What Level Do Shadow Spells Have?

Shadow spells are a type of Ancient Magicks combat spell that deal damage and can lower the target’s Attack level. They can also lower the target’s Strength and Defence levels when cast using the shadow ancient sceptre. There are 8 shadow spells, 7 of which are trainable with training. Wizards gain the ability to use Shadow magic near the middle of Khrysalis, and most wizards are level 90 or higher when they do so.

The main defensive spell is Shadow, which reduces all damage taken by 75 but prevents the caster from casting any spells. It also increases movement speed by 50 and makes the caster immune to movement-impairing effects. Silence allows the caster to prevent a target from casting for 4 seconds on a 45-second cooldown.

Max wizards have three different shadow spells: Call of Khrulhu (Lulu), Iron Sultan, Fire from Above, Glowbug Squall, Raging Bull, Abominable Weaver, and Nested Fury. The Dark Fiend applies a +40 Shadow Damage Charm upon casting, while casting a liked Spell causes a +10 Shadow Armor Piercing Charm and a +25 Shadow Damage Trap on all enemies.

Shadow Enhanced spells require a shadow pip, and until you unlock shadow magic, you will never get a shadow pip. Wizard101’s Khrysalis Part 2 brings level 98 shadow spells, including Shadow Spells, Chill Touch Sleep, Non-Detection Phantom Steele, and Dimishadow Monsters Major Creation. Shadow Evocations use your Evocation DC, while Shadow Conjurations use your Conjuration DC.

  • 2:46 You didnt use Cherishing Fingers correctly at all, its not supposed to do damage or poise, its supposed to be a defensive spell that eats physical or magical projectiles . it’s actually pretty good especially if you use it alongside eternal darkness or inside of the threshold of a door, as far as pvp is concerned its at least a b-tier spell Edit: take cherishing fingers and eternal darkness into Renallas second phase, the only attacks that will be able to hit you are her comet azure, the wand spin, and her summons

  • Rellana’s twin moons is my favourite sorcery in the game, but I can confirm it isn’t really good. It can keep some bigger enemies stunlocked like the black knights and also works wonders on groups of small enemies that might not even be able to reach you while you are in moon form. Aside from that, the damage is kinda good, but the complete lack of hyperarmour makes it really hard to use.

  • It amazing to see how broken in both ways some of them are. From trash to super op, twin moons at least need hyperarmor. Larger aoi would be nice, but as is, it’s extremely situational. The finger sorcery also needs more attributes like a large damage reduction. Which would make sense since the fingers are shielding you. That alog with hyper armor would make it useful against bosses with long combos.

  • Hey, I wanted to say that the Cherishing Fingers spell also protects you from all projectiles and spells that work like projectiles. A good example of this is Rellana. For people who have trouble dodging the magical sword slash projectiles, use Cherishing Fingers and you will avoid all those attacks. Hope this helps someone 🙂

  • I’m really hoping they either buff these spells, and/or add more. It really sucks how FromSoft is basically spoon feeding Faith/Arcane Incantation casters while pure intelligence casters don’t get much beyond just offensive spells. I get that Sorcery is meant to be the more offense focused magic, but it really stinks they don’t give Sorcery more versatility and utility. I want more support and defense Sorceries. And it really sucks they never expanded on the smaller Sorcery schools like Frost, Magma, Bloodthorn, or Clayman Sorceries in the DLC. Love the DLC, but man it really feels like FromSoft doesn’t like Sorcery.

  • That’s a good ranking g article, anyway Here’s a classic recipe for rich, fudgy brownies: Classic Fudgy Brownies *Ingredients:* – *1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter* – *1 cup (200g) granulated sugar* – *2 large eggs* – *1 teaspoon vanilla extract* – *1/3 cup (40g) unsweetened cocoa powder* – *1/2 cup (65g) all-purpose flour* – *1/4 teaspoon salt* – *1/4 teaspoon baking powder* – *1/2 cup (90g) chocolate chips or chunks (optional)* *Instructions:* 1. **Preheat the Oven**: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch (20×20 cm) baking pan or line it with parchment paper. 2. **Melt the Butter**: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and let cool slightly. 3. **Mix Sugar and Eggs**: In a large bowl, combine the granulated sugar with the melted butter. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated. Stir in the vanilla extract. 4. **Combine Dry Ingredients**: In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. 5. **Combine Wet and Dry Mixtures**: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. 6. **Add Chocolate Chips**: If using, fold in the chocolate chips or chunks. 7. **Bake**: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. 8. **Cool and Serve**: Allow the brownies to cool in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares.

