Good Omens season 2 premiered on July 28, 2023, with all six episodes available to stream on Prime Video. The second season will be produced by Amazon Studios, BBC Studios Productions, The Blank Corporation, and Narrativia. The news was announced on May 10, the anniversary of when the book was first published, with Prime Video tweeting a confirmation.
The first series was released on Amazon Prime Video on May 31, 2019, and aired weekly on BBC Two in the UK between January and February 2022. Season 2 began shooting in June 2021, ended in March 2022, and then underwent one year of post-production. Neil Gaiman revealed in April 2024 that he was writing season 3 and that it was expected to begin shooting in January 2025. However, the sexual aspects of the show were not confirmed until December 2023.
The third season is expected to start filming sometime in early 2024, which could mean a late 2024 or 2025 release. The show is created by Neil Gaiman and stars David Tennant, Michael Sheen, Miranda Richardson, and Jon Hamm. The End of the World is coming, which means a fussy release for the cast.
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch is a 1990 novel written as a collaboration between the English authors Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman.

📹 GOOD OMENS Season 2 Ending Explained
Good Omens Season 2 Review, Breakdown and Ending Explained. I discuss the Amazon Prime show which was focussed on …
While I love being part of the GO fandom and I love how passionate the fandom is – some are passionate to a fault. The ending of S2 was incredible – not heartbreaking, not soul destroying – incredible. We got to witness Crowley confess his feelings to Aziraphale. We got Aziraphale happy to throw his entire life on earth away just to see Crowley smile again amongst the stars he created. And we got to see that they are so blinded by the love they have for each other that they never thought to ask how the other wants to be loved. I’m confident we will get a S3 and we will finally get to see that cottage in the South Downs.
There’s a problem here. Gabriel DIDN’T vote against Armaggeddon. He was all for it in series 1. He was against a SECOND attempt – and only because he’d agreed with Beelzebub that it was a bad idea. That’s kind of the whole point of series 2. He voted against Michael’s plan and was about to be cast out for it, so took matters in his own hands.
The reason why Gabriel and Beelzebub were able to go off to Alpha Centauri is because they’re selfish. They didn’t want to work, they didn’t want to deal with another Apocalypse, and they didn’t want to protect the humans. All they care about is themselves and each other. It’s romantic, but selfish, too. Meanwhile Aziraphale’s willing to give up everything he loves – his bookshop, his food, even Crowley – just to save the earth. He wants to make heaven into the good place it should’ve been and he wants Crowley to finally be happy with him. Crowley’s depressed even at the beginning of the season before anything happened. The only time he was truly happy was as an angel smiling, creating the stars etc. Aziraphale just wants to see that smile again.
Very sad but understandable. Aziraphale, as Michael Sheen has said, is a “being of love” and finds it hard to focus mostly or solely on his own desires or pleasure. He still longs to believe that Heaven, the organization he’s devoted his whole life to, can be a source of love for all the people on earth that he loves, including Crowley. Crowley, naturally, having witnessed Heaven’s bloodthirstiness, finds it hard to forgive Aziraphale’s inability to just concentrate his love on one person (Crowley himself). Just please, season 3!
One correction I would offer is that Crowley wasn’t trying to show Aziraphel that he could be good, he was showing Aziraphel that the answers Heaven offered weren’t always the best. As in, Job would prefer his own children to having them killed and then getting new children. Crowley was showing that being good sometimes meant not following orders.
I was torn by this ending, it honestly came unexpected to me. Though i do realize it has potential to plot in season three, there’s certain things i think kind of foreshadow what’s to come in the next season. Also, I just want to say for those who are pretty upset, after Crowley kissed Aziraphale, he did in fact i feel try to call it off with Metatron, maybe he could choose someone else, but he was already far into this after he agreed to it. Aziraphale clearly doesn’t want a second coming, and hes going to have to do something about it but i don’t quite know what yet. I just hope Aziraphale does the apology dance this time and it ends happily between them, which im positive it will just give it time.
Does this hint that Crowley also got some of his memory erased? He doesn’t remember people he met before being a demon, but remembers vaguely he was once an angel and why he was damned, though like we see in the start of good omens 1, it’s like he is introducing himself to azi for the first time. And he’s really settled into being a demon quickly. I demand a season 3, I need my boys together! despite actually not liking much in season 2 and the Crowley and Aziraphale stuff being my main reason for loving the show.
