hilarious fact: If one searches for “Samsung Sam” (or rather any of the tags related to said character) on Newgrounds the majority of what shows up is A-rated (the same goes for “Earth-Chan” by the way). An edit: If you’re really going to make a article about Rule 34 please add a section about “Rule 35” (it’s essentially “If Rule 34 isn’t true for something yet it will be.”), I feel like that could be a good thing to do.
Radio and television has used two things to sell items: sex and violence. It’s proven to work. Why wouldn’t Samsung stick with a character who has a little notoriety at the gate? It just means people will look, and pay attention. Esurance could bring Erin back for the same reason, and she embodied both sex and violence.
I think Ankha from Animal Crossing has it worse. With safe search on you’ll stumble on to some sort of soft core smut or something that is obviously fetish fuel. Their essentially Sanrio characters. Almost child like. Stubby hands, big heads, simple designs. The whole Ankha Zone is what opened that pandoras box.
