Synastry is a method of relationship astrology that involves the comparative study of two individuals’ birth charts to assess compatibility and relationship dynamics. It is based on Vedic astrology, which explores karmic connections, planetary influences, nakshatras (lunar mansions), planetary dignity (house rulership), and planetary aspects (grahas). A Vedic Love Compatibility horoscope calculates the planet positions of both partners and shows their mutual compatibility.
Key astrological indicators of karmic connections in Vedic astrology include the North Node and South Node, also known as Rahu and Ketu. Ketu is power, and the North Node represents the North and South Nodes. Synastry charts help determine strengths and weaknesses in romantic relationships or marriages, providing valuable insights for understanding one’s partner and their futures.
A synastry chart represents a mutual energetic field that combines two personal natal charts, lining up the signs to read for the Houses and Planets between two people. Each zodiac sign represents an individual’s essence, and synastry describes how each person’s cosmic DNA interacts with another person’s, based on how they manage their own individual.
To check compatibility between two individuals through their birth horoscope, astrologers compare their planetary positions and show important things that need to be completed and work out. By entering your and your potential partner’s date of birth, you can take love compatibility to the next level using a Vedic Astrology Compatibility Calculator.

What does synastry mean in astrology?
Synastry astrology is a method of astrological analysis that compares the astrological charts of two individuals to identify strengths and weaknesses in a romantic relationship or marriage. This approach provides valuable insights for understanding one’s partner and future prospects of the relationship.
How does Vedic synastry differ from Western synastry?
Vedic synastry is a tool used to predict relationships, but it is not a guarantee of success. It can indicate potential challenges but does not predict definitive outcomes like divorce. Free will and personal growth play significant roles in relationship longevity. Vedic synastry can be applied to same-sex relationships, regardless of gender, and can be successful with someone who is astrologically incompatible.
It differs from Western astrological compatibility in that it uses the sidereal zodiac and places more emphasis on the Moon sign. It also incorporates unique factors like the 8 Kootas, which are not used in Western astrology.
True compatibility is a complex interplay of factors, with love and mutual respect at its core. A personalized astrological reading can provide insights into your unique cosmic makeup, offering fresh perspectives on career decisions, relationship questions, and self-understanding. Despite some skepticism, Vedic synastry can offer practical insights that can help modern lives.
How to read synastry chart Vedic astrology?
Synastry astrology is a method used to understand how people relate to each other through their natal birth charts. It helps determine how people connect and interact with each other, allowing us to identify similarities, hardships, and issues that may arise from the relationship. Houses in a synastry chart can affect the first house, which indicates a sense of being seen by the other. Houses can also control finances and contribute to confidence. Overall, synastry astrology helps us understand how relationships work cohesively and can provide valuable insights into personal growth and relationships.
What is the synastry between planets?
Synastry involves analyzing the planets in each person’s chart, which can be harmonious, challenging, or neutral. Key aspects include conjunctions, trines, sextiles, squares, and oppositions. Conjunctions involve planets in the same sign or close proximity, intensifying feelings and behaviors. Trines, 120 degrees apart, represent harmony and ease, suggesting a natural understanding between individuals. These aspects can create strong bonds or potential friction between individuals.
What part of your birth chart determines your soulmate?
Astrology is a fascinating field that provides insights into our personalities, life paths, and relationships. It is particularly intriguing in identifying soulmate aspects in astrology charts, which are formed by the interaction of planets and points in two individuals’ charts. These aspects can reveal deep, karmic connections that suggest a profound and lasting bond. One of the most powerful indicators of a soulmate connection is the aspect between the Sun in one chart and the Moon in the other.
A harmonious aspect, such as a conjunction, trine, or sextile, suggests a deep emotional and intuitive understanding between partners. The Sun represents the core self and vitality, while the Moon governs emotions and subconscious needs. This aspect is a blend of conscious and unconscious harmony, suggesting a profound and transformative relationship between partners.
What is Jupiter and Rahu synastry?
The conjunction of Jupiter and Rahu is a dynamic and potent astrological sign that indicates a strong intellect, an insatiable appetite for knowledge, and a talent for communication. Nevertheless, it can also give rise to difficulties such as making excessive promises, restlessness, and a tendency towards materialism.
Which house has your soulmate?
In an astrology chart, the 7th house is the house of partnership, whether in life or business. Astrologers help find our soul mate by analyzing the 7th house and evaluating Karma for positive and negative experiences connected with partnership. The presence of benefic planets like Jupiter or Venus can lead to more positive experiences, while malefic planets like Saturn, Mars, or the Sun can result in negative experiences.
The 5th house, also known as the house of past lines and romance, signifies love marriage and spiritual practices. If the 5th and 7th houses are present, it signifies the relationship as spiritual soul mates. The 9th house, which is the house of good fortune, beliefs, and mysterious deeds, helps an astrologer find a soul mate.
The 12th house, which is the house of loss, spiritual, and meditation, can indicate ideal love in the long run. In Gemini lagna charts, Venus is the ruler of both the 5th and 12th houses, and its placement in the 7th house with the 7th house lord indicates ideal love in the long run.
