The Cleveland Browns’ mascot, Brownie the Elf, made his debut at FirstEnergy Stadium in Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets. Brownie has been the official mascot of the Cleveland Browns since the franchise was created, and prior to the Browns’ existence in Cleveland, the Rams were the NFL team occupying the field. The name Brownie comes from Scottish folklore and is a classic figure from the team’s early years. As of 2024, the Cleveland Browns’ mascot name is Brownie the Elf. He stands at 6ft 1 inch tall and wears a jersey with the number “00”. His home is listed as The Dawg Pound, in reference to the name of the bleacher section at First Energy Stadium.
Brownie the Elf was one of three original logos for the Browns when they came into existence starting in 1946. The logo/mascot was phased out after the former team. As of 2024, Brownie the Elf is one of the official mascots of the National Football League’s Cleveland Browns. Not used as often as the team’s more well-known mascots, Brownie the Elf represents the Dawg Pound, created in the 80s as a tribute to the Browns’ defense.
The Browns “dawg logo”, a secondary logo introduced in 2023, is a secondary logo used at midfield since 2022. The Browns’ mascot Brownie the Elf has been a symbol of the team’s history and identity.
