For anyone who got remastered and wants to do this fast, it still works they pretty much didn’t patch anything. Also for the blue palace method if you use pacify it’s faster, but rally is pretty good as well. Also if you have gotten the secret of arcana from the black book it makes this method take a few minutes at most to get level 100. Just use it then spam spells, wait 24 hours when it expires then repeat.
I recommend the spell “muffle” in the beginning. It can be used anytime and until up to thirty every cast gives you a level-up. It might cost a little more magicka, but with the right perks it is perfect for that. It can be used in the most crowded dungeons without being noticed. I ran most of the time having muffle on my left hand and running around doing quests. I had an illusion level of 100 four times only through muffle (and 2% invisibility).
Harmony in a city method is such a great tip, you can literally level from 15-100 in 8-10 casts. So perfect for farming perk points if you want everything maxed, I also used it to unlock training per level vendors to level boring shit like lockpicking and pickpocket up to 90. When I got all skills to 100 with my character, I thought the fastest way to lvl up was let giants hit me to train heavy armor, block and restoration, so I did that all the way to about 120 until I realised by accident that I could do this instead. Two hours later I was lvl 256 and had all perks. Really nice indeed.

So after perusal this guide, and this goes to everyone, I would only use courage and not calm, courage takes less and you level up the exact same, and when you buy the novice illusion spell, you can cast 6 in both hands, plus the toys vampire armor you regenerate so much faster. But that’s my opinion
skyrim. found my horse and started hitting it with spells, it was fun, the game called me a bad person, would play again but really the lvling trick works, just take your horse or cow and start spamming if there is not enough mana, just do the larger spell then smaller, and then wait an hour then ect
The confusion I had from this guide was not knowing what making a skill legendary was. So I was trying to work out how to get Call of Arms or Harmony since you neglected to include that information and finding I had to be level 100 which didn’t make sense. Also I have since discovered that using Muffle is much quick to level than Rally. So your first section of guide is outdated.
I know no one will See this but the best way to level up illusion is to do pacifie in the blue palace when you first enter go to the left and down the stairs to where the leaders are depending on what side you chose you in through imperials or stormcloaks and you just spam pacify until you can use harmony and I’ve already done it six times in a row and I got to legendary in illusion over six times in less than 15 minutes
Video is a bit deceptive. You have to get both Rally and Call to Arms from Drevis Neloren in the College of Winterhold, but you can get Call to Arms only after Illusion Ritual Spell has been completed which is a lot of work. You cannot get either of them from Ferengar as the article implies, so its more difficult than this article says that it is. A lot of omission there. It is not “fast” like this implies.
Harmony cost is something like 690 mana per cast on 15 illusion. Slowly goes down with illusion increase, but still shitload even on 90 illusion. Call to arms is too slow no matter how many people you get in Whiterun square. So unless you have such amounts of mana (which is one big waste of leveling points imo) it’s impossible to level with Harmony. Muffle spam takes around 20-40 mins from 15 to 100 depending on your mana pull/mana regen rate.
I don’t know why it isn’t mention much, but if you complete one of the Black Book quests you can get a power the lets you use unlimited mana. This works well for casting costly spelling in rapid succession of one another. This also works for other magics too. Dont remember the name of the black book, but you also obviously need the DragonBorn add-on
There is another way which is easier and faster or just as fast as this method. Just use the muffle spell repeatedly while having the mage stone equipped, along with the lady stone in the aetherium crown. Make sure you have items equipped that can regenerate and/or fortify magicka at really high amounts, in order for it to be really effective.

Dear ESO, I have come a cross a very easy trick to level illusion very fast that I see you did not include in your article, so I thought I would share it. This can be done from levek 15 illusion all the way to 100 in about an hour. It is very fast for early levels and helps a lot. If you get the spell muffle and walk around constantly casting it it will level you up very fast. Keep in mimd that you have to keep walking other wise it wont level you. Hope I helped 🙂
This the one you need to make conjured spells silent???? Need that for my Khajiit shadow assassin build made with the ebony mail armor.. Ebony helmet and gauntlets do increased bow damage. Boots are muffled and move silent. Ring regenerates magicka and pendant increases stamina regen. I have so much fun running around poisoning ppl in sneak mode.
“Under a minute” ?? Nonsense. The Rally spell is hopelessly slow even in a crowd too. Never mind the fact that some of these spells aren’t available until you are well levelled up anyway. i understand the gist of what you are recommending, but it takes way longer than advertised. Do you sell used cars for a living ?
Wow. I have 4 apparels with 25% discount to Illusion spells cost. Thus making my skills free. i have a set for each school of magic that i use once i max out my sneakiness. Once i get harmony which shouldn’t be hard since i have rally already i could go legendary 4 5 6 times how ever many i need to max my perks out. Illusion just went from least favorite to favorite.
I know I’m a few years late, but I want to get it out there(this will maximise effectivness of the farming); If you sided with the imperials, you’ll get a much more sentered crowd in the palace of kings in windhelm. Here comes the juicy bit: figured out that if you have 100 conjuration and summon a storm thrall, then aquire 100% spell absorption and aggro the thrall, it will cast pretty strong spells at you which you will absorb, giving you effectivly unlimited magicka, thus allowing you to spam the heck out of the spell. if you time it right, you’ll also get some guards passing by, and since you’re technically in combat they’ll just stand there and watch, giving you ~8-15 people being bit by the spell. Now, if you got the atherium crown, we can go even crazier, but it will require that you got spell apsorption from the atronach perk + miraak’s robes + being a vampire with the necromage perk in the restoration skill tree. What you do is that you activate both the lover stone and the mage stone, then sleep at your own bed while being married. this will greatly increase the rate at which the skill increases (20% + 15% + 15% = 50% faster rate).
It’s a bit late for this game, but if you don’t want to scatter produce all over whiterun, I found this: go to the cave with the bandits and the Redguard mercenaries (I think it’s Swindler’s Nest in English). For extra EP, take a nap in Rorikstead before going in. Hide in one of the small corridors and spam Harmony. You’ll hit just about everyone in there and gain dozens of skill ranks with every spell.
A better place to exploit the rally spell is the palace of kings in windhelm. In the hall, there are more than 10 jarls sitting around the table. Simply cast rally to them. With the mage stone activated and your follower included in the crowd, prepare for 20 min of dead brains. Of course, I sided with the Imperials during the civil quest line. Can’t confirm if it works for Stormcloak lovers.
ESO! I play this game a fair bit now, and I have several accounts that can cast the harmony spell, and I can spam levels nice and sweet and sassy, no problem. So an aspiring illusionist mage who happens by offers to using magic to rebuild the cow’s self-esteem and confidence. She tells him that its mutually beneficial. She masters her craft, and he doesn’t need to worry about the chickens’ mockery anymore
I did it in a similar fashion what I did however and how I could have done it where different. however here is what I suggest first get muffle then get the mage stone after that get into the collage join and sleep and get the well rested buff then talk to the illusion specialist do the quest related to the collage he has and it will give you a ridiculous mana recharge buff for 2 hours spam muffle until lvl 100 it should only take less than an hour. also you can try using the recharge buff for other things I just use it for illusion.
I found out that if you only kill one of the people in the abandoned Shack for the Dark Brotherhood you can go back any time and the other two people will still be there alive. And you can practice your illusion spells on them. I was using fear and found out that I could level up each time I hit them and they wouldn’t move.