Thank you for this well-rounded review. I actually loved the entire show even though most of the reactions I have seen seem to be concentrated on just the last 15 minutes of episode 6. Many people are acting betrayed by Neil Gaiman because he told fans all along that this would be a soft and romantic interlude between shows 1 and 3. Well, surprise! The middle chapter of a trilogy never ends on a happy note or you would not need a third movie. Demon finds Angel, Demon loses Angel, Demon gets Angel back. That’s the way it goes.
I was kinda drop jawed when the ending split them up … but after thinking about it, the characters don’t really understand each other, although they think they do and the ending brought that into clarity. Gabe and Beelzebub were just … fascinating. On the whole, enjoyed it, but really wasn’t expecting the complete break down of communication at the very end … although I like the reaction to “the second coming” … sort of like, wait, didn’t we already take care of … another way to screw it all up? in Aziraphale’s face
Tell me if this tracks for you for the last episode: Demons’ go-to move is temptation – Metatron gets Aziraphale a tasty barista special and mentions enjoying earthly things himself, then goes on to make him an offer designed to detonate Aziraphale and Crowley’s relationship. Crowley wants nothing to do with Heaven EVER, he feels betrayed by the whole structure. Aziraphale being drafted to run the thing feels another betrayal and worse, asking him to become an ANGEL again? It’s his trauma trigger. Metatron’s trying to control the flow of events; so far, Aziraphale and Crowley as a team have flouted the Apocalypse and hidden the archangel Gabriel with a 25-Lazarii power miracle with the combined Angel-Demon effort. Gabriel and Beelzebub defied Heaven’s orders and managed an AngelxDemon workaround. Metatron NEEDED Crowley and Aziraphale to break up. Heaven doesn’t care about Aziraphale leading anything, he’ll probably be perpetually bogged down in meetings, the entire objective was to end the power multiplyer that is AziraphalexCrowley
I remember getting through the first 4 episodes of season 2 and liking it, but wondering when it was going to get to the point. Then once it did, EVERYTHING fell into place and it all made perfect sense. I loved that about it. I initially came away from the ending thinking that the problem was Aziraphale not being able to accept Crowley as a demon, but now that I’ve done some thinking about it and watched and read a few reviews, I’m not sure that’s the case. I think Aziraphale’s dilemma is that, while he’s seen that Heaven’s angels are not perfect, he still views Heaven itself as objectively “good” and views his job opportunity as a chance to make it better. And I think that within that, he also sees the opportunity to give Crowley back his angel status, which he feels he DESERVES because he’s seen time and time again how good Crowley truly is. The problem arises because he can’t understand why that isn’t something Crowley wants, and Crowley doesn’t do a good job of communicating it. I think it’s kind of funny and yet tragic that Crowley goes directly from his discussion with Maggie and Nina about how he and Aziraphale never really talk to each other… to a conversation with Aziraphale where they once again skirt the issue and fail to actually talk to each other. Or rather, they talk, but neither of them truly listen to what the other is saying because they’ve already made up their minds as soon as the conversation begins. Then they both end up feeling hurt and rejected because Crowley believes Aziraphale is choosing Heaven over him while Aziraphale believes Crowley, by rejecting Heaven, is also rejecting him.
A few things I noticed: One Beez is nonbinary (technically all of the angels and demons are sexless) but Beez in particular uses they/them pronouns. Not she/her. Two, Crowley is not actually an Angel. The whole point of season 1 was that him and Aziraphael are more human than anything. That’s part of their whole misunderstanding. Aziraphale is still biased toward heaven while Crowley s es the toxicity of both sides.
“If it happens again, they’ll begin to think it’s a systemic problem’. It’s either a bug or a feature. I wonder how many times it’s happened over time? The thing that struck me is that the line of recruitment BS that the Metatron is handing Aziraphael doesn’t actually fit Azi at all, but does fit Crowley, or the two of them together.
There was so much to love about season 2; I wish people would stop complaining. Let’s enjoy what there is to enjoy. So many hilarious moments–the apology dance? Learning how Aziraphale found out what a softie Crowley is? Crowley saving baby goats? Gabriel in the book shop making noise and asking silly questions? Muriel on earth? The ball? It was great.
