The Church has been vigilant in detecting signs of abuse in the practice of wearing protection amulets, which were objects inscribed with mysterious formulae and used by pagans for protection against various diseases. The Council of Laodicea in the fourth century forbidding clergy from sorcery, conjuring, or making amulets was a significant step in this process.
The use of amulets, which were believed to offer talismanic protection to their owners, grew out of popular ignorance and fear. With the advent of the Christian religion, Jesus’s followers would often resort to protection amulets to guard themselves from illness and harm. These amulets, also known as good luck charms or phylacteries, were part of a broad arsenal of religious objects that helped early modern men and women negotiate the divine in daily life.
Amulets, either natural or man-made, were believed to be endowed with special powers to protect or bring good fortune. They were touched with the relics of saints or images of grace and then taken home. Church authorities refuted what they saw as a superstition and an abomination to the Christian faith, but the appearance of Christian symbols on amulets began to increase in the second century and continued to be a significant part of the narrative of European healing.
In conclusion, the Church has been vigilant in detecting and addressing the abuse of protection amulets, which have played a significant role in shaping the history of Christianity.

What are the origins of amulets?
Ancient Egyptians used amulets (meket) for protection and reaffirming the fairness of the universe. The oldest amulets date back to the predynastic Badarian Period and persisted until Roman times. Pregnant women would wear amulets depicting Taweret, the goddess of childbirth, to protect against miscarriage. The god Bes, believed to be the protector of children, was believed to be the protector of children. After giving birth, a mother would remove her Taweret amulet and replace it with a new one representing Bes.
Amulets often featured specific symbols, such as the ankh and the Eye of Horus, which represented the new eye given to Horus by the god Thoth. Amulets were often made to represent gods, animals, or hieroglyphs, such as the scarab beetle, the emblem of the god Khepri. The most common material for such amulets was Egyptian faience or tjehenet, but they could also be made of stone, metal, bone, wood, and gold. Phylacteries containing texts were another common form of amulet.
Can Christians have Omamori?
Omamori, a term meaning ‘protection’, are small amulets made from paper or wood. They are found in Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples and are available for purchase regardless of religious affiliation. Omamori are made sacred through ritual and may contain spiritual offshoots in a Shinto context or manifestations in a Buddhist context. They are intended for personal use by temple tourists but are mainly viewed as a donation to the shrine or temple the person is visiting. Visitors often give omamori as a gift as a physical form of well-wishing.
Why can’t you wear a rosary necklace?
The author, raised in a Catholic home, has experienced religious exposure and respects the traditions of various religions. However, they have noticed many people wearing rosaries as ornamental additions to their outfits. Rosaries are a special symbol and prayer guide for Catholics, Anglicans, and Lutherans, and are not meant to be worn around the neck. They are meant to be held and prayed with, with each bead representing a prayer.
The author believes that wearing a rosary as a necklace is not only a burden on oneself but also commits to positive behavior. Cursing, acting irrationally, being rude, or impatient ruin the concept of the rosary, disgracing the tradition. A friend pointed out that it is everyone’s right to wear a rosary if they would like, but it is up to them to accept the consequences of their actions.
The author compares wearing a rosary as a thief to a thief who is tried in court and punished by the judicial system. The consequence of not respecting the tradition of the rosary is offending a large quantity of people (approximately 1. 26 billion people worldwide). Wearing a rosary ornamentally is rude, disrespectful, and ignorant. If you are going to adopt an aspect of someone else’s culture, denomination, or religion, educate yourself on the topic to avoid offending people.
There are plenty of beautiful crucifix necklaces available for those who wish to display symbols of Catholicism. However, please have respect for our religion and leave your rosary out of your outfit plans. Respect traditions, even those you do not understand.
In conclusion, the author emphasizes the importance of respecting traditions and traditions, even if they may not be understood by others. By supporting student journalists at Mississippi State University and educating others about the importance of respecting traditions, individuals can contribute to a more inclusive and respectful environment for all.
Are amulets allowed in Christianity?
The use of talismans and other magical items is prohibited in biblical passages, and Christians are encouraged to trust in God’s providence. Catholicism allows the use of images, medals, and other faith expressions, but not under the belief that these items possess power. Instead, these items help believers stay focused on God’s presence and trust in His presence through regular acts of faith. Any power associated with these expressions belongs to God, not the objects themselves. Those who have mistakenly used superstitious or magical items are encouraged to recognize their mistake, seek forgiveness, and renew their faith in God alone.
Can Catholics wear amulets?