  • One thing that’s really good about Glintstone Nail is its tracking, in particular its ability for you to cast it while riding Torrent and running away I completely cheesed Sennesax by casting Glintstone Nail and riding Torrent away from the boss, and its insane tracking allows you to not have to turn around and face the enemy in order for the spell to hit It’s the perfect spell for cheesing a boss on horseback

  • Gravitational Missile is alright in pve but is super fun, specifically in Moghs Palace where the sleeping albinaurics are, cupple it with aoe spells like Zamor Ice Storm or Canon of Haima or other spells like them, you get a slow, fun and more destructive way of slaughtering and farming them. Gravitation missile in my opinion would have done much better as a slow traveling proximity mine or claymore mine rather than a slow traveling ticking time bomb.

  • Gravitational missle is very op and you can detonate 2 at a time. Light cast pulse 3 times heavy pulses 4. Light cast then on second pulse fully charge and throw it at the ground/wall within 4 meters of your character for double explosion. In pvp this spell is crazy too gives you a safe place to stay and cast within or collapsing star your enemies to you into it.

  • The most efficient “Sorcery” is the AoW on the Glintstone Kris. It too only costs 10 FP, can be charged as well, and does more damage than Glintstone Nail and it gets buffed by both the Shard of Alexander and Godfrey’s. Or you can make it cost 8 FP. The Kris AoW also pierces. The only reason to use Nail over it is if you either can’t support the additional weight of a dagger, or you need some other armament in its place. On average, the Kris does 15% more damage before talismans. It’s one of the items that carried me through the DLC when I wasn’t using the backhand blades or shard spiral (with the new zero stamina tear, you can spam spiral for ten seconds at no FP/Stamina cost and it destroys big enemies). Actually been delaying going to where Impenetrable Thorns is located though, so that likely would have made the DLC even easier. Although I used Spiral a lot while horseback. With the Shard and Godfrey’s the Kris AoW does 1755 charged at 70 INT. For 10 FP. Against the same enemy in this article, without the talismans, the first charge does 1352 vs 1172 (Nail). Non charged spam shots deal 919 vs 672 (Nail). Nail is garbage in comparison and only useful if you absolutely refuse to use the dagger.

  • the moon attacks work well to counter moves that hit the ground, stomps n what not but yeah would be nice if they boost the armour, the upwards hit box (do it on some stairs or a slight hill n it will miss lol) and buff the aoe its tiny compared to rellela 🙁 glintstone nail also goes pretty far i like it tho its no zamor ice storm lol

  • For those of you worried about hyper armor, you can still cast endure on a dagger or something and the effect will remain if you switch to a staff, or you can even carry a staff in your off-hand and do it that way. That gives you at least three to five uninterrupted seconds to cast any spell you want…provided…you’re not hit by something…like a train 🙃 PS if this has been nerfed, I haven’t heard about it yet 🙃

  • That suck, Incantations have really more fun and usefull spells to use, while most sorceries of the basic game are more usefull than those in the DLC, Glinstone nail is way inferior to Night comet for doing great damages to ennemies that would dodge other spells and way inferior to Spiral glintstone too for destroying huge targets HP because Glinstone nail do his damages only one time. To destroy easily the giant furnaces i use Spiral glintstone.

  • Cherishing Fingers should be higher imo, it’s not meant to do damage, it’s main use is make you essentially immune to projectiles, it’s a defensive spell which you didn’t mention at all According to my testing (which wasn’t much), you can spam it to have permanent immunity to magic as long as you’re spamming it, since the barrier’s duration is higher than it’s casting time. If a boss enters a projectile vomit phase, you can spam it to basically negate the phase. I’m not sure if it also deflects arrows. I guess you COULD use something like Carian Retaliation but idk, this is easier to use Also soemthing you didn’t mention, that is VERY important about Gravitational Missile, is that if it hits a wall or the floor it instantly explodes, and it has insane knockback. Enemies that are player type, like the Mimic Tear or a few DLC bosses, just get knocked into the floor with that explosion, trivializing them since you can just spam this thing and permanently stunlock them.

