  • Back in 2006 I lived in Orlando for a little over a year and worked at Portofino resort as a cook. And I always wanted to go to the universal parks but I couldn’t afford it. And now that I’m retired, I would love to see this epic universe and The other two Parks? I just don’t think I could live with selling my organs

  • Epic Universe is the perfect name for this park indeed. I am finally going to see France. Seeing Dolores Umbridge go down is my favorite part of this! I really hope that the people building this are big fans of the franchise and deliver unlimited easter eggs along the way. Thank you for bringing this to life Universal team. Much love

  • If this is a smashing success, which I believe it will be, Universal Studios will NEED to make a “to scale” Hogwarts Castle. I know, I know, that’s a pipe dream! But it would still be loads of fun to see. I also strongly believe that a “to scale” Starship Enterprise from TNG would be a runaway success.

  • The engineering and design looks incredible, but I am a bit worried about the storytelling and cohesion. Why is the land called “Ministry of Magic” when that’s only one ride in a Wizarding Paris area? What is the explanation for getting us from the 1920’s to the 1990’s? I really hope there’s some extra details we don’t know about yet that tie things together. Stoked for that ride though.

  • The disconnect between the 1920s Paris environment and modern-day London Ministry attraction is really bad, evidence of conceptual weakness. I fear Universal is just hoping people don’t notice, kind of shrugging like “well, it’s the best we can do.” Unfortunately, while guests may intellectually not identify why “it’s not working for them” they will certainly feel the disconnect in a lack of immersion and emotional resonance. You know how Galaxy’s Edge fails to stir the magic in long time Star Wars fans because it doesn’t feel familiar enough…regardles of the bazillions they invested? That’s a lack of resonance, when a themed environment or experience doesn’t quite work on an emotional level…regardless of how objectively gorgeous or lavish the execution. I really hope that Universal figures out an elegant way to link the 1920s Paris and modern-day Umbridge attraction story. It’s an opportunity to not just fix this clash of ideas, it is an opportunity to take theme park story-telling to an even higher level where a narrative, a character arc, a story can be revealed through different perspectives and histories. Instead of a clumsy design it becomes truly innovative similar to how “Sleep No More” expands the idea of theater.

  • So many ‘this the greatest thing ever!’ bots in the comments wow! Anyway, for my and I, this is exactly what we feared. My guess is, Universal bet the house on Fantastic Beasts being a huge hit, and while the first one was charming, the others not so much. So, I am wondering if Universal was able to pivot and change the ride from a Fantastic Beasts themed Ministry, but were simply invested too heavily in the 1920’s Paris theming to alter those plans. Once permits are in place for buildings, it would have cost a fortune to make major revisions to the entire land. This is SO disappointing – if your a fan of Fantastic Beasts, then fine, but I would rather the theming match than do this odd anachronistic blend of old and modern – their is no cohesive narrative so this is big swing and miss for us. We were excited, but now will look forward to the Dark Universe and Mario instead.

  • This land is confused. They started pre-pro on this land when Crimes of Grindelwald had yet to come out, a film that now is considered to be the worst film in a subpar set of spin-offs, problem is they found themselves too far into planning when they realized the land is based on a movie nobody likes. So the bandaid solution was to tie the land back to the main franchise by retheming the land’s marquee attraction to something fans had been asking to have years ago. We’re left with a land that’s still mostly a Parisian street in the 1920s yet we can travel the floo (and through time) to the thing the land is named for, to witness events that didn’t even happen in the books.
