The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is a branch of the Masonic Order, which originated in Scotland and has since spread to the United States through France. It comprises 33 degrees, with the first three administered by “blue lodges” or “symbolic lodges”. The symbol of the Scottish Rite is the double-headed eagle, which symbolizes the Temple of the Most High God.
The Knight Kadosh is a Freemasonic degree or ceremony of initiation performed by various Supreme Councils of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. The Knight Kadosh is a true defender of the Temple of the Most High God. The 30th degree, also known as the Knight of Kadosh, is the final degree of the Council of Kadosh, which includes the 19th through 30th degrees.
The Chapter of Rose Croix confers the 17th and 18th degrees, known as the philosophical degrees, which use Christian symbols and historical contexts. Each Valley has up to four Scottish Rite bodies, each body conferring a set of degrees that teach the moral codes of a Mason. These early “Scotts” (or Scottish) Degrees are ancestors of the Scottish Knight of the Sacred Vault and Prince of the Royal Secret.
Abbreviations of technical terms or official titles are of great use in Freemasonry, but they were rarely employed in the House of the Temple. The double-headed eagle is the unique symbol of the Scottish Rite, and its meanings may not be easily understood without reflection.
📹 FOUR things FREEMASONS should do EVERY DAY (the last one will change your LIFE!)
If you’re a Mason, you know that our daily habits play a big role in our Masonic journey. In this video, we’ll explore the 4 things …
Is Scottish Rite part of the Masons?
The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is a Masonic organization that continues a Master Mason’s education of the first three degrees in Freemasonry. It consists of the 4°–32° and an honorary 33°, awarded for exceptional service. While each member must believe in a Supreme Being, it is not important how one expresses that belief. There is no dogmatic system in Freemasonry, but confusion about its secular nature has been common.
The Holy Book on the altar in a Masonic lodge can be any Holy Book, but the King James Version of the Bible is the most commonly used in lodges in the U. S. Freemasonry and other forms operate in the open, with many events open to the public.
What is the most famous Scottish symbol?
The Scottish flag, or’saltire’, is derived from the cross of St Andrew, Scotland’s patron saint. Its adoption is believed to date back to a battle in 756 between Picts and Scots against Northumbrians. King Angus I of Scots prayed to St Andrew, and a vision of the cross helped the Scots win. The flag is seen flying throughout Scotland, particularly at Athelstaneford, near Haddington, East Lothian. The cross is also part of the Union Flag, symbolizing the United Kingdom. The Lion Rampant flag, chosen by William I of Scotland, features a red lion surrounded by a fleurs-de-lis border.
Who is the father of all Masonic people?
Desaguliers, often referred to as the “father” of modern freemasonry, played a significant role in the formation of the “Gothic Constitutions” and the formation of the United Grand Lodge. He insisted on remembering ritual rather than writing it down, leading to a lack of material on the development of English ritual until after the formation of the United Grand Lodge.
The new Grand Lodge embarked on an era of self-publicity, leading to the sudden expansion of speculative masonry and a rise in anti-masonic groups and publications. Initiations began to be reported in newspapers, and the Duke of Wharton joined an anti-masonic group called the Gormagons shortly after leaving office. The installation of the new Grand Master was the occasion for a parade, which became the subject of ridicule until mock processions by anti-masonic groups began in 1740, leading to the discontinuation of the practice in 1747.
The Constitutions of the Free-Masons, “For the Use of the Lodges” in London and Westminster, was published in 1723, edited by presbyterian clergyman James Anderson and approved by a Grand Lodge committee under Desaguliers’ control. The work was reprinted in Philadelphia in 1734 by Benjamin Franklin, who was elected Grand Master of Masons in Pennsylvania that year.
What is the difference between a Mason and a Scottish Rite?
The Scottish Rite is a full Rite of Freemasonry, not an appendant body. Master Masons from other rites may join the upper degrees starting from the 4th degree due to its popularity. The Scottish Rite builds upon the ethical teachings and philosophy offered in the Craft (or Blue) Lodge through dramatic presentations of its individual degrees. The term “Blue Lodge” refers to the first three degrees of Masonry, regardless of the Rite being practiced.
Records of lodges conferring the degree of “Scots Master” or “Scotch Master” as early as 1733 include a lodge at Temple Bar in London, a lodge at Bath in 1735, and the French lodge, St. George de l’Observance No. 49 at Covent Garden in 1736. These references indicate special meetings held for performing unusual ceremonies, probably by visiting Freemasons.