  • Since Mantle of Thorns says it uses “impenetrable” thorns of thr Scadutree, I would think it gives you some damage resistance. Nah, it’s just some roll damage. Also, I just have to note how good Impenetrable Thorns is. I have the Maternal Staff and Staff of the Guilty to spam this. And if I need some quick attacks, I have the Claws of Night. That quick scattershot will usually proc a bleed or two of used correctly.

  • Miriam’s teleport is pretty good for casual PvP. The teleport forces the opponents camera to unlock meaning you need to re-lock onto the opponent and in that time your opponent could have hit you. However, once your opponent gets used to the sorcery they will end up free-aiming and hitting you out of your teleport. The end of the teleport locks you in place for about 0.5 seconds. If you want to use this, use it as a defensive tool, not as an offensive as the opponent will beat you 78% of the time.

  • petition for a reconsideration for gravitational missile: i’ve found out that you can aim it on the ground to make it explode instantly and skip the pulling-ish part of the spell, it does massive damage, is spammable, has knockbacks, great range, has negligible fp cost for its damage, and has a fast casting animation

  • I know they’re not that different, but I’m surprised nobody is actually comparing Mass of Putrescence to Magma Shot and instead are always compare it to Cannon of Haima? 😮 Comparing it to Magma Shot feels more appropriate, especially since they’re both mid sorceries (sawrry). Cannon is Haima is a good spell, yknow? (While the casting animation does seem to be re-using Cannon of Haima without much changes, I’m pretty sure the actual Mass itself is a lazy re-skin with a different texture of Magma Shot, and thus function the same as this one instead of like Cannon of Haima who tends to send enemies flying) Impenetrable Thorns is absolutely insane, and I don’t believe one second it isn’t going to be patched or nerfed soon lol

  • the new spells are cool but shard spiral still does more damage pve wise except for the thorns spell. also if you didn’t know i tested and rakshasha armor increases magic damage so does the new tear that increases attack but drains hp. and they all stack with the magic increasing damage tear. they also stack witht he scorpion charm and add the charged spell accessory. even basic spells chunk enemies now magic is definitly easy mode now

  • yea ok. this balance is so fucking whack. the two putrecence spells. one is cannon type spell, so suuuuuper slow charge up time and pittiful damage the other is much faster spell, has more aoe, more damage and it applies the same debuffs like what on earth were the balancing team smoking i swear it feels like this whole dlc can be wrapped up with that one sentence “what on earth were the balancing team smoking”

  • Of course, the fucking faith spell that barely even constitutes as a sorcery, more akin to an incantation faith build, ends up being the broken dlc spell out of all the sorceries requiring zero intelligence to wield it. I will say though, gravitational missile is the MVP on my sorcery playthrough because it should be renamed to the NPC invader killer. This thing will abuse any NPC invader into perma-stunlock until dead if you free aim the thing at the ground anywhere in front of you and the idiot NPC will just keep slowly getting up and run into it. No other spell kills NPC invaders better than that thing. It’s so good, and it gets even better if you have the gravity staff in the offhand to boost its damage even further. Microcosm is cool looking and does a good job, but I just end up defaulting to gravitational missile because of how much better it is. Microcosm has better range and looks cooler overall, but that’s about it. If it had better range than it does, I’d say it’s a must-have for sniping targets, but that award still goes to Loretta’s Bows. The rest of the spells disgust me in all honesty. Fucking annoying how shit most of them are compared to the above mentioned spells or far superior options in the base game. Especially with how annoying the bosses can be in the DLC, you would hope for something more reliable and fresh to use.