Amulets, or phulakterions, were objects inscribed with mysterious formulae used by pagans as protection against various diseases and witchcraft. The word’s origin is uncertain but likely comes from the Arabic word “hamala”, meaning “to carry”. The Oriental peoples were particularly addicted to superstitious practices, and with their absorption into the Roman Empire, the use of amulets became equally common in the West.
The Church, following Moses’ example, allowed the use of emblems that would remind bearers of some doctrine of Christianity. St. Clement of Alexandria recommended the use of symbols such as the fish, dove, and anchor on seals and rings.
Devotional medals of lead, attributed to the fourth century, represented martyrs extended on gridirons, the monogram of Christ and a cross between the letters A and fl, and the sacrifice of Abraham. Pope St. Gregory the Great sent the Lombard queen, Theodolinda, two phylacteria, one containing a fragment of the wood of the True Cross and the other a sentence of the Gospel. The custom of carrying portions of the Sacred Scriptures as phylacteries was mentioned by St. Jerome and St. John Chrysostom.
However, superstitious abuses in the use of devotional emblems became so common that ecclesiastical authorities were often obliged to inveigh against the use of amulets. The Council of Laodicea prohibited ecclesiastics from making amulets and made the penalty for wearing them excommunication (canon 36). St. John Chrysostom, preaching at Antioch, denounced the wearing of amulets as a species of idolatry (canon 36). St. Augustine also denounced the numerous charlatans who dispensed charms.
The most ancient Christian amulet known, from Beirut, is attributed to the second century. It is made of gold and has a ring attached to the neck, with an inscription that reads: “I exorcise thee, Satan (O cross purify me) in the name of the Lord the living God, that thou mayest never leave thy abode. Pronounced in the house of her whom I have anointed”.
A favorite Christian amulet in the Orient during the fourth and fifth centuries bore the image of Alexander the Great. St. John Chrysostom censured the use by Christians of amulets with the portrait of the Macedonian conqueror. Magic nails with inscriptions were interred with the dead, and the Gnostics were particularly notable for their employment of amulets.
What is an amulet in the Bible?
Amulets, originally meaning objects believed to remove or ward off evil spirits, are now commonly used as remedies or preservatives against mystic influences. They are often worn on the body, usually hung from the neck, and are inscribed with mystic forms or characters. Amulets come in various forms and substances, such as stone or metal pieces or strips of parchment with or without inscriptions from sacred writings like the Bible and Koran. The earliest Egyptian amulets were pieces of green schist placed on the breast of a deceased person to secure a safe passage to the under-world.
What did the Prophet say about amulets?
The Prophet Muhammad (SAW) issued a warning that those who tie a knot and blow on it are engaging in Shirk, and that anyone who hangs up an amulet will be entrusted to it. This warning was reiterated by ‘Abdallah b. ‘Umar, who had heard God’s Messenger state that any individual who engages in sorcery, commits Shirk, or affixes an amulet will be held accountable for their actions.
What is the purpose of an amulet?
Amulets are objects, either natural or man-made, believed to have special powers to protect or bring good fortune. They are carried on a person or kept in a desired sphere of influence. Natural amulets include precious stones, metals, teeth and claws of animals, bones, and plants, while man-made amulets include religious medallions and small figurines. Amulets are believed to derive power from their connection with natural forces, religious associations, or being made in a ritual manner at a favorable time.
Neanderthals and other prehistoric peoples used natural amulets in burials, with Venus figurines dating back to 25, 000 BC being among the earliest man-made amulets. The MacGregor papyrus of ancient Egypt lists 75 amulets, with the scarab beetle being one of the most common. The scarab symbolized life and was believed to restore the dead person’s heart in the next world. In Egypt, the magic formulas originally recited over amulets were eventually inscribed and worn themselves.

Is it against Christianity to wear a cross necklace?
The wearing of a cross on a necklace is a practice that predates Christianity by thousands of years. There is evidence that some Christians used it as a symbol as early as the second century, and it became a prominent Christian symbol from the sixth century onwards.
I’m not a Catholic, I was raised Christian non denominational but I’m getting a rosary and going to use it in prayer, I like the idea of it and there are many other prayers including non denominational ways to pray it, hoping it will assist me in living a better life for God and getting closer to him .