The Copiale cipher, dating from the 1740s, says that the rank of a Scottish master is an entirely new invention. French writers Jean-Marie Ragon and Emmanuel Rebold first claimed that the high degrees were created and practiced in Lodge Canongate Kilwinning at Edinburgh, which is entirely false.
What is the motto of the Scottish Rite?
The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is the most widely practiced rite within the broader context of Freemasonry. It is a concordant body overseeing all degrees from the 1st to 33rd degrees, while in other areas, a Supreme Council oversees the 4th to 33rd degrees. The Scottish Rite is commonly referred to as the Rose Croix in England and Australia, and is not to be confused with other Masonic related Rosicrucian societies. It stands as a full Rite of Freemasonry and not an appendant body.
Master Masons from other rites may join the Scottish Rite’s upper degrees starting from the 4th degree due to its popularity. The Scottish Rite builds upon the ethical teachings and philosophy offered in the Craft (or Blue) Lodge through dramatic presentations of its individual degrees. The term “Blue Lodge” refers to the first three degrees of Masonry, regardless of the Rite being practiced. In the Scottish Rite system, the first three degrees are considered Blue Lodge degrees rather than “Red Lodge”.
What is the 14th degree of the Scottish Rite Masons?
The 14th degree of the Lodge of Perfection represents the essence of Symbolic Masonry, emphasizing the unity of human and divine knowledge for perfection. Members are encouraged to engage in worship at their own discretion, and the 14th degree, or Grand Elect Mason at the Valleys, is a noteworthy figure within the lodge.
What are the four Scottish Rite bodies?
Individual states are designated as “Orients,” while local bodies are referred to as “Valleys.” Each Valley is comprised of four Scottish Rite bodies. The Lodge of Perfection oversees the 4th through 14th degrees, the Chapter of Rose Croix manages the 15th through 18th degrees, and the Council of Kadosh is responsible for the 19th through the highest degree.
What is the royal secret in the 32nd degree Scottish Rite?
The 32nd degree of Freemasonry espouses the belief that humans are endowed with the Royal Secret, which is described as the eternal gift of God, namely love. This secret is not transferable and was bestowed upon humanity at the moment of creation, when the Father instilled life into man and thus made him a living soul. The cherishing of this love is a divine attribute and serves as evidence that all humans are the children of God.
What are the symbols for the Scottish Rites?
The 32nd Degree Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction allows a Sublime Prince of the Royal Secret to wear a ring with the double-headed Scottish Rite eagle. There is no officially mandated design, so 32nd degree Scottish Rite rings can vary greatly in appearance. Common symbols include the number 32, triangles, the Hebrew letter yod, and the square and compasses. Customized rings may also contain symbols from other Masonic orders, such as the Shriner’s crescent and scimitar, the York Rite triple Tau, or the Knights Templar cross.

S. military is a symbol of public service, with Freemasons striving to serve their community and nation, particularly in the Scottish Rite, where Devotion to Country is one of their six Core Values. These knights are selected from the Consistory for their exemplary service to Masonry or humanity, as evidenced by the red cap they wear.
📹 What are the SECRETS of the 33° Masons? Autocomplete Interview, a 33 Degree Freemason confesses
In this video, channel host and 33rd degree Scottish Rite Freemason Maynard Edwards answers ten of the Internet’s most burning …
He’s spot on regarding how you become one. I’ve been a 32nd for what feels like ever. I’ve filled out the passport, and the golden passport. But it’s unlikely I will ever receive my 33rd. Because I’m just not active. I don’t participate in any of the community events the Scottish Rite runs, nor do I participate in the dramas. I’ve spent who knows how many years sitting on the sidelines and just being quiet. And that won’t get you to the 33rd. But between work, and my other masonic obligations in other appendant bodies, there just isn’t time to add one more requirement to my life at the moment.
I’m still convinced you rode a giant eagle 🦅 while fighting a dragon 🐉 in the nether realm to earn your 33° You can’t fool Maynard. I was here when you had 1k subs, now since the slayed dragon of Tartarus and became a 33° Mason, your subscriber base has swelled to 26k. If that is not black magic ✨ idk what is
I am related to a Grand Cross and “stumbled” through some very interesting books that I was heavily chastised for getting into when I was younger… I have seen so many hats and symbols it’s unreal. I have been asking for and interview since I was 16 and he always refused; until just recently, and I’m now 34. I’m excited to see what secrets I may catch a glimpse of, if any. He has always been very secretive about lodge… Thanks for sharing!
