Dream catchers are traditional Native American symbols believed to protect sleeping people from bad dreams by trapping evil spirits and filtering them. They are often placed in windows, but their design is deeply rooted in witchcraft, with owners signaling demonic entities. Dreamcatchers were traditionally believed to work by catching dreams in their woven web as one slept underneath it. Some believe that dream catchers possess the mystical ability to filter out bad dreams while letting good ones pass through, like a spiritual sieve. However, skeptics argue that dream catchers are a form of witchcraft or invite negative energy.
In witchcraft, a dream catcher is more than a protective charm; it is a portal to deeper understanding and connection with the unseen forces that guide and shape our lives. Dream catchers are considered an open door to demons, and they are considered an amulet or tailman of a diviner involved in witchcraft. In fact, dream catchers are considered an open door to demons, and they attract them to them.
In traditional Native American culture, dreamcatchers are believed to be the best blessing gift, as they are believed to protect us from bad dreams by capturing bad spirits and filtering them. They are often hung over the beds of little children or put as jewelry in cars. Incorporating dream catchers in witchcraft can help protect sleeping people, especially children, from bad dreams and nightmares.

What is the controversy with dream catchers?
Dream catchers, a popular New Age art form, have caused controversy due to concerns about cultural appropriation and legality. Some argue that non-Natives profit from selling Native-inspired crafts, while others view them as genuine Native American art. The Indian Arts and Crafts Act of 1990 made it illegal to falsely advertise that Native American-inspired artwork, such as pottery, baskets, jewelry, and totemic items like dream catchers, was made by Native Americans.
However, this does not mean that non-Natives cannot appreciate and display Native arts and crafts. When approached respectfully, hanging dream catchers can be a beautiful way to honor the people whose rich tapestry of beliefs shaped the land before European settlement.
What are the powers of a dreamcatcher?
An authentic dreamcatcher is a hoop of willow-wood strung with fiber, string, or leather to form a web in the center, designed to catch dreams or spirits inside the web to prevent them from visiting the sleeper. It was traditionally hung in the bedroom or over the beds and cradles of children and infants. The purpose was to ward off evil and protect those who owned it. However, the dream-catcher is deeply rooted in witchcraft and operates in the opposite of its design.
Owners of the dreamcatcher signal demonic spirits by displaying or owning them, believing in the supernatural influence to filter bad dreams and nightmares. These items create favorable soil for occult crops, similar to false idols and icons of pagan religions.
Historically, dreamcatchers were crafted by resident witchdoctors who would dispense them to families under their care. Even as recently as the Columbine High School shootings, Native American “healers” were invited to counsel the traumatized and often handed out dreamcatchers to the survivors, suggesting their use as a way to bring peace to their fitful, sleepless nights. Although they likely did not intend to harm people, they distributed satanic keepsakes to those already hurting.

I used to own a dream catcher, and I could never recall my dreams… Some weeks after being born again and being hungry to know God more and what things to forsake to please Him, I inquired about if God is against dream catchers. After asking my brothers, I was convicted that it was evil, so I threw it out. My dream life drastically increased after that. I was able to recall my dreams as God was sending me many dreams.
I had to get rid of my drum set that had skulls on it. I know that there was a demon attached because when I was planning on getting rid of it, I had put it out of my house that night, then I felt compelled to bring it back in. That morning, I got my axe and destroyed it. I manifested in tears, then I threw the drum set away. I felt free after that.
I was moved to burn a Shepherd crook with a dreamcatcher I got from a former roommate. I’ve been getting increasingly convicted of my sins and changing from trying not to sin to actively killing any sin I find in my life. I look into the corner of my living room at the “decoration” and was repulsed. Had to burn it and renounce anything I let into my house unintentionally. Edited to add, a former roommate drug dealer that used her high school daughters as mules. God have mercy on those girls especially but deliver them all in Jesus name!
I’ve been dreaming about demons And the holy spirit has told me a couple times to throw it away but I didnt want to or my sister would be mad Yesterday I broke it and threw it away but as I was holding it I could feel some type of energy coming off of it and I didnt have any scary stuff in my dreams last night
• Lord, please heal our land… 2 Chronicles 7:14 • Lord, protect those working on the front-lines serving the sick, hungry, poor and homeless • Lord, let all Christians and churches reach-out with Your hope and love while people’s hearts are open • Lord, how can I bless my church financially during these challenging days • Lord, please use me to bless others in Jesus’ name We are praying for you today… Blessed, Blind & Broken
I do believe some Christians don’t understand. I’ve been guilty. I’ve always thought dream catchers were beautiful. I bought one for my daughters room. She started to have nightmares so I would sleep with her. I started having nightmares too. I told my husband who is not a believer. Right away he told me it was the dream catcher. 🤯 I thought if I don’t believe in that stuff it was okay. Nope! I threw in a bag tied it up and trashed it. I didn’t want anyone to see and maybe remove it from the trash. Im a bit more mature in my walk. I was so clueless. Great article.
Satan has no power that you do not give him. Remember the old Flip Wilson saying, “”the devil made me do it.” Well, no he didn’t. Since Adam and Eve took a bite of that fruit and Adam blamed Eve and Eve blamed the serpent people have been blaming the evil one for the things they do. Since Jesus defeated satan by His sacrifice on the cross, satan’s power was stripped from him. Satan cannot cause you to do anything. It is you who gives him power in your life.
I have a question. Is Chinese/Lunar New Year demonic? Each year we celebrate it and call it year of certain animal from the Chinese zodiac and the element too. Could you maybe talk about this someday? Well I know it’s going to offend a lot of people bcs it is a cultural thing from generations but I also think people need to know the biblical truth about it.
So my mom has been passed away 19 years now … She was fascinated with Indian culture and artifacts…. And I used to think you’re cool as a teenager I didn’t understand… Obviously neither did my mom… She loved Jesus… However… My son has nightmares… He’s thirty-four years old and he can’t get rid of a demon that comes into his dreams… I ask that you pray for me and my family my son’s name is Tyler… My name is Nancy… Please pray that these strongholds get broken… In Jesus name
he Ultimate Victory of the Lord However strong demons might be, they also have serious weaknesses and vulnerabilities: They unwittingly serve God’s purposes (Judg. 9:23). They were terrified of Christ and the gospel (Matt. 8:29; Mark 1:24; James 2:19). They obeyed Christ (Matt. 8:32). They obeyed the Twelve (Matt. 10:1–8) and the Seventy-Two (Luke 10:17–20). They cannot separate believers in Christ from the love of God (Rom. 8:38). They can be restrained by the Holy Spirit (2 Thess. 2:6; 1 John 4:4). They have been judged already by God (2 Pet. 2:4; Jude 6) and will be again in the future (Rev. 20:10).
Genesis 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: Psalms Chapter 7 11God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day. 12If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready. Proverbs Chapter 6 16These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
Good article! These versus get taken out of the context of all of the rest of God’s Word. I have had “pastors” tell me that we are free to eat food offered to idols. If there is a conflict, in Paul’s writings, then I will follow what my Lord has said everywhere else. Paul is not my Savior! Jesus Christ, Yeshua, the Messiah is and we need to follow Him and His eternal teachings. I have had many Native American friends and they all know and accept that I have a definite issue with their cultural practices, same as I have issues with ours or any cultural practices which fall outside of the Father’s Culture. We need to pray for Holy Wisdom and discernment and to boldly support our Lord’s Commands and teachings. Thanks again for the article!