I’m definitely not Catholic, but I’ve recently been going through a really rough, traumatic season of life… I can’t sleep, I can’t eat, I cant focus, most of the time I’m barely holding it together. I found my grandmothers old rosary and I made up my own set of scriptures to recite that are meaningful to me right now for each bead, then I use the decades for different things to pray about… listing 10 reasons to worship, 10 people to pray for, 10 things I need to confess, etc… Ive found that it slows me down and keeps my mind from wandering off, it helps me to breathe.. if its not hard for me to pray, it’s just hard for me to pray without hyperventilating or falling into tears or just forgetting what I was even doing. I guess you wouldn’t call it praying the rosary, but a liturgy of prayer using beads has been immensely helpful for me! ❤
Amen 🙏 I used to hate praying the Rosary growing up. As I learned more about the history of our faith, my whole world flipped. I now cannot let a day pass without praying the Rosary. It is the weapon against the snares of the devil. It’s our help to deepen our relationship with Jesus through Mary, the Queen of Heaven.
THANK YOU!! I think I am what’s called protestant. I first met Jesus as a child because of involvement with a kids program through a Salvation Army church. Later, when I searched for God as an adult I started in a Uniting church. But later attended a Pentecostal church that, unfortunately, bordered on being a cult. From there I went back to the Uniting church for a period of rest and recovery. Then joined a charismatic church. I started learning about theology and doctrine through a Pentecostal bible college that I am still attending now. Because of the things I learned, I started questioning the teachings of the pastor I was under. The response was not great and I felt drawn to the reverence of the more richly traditional worship of the Catholic Church. But when I attended ours, I went away empty. Again and most unfortunately I experienced some mild spiritual abuse in the charismatic church and moved to a Baptist Church. I am very happy and settled there. It is a safe place and I have been encouraged and supported in my faith and questioning of theology. However, I still find myself drawn to older traditional practices. Recently I started using a formal liturgy for worship in my private practice. It has the Gloria Patri and different creeds, etc. I became curious about the rosary and feel that it is something deep to add to my private practice of prayer- despite having no knowledge beyond the necklace and stereotypes of the Catholic faith. THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP!! This article has been really informative and I now understand why I’m compelled to add this practice into my daily seeking of God ❤ even as a Pentecostal-Uniting-charismatic-Baptist 😜 haha!
There is no such teaching or Doctrine as a “Personal Relationship with Christ”… Nobody has the right mind to PERSONALIZE his/her Relationship with Christ Jesus… for Christ Jesus is given by God for ALL mankind who believes (Faith) in Him and also who follow/obey His commandments… There was NO PRIORITY YOKE (TASK) that we need to prioritize… ALL the Laws of Christ must be equally carried on, and nothing must be left behind even the least of the law… remember, the rich merchantman, did all the commandments, and Christ said, there is still one thing you should do, sell your properties and give it to the poor and follow me… You can not pick and choose which commandment of Christ we should/must prioritize and leave the others (less important) behind… Anyone who violates one had violated all the laws of Christ… Amen.
The Original Manuscript (handwritten) Holy Scriptures does not have Chapters and Verses in Arabic Numerals (numbers)… it was only added in the Early 1200s by a Roman Catholic Archbishop Stephen Langton of Canterbury who was also a Professor from the University of Paris, France… Adding Chapters and Verses created so many problems in Christianity… one major problem was that, instead of taking the Context and Meaning of the WHOLE Scripture O.T / N.T., they allowed themself to “Pick and Choose,” to focus more on what Chapters and Verses they wanted Christianity (Church of God in Christ Jesus) to be and practiced them… For example, they saw the Chapter and Verse about TITHINGS, so some Christians practice TITHINGS in their CHURCH… others saw the Chapter and Verse about “Keeping Holy the 7th Day Sabbath,” so some Christians practiced the Saturday Sabbath like the Israelite Jews, instead of Christ’s Sabbath (REST) which was Sunday (1st Day of the Week), Christ’s Resurrection Day attested by 4 Gospel Writers… and many more… That is one major reason why there are more than 5,000 Registered Protestant Denomination Churches around the World (not counting the unregistered Churches) and still growing every single day… On Judgment Day of God (YHWH) that person will be responsible for ADDING Chapters and Verses to the WORD OF GOD which is prohibited by God. (ref. Deut. 4:2 / Rev. 22:18). Facts and Truth of the Matters, Biblically and Historically speaking… Praise be to God in Christ Jesus.
It is not whether or not the WORDS are straight from the SCRIPTURES, but it is HOW we used the SCRIPTURE towards FORBIDDEN to DO or NOT… Simple as that… You can use the Scripture the wrong way or the rightful way… Even Satan used the Scriptures, only the wrong way… remember how Satan used the same written scriptures to tempt/test Christ Jesus in the wilderness for 40 days and nights?… the same analogy… Amen.
