In Final Fantasy 14, you can unlock glamour by reaching Vesper Bay, where the Scions’ headquarters are at the Waking Sands. What is the history of glamour magic?

Glamour, originally a term for a magic spell, has evolved into a term for a non-magical item used to create an attractive appearance. In cultural studies, glamour is the impression of attraction or fascination that a luxurious or elegant appearance creates, intensifying reality. It can be a person, event, location, technology, or product like clothing. For glamour to be successful, it requires sprezzatura, an appearance of effortlessness and distance, which transcends everyday life and is slightly mysterious and idealized.

Glamorous things are neither opaque nor transparent, but translucent, favorably showing things. The early Hollywood star system specialized in Hollywood glamour, systematically glamorizing their actors and actresses.

What is a glamour personality?

Glamour is the quality of being fascinating, alluring, or charming, often associated with celebrities like Marilyn Monroe. Originally, glamour meant a magical or unreal charm or beauty attached to a person or object. Today, glamour is often used to describe a thrilling or attractive appeal, especially sex appeal. Glamour can be produced through the right clothing, jewelry, attitude, or friends, and is the mark of a star. Casting a spell over someone or something can also be considered glamour, as can practicing witchcraft.

How do you become glamour?

Glamour models need a unique and eye-catching look, including beauty marks, bone structure, height, and body type. They should love their natural appearance and use their best features. General guidelines include being tall, slim, and having perfect skin. However, the most important thing is to be yourself and show off what makes you special. No specific height or size requirements are needed, but individuals must be 18 and above, have noticeable curves, a well-defined body, and an attractive face. Glamour models focus on highlighting the beauty of the human body, rather than marketing products or outfits.

What is glamour Faerie?

What is glamour Faerie?

Glamor refers to the magical abilities attributed to faeries, which are largely due to their mutable nature. Most faeries can change their form to appear any size or shape, often with exaggerated features or abnormalities. Some faeries prefer certain forms, such as the Hyter sprite, which takes the form of a sand martin.

Faeries are not required to fly and can become gaseous in consistency, allowing them to float through the air with ease. They can also become nearly impossible to see, making them difficult to spot. Most animals are more alert and perceptive than humans, making them less easily fooled.

Humans can see invisible faeries by applying a special ointment to their eyes, which is made only by faeries who will be upset by its misuse. Some faeries possess even stronger glaymor, allowing them to affect objects other than themselves, often using illusions to distract or confuse men.

Faerie food and gold are not to be trusted, as they are rarely what they seem. Faeries can be seen through their eyes, but humans are not as easily fooled by them as they are by their alertness and perceptiveness.

  • If you’re working with Aphrodite, draw her sigil (the multi-petaled flower) with your makeup, i.e dipping your finger in your moisturizer or foundation and drawing her sigil on your face. Say a prayer or message to her, anything that’s coming from the heart, state your pure intent. Blend out that foundation or moisturizer. When you charge items, meditate with them with her sigil in mind or getting your finger wet and draw her sigil on your body. Turn your self care time into rituals, she LOVES that! Everytime I work out or put on makeup, I lick my finger and draw her sigil on my arm

  • i didnt think about how invisibility is a type of glamour… ive been doing it for my whole life, and do everything in my power to go unnoticed, because of my social anxiety disorder. sometimes it can be dangerous when you live in a city because sometimes cars dont see you, and one time i went to a family gathering and they straight up didnt know i was there. Its good and bad, because sometimes i DO want to be heard, but the invisibility for someone like me can get comfortable. Its a really good thing to have while traversing the woods, as you can get closer to birds and animals… my favourite plant to work with for invisibility is dried forest fern, (the edible types you find in the woods) crushed into an oil for anointing. – oh, and to reverse the invisibility, i have been working with peacock feathers

  • Best glamor I use is “I am but a shadow you do not see me, I am but a whisper you cannot hear me”. I visualize me literally not existing in the space I’m in, and it works every time. I use it at work when I need a break, and some customers think we’re closed and walk off 😂 (lights are on, midday and everything)

  • Tip for using colours in you wardrobe; learn your own colour season. Everyone can look good in every colour, but not every shade works the same. Some people pull off more cooler tones, some more warm (like I thought I could not pull off any blue, but it just turned out a warmer, darker blue looks a whole lot better and I only had tried cooler blues). It makes you more able to pull of any colour that you want to wear. Same for jewelry; it can help you figure out if silver or gold works better for you. Finding your right colours can make you glow and give that extra oomph, which can really helped with this kind of magic in my experience.

  • Oh wow! You’re opening up my world. Back in 92 I was feeding my newborn baby girl early in the morning 3:00 am. My ex walked through the door drunk as usual. I asked him where he’s been? He hit the ceiling fan lights with his fist and glass shatterd everywhere! But none of it touched me or my daughter. We were unharmed. I got up and on the couch I saw a circle where I was sitting. All around the outside of the circle had glass everywhere . There was no glass inside of the circle. I wish I took a picture.