I have a wild theory. Okay so coffee theory to start off, the Metatron miracles Az’s coffee to make him trust in heaven or something along those lines- but I think Az used a miracle blocker- I think Az caught on. I mean how would they fix a miracle?Plus, the whole season is demonstrating how he learns to NOT TRUST heaven, defy them, and unlearn his trauma. Anyway, I think that he caught on and realized he could hv the power to help in stopping the second coming if he agreed, or at least pretended to. He couldn’t communicate this to Crowley because obv Metatron was perusal them. Therefore the regret and anger mixed with resolve after their kiss. He had to hide his plan from Crow, and even worse, convince him of it. He obviously wanted Crow to come with him so he COULD communicate and tell him later but.. he has to understand why he wouldn’t. I mean Az wouldn’t agree to leave Crowley like that, to leave earth like that, and even to destroy the earth in the second coming. That sure isn’t the Az we know and love. Anyway I wish I could explain it better, have a great day everyone.
I really enjoyed the second season. It was an excellent, unusual love story. the ending to me was a powerful one, particularly the juxtaposition of the demon, Crowley, very sad, heartbroken expression, versus Aziraphale’ transformation in his own expression while going up the elevator to Heaven. From pensive about his decision to sadness at his lost friendship to the self righteous and haughty grin, similar to his predecessor, Gabriel, as if the thought of great power was already changing him into a duplicate of the original archangel
Crowley is only a demon bc he dared question God, not bc he was evil. He had opinions of his own and was expecting them to be heard and discussed like in a democracy. Unfortunately, to his detriment, he discovered heaven was a dictatorship with harsh punishments if you dared defy Him. Aziraphale was the only one who not only tried to warn Crowley against his naivety but also understood why he did defy Him, he had worked hard to create some he was so proud of. In this series, you can see how Aziraphale learnt to bend the rules too; he ate flesh, he lied to the angels, he did miracles when he wasn’t meant to etc… So obviously Crowley thought Aziraphale’s mindset was like his in that you couldn’t trust Heaven or Hell and that they (Crowley and Aziraphale) should be the ones to look out for the humans bc clearly no one else cared or understood them. But in my view, Aziraphale still believed that Heaven could be the place he imagined it should be, and the Metatron gave him that chance. The Metatron however, came down to just separate Crowley and Aziraphale, because he (or the powers that be) realised that they were too dangerous together. You see, when Crowley and Aziraphale made that supposed ‘tiny, insignificant miracle’ to obscure the presence of Gabriel from everyone, they inadvertantly created an enormously powerful one instead. Why? How? Even when Gabriel surrendered himself to both rhe demons and the angels, no one recognised him. Alarms went off all over the place and you could see the miracle even ‘from space’!
Overall, I understand why Aziraphale wasn’t exactly READY for Crowley’s confession or kiss, but his look of almost surprising disgust makes no sense to me. I have trouble sometimes deciphering emotional reactions to things, and this was no exception. Which sucks because for the past few days while everyone has been absolutely dying over the ending or enjoying all the little moments the season had to offer, I was constantly wondering what the hell his repones was supposed to mean. Was it actual disgust like it seemed? Was it just plain surprise? Was it something more I couldn’t see?? I DON’T KNOW!! But Michael Sheen did an amazing job with the entire scene as well as the ENTIRE show. Of course David Tennant as well, the entirety of his character is FILLED with his sheer talent. Waiting another few years for season 3 is gonna be of course tough, but it’ll give Neil, Michael and David a chance to fully rest and reoperate for the next season. Including their hair!! Lol. I’m sure their roots will be grateful for the break. Remember, if season 2 doesn’t get enough views then Amazon is less likely to fund a season 3. So even if you aren’t ACTIVELY perusal, put the show on in the background of your life if you can. Get the viewership up so they’ll have no choice but to finish Aziraphale and Crowley’s story!!
I agree I think David Tennet really needs to be on a larger stage. That guy has become one of my favorite actors of the modern age. Huge range of talents and while I’m grateful hes doing roles like this, I really do wish someone would try to get him sign onto something larger. Then again maybe he just doesn’t want to either way always look forward to more of that guy.