“Personal Relationship” by definition thru context and meaning, means a Mutual (2-Way) “Give and Take” relationship wherein you can also have the right to impose your own WILL and DECISIONS just like when you PERSONALIZED your own computer, cellphone, or tablet, your pets, your friends, love ones, etc… by choosing your own designated color scheme, theme, ringtone, screen images timeout, giving personal pet’s names, and special individual title/address/calls for your friends and loved ones, etc… for example, Sweetheart, Honey, Cutipie, etc. But when it comes to BIBLICAL RELATIONSHIP that is RIGHTFUL and APPROPRIATE terminology is called “UNCONDITIONAL RELATIONSHIP” with the Father (God), Son (Christ), and the Holy Spirit… Why?… because it is not my WILL.,not your WILL, not anyone’s WILL but GOD’s WILL be done alone… no question ask… no right to question anything, but to love, follow and obey the WILL OF GOD as TRUE FAITHFUL SERVANTS like the Heavenly Host (Angels), Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Prophets, Apostles, etc… We can not impose nor choose our own WILL or DECISION… that is why PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP is Non-Biblical TRUTH… NO ONE with the Right MIND and HEART, has the RIGHT TO PERSONALIZE their Relationship with the Gods (3 Gods in 1 = Father, Son, and Holy Spirit)… Christ Jesus said, (Matt. 12:48-50/paraphrased)…”Whomsoever does the WILL of my Father (God) is my MOTHER, BROTHER, and SISTER… thus, they will enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
Why does the Salutation/Greetings of Angel Gabriel to Blessed Mary was made for pray? Why does the proclamation of St. Elizabeth (cousin of Mary) was also converted to a prayer? Do we have a right to choose any passages we do like in the Bible and make it into a Standard prayer to God? Why not make a prayer out of the written BEATITUDES it was also in the Bible, just like “Hail Mary?”
Why at approx 2:53 time stamp, do I wanna “meditate with Mary” (who’s dead & didn’t resurrect & did not pay the wages of my sins, whom only God in the flesh, Emmanuel, who died for me to pay them, did die & whose blood alone cleansesme from all unrighteousness) when I can meditate with Jesus Christ himself in his spirit the Holy Spirit?
It is not the reciting of the scripture that is IN VAIN, but reciting the scripture “Over and Over, Repetitive Continuously in a single moment in time”… For example, Christians may recite one time (1x) the “Lord’s Prayer” every morning, for it is a DAILY PRAYER… In part, “Give us this day our Daily Bread… (and so on)” … but not 10X to 50X or more over 30 to 45 minutes continuously in a single moment of time… that makes the PRAYER in VAIN or commonly called Heathen’s (Pagan’s) Prayers… Logically and Biblically speaking… why will a Christian make a prayer out of the “Salutation Greeting” of an Angel Gabriel addressed to Blessed Mary recited more than 50X continuously in a single cycle of time?…. it is like 50X “Hail, Caesar!” or “Hail to the Queen!” or “Long live the King!” or “Your Excellency, the President!”… etc… Christ Jesus taught His own Apostle the “PATTERN” of Prayer without repetitive words which is the “Lord’s Prayer” that is acceptable in the EARS of God (Father)… Christ said, “This is HOW you should pray”… that must come from our own heart and mind… and NOT… “This is WHAT you should pray” that we need to memorize or from the words written by other authors like the NOVENA Prayers… We (Christians) must/should do the same WAY the Apostles do if we LOVE God, Son, and the Holy Spirit… Aside from that, God knows what we want/need BEFORE we say our prayers/petitions/supplications to God, we just need to say/acknowledge it once (not like a broken record per single time), for God is not DEAF.