  • A bit unfortunate that, just by the nature of the game, cast speed and damage:FP ratios are almost always going to trump utility. There’s little reason for things like crowd control, mobility, or special buffs when your first & last priority is simply killing enemies now instead of later. (Plus, there’s the danger of too much CC or whatever completely breaking PvP.)

  • I’m surprised gravitational missile is below blades of stone! Others have already pointed out Missile’a versatility, but Blades of Stone has felt super disappointing every time I’ve used it. It has a very specific range that it casts to, somewhere in the close-mid range, and you can’t free aim to spawn the aoe closer to your feet at all. It always appears too far away to punish aggressive enemies like you can with gravitational missile, but not far enough to snipe passive enemies like you can with Fleeting Microcosm. enemies are often mobile and aggressive, so it feels impossible to actually hit them with the aoe, even with gravitational missile’s help. And to add insult to injury, it seems that the additional two bursts you get when you charge the spell are very finnicky about spawning at all. From my testing, it seems if their aoe would overlap any walls/obstacles, the two followup bursts just don’t happen at all, making it extremely hard to take advantage of blades of stone in cramped spaces, the place where this spell should excel! Your mentioning the good damage and tracking makes me want to give it another shot, though. Maybe I just wasn’t using it right.

  • Inpenatrable thorns is definitely strong. But i wasnt javing fun with it. Not because it was too strong. But because some enemies were too fast and clobbering my face before i could cast it. I speced back to str arcane. I tried int arcane and theres just so many better weapons with str arc. My first er playthrough was int dex. I brought that character to the dlc fist but speced into quality with high arcane for itwm discovery. (Level 200+. Put extra into arcane) But the dlc was so heavy on arcane weapons i changed to str arcane. Just killed bayle 2nd try. But dont get me started on that hippo rider guy. Took forever

  • There are a few spells I am very sad we didn’t get. Some bosses have such amazing looking spells, it feels like a loss to not get to play with them ourselves. And I don’t quite frankly get why those boss attack spells didn’t get turned into usable spells considering the low count of spells Vs incantations as it wouldn’t frankly have been too hard to turn them into working, usable and useful spells. It feels like a missed opportunity. Spoilers below… – The pig rider boss for example has that advanced rock sling where he pulls several small rocks and barrages players with them. It looks perfect for an upgraded stone sling spell. Why isn’t it usable by players? Especially as it could be used while mounted. I would love to use it! – The final boss has several nifty looking gravity spells that would be fun to mess with. I’d love to have a gravity repulsion pulse to begone pesky melee players and mobs alike that get up in my grill if it hits. Or a chargeable earth blast that raises rocks from the ground around me ala a gravity Zamor ice storm. Raising six boulders to float near me only to then bombard my target with them would have also been satisfying. – There are a few death spells enemies use that look like they would be jolly to get to play with. – While it would be very OP, the finger ruin snake folk have that homing red snare spell they borrowed from large finger creepers. A lesser variant of this would have been very fun. Stop pesky melee foes by tying them up for a moment!

  • Developers really sucking off the blood builds. When i discovered faith in the base game i never stopped using it. My 1st play through started with Strength as i loved the dual wield greatswords. It then happened to be my build was leading up to the godly Blaspehmous blade paired with Sword of Milos. I was here thinking Arcane was nothing but a LUCK skill until recent…

  • i just got impenetrable thorns n wow! the range nuts! the hit boxes nuts! the cost and fact you can spam it….. nuts! aha in short necessary item, can’t wait for it to get nerfed to be average like most other dlc stuff…… 🤦🏽‍♂ do they not know dlc stuff meant to be a bit broken? even fighting games do that lol thanks for these will save me time looking for useless ones, wish i did for the carian soroay sword….. they patched it made int scaling better but still no magic scaling lmao 🤦🏽 they had one job lol seems a lot of stuff needs buffs

  • Gravitational missile is amazing. When your free aiming it at the ground or a wall close by when you have enemies or invaders right in your face that is. In pvp i found a scummy but effective way to use this spell and that is a small enclosed area, hiding, terra magica, magic shrouded flask, lusats and azurs staffs, good rng and perfect timing and brain ded players (and some baiting). if all goes well and your opponent is in position fire off the missle towards a wall or the ground, this will emediatly trigger the spells explosive ending and they will be blown to absolute high hell. Yeah all of planning and luck goes into that. if anyone figured out a better simpler way to use this spell in pvp let me know.