One of my pet peeves of the S1 and the S2 is archangels hierarchy. Here AA Gabriel was shown as the highest ranked among the archangels, closest to God, making all the decisions and pulling all the strings accordingly; while AA Michael was depicted as the lower ranked and even not so skilled or smart. When actually it is AA Michael who is said to be the leader of the heavenly, who led the “armies” of God against Satan and whose name means “who is like God”. As for the comments regarding AA Metatron, he is one of only two angels (along with Sandalphon) that are believed to have ascended from a human incarnation on earth, into the angelic realm. That could explain why he is the only angel not wearing white: and is both like good and evil – just like humans are.
It was horribly sad. Now I want a Good Omens Season 3 – they can’t just leave it like this. On the people living in their shops….you didn’t notice most had stairs to upstairs apartments. That wasn’t unusual for shops built in the time they supposedly were built in. So living in their shops isn’t that unusual.
I had postponed perusal the final episode as much as possible (not wanting to say goodbye to our duo) and I wasn’t expecting that! It broke my heart! A Season 3 is needed not only to follow Crowley and Azi on a personal level, but also because a vast amount of possibility has opened up before us (thanks to Derek Jacobi, Doctor Who’s easter egg). For me, the end credits are a prelude to season 3, we feel all the emotions of the characters thanks to the exceptional acting of David Tennant and Michael Sheen, brilliant in their respective roles. I find season 2 very successful, we learn a lot more about them and the plot is well conducted until the eccentric and unexpected outcome, in several acts. And of course I loved all the Doctor Who Easter eggs 🐣 “It’s bigger on the inside”! Fingers crossed for season 3 (even if it will be the last)!!
I look forward to learning more about Crowley’s back story. Not only did he have high ranking clearance before he was made a demon; he was given the important task of tempting the humans into eating the forbidden fruit and later dealing with the anti Christ. A fanfiction theory is that he used to be an archangel. And although there is supposed to be seven/twelve, Gabriel was stated to be the only one that was left with archangel status in Good omens. It makes me wonder about the others . Why are michael’s group not given the same ranking as Gabriel and what happened to the rest of the group?
I don’t think I would say the two want different things but rather that Aziraphale has faith in the goodness of the angels but Crowley does not share that faith. I think they maybe setting the Metatron as the bad guy, for me it could go a few ways. Metatron is secretly Satan ( I did feel like Metatron was tempting Aziraphale at the end) or Metatron is no longer speaking for God. (which I though was possible in season one). The issue with season 2 and also 3 is the fact that their is only one book and the whole story was told in season one. So Neil has to write up season two himself but Terry and him had talked about other books. I do believe Neil has said he is writing season three shortly after finishing season two.
I enjoyed it more than the first season. I think the sweetness was what made it. I smiled the whole time, when I was laughing out loud. John Finnemore is a great comedy writer so I think they were smart to bring him on board. I’m not sure I agree at the end is Aziraphale caring more about running Heaven than about Crowley. I think he genuinely wanted to do something great, and it probably did appeal to his ego, you could see he was terrified in the lift, he probably just feels duty weighing on him.
I watched the finale thinking that there wasn’t going to be another season. I was under the impression that this season came about because of the fans, not because there was more story to tell. So, I was VERY thrown off when it had such a sad ending. But if this really is a set up for a season 3, then that puts a whole other light on things. If that was the actual ending of the series, I think, they perhaps could have done better, but if it’s a set up for season 3, I’m totally fine with it! Weird, right? Absolutely fantastic show. I loved how front and center Aziraphale and Crowley’s characters were, as well as their relationship. I think because this season was not based on any previously written book like season 1, they were able to make their relationship even more of a focus. I love these guys and this world. Here’s hoping for a season 3!!!
it didn’t take him centuries get the courage say what he said, he never even knew what his feelings meant until the humans explained to him. neither of them realized they loved each other even though they were always together. being angels (and subsequently demon), they never really knew the concept of love. it’s tragic because when they did finally know, they couldn’t agree upon how to be together. they both had different ideas on how they both should be.
But the smile…. THE SMILE…. throughout the ending credits and split screen of Crowley driving and Az ascending, Az has a bit of a half-smile going on for quite a long time until the very end and the smile becomes much bigger. What is going through his mind at that moment? That’s the cliffhanger for me.