  • My favorite glamour magick is to take a bath with moon water which I make in nights of full moon with specific intentions. Even without a bathtub I can put the water in a tin and pour it over my body. Having said that, the best glamour spell is a self-power spell… confidence creates magnetism. I enjoyed this, thank you! (Still perusal the Q & A part).

  • I learned glamour from some crones that I met years ago. It never had anything to do with confidence or attracting something. It had to do with totally not being seen. These crones used it often to speed and not be seen. They always told me it was dangerous because if the cop didn’t see you then neither did the other cars. I looked at it, and although I don’t like to drive super-fast, I always us it to fly above the radar in frequency. Mostly so if I don’t see the cops, they don’t notice me. I am never driving crazy fast or anything though, because as you say mundane before magick is always a good idea. It is also really good way to not be noticed by that one person at a party that you just don’t want to talk to or if you are at a store shopping and you really are not in the mood for socializing to just not be noticed. I had a friend who drove a 1 ton dually Pick Up and he always complained that no one ever saw him and were almost always driving into him. He was constantly getting cut off by people who just didn’t see him, and people almost driving into him all the time. This truck was huge! I told him he had his energy pulled in to tightly and therefore nobody was able to see him. I did a glamour spell to make him be seen more. The near misses stopped. I guess that is kind of like you were talking about confidence. I have to wonder if he has gotten more tickets since I manipulated the energy around his truck?

  • I have started to use this more intentionally and I have seen a large shift. As Above, so Below and As Within, So Without. I have seen that shift make a difference with how I view myself. Yes, it pairs with Shadow work. Big Note: I advise to Always recall back the glamor, whether for Positive perception or Hiding. A good way, for example is use your nightly make-up removal to re-call your glamor. It is like grounding your energy back to yourself or to the earth.

  • Olivia, I want to give you huge props for the effort you put into these informational topic articles. All of your articles are artfully made and authentic, but your attention to detail and academic talents shine through here. These articles are a wealth of knowledge for anyone along their magickal or spiritual journey. Your resources/recommendations are always solid and I frequently find myself falling down the rabbit hole of creators, books, websites, and podcasts suggested by you! Thank you for sharing this with us ❤️

  • The section where you mentioned fung shui and stagnant energy in a room made me laugh out loud. It’s winter in the midwest, the current temp is 6F. Every window is sealed in plastic, after I put up my wards n stuff. In shielding myself, I make sure to add, “only my own positive energy may stay (in shield). No other energies may enter without my expressed permission.” That made a HUGE difference in how I get through my days.

  • Color theory and how color is used to influence people is wild. I recommend everyone learning a little bit about it. Blue for example can literally trick your mind into not being sleepy. Which is why most phones have the option to turn off blue light and also why most social media use blue in their color schemes.

  • I have been a witch for about 20 years, and let me tell you from firsthand experience that glamour magick works! I was once acquainted with a witch who used dark hearted glamour magick daily and she had me captivated by her every move, every word, every whim for MONTHS, completely unbeknownst to me. Please be careful, sweet ones!

  • I recently got into streaming and charmed a pair of star earrings with the intent to make me “shine like the stars” and draw people in as they are with the night sky. Sometimes I’ll put on extra eyeliner if I want to be a bit mysterious to make people want to talk/get to know me. I’ve been seeing results, so I guess I’ll keep wearing those earrings during streams

  • I’m actually researching music and music lyrics and poetry and how to use them in spells. There are so much music and poetry out there that have words that that sound too much like spells and the way it can shape your mood etc etc etc I haven’t structured completely but I’m making a list. As for glamour magic I have thought about it and never knew that it was more than just speaking my intentions into my lipstick or perfume etc I will be trying this

  • Thank you for this, I always appreciate hearing your POV and as someone who thought glamour magick wasn’t really for me, this really opened my eyes to a lot more options like the chapstick and the color psychology so thank you so much for that. I always appreciate your content and this definitely inspired me to continuing to research this, best to you!!

  • I don’t know your website, but I slept with youtube listening to other interpretations of the death card…fun thing is your article started and I had a whole symbolic dream about trying to be safe and weird symbolic things around me or on my path in this dream, I woke up remembering everything you said! I am not a English native speaker so I would not normally dream with a whole English narration 😅 Damn it your voice was really voicing over my dream, woke up by the half of the article

  • I love you!!!! I so connected with your emotions when you spoke on confidence not being the same as tearing others down. It also brings flying on the wall and dancing. I am a pole dancer, and dancing truly does ground me. So happy I found another person I can relate to. Keep thriving, girl. You’re badass.

