The Satanic Temple (TNT) is a non-theistic organization and new religious movement founded in 2013 headquartered in Salem, Massachusetts. It is known for its “unbaptism” ritual, where participants symbolically reject religious rites performed when they were children. The TNT area, located in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, was once an ammunition manufacturing facility during World War II. The Satanic panic, a moral panic consisting of over 12,000 unsubstantiated cases of Satanic ritual abuse, has a long and strange history dating back almost a millennium.
In 1966, Anton Szandor LaVey, high priest of the Satanic Church of America, joined socialite Judith Case and freelance writer John Raymond in promoting their own agenda. Anti-cultists jumped on the Satanic Ritual Abuse (SRA) bandwagon as a way of promoting their own agenda, and new religious movement scholars spearheaded the academic effort. The Satanic panic has led to a rash of wildly dramatic, highly unfounded accusations of satanic ritual abuse that were attached to a string of daycare programs.
The Satanic Temple (TST) is a non-theistic organization and new religious movement, founded in 2013 and headquartered in Salem, Massachusetts. According to legend, Mothman is a black 10-foot creature with wings and red eyes. Anton LaVey, the author of the Satanic Bible and founder of the Satanic Church, defines Satanism as “A religion of the flesh, the mundane”.
The TNT area still exists today, with the ritual being performed in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, symbolically rejecting religious rites performed when they were children.