I hope the end is with them sat on a beach ⛱ in Alpha Centauri drinking red wine, eating cake . Then it fades out then pulls back to show a suggestion box is where Manaton used to float, then you see an arm raise and a hand pop a note into the suggestion box .Then fades to black . But that’s just me 😂😂😂😂😂
I look forward to seeing how Azi and Crowely will “mess things up” with the 2nd coming in the 3rd season (if there is one). I wonder how it will differ from the 1st season; If there will be another baby involved, etc. I look forward to seeing what the writers, artists, and actors create. And I most definitely hope to see the two of them finally get together.
When I tell you that I cried and screamed and placed in circles for a full 10 mins after perusal that ending. It broke me. But it’s OK, because right now Aziraphale is in his Avatar- The Last Airbender season-2- finale/ early- season-3 Zuko period. He’ll get there, he’ll get that kick in the ass that he so desperately needs to go back to Crowley and do an extended version of the I’m- sorry dance. It better come with freaking fireworks. AND THERE BETTER BE A SEASON 3 OR I SWEAR TO GRASS I WILL RIOT!!!!!!
I love this Series, Sea 2 was better then 1 Because it took our favorite most intriguing Character’s show of an likely pair thru time. And the rest surrounding the barriers of them. Light and Dark, and thee Grey’s. The lead, and Supporting Cast was fantastic. And the personalities became warm, and invited us to dine on scrumptious, limitless amounts of yummy funny, and mysterious Circumstances, between Azi and Crow ly. The problem we came to love the two so much, Shipping hearts beckoned the two’s unlikely friendship’s to grow beyond the barricades of Stick up the bum above Heaven, and cluelessly cruel Below. Azi pulled constantly and not without playing with the rules of Heaven. To Crow Ly Being let down and dragged into the battle no matter how he still feels as a Angelican Host. So Azi and Crow ly both skate over the thin layers dropped before them. Trying so hard to take into account the two don’t need the Negative energy both Heaven or Hell can ever convey. Sadly after everything Crow ly and Azi have been thru, only one of them can see beyond the blind acceptance, of both up and down. Crow ly had open eyes, and his heart ever beat true for Azi. And we all know how Heaven calls to him. But both him and Crow ly are torn from one another out of lack of Compromise, and apprehension in place of Communication, way before Crow ly kissed Azi. So this is where we all stand, awaiting for our favorite Character’s to find one another again. I’m pretty sure Gaiman, has some Nightingale’s up his talented and Prideful black velvet sleeves.
I’m curious where you got that fact that Michael wasn’t smart. Other than there being a barrier for human culture they’re lowkey the smartest one. Rewatching season 1 it was Michael that caught on to the fact that Aziraphale was meeting privately with Crowley. And she also tricked Gabriel in letting her investigate with hell. Even in season 2 she had her doubts about how babies came. It is true Michael who would have led the armies of god but, I wonder if that’s because Gabriel’s actor is a bigger deal, idk.
David Tennant and Michael Sheen, (or should that be Michael Sheen and David Tennant? Staged reference) have such amazing chemistry together that the love between Aziraphale and Crowley is palpable. I was like NO!!!!! When their relationship ended the way it did. Honestly I don’t trust The Metatron. Speaking of a Staged reference/Easter egg, I love that there’s one point Crowley is wearing the plastic hair band that Tennant wore on the show. 😊
I knew this is where Azeriphale and Crowley were headed. I’m really glad the show was brave enough to do it. I’m a little disappointed with the implementation. It felt a little rushed to me. I get it, high emotions, characters seeing something romantic and acting impulsively. I get it. But I feel like the kiss would’ve been more rewarding if they’d just given it a little more time. Let it bake a little more. I legitimately didn’t think Crowley was going to admit anything. Like he wouldn’t have said anything, he would have left… and the next season, after a ton of romantic tension… THEN you do the kiss. Excited to see where they take it, but wish the “will they won’t they” got more screentime.
Also do not trust the metatron at all and I think him choosing Aziraphale is really to separate them both like yeah he said Aziraphale could bring crowley but he knew he wouldn’t want that or it wouldnt work. and in heaven Aziraphale will probably have less of an idea of whats really happening. also I don’t get gabriel having the same memory as the job god moment – like he said the thing god said but he wasn’t there yet. I think there might be something with god being awol or having amnesia as well or it could make sense her asking all the questions is the whole all knowing god not providing any info thing.