To determine when the 7th house Karma will be activated, astrologers use techniques such as Dasha System and Gochar. The dasha of the 7th lord or a planet sitting in the 7th house activates the timing with the partner, while Gochar rectifies or gives perfection to the timing.
For a successful partnership, partners must have the desire and ability to surrender ego and unconditionally love each other. Preparing for their “Soul Mate” is crucial to make each other’s life heaven rather than finding them outside the outside world.
What is the synastry compatibility horoscope?
Astrological compatibility (synastry) is a branch of astrology that aims to show compatibility between romantic partners. A natal horoscope is a chart or map of the angles of the planets in the Solar System and their positions in the zodiac at the exact time of a person’s birth. These angles represent the positive and negative relationships between the planets, describing the relationship between the two people under consideration. Compatibility between Zodiac signs is always approached within a particular branch of astrological tradition: Western astrology, Vedic astrology, or Chinese astrology.
Carl Jung’s work in his book Synchronicity demonstrated the principle of synchrony. He found a correlation between married couples that matched astrological prediction, but could not find a causal relationship to explain his correlations. He termed Synchronicity an acausal principle.
The Hindu/Indian system of examining compatibility based on horoscopes of the aspirant couple is unique. The fundamental concept of matching horoscopes emanates from constellations occupied by the Ascendant/Lagna (Lagna) at the time of births of bride and groom. Various constellations represent different natures, such as casts, animals, sex, Gana (God/man/demon), humor, birds, primordial elements, Gotra, directions ruled, consonants and vowels, mutual harmony and repulsion with certain stars, and beneficence to other stars by virtue of mutual distance.
What is the most powerful house in the birth chart?
The angular houses in the chart are the most powerful, while succedent houses, less powerful but more powerful than the cadent houses, have a quality similar to the angular houses. The second house, which succeeds the first house of the body and personality, signifies the things that belong to the person, while the eighth house, following the seventh house of the partner or spouse, represents the belongings of the other person. Succedent houses have a stable, unchanging, fixed quality, deriving from their central position in each quadrant of the chart.
While some houses have malefic or weak connotations, they are productive houses where matters normally take root and flourish, such as possessions or children. The second house signifies the possessions of the person or event for which the chart was cast, and this meaning has persisted unchanged for several thousand years. Modern astrologers may perceive a correspondence between the second house and the sign Taurus, but traditional astrologers did not. Hellenistic astrologers considered the second house the “Gate of Hades”, leading to the houses beneath the horizon of the chart.
What synastry aspect is soulmate?
Venus-Mars aspects are crucial for generating romantic chemistry and sexual attraction in relationships. Venus rules love and beauty, while Mars rules desire and vitality. When these two planets connect favorably, the relationship passion is high, resulting in charm, affection, and mutual appreciation. Even years into the relationship, the bond goes deeper than physical attraction, as the couple enjoys laughter, being playful, and having adventures together. Their shared zest for life is a significant part of what makes them soulmates.
Which houses are good in synastry?
Traditional teachings emphasize the importance of the “love” houses (5th, 7th, 8th) for good love synastry and worthwhile romantic connections. However, this perspective is challenged as our charts differ, and our approach to love also varies. A new perspective was proposed by reviewing the charts of over 50 people, focusing on long-term partners, short-term partners, crushes, and those with whom one did not have romantic interest. The analysis revealed common themes, with the strongest or most lasting connections receiving more weight.

This is so accurate. I have my Moon in Sag and I’ve found out that I get along with people with same Moon in Sag, and I feel instant, magical attraction to people with Moon in Gemini, Sun in Gemini. My Venus is in Aquarius and I’m also attracted to the people with Leo placements, especially with Leo lagnas, I just love the nature of people wth strong placements in Leo, like Sun in Leo in a good house, which makes the person confident, fun and creative.

We have both Saturns in 7th houses and also Rahus in 2th and Ketus in 8ths. Both Saturns in Libra and Ketus in Scorpios. My moon in western astrology is in scorpio, his moon in vedic is scorpio. What does it mean ? Both obsessed with each other but never dated, life cirmustances. Now I know that I knew him from somewhere else “before” this life. And I had a feeling like “home” when I met him, its not possible to describe. But its horrible to experience this because he would never date me, he rejected me twice (because in his opinion we are not compatible because when we first met, it was super explosive and we immediately broke up. However at the same time he always wanted to cheat his girlfriends with me but I never agreed because I have moral standards but maybe I made a mistake… ) and I have never met anyone else since then, I would fall in love so I am years and years single. this is my story
As much as I love vedic and use dashas and nakshatras and ashtakvarga points to make predictions, I still find western astrology better for compatibility. Synastry and composite charts are so much easier to use than trying to do it vedically. Yeah the yoni and nakshatras should be compatible and the nakshatras should not be in an inauspicious 6-8 position from each other, but I prefer western astrology.
My rahu in his 7th. His rahu in my 8th. My Saturn conjunct his ketu. His Saturn conjunct my ketu. My moon conjunct his sun-venus. My moon opposite his moon. His moon conjunct my Jupiter. My Mars aspect his Venus. His Mars aspect my Venus. When we first met, it was an instant connection. Matter of fact, we connected very easily and effortlessly on the phone before the first actual meeting in real life. It was instant yet very deep. Nothing superficial about us.
