Vedic Astrology: Where Should I Live?

Astrocartography is a method used to calculate an astrological birth chart, which involves three key elements: birth date, birth time, and location. The third critical information is often overlooked, but it is crucial for finding ideal places based on your birth chart’s planetary alignments. Astrocartography helps find ideal places by looking at certain areas of the birth chart known as angular houses and planetary aspects, as well as parans of crossing (astrological regions of the same latitude found on an astrocartography).

Astrocartography can be used to create a Vedic birth chart by using your birth date, exact time, and location. By looking at areas with your sun, Jupiter, and moon lines, you can create a rectangular map of the location of the stars and planets at the time of birth. Locational astrology helps people figure out the best places to live based on their birth charts.

Lines are drawn on top of a map of the world, and places that fall on lines or line intersections are supposed to be home. In a Vedic horoscope, the 4th house represents our home, while the 3rd house, which is 12th of the 4th house, shows away from home. The 9th house signifies the future.

Using AstroCartography, you can learn more about yourself and how you relate to special cities and places in the world. Your Astro map will show you where in the world your luckiest places to live are located. However, cities won’t be listed as text.

Which house is most powerful in astrology?

The angular houses in the chart are the most powerful, while succedent houses, less powerful but more powerful than the cadent houses, have a quality similar to the angular houses. The second house, which succeeds the first house of the body and personality, signifies the things that belong to the person, while the eighth house, following the seventh house of the partner or spouse, represents the belongings of the other person. Succedent houses have a stable, unchanging, fixed quality, deriving from their central position in each quadrant of the chart.

While some houses have malefic or weak connotations, they are productive houses where matters normally take root and flourish, such as possessions or children. The second house signifies the possessions of the person or event for which the chart was cast, and this meaning has persisted unchanged for several thousand years. Modern astrologers may perceive a correspondence between the second house and the sign Taurus, but traditional astrologers did not. Hellenistic astrologers considered the second house the “Gate of Hades”, leading to the houses beneath the horizon of the chart.

Which is the house of luck in Vedic astrology?

Luck, derived from the Sanskrit word “Lakshmi”, is a Hindu deity associated with money and fortune. In a natal horoscope, the 9th house is considered relevant for fortune or luck, and propitiation of the deity represented by the 9th lord helps enhance it. Luck denotes anything that one gets by chance, with “good luck” or “bad luck” being synonymous with it. In Hindi, the equivalent word for Luck is “Bhagya”, while other equivalents may be fate and destiny. Luck is generally used as a matter of chance, such as winning in a lottery or a captain of a cricket team winning a toss.

There is an elaborate system of spiritual practices that people follow to seek Divine Grace, with luck being the second name of divine grace. Christianity and Islam believe in the will of a supreme being rather than luck as the primary influence in future events. The degrees of this Divine Providence vary greatly from person to person.

In Hinduism, every living being has a soul that never dies and reincarnates and takes rebirth. The soul indulges in good and bad karmas (deeds) while living in one birth, and the reincarnation of the soul in the subsequent birth is determined by the quality and load of karmas from the previous birth. In Mahabharata, man is the dispenser of his own destiny, and actions done in a former life produce fruits in the new life.

If your Moon line runs through a location, you can expect to feel like you belong there and are cared for there. Astrocartography, or the astrology of locations, can provide insight into your life and personality. As someone who splits their time between the west and east coasts of the U. S., I sought to understand if my astrocartography chart could tell me which side of the continent I should live on.

During the pandemic, I found myself in a toxic relationship in New York City, and I fantasized about moving far away to Los Angeles. Now, I am convinced that my persona on the west coast is different from the intense and determined girl-boss persona I embody when back in New York. If you feel like you become a whole new person when traveling to a different geographical location, you might want to look into your astrocartography chart.

  • Superb article! Very lucidly explained! Loved the part about positive/negative badhaka. Thank you! I had a small doubt – I’d heard a recording posted online by Pandit Rath ji (on dhana karaka) where he’d mentioned that where sun/moon conjoins ketu, the sun/moon chart be read in reverse? Eg 12th from moon becomes second from moon. I noticed you counted the 10th house in regular order. I wasn’t sure if the reversal rule is applicable only in specific cases?

  • really like this controlled speed of this article, much better than others, getting the vibes of ur 9th H article again(my personal favourite), consider making articles in the same pace ahead as well, excellent article, i reckon one of the best on ur website, will share it in my circles and as much as possible, great work..cheers and keep up the spirit..!!

  • Great explanation, thank you! This works in my chart. 10H from Moon is Mesha and Mars is in Aquarius Satabhisha, pretty much connected to Rahu so I moved abroad to SW direction. Mars vargottam in sthira rasi. Venus is in badhaka rasi and also connected to Rahu (Rahu is in Venus sign). Setting in foreign land was in Rahu/Ketu according to Utpanna Vimsottari. Some people come back to their place of birth sometimes several decades after being abroad, can you please also cover this ?

  • Can we use ruler of 4th house from the moon as a our “best direction” to find place of living also? For example if ruler is Saturn which is west, can we consider that direction as a promise? I know that 10 from the moon is for our sustenance (work), but what about to find best place which will be resonate the best with our mind. 4th house from the Moon can be use in that circumstance?