My dad is so stubborn, I mentionned it to him, I had one in my room and took it out, and feel better now, but he wants to keep it and put it in his mobile home. I’m gonna sneak up tonight and throw it away, he doesn’t even want to aknowledge that there is the potential of bad energy. He’s like “no for me it doesn’t mean that” and he is closed off to discussing the issue. For our own good, I’m gonna throw it out of our house and do a couple of payers again afterwards. Don’t want that in our house, not good, and I hate the fact he is so dismissive and stubborn. Ugh 😒🙄
We all need to come to a higher ground we need to be called to a higher ground. Many of us have AT best are still working toward it. I’m not concerned about DREAM CATCHERS . pastor vlad . I’m more concerned about the LGBTQ transpeople trying TO INDOCTRINATE our children. NOW they have 2 bibles for the LGBTQ movement. And ONE is called ” QUEENS” James version of the Bible. Now I don’t hate these people because GOD SAYS we’re not TO hate anyone. I love all people and I love them when they were doing their own thing and we were living our Christian life but when they start coming over and trying. To tell us what To Do and bring in our children our teenagers to turn them that way OH no no that’s WHERE I DRAW THE LINE . I DID SEE a transperson come to Christ yesterday on some young man was preaching the gospel and the warnings in a gay festivity thing in California TRANS man came to Christ he didn’t want anymore and he wouldn’t be part of THAT ANY more. He was even married to a woman so I couldn’t figure out what’s going on. Why what was he doing in that community Maybe he had friends maybe they were talking him into maybe changing or something but he was a man he was married I saw the ring on his finger and it was to a woman and he said he was happy so I don’t know but he came to. Christ and that’s good enough for me. There are people out there that are still hungry they’re very hungry and they need the river of living water. They need to spirit of truth.JOHN 16:13 .
I had tons of occult art that was very beautiful and in some cases expensive. I felt in my spirit that it all had to go, but I was torn. Then I asked God if I really had to get rid of it, and to be direct so I knew it was Him, and over the next week or so, God brought several YouTube articles in my feed about idolatry! God made it perfectly clear, and everything went into the trash. I felt so good afterward, knowing God was pleased. 💗🙏🏻
I was given one by a close friend years ago and was curious about the history behind it so I searched it on YouTube. I didn’t want to learn it from just anyone and I saw your article and I trust and love your honest biblical content! Thank you for giving me such good insight! Getting rid of it now and will pray over my home 😊
Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. 2 Timothy Chapter 2 25In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; 26And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
First of all, stop talking about Natives in the past tense, WE ARE STILL HERE ! Also, stop attacking our religion, if you don’t like it keep it out of your mouth . Christianity is something relatively new to America and has had a devastating impact on the people who are from here . religion was invented so that people would treat each other more civilized, but some religions have done just the opposite, like the attempted annihilation of an entire culture . Stick to talking about your religion and stop talking about things you don’t understand .
Thank you for sharing this knowledge. 💜 I have always loved them since a small child but I didn’t own one until I became an adult. I also struggled with lots of nightmares and visions that I didn’t understand until I got older. I’m still learning and accepting the gifts along with the responsibilities they come with. 🧘🏾♀️