Greetings from cultores de la acacia 77 Bogota Brother Maynard! The age of Christ Crucified works fine. 33 was his age and he is the Master. Also,33 has deep numeralogical meaning, plus, the Vedic arcana holds 33 as a most significant DIVINE number, along with 3 . Its all perfect once you now the fundamental truth
I am curious about the 33rd degree, about how many people it takes to open a 33rd degree lodge. I don’t know many 33rd degree masons and it just seems like to me that it would be very difficult to put on that degree. I’m not Scottish rite either, I know i could learn more about it just by joining. I know how many it takes to open a MM lodge and to put on a MM degree, but I know very few 33rd degree masons and it just seems very unlikely to have that many people to do the degree, unless I guess if it were done by the international group, maybe?? I really enjoy your articles, thanks for sharing. My home lodge is Florence Lodge #14, Florence AL
Hey man! You seem like a reputable Mason. I’m a huge fan of the YouTube website “Esoteric Freemasonry Unveiled”. If you’ve ever got the time, would you mind checking out an episode or 2 and letting me know your opinion on it! Unfortunately the owner of that website vanished off YouTube years ago after only posting 13 articles. Though his course was left incomplete, I feel it gave me some very valuable tools. I’d be very curious to see what a currently active and reputable mason such as yourself thinks of the website! Appreciate you bringing more light to the community bro!
Nice vid. I’ve always felt compelled to pursue the greatest interests of mankind, to wit. A way to be influential, powerful and protected. The inner me is gasping to find out more knowledge about the human race and about the things that not everyone is destined to know. I wish to blossom into the enlightenment that our forebears wanted so desperately for us to gain.
Can one be forced to join ?even on penalty of death ?! I have been heavily recruited by the local lodge. They even went so far as to send an assassin to kill me. He gave me the first, second, and third degree, not of initiation, but interrogation . He kept demanding”what about harem of beef ?”?!…i still have no idea what he was talking about.
I’ve always heard 33 vertebrae in the spine which leads to the firmament which is the skull. But than again it’s just a theory. But I believe you’re very authentic with your answers. But I also believe some knowledge isn’t for everybody so people need to not be bothered by anyone being a Mason. Lots of people don’t agree with it but if everyone knew all of it the mystery goes away. Not knowing is what makes it interesting love this article
10 sefirot + 22 paths in the tree of life=32 degrees? Thats one theory ive read. Many esoteric schools use the tree of life as a model for initiation including Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and others so it would make sense in my opinion. You think that might be one explanation? Also i want to ask if Memphis-Misraim is recognized as an official masonic body? It has over 90 degrees and they say it in their website and i think it is more egyptian in its symbolism and rituals.
In my interpretation 33 is one more then 32 Hebral, cabalistic letters. 33 i the same as 0, that is why 33 apron is white again. When mason recives 33 apron it means that untill He is alive he still have a lot to learn, so we apron is white ( first again apron). 33 is 1- again. This is just my personal interpretation. What do You think 🙂 ?
“When the Mason learns that the key to the warrior on the block is the proper application of the dynamo of living power, he has learned the mystery of his craft. The seething energies of Lucifer are in his hands and before he may step onwards and upwards he must prove his ability to properly apply (this) energy.” ‘Lost Keys of Freemasonry’ page 48, Manley P Hall 33rd degree.
Why does the Catholic Church say you aren’t allowed to be a mason? I’m ex military and God has definitely shown me how to identify a mason. That I’m sure of. Why do I know this and yet im not a mason? Has there been any conflict, physical, between catholics and masons? Last why not share any hidden knowledge freely? I guess what the reason behind it? Just to gain memebers?
I am so grateful you are here to dispel the disinformation regarding free masonry. My grandfather was a 33rd degree Mason. I only learned this at his funeral, when his brothers performed the final rites. He was a kind, smart and generous man. It just really pisses me off when I hear people speaking down on Free Masonry.