My thoughts on ending is that: Crowley was like second hand of The God and when he was banned from heaven his hearth was broken. As an angel Crowley was unconditionally love God, but after ban he don’t have to love God anymore. Azaraphel is an angel, so it is obvious that he love God and being closer is his the most desire, he might love Crowley, but love for God is bigger. Foe Crowley God is like ex love and what I understand Hi don’t want to go back. He already knows that it is not healthy relationship to be the closest angel. Crowley was banned, Gabriel run away… probably Azaraphiel will see that later and it will break his hearth and I assume that Crowley don’t want to have heart brocken again that why he don’t want to go back to heaven
I reckon this was one big trick from the Metatrone. Azira still has a complex of a “good boy” and he feels he is better than Crowley. He still sees him as a lesser being if you look a this. A foul fiend. He teams up with him when it is convenient when he needs help but he still doesn’t like to admit he is his friend and especially not to Heaven. He only would be with him if Crowley took his offer and became an Angel again which shows Azi is embarrassed that Crowley is a demon. He doesn’t accept him as he is and he wants to change him to an Angel so he can be with him and not be embarrassed because Crowley would be an Angel, so that would be all right. I think after arriving to Heaven he will be punished severely, and put in Heaven prison. I reckon the Metatron just wanted to separate him from Crowley so they can go ahead with the second Armageddon. I reckon in season 3 we will see Crowley will be yet again rescuing his angelic ass.
Just watched the finale. Flummoxed, gobsmacked, discombobulated! My first words were Gaiman, you Bastard! I thought I’d gotten a handle on the man after all this time, but nnoo! There’d bloody well better be a season 3! Poor Crowley. And poor Aziraphale too, I’d suspect. And where was God? She’d nattered on throughout season 1, and the implication is that not even Metatron really knows what’s going on. It just better be ineffable, that’s all. And I hope Neil hears that I called him a bastard. It really was a compliment. Peace out.
Season 2 was pretty good, but Season 1 was so much better. Jon Hamm’s dimwitted Jim/James/Gabriel was the scene stealer. There is not one IOTA of Don Draper in there, and it shows him to be a truly gifted actor. Plus, that blue tuxedo…🤣. The ending was a let down. I definitely didn’t want to see some lame, boring earthly romance between the demon and the angel. They are so much bigger and far more interesting than that. They’ve been reduced to one of us; boring, average, regular, earthly humans, and it is a let down. In the words of Gabriel, “Nah”.
I enjoyed Season 2, even if the ending wasn’t the one I wanted. Still, its an ending I understand and respect. Aziraphale still believes in heaven, and that he can make heaven live up to his idea of what it should be. Crowley feels that he has seen to much to believe in either Heaven or Hell. If this is where things end, I can live with it but I would like to see a Season 3 to see if being in Heaven full time changes Aziraphale’s perspective on this. It will be interesting to see where this goes.
This season was so incredibly TV, especially compared to the book. Season one felt like a TV version of the book but season two was just TV lol. It’s honestly starting to give me major supernatural vibes which is so odd as someone who read the book first (no shade to supernatural it’s just very different). It’s the way you can tell they had to come up with a new plot that would prevent the characters from getting a conclusive ending. Like crowley and aziraphale had almost the exact same confrontation in season one before going and saving the world together and concluding the plot and aziraphale seemingly realized that they can be on their own side and just be happy on earth but then season two came along and crafted a plot specifically to roll back his character development for drama. I get that they had to do that and come up with a plot it’s just the kind of stuff that makes it feel so TV and not like a coherent story. A lot of the fans will see a really amazing story but in a lot of cases they are the ones crafting it in their own minds by shaving off the rough edges and adding their own nuance and I guess I just wish we could hold TV to a higher standard and let stories be told coherently rather then it having to be one season at a time, giving it a potential ending but with potential for another season etcetera. I’m really glad other people enjoyed this season but I honestly just kind of didn’t.
