  • The problem is they heard the words “black” and “gay” and immediately got offended because everyone’s afraid of the truth these days smh. Whenever you mention a specific group even if the comment is positive ppl are gonna get upset because for some reason it’s deemed taboo to even speak of certain topics unfortunately. Those ppl have no sense of humor and really his joke wasn’t really a joke, it was honestly a real life issue that they just weren’t ready for.

  • This feels very much like what Dave Chapelle does. Nimesh isn’t just trying to bury something in the past and move on, rather he’s trying to man up, rise upto the ocassion, dissect it infront of live audience, ruminate what went wrong, save his face and be funny at the same time. Absolutely Brilliant!! This guy is really going places.

  • I want to thank you for inspiring me. I’m a comedian/actor. I love your honesty and it reminded me of a bit I wrote years ago but never had the clarity or the courage to tell. It’s about how there are insane and sane people of every race. I’m going to try it out as soon as I get a chance to hit the stage again after all this covid sadness.

  • Nimesh, as a gay black man who is somewhat of a comedian myself (a few years ago I ran for president of the U.S. {in drag} ) and that joke you told is one of the funniest I have ever heard coming from the mouth of a straight man. I usually don’t give breeders…oops! sorry. Straight people, especially men, any credit for being aware that much. Fuck. Now I’m gonna have to take some of my own medicine and not put everyone in the same basket, huh? Thanks a lot, Patel.

  • Being a comedian is difficult, I sound like I am a comedian, no I don’t have the confidence to crack a joke in front of the family so no but I have a lot of respect for comedians as they listen to jokes to get the vibe so you might think the person is copying another comedian but how else does a joke get mad Easily? Trial and error, give them the benefit of the doubt or you jump on the stage and see how it is hard

  • so I get that this is years later, but I remember when this first came out and I remember perusal the footage and thinking it was all way overblown but I think why the bit at Columbia bombed was because your stage energy was a little flat and the delivery/timing was a little off… but the material was definitely there. (You shouldn’t have to explain onstage why a joke should be funny). But one of my favorite bits of your set was the bit about the homeless in L.A also being vegetarians… your material is definitely solid and I’m glad to see that in your more recent performances your stage presence and delivery has gotten so much better. Keep up the good work

  • For me, the main difference between an actual racist joke and a joke that appears racists is the meaning behind it. The being black and gay joke is a critique of the intolerance in our society, whereas a “what do you say when you see your TV floating in the middle of the night” joke is purely racist.

  • I really appreciate that he can be clear about the fact that a reaction to his set is not “cancelled” or attacking free speech. Free speech means the GOVERNMENT can’t punish you for saying what you want, not your peers or other general citizens. Hes funny & ppl at that school thought the joke was in poor taste comedy is subjective it happens 🤷🏾‍♀️ Idk why anybody who isn’t a gay black person is giving their unsolicited opinion tho lmao He’s right is hard enough

  • In which universe was that racist? It’s a profoundly deep observation that he made, delivered with great wit. I cannot believe there are people that are so stuck up that they can’t take a joke. This PC and cancel culture has gone too far. But, the joke is on them. He’s gotten more mileage because of this. He’s a great comic. And I’m not saying this because I’m Indian. He’s just good. PERIOD