  • I’d like to say that I would love you as a mentor and if one day I have the money for it I’ll do my best to find someone that gives me the same vibes you do (in what you let show in your social media anyways) so just compliment to you:) You are the first face that told me “hey magic is real, come along I’ll tell you where to start” and that was three or four years ago. Thank you.

  • When you said colors mean different things to different people. I instantly thought of how Japan see’s white. In some countries, white is seen as innocence, and is commonly associated with weddings. In Japan, white is for funerals. White flowers are brought to funerals, and the dead, and laid on students desks if they pass. Yurei, the Japanese term for ghosts, wear white. It’s very fascinating how culture can change our entire view of the world. Edit: I forgot a word.

  • So a lot of my friends are still in the closet for their practice & I send them a lot of your articles because we’re all fans and we all get a lot of inspiration from you!!! But I was just thinking as I’m perusal this article (& I haven’t gotten all the way through the q&a yet so if you covered this, my bad) but for witches in the “broom closet”, you could use an invisibility glamour on your altars/tarot decks/ any other witchy paraphernalia to keep them from being discovered by unaccepting family!!! (Another comment below made a suggestion for an anointing oil made from dried forest fern and went into some of their own invisibility glamour tricks)! I just thought this would be a brilliant way for someone to hide their practice from undeserving eyes!

  • This was super informative. Ive been practicing the craft a little over 20 years (damn, I’m showing my age!) but never thought much about glamour magic and there isn’t a lot out there on it. I don’t think any of my books even touch on it so I was really happy to watch this article and I saved it for future reference:) u r a doll!

  • I use glamour magick but didn’t realize that is what it was called. I do it around my house, car and property. I also use an unseen spell on everything in my house. For the spiritually blind, may they remain blind to anything spiritual in my home and the items remain unseen. I have christian friends who come over and they never look at my books, never ask about my altars, it’s like they don’t see them or they don’t register. It’s really for their own protection so they don’t shit their pants. It also protects me and I can have my house and things the way I want.

  • I was wondering, as a neurodivergent person who hates being perceived, if I did something without meaning to. I’m very forgettable. When I was at Uni, I would always complain about how people would forget about me… I remember a professor I had asked for some documents to, who I visited in his office not even a week after, and commented that “I looked very different” so he didn’t recognize me at first. And I was so baffled, because I hadn’t changed anything about my physical appearance from the week prior. And stuff like that happened to me all the time. In certain situations it was very useful because, as I said, being perceived makes me very uncomfortable, but at one point being so “forgettable” started to impact my self esteem.

  • I often try to imagine myself giving off exactly the energy you described when you used to ride the metro. I always imagined it like the part in Harry Potter where I think they cast spells to turn people away from the quidditch tournament? They just feel some unknown force that turns them away. Of course also the “do not even breath in my direction” energy if all else fails. I never thought of it as magic, but I really like the idea of it being a glamour. Makes it feel more substantial. Thank you for the article!

  • I”ve always seen glamour as being perceived as more attractive, more interesting, sexier and more admirable by others, this article has definitely challenged my beliefs, which I like, I like hearing other perspectives. I love glamour magick when it comes to beauty or fame, for obvious reasons. I like how you went into depth on the subject as most witches on YouTube only talk about makeup when they talk about glamour.

  • Can I just say that I love your lipstick colour, it really suits you and gives you this confident, strong, resilient, certain vibe that’s earthy and magical. May I ask what you use? I really enjoyed your thoughts on colour psychology and body manerisms, I’ve started to notice more the influences they have on others as before I used to notice the influences on myself more.

  • Like all magickal workings the lesson I get out of this is it’s all about INTENTION. A glamour is only good for perception, like you said. It’s about how you are being perceived. My question is, how do I know how I am currently being perceived? I feel very blessed and would love to share some of my discoveries with people, but I feel invisible, it’s not like I’m craving attention, quite the opposite, but on some things I really wish people would listen. But no one seems to hear me.😢

  • Here’s a more simple definition. Wearing energy haha. I’ve fooled with glamour tricks for awhile and depending on the strength level,u can get some interesting outcomes. I’m a male practioner and I’ve had females on the street approach me. In some cases, mad aggressive too. Magic is no joke. When it shows up,it can show OUT. That’s why I do glamour Magick carefully now or not at all.Yes it gets u attention but u gotta be wary of what kind of attention.

  • So.. I could use this so people use the correct pronoun! And when I have more of a passing as a guy I could use it to not appear “threatening” I know it’s not the case for everyone but to me most cis man seems threatening and as much as I can’t be perceived as a girl it makes me sick I don’t want to be “scary” or unreliable to people (well mostly to women) This is amazing!