My respectful QUESTIONS… #1…Is the ROSARY PRAYER more powerful than the Pattern of Prayer taught by Christ Jesus to His Apostles which was the LORD’S PRAYER? … #2… Is the MEMORIZED Pattern of Prayers and Prayers Written by others like the NOVENAS, more EFFECTIVE than our own Prayers that come from our Hearts?… #3… Which do you think God would love to hear that pleases His Ears,… the “SAME” Long Memorized Repetitive Prayers over and over in a SINGLE CYCLE that lasts for about 30 – 40 minutes, 3X per day… or… with various different “SHORT” Prayers (1 min. or less) that come out from their own HEARTS (non-memorized), in 2X min. (am. / pm.) per day?… Take note:… Haleluia, Haleluia, Haleluia… or … Holy, Holy, Holy… etc… those repetitive words are not PRAYERS, but they are words of ACCLIMATIONS and SALUTATIONS to/for God Almighty (YHWH)… just like HAIL Caesar!… HAIL to the King!… LONG LIVE the Queen!… etc… A Righteous PRAYER according to the Bible is an ACT of WORSHIP to/for God Almighty Alone through Christ Jesus that includes…. #1… For God’s Glorification… Praise and Thanksgiving #2… For Salvation of the Soul… repentance of Sin/s committed each day. #3… For Human needs and protection… request, petition, and supplication This must be done in bent knees/bowed down on the ground (prostrate position) if possible, except for people with handicaps/disabled and other valid circumstances… Amen.
Saying, “I LOVE YOU” to the one you truly love is a BEAUTIFUL thing to say that strikes the hearts and minds of the person who HEARS them… however, it becomes so ORDINARY and REDUNDANT that it LOOSES its true meaning when your love ones hear them 50X (over and over in a row) continuously, every day… instead of 1X each day Is enough… God is not DEAF and DUMB… God knows them before we even say what we want from Him… Analogy… it is like eating FOOD, that is a beautiful thing humans do, but to eat the same FOOD over and over every single day, anyone could feel the Food FATIGUE of eating that same FOOD over and over… that is way, VARIETY of FOOD is a must to lessen food-fatigue… the same analogy… God wants us to TALK to HIM every single moment with our own THOUGHTS and MOTIVES that come from our Hearts and Minds, and not memorize PRAYERS, spoken over and over, like a broken record… like the Novena and Rosary… The LORD’S PRAYER is a GUIDE (Pattern) PRAYER… Christ clearly said, “This is HOW you should pray to God” … and not “This is WHAT you should pray to God.” Glory, Praise, and Thanks be to God in Christ Jesus… Amen.:face-red-heart-shape:
A big retort of the rosary and Jesus Prayer by protrstants is Matthew 6:7-8. Here is the KJV translation: 7 And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. Many emphasize the “vain repetitions” part as a rebuttal for why the use of a rosary by Catholics or koboskini by Orthodox as un-biblical at best and satanic or pagan at worst. The word being translated as “vain repetitions” is “βατταλογήσητε”, which in the KJV is translated as “vain repetitions”. The word can also be translated as “stammering” or “to be long winded” Now look at Matthew 6:8 and think of in it the context of verse 7. : 8 “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. Of the three most common english translations of the Greek word “βατταλογήσητε”, ‘vain repetitions’ makes the least amount of sense. It makes more sense to read it as “When you orat, dont be long winded like the Pagans. The father already knows what you need before you ask him.” Also, if repetitive prayer isn’t biblical and is a pagan practice, why does Jesus himself practice repetitive orayer in Matthew 26:44? The Hail Mary is scripture from Luke. Praying by repeating scripture is biblical. Thats what the Psalms are and Jesus himself prayed the Psalms on the cross.
To those who do not want to accept and can not handle the Biblical TRUTH without compromise, definitely for sure, it would be BABBLED for them… Why?… because Satan has already blocked their ability to clearly understand and comprehend the Biblical TRUTH that will set them FREE… May God have mercy on their Souls… Praise be to God in Christ Jesus… Amen and Amen…:face-red-heart-shape:
im on my 505 consective rosary…But. …here is but part…………..its not biblical.. some guy came up with it an made it up. So how do we honestly with out a doubt know its ok to pray to Mary, that its not worshipping other idols etc etc……….im playing devils advocate here. Obviously there are some miracles associated to the rosary.. Lady Fatima said pray it.. Medajugorjie said to pray it………but its still all kind of hearsay……right? lOL let the debate begin! Honestly I need some better answers to rubutal my well meaning protestant friends worried about my soul.
I’m 25 and have struggled to read the bible, even though I started to go to churches 10 years ago. Why? I couldn’t find a reason to. Protistans would simply say “because that’s it! It’s the bible, why wouldnt you read it?” Only after discovering Catholicism did the context of the bible make sense, and give me a reason to open it and study it diligently.
Jesus was born for one purpose, to show the way. He spoke words that made demons flee. His clothes stopped a woman from bleeding. So many people followed him. Then He was crucified. Mary were chosen. But he chose us. The rosary has nothing to do with what Jesus came to do. All of us has one purpose, repent, accept Jesus, and minister to all what He has done.go into your room, pray without ceasing. Just you and Jesus. No Mary or any other person.
