Monica Spells, the MPA assistant county administrator of Beaufort County, South Carolina, has resigned from her position and has accepted a job in another state. She has been appointed as an Assistant Loudoun County Administrator by Loudoun County Administrator Tim Hemstreet, effective September 3, 2020. Spells was selected for the position after a nationwide search and comes to Loudoun from Beaufort County, where she currently serves as a Deputy County Administrator.
Beaufort County will soon be searching for a new assistant administrator after Monica Spells resigned from the position. She becomes the third top leader in the county to leave since April, according to Beaufort County spokesperson Liz. Spells has oversaw various county departments, including Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services, Business Diversity, Child Welfare Services, Communications, Community Service, and disabilities.
In Beaufort County, Spells has overseen the fast-growing county’s civic engagement and outreach division, which includes alcohol and drug abuse services, business diversity, child welfare services, communications, community service, and disabilities. As assistant administrator over civic engagement and outreach, Spells oversees a wide variety of county departments, including Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services.
On Monday, county leaders announced that Monica Spells has been promoted to assistant county administrator for civic engagement and outreach. Beaufort County will soon be searching for a new assistant administrator after Monica Spells resigned from the position.
