During the Centennial Year of Celebration in 2023, students voted on the new name for the mascot at Mott Community College. The President’s Student Advisory Council provided the school with a brand new mascot costume as a mark of change. The new bear mascot, Monty, was unveiled at the Radhabai Rajagopal Student Life Center on Thursday, Feb. 8, from noon-3. Mott Community College, a public institution in Flint, Michigan, has been providing quality educational opportunities to the Greater Flint area since 1923. The college has embraced several names, including Mott Community College Bears (MCC), Flint Junior College, and Mott Community College Bears.
MCC serves 6,245 students, with 28 of them being full-time students. The mission of Mott Community College is to provide high-quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services that cultivate student success and individual development. Mott Community College is named after politician, businessman, and philanthropist Charles Stewart Mott. The new bear mascot was unveiled at the Radhabai and Rajagopal Student Life Center, and students can visit the center to meet Monty. Membership in CHEA or CIQG offers an opportunity to serve higher education, students, and the public through advocacy and leadership in assuring academic quality.