…you can pray and everything he just mentioned without a rosary. When you start to rely on objects, to think its the only way God is going to hear. You’re not respecting the power of God and prayer. The Bible…the disciples literally ask Jesus to”… teach us how to pray” Jesus did say to find an object to amply a prayer. He simple said to say “Our Father who art in Heaven…”
dont you know that the whole Rosary is the life of Jesus Christ? there are 4 mysteries of the Holy Rosary: 1.) JOYFUL MYSTERIES > Annunciation of Angel Gabriel > Visitation of Mary to Elizabeth > Birth of Jesus at Bethlehem > Presentation of Jesus at Temple > Finding Jesus at Temple 2.) LUMINOUS MYSTERIES > Baptism at Jordan > Wedding at Cana > Proclamation of Kingdom of God > The Transfiguration > Institution of the Eucharist 3.) SORROWFUL MYSTERIES > Agony in the Garden > The Scourging > Crowning with Thorns > Carrying of the Cross > Crucifixion and Death on the Cross 4.) GLORIOUS MYSTERIES > Ressurection of Jesus > Ascension of Jesus > Descent of the Holy Spirit > Assumption > Crowning of our Lady (Revelation 12) Praying the Rosary takes you back to the time of Jesus and reminds you of the Gospel. 📿✝️
Based on the other blog, the Rosary came to existence around 1214 A.D. only thru Saint Dominic given by Blessed Virgin Mary. Therefore, the Apostles and early Christianity do not have the practice of praying the Rosary. Christ Jesus did not teach his Apostles/Disciples about the Rosary prayer but instead, He taught them the “Lord’s Prayer,” as a simple and short prayer without repetition (babbling) as a guide pattern for our personal prayer to God. I truly love, respect, and honor Blessed Mary in a Biblical way (manner) as the surrogate mother of Christ Jesus humanity (Body/Flesh), but not the Divine Nature of Christ (LOGOS/WORD). It is not appropriate to call Blessed Mary as the “Mother of GOD” for she has nothing to do with the Divine Nature of Christ (GOD) for the Son of God existed along with the Father God in His bosom and before Blessed Mary were even created/born. Therefore, “Mother of Jesus” or “Mother of Christ,” is the right and appropriate title and acknowledgment for her, but not “Mother of GOD.” I also have a problem with the title “VIRGIN” attached to Blessed Mary… The bible stated by Mary herself, who said, “I will be called BLESSED among women.” She did not say, “I will be called BLESSED VIRGIN among women.” The original manuscript that was written and prophesied by Prophet Isaiah was “Ha Alma” which means “Young Maiden/girl.” The word maiden/girl does not always necessarily mean to be virgin, based on the bible… Remember the only daughter of Jacob, after Dinah was raped, she was still called “Ha Alma” (Maiden), as a young girl without a husband.
To all the people arguing that you should not pray to Mary because you could just pray directly to Jesus – What I think is that praying to Mary is not idolisation or not praying to Jesus, instead I perceive it the same way you pray to a deceased family member, wishing good health, asking for directions and having a connection. I understand that some people believe you shouldn’t use Mary as a substitute for praying to God, but i believe that its fine as long as you still have trust and faith in Jesus.
The Bible clearly stated that we need not BABBLE (repeating over and over in a single prayer) from our prayers like the heathen (pagan/gentiles) do. Christ Jesus taught His Apostles to keep it short and simple, because before they ask GOD thru prayer what they need, GOD knows it already. Christ Jesus taught a simple and short prayer to GOD which is the “Lord’s Prayer” as a guide pattern to our personal prayer… Could anybody justify the logic and spiritual explanation why we need to pray more than 50 times (actual 53X) the “Hail Mary” and “Holy Mary,” respectively in the rosary? Why not 10 or 12 times, nor 40 times only? And also why not 7 or 3 mysteries instead of 4 or 5 mysteries? These numbers 10, 12, 40, 3, 7 are all Biblical numbers written. Can someone logically explain to us why?
i personally do not believe in the catholic teachings of how they pray to her and believe she is the mother of God and all that stuff, i only believe that their is one God. ONLY. So would having a rosary and maybe doing what he was saying about giving God the glory through it while praying-would that be wrong? Or just having it in general as a cross.
why u want someone intervene for you when u can pray directly to jesus? For god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have an everlasting life Jesus says pray in my name and i will answer Dont pray to a human (mary) to pray for us? Because even if u pray to her to pray for us ..its a prayer becos u are praying to mary to pray for us