Thank you so much all for making this article and spreading the knowledge. However i have ONE REQUEST : can you please make a article and discuss about how to clean ourselves from the residue of the chart after giving a astrology reading. I am a new student of astrology however i don’t know about this how to do so. Can you please help me ?
Team Pai – you guys really need to fix your conference call bugs. Between Sandeeps constant article bugginess and Adi’s microphone in past articles being super soft & the CONSTANT background noises – this has continued for so many articles. C’mon guys – you do this regularly enough to avoid these ongoing problems. Go to a cyber cafe if need be 🙂
I have analysed literally every married couple chart be it celeb or commoner Without amiss I found every person’s sun/moon somehow conjunct rahu/ketu of their partner. And this kinda makes me sad 😅 cause I have this person in my heart I wanna be with, marry with, have kids with but we don’t have this sun/moon-rahu/ketu synastry in our charts and this kinda makes me sad 😅
Hello. Thank you for this share. When u say one planet playing out on the other, is it to do only with 1) conjunction (I mean one planet falling on the other person’s chart and 2) 1-7 axis? Or even planets special aspects? Ex. Saturn having 3,10 aspect and Rahu and ketu with its 5,9 aspcet nd mars it’s 4,8 aspect?
Very nice discussion! If we overlay one chart over another, D1 over D1, and you see your 7th lord sitting in their 7th house…but Debilitated. Then what to conclude..? Eg. Person X, Cancer Lagna, 7th house is Capricorn. Now the other Person Y has Virgo lagna, and 7th lord Jupiter is sitting in Capricorn, which falls in the 7th house of X. I’ll add some more angles here. This is a real chart btw…of two people I know. The combinations are amazing. I definitely see a connection, but I don’t know what to conclude. All the combinations below are from their charts. 1. X has Tula and Makara as Dagdha rashis, and Y has Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces as Dagdha Rashis. So both X and Y have 7th house in their respective charts as Dagdha houses. Jupiter is Dagdha lord and 7th lord for Y, and debilitated, sitting in 7th house of X. Saturn is Dagdha lord and 7th lord for X, sitting in Virgo, which is Y’s Ascendant. What would you conclude from this? 2. Y’s 7th lord Jupiter is in Capricorn in Shravana nakshatra, ruled by Moon. Capricorn is X’s 7th house. Moon is Y’s Darakaraka. X’s 7th lord is Saturn and also X’s Darakaraka. Saturn is sitting in Virgo, in Uttaraphalguni. So X’s Darakaraka as well as 7th lord is sitting on Y’s Lagna. 3. X’s Moon is in Aries at 4 degrees Ashwini. Moon is Y’s Darakaraka. Y’s Saturn is in Scorpio at 4 degrees Anuradha. Saturn is X’s Darakaraka. So both X and Y’s DK planets are in same degrees. 4. X’s Moon is in Aries. Y’s Rahu is in Aries. Y’s Moon is in Leo.
Respected teachers my darakaraka jupiter and her darakaraka Venus ar in oppsite signs same degrees and virgottama (Cancer-Capricorn)….and all the planets except moon are in trinal relationship in d1-d9, d9-d1 and d9-d9…In d1 sun moon are in 1-7 …. What are you divine comments on these placements sir if you englighten me on it.
I have moon in Aries, jupiter in Gemini, ketu in leo, sun+ Mercury+ mars in virgo, venus in Libra, Saturn in Sagittarius and Rahu in Aquarius. My husband has Mars+ketu in Gemini, Sun+mercury+ Jupiter in Leo, venus in virgo, moon in Libra, Rahu in Sagittarius, Saturn in Capricorn. Can anyone tell me about this please🙏🏻??

How does the following synastry manifest in professional relationship ? I get strange feelings with this person. (B’s Asc unknown) 🎶Conj A to B MC to Lilith (2°) Sun to Sun (0°),Mercury (3°) Mercury to Jupiter(0°) Pluto to SN(0°) Moon to NN(2°) 🎶Opp Mars & Lilith to Moon 🎶Square Mars & Lilith to Jupiter(2°) Mercury to Moon 🎶Trine Moon to Sun(2°),Moon Sun to Moon, NN(1°) 🎶Sextile Mars & Lilith to Sun(0°),Mercury (3°), NN(2°) Jupiter to Saturn (1°),Venus (2°) Pluto to Sun(0°),Mercury(3°),Moon Quite intellectually, emotionally and professionally nurturing relationship. But unable to work with B continuously, due to some issue cropping up and we have to stop working together. Feel unusually safe, comfortable and deeply attached with B for absolutely no reason. (Speaking with B is like speaking with myself and B’s words soothes like a lullaby). Strangely trust and obey B many at times. It is like my brain says, it is correct since B says so (quite unlike my usual character) and refuses to analyse however far I try ! Once or twice to my utter dismay,B was just repeating the exact same sentence word by word, I just completed telling in my mind ! Quite a strange experience! Any explanation ?