  • What if you do this without sigils or ritual? Just mentally! I’ve been able to achieve this with intention alone. I’m discovering these practices now so widely spread and practiced it’s pretty cool. Hahahha I used to think I was alone in this for a long time. When I realized how magical the world is it blew me away 😂 Great article

  • This article sparked some interesting thought, I don’t practice magick but I kinda have my own philosophy of wisdom and power I’m developing, but I do occasionally watch content akin to yours. Something I thought that you might consider mundane but I think would work, is to develop some foundational acting skills, as in being an actor, you probably wouldn’t have to be a professional but if you had some basics then you could draw on it to express various attributes you wanted to be perceived as possessing, and also wear a “costume” or correlating appropriate attire that also communicates those attributes. And also, maybe impractical in a lot of situations, but music is a powerful way to control perception. Can totally change the atmosphere of a room. Also there’s books written about the psychology of perception in the context of magic (illusion) that might be practical “mundane” resources for glamour. They call it like neuromagic or something.

  • I noticed each person has a “passive skill” some for money some for love some for food craft, and I noticed I have that “invincibility” for trouble or idk if for trouble specifically or what idk really but people have literally asked everyone about something but me like if I wasn’t even there when I was the one putting a tiny muffin inside a giant oven and the boss was asking everyone who did it and asked the entire crew except for me, that was one of the most obvious ones but it’s a thing I had noticed when I became more aware, in contrast to another coworker who kept getting caught when we were all making food in the prep area for us and every time I made something for my crew I was never caught 🤷🏻

  • Loved this article! Not sure if you’ve addressed this before. I would love to hear your thoughts on Glamour Magick for trans-masculine or masculine folks. I assume the principles are the same with colour theory, charging articles of clothing, skincare products and jewellery like rings etc. Just curious to know if you know of any examples of warlocks who are strong Glamour Magick practitioners. Thanks so much for sharing your wisdom!

  • This may be useful. I have the battery problem a lot of witches I know have. Those with weak aura barriers or a psychic injury or leaks (think psychic vampires and such) tend to be attracted to me (Ive had a friend sensitive to this state its like standing next to an energy radiating battery with me) and its draining and dangerous (I even suspect my boyfriend is an unawakend energy vamp, he has all the symptoms and does a 180 personality flip when he’s physically distant from me but I dont think he realizes and its fine if its just one person but not everyone on the street draining me) if I could shield my energy more effectively or even just give off an air of,”Leave me tf alone dont come near me,” it would literally save me a headache and be a huge relief

  • I have noticed something, lovely. ☺️✨ Do you use DeNoise on your clips by any chance? If it’s Premier Pro, I’d suggest putting the effect on the entire track (Audio 1) instead of the individual, chopped-up clips, because, after each cut, there’s a boxy sound now that only goes away a couple of secs. Hope this was useful!!

  • You seem a bit a bit off during this article today. Sad? Down? Distracted? I always love your soft, helpful energy. I apologize if I’m wrong. The energy feels spiritually tired. Sending you positive vibes. The information in the article is very helpful with a little bit of history, and good examples. Lots of love, sweets.

  • Much of this is more psychology than Magick. Much of our communication is nonverbal our choice of attire, especially. If you wanna keep people at bay, remain stoic and dress entirely in off-black colors like charcoal for example. Sunglasses are a big key too. “Eyes are the window to the soul” – that saying is kinda true. Eyes are the prime nonverbal communicator, cover them up. People are more likely to second guess their approach. Aviators work best, I think. They have a history of authority figures and other serious no nonsense types wearing them and this association as cliché as it may sound, can benefit you. Something as simple as wearing your hair or a hat differently is another easy and very effective measure. For guys, growing a beard can hide or if styled, sharpen facial structure. Whatever you do, experiment. Find your own personal pairings and use what works best for you. Advice is cheap because it’s always free, but experience comes at the price of your time.

  • If I am to be subtle, I don’t wear makeup, but I do keep a tube of BB cream and foundation powder compact on hand, because, gay. I also have a bar of soap that I got from St. Croix and would like to charge it magically but not sure how. Thank you for the instruction you provide. Oh and I got a tube of Blistex medicated chapstick and some Lume unscented deodorant.

  • I think changing your way of moving and acting plus modifying the tone of the voice is a bit unnatural for me. What I try to focus on lately is connecting with my inner “slow” and calm energy: that calms me donw, brings me to a warmer (and sometines luscious) energy which helps me gring out those attitudes that bring more glamour to me. Also in that mood I feel like wearing nicer clothes and doing a nice make up so totally works!

  • So I’m a guy…. Also gay…. And a nurse… I think it’s so funny and it honestly feels powerful that when I wear makeup to work or out anywhere it causes such an uproar and people to talk about me. I don’t wear anything crazy just a little concealer, very light blush to bring some color back to my face, and I’ll fill in my eyebrows a little. The fact that this little act that takes me like an extra 10- 15 minutes to my routine can cause such extreme reactions good/bad is funny to me. Like what I put on my face affects others.