QUESTION: my grandfather was a 32nd master Scottish Rite Freemason. He passed away 24 years ago due to a heart attack and is not around to explain the masons to me. I am an only child. I was named after Rudyard Kiplings book Kim. My name kid Kimberly C.P. My birthday is 02-27-71. In October I experienced some sort of awakening and I know things. I can’t go into those things but I view history religion etc. Differently. I have a connection to the Sirius star, Polaris etc. I’m related to the Duthie’s shipyards in Scotland. I’m also half Italian. I have been called a key and my name and birthday are unlocking many things like a combination to a combination lock. I’m trying to fit everything together. If my grandfather was alive he could help me. I joined the moose lodge near me. I need help understand my connection to things and what it means to be the key. I solved ancient writing in Scotland that proves king author was real using Greek geometry. I scared because I don’t understand. I also know that what I know is dangerous to elites. I saw the Johnny Depp trial and I didn’t catch things the first time when it came out. Then I had this, transcendence at the end of October. It has lasted a long time. When I think I have become normal it begins again. I felt the horses riding in October. I could feel the earth contracting. I recognize numbers and I know things with mathematics. I know dates and events. I know things about all religions. I see history from a to z like one giant story.
Given that the Scottish Rite, started in France, & there’s the Scottish Rite, in the UK & elsewhere, perhaps the American latitude/ lond… reference us probably not correct? Better like you say, nobody living, really knows… I mean, there was only 2 Degrees in the craft before hey! All the best, W.Brother from the UK
1/3 33.333333333333333333333333333333333333333333… not just because. No way. My column that is my spine has 33 vertebra. Steps to the house of my soul, my skull. Come on, can’t you guys come up with something spooky lol. Not just because. I guess I’ll have to join to find out. These guys know how to keep a secret. My Grandfather was a 33⁰ mansion and I sure hope I can join the ranks. I strongly doubt I’ll make it that high but I’m a good dude with a massive brain. Just maybe
I own a 1st edition copy of “MacArthur His Rendezvous with History” by author Courtney Whitney 1955, signed by 32nd Degree Mason who served as a pilot in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam wars: Captain Malcom E. Huckleberry, U.S.A.F. You can watch an interview with him hosted by the Library of Congress here (both he and his wife have since passed): loc.gov/item/afc2001001.15816/
Plenty of questions. Since freemasonry is woven into religion, politics, and government, what avenues in existence, has the reach of Freemasonry, not yet reached? Why does the organization allow anyone of any “Faith”, excludes Athiests, yet allows members that worship opposing gods, even if it is a god that is against The Almighty Creator (our Father whom is above all things, the one whom Yeshuah is one with.)? You claim being Christian, which means you follow Yeshuahs example, who is the G.A.O.T.U.? Why is that not The Creator instead it is an Architect?
Hello, you are absolutely telling the true. But there’s more than 33° but you are not aware of it. And 26 letters in the alphabet is not coincidence, it’s perfect designed. If we were to add an extra letter, we would affect the entire universe. As 33° freemason you are fully aware of the universal laws. And btw nice website 👍
Why is 33 mason number… If you count A to Z and start back over, “G” is the 33rd letter. “G” stands for GOD. There are also 33 steps on Jacob’s ladder to heaven. As said in the article, Jesus was also 33 when crucified, and your backbone also has 33 vertebrae’s. The number is the golden thread that connects all aspects of the physical, mental and emotional. One who becomes a 33, is a Master teacher. Regarding the mason cross, it also represents the 3 worlds (HELL/Earth/Heaven). Albert Pike, wears one in his photo. Thank you for this article, and I hope my input on the number 33 helps those that want more of an explanation as to why it’s 33. If you like to know even more, please ask in the comments, thank you and Have a blessed day,
My grandpa was a mason and when he died he had a very supernatural experience when he died at 96 and it was undoubtedly that he went to hell. He randomly woke up after being a vegetable for 3 weeks, sat up in his death bed, even looked younger, and he had a look like he was looking at paradise beyond the realm of what we were seeing, beyond the room.. then he was suddenly pulled away from that place that was probably heaven then was pulled away to hell, he thrashed in terror grabbing anything he could grab onto, freaking out. Then laid back down and died
Nice content. I’ve always felt compelled to pursue the greatest interests of mankind, to wit. A way to be influential, powerful and protected. always felt the need to be recognized wherever i go, not because i am proud or clamorous but because of who i am and what i represent. The inner me is gasping to find out more knowledge about the human race and about the things that not everyone is destined to know. I wish to blossom into the enlightenment that our forebears wanted so desperately for us to gain!!