  • I am so done with FromSoft’s hate boner for magic. Their design philosophy for spells seems to be “when the boss uses a spell, it has infinite range, enormous AOE, and incredible damage. But when the player uses it, their character just trips the falls on their face, and we play a laugh track. Also the laugh track alerts nearby enemies.” 💀

  • Pretty disappointed with the sorceries and staffs in the dlc. Went through the entire dlc with just night comet, shard spiral and lorettas mastery and didn’t find anything new worth switching too till the thorn one. Although I did like the visual of Rellanas twin moon but the AOE is very very small rendering it pretty much useless for taking up 2 slots.

  • Not only did they make way more incantations than sorceries (again), but they even took Golden Arcs, which is described as a sorcery, turned it into an incantation, and didn’t even put the sorcery version of it in the game. It would’ve been a great opportunity to give sorcerers some form of holy damage

  • There’s actually a secret 15th one. This is how to get it. Get the storeroom key then unlock the storeroom. Once inside tou will find a moaning npc. If you attack rykards skull wrath spawns above his head but it’s recoloured to a whiteish gold to match belurate which I’m pretty sure is a version of the capital in the main game. Anyway once you kill the moaning npc you will be rewarded with his spell It’s a pretty good spell and low requirements. Your welcome. (If this is covered and I can’t find the comment reply to this cuz I’m just gone off the starting thing where he shows some sorceries)

  • Cherishing Fingers isn’t a damage spell, it’s a utility spell with a little AoE damage. It acts kind of like Thops’ barrier, and I think it might give poise or hyper armor while in the circle but I’m not too sure. Anyways, it’s unfair to rank it as a damage spell seeing as that’s not its purpose. It’s still trash though.

  • Do they playtest these at all? Some of these are CLEARLY garbage, and some are CLEARLY op. I wonder if they even care about balance, and then they’ll come in and nerf and buff stuff. Why not do that at the start? Do they just throw stuff in and worry about fixing it later? Not a great plan imo. A lot of these spells they spent time making get completely thrown at the wayside because they’re just so overshadowed by other options.

  • People said the dlc did sorc dirty but when I saw the fp costs and recovery frames, I was like wow these things are busted because you can combo stack them. Grav missile then microcosm then those ground blade things then trio then spiral shard then founding rain then zamor storm. Now imagine multiple people spamming that. Also the fingers said it blocks projectiles. Does it really do that or is it bugged?

  • So ill be honest fromsoft doesn’t do spells great. Most spells are reskins or completely useless. So it is nice when you actually get a spell that’s decent. Fromsoft doesn’t seem to understand a full spell caster should be able to kill you from a distance without fighting up close..thats the whole point. Also I hate the fact that most spells are really useless and do very little damage. One thing is see a lot Is, it does a good amount of damage for low FP. Okay well how about a more expensive spell that actually is useful and does more than just wiff or get canceled out when tickled. Don’t get more wrong it’s a great game and they clearly know how to make a game. However their spell casting needs work.

  • I just hope they won’t nerf impenetrable thorns to the ground, as they often do. The thorn sorceries from the base game are utter garbage, maybe give those a major buff and somehow fix this thing along with rolling sparks. Honestly not that broken if it weren’t for all the thorns simultaneously hitting when cast point blank. Maybe fix that, up cast time, and reduce bleed scaling a bit (+increase fp cost at LEAST 3x) There are plenty of cheese mode magic builds already. Comet azur, Night and Flame, Night comet, Carian grandeur.. even Moonlight GS. Same goes with bleed builds, GS w/ lions claw etc. With the right amulets and other boosting items most things are gon be strong

  • I CANNOT BELIEVE you ranked gravitational missile without knowing it can be cast at the floor or obstacles to make it instantly explode, which makes it a no brainer S S S S tier spell imo, you can spam it and do an atrocious amount of damage to PvE and it’s my favorite “get the fuck off me” spell for fighting off ganks as It pancakes anybody instantly no matter their poise.