IMHO S2 was not remotely as good as S1. The ending was heartbreaking tho. I can understand both decisions…. Crowley was used to bring his own boss and he loved it. No reporting to anyone or being forced to do anything he really couldn’t be bothered to do. He had independence and that was his crowning glory. Aziraphale had always loved Heaven and missed it terribly, but knew that if he ever was to go back he’d never see Crowley again, so he chose to remain on Earth for millennia and over this time his affection for Crowley continued to grow. Crowley finally being able to admit that he loved something other than himself and was willing to share his independence with Aziraphale was a HUGE evolution but in the end it IS that sense of independence that drives him. He’ll share it, but he will never sacrifice it to be subservient to anyone again. Which is why he declined the opportunity to return to Heaven as an angel. Yes, he would have power and yes, he would have redemption and YES he would be able to spend eternity with Aziraphale, but ultimately, he would again be answerable to a higher authority and that, above anything, he can not bring himself to do. Aziraphale, on the other hand, despite his ability to bend the rules on occasion has yet to reach that level of evolution as a character. He has always wanted to ‘do good’ and he has fallen in love with Earth as well as with Crowley. So when the opportunity to ‘save’ both by being the Supreme Archangel with full powers of direction over Earth AND being able to restore Crowley to an angelic status, he thought he had won the jackpot. In his naiveite it hadn’t even dawned on him that Crowley would say no. After all, it was everything they ever wanted, or so he thought, when in truth Crowley just wanted them to be themselves and answer to no one. It was a difficult decision to be made and an impossible choice at the same time. Perhaps in S3 we will see Aziraphale’s evolution as well – that being in a position to do the most good is meaningless if the person he wants to be with the most can never be a part of those plans; that it is time for Aziraphale to do the ONE thing he’s never been able to do – be selfish for a change. I also think, in the future, both Heaven and Hell will try ANYTHING to keep these two from getting back together. After all, if one Archangel and one Duke of Hell overcome their differences and fall in love, it’s a fluke. A once in an eternity thing. If it were to happen again, it’s a precedent – what is the purpose of Good and Evil if the Celestial and Infernal can just swap sides and go off into the sunset together at a whim? The entire structure of the universe would unravel. All because of love. Or, maybe…. that’s just part of the plan. The ineffable plan…. <3
I wouldn’t watch Good Omens, if I didn’t see the animations on youtube of Crowley and Aziraphale and the kiss scene. I started to watch the first season, but it was kinda boring and weird made (the peculiar style of Neil Gaiman movies) so I didn’t really like it and I skipped some parts. But the 2nd season was so lovely, that I finished it in a one day. ❤ I enjoyed it and rewatched some episodes a few times. There was really different vibe, than in the first 6 episodes. (Sorry for my English. If something isn’t understandable please write it down and I’ll correct it.)
As with The Rings of Power, this Prime season 2 sought to subvert viewer expectation, and it succeded in that I expected it to be good, and it wasn’t. The first season was great, but I hated season 2. Unlike S1, all the clues that were laid out were not relevant to solving the puzzle, and the cause of the main issue was entirely explained in a flasback montage in the last minutes of the last episode. Unlike S1, the risk facing the heros was ultimately solved by Deus ex Machina instead of by their resourcefullness. Unlike S1, Crawley turns out to have been a nice guy who has been secretly preforming miracles to save humans from harm since the time of Job, pushing Azraphel’s cause for trusting him back a few millenia. So, unlike S1, nothing Crawley and Azraphel did between the first and last episode had much effect on the outcome, and they were just along for the ride. … and demons turn out to be less dangerous than the burglers from Home Alone.
Yes, I hope for another season. I did think season 2 was uneven. Very slow start in first episode. Most comedic part was with the Book of Job. Always fun to make fun of the illogic of the Bible. It was the satire of Christian mythology that really made season 1. Let’s take down Jesus – a most ridiculous fiction.
The explanation is neil the little fucker wants us to pine and be frustrated all the way til season 3. He also knows how much of a fangirl amazon is for the series so he knows if he make it end drasticly they’ll beg him to make season 3 The sun of a Gun is smart… I love neil, love azi and crowley ♥︎
Suspension of disbelief got wrecked when you realize that nearly everyone is gay. Statistically speaking, it doesn’t make much sense. The bland lesbians. The gay guy and his cross dressing husband. The guy that decided to dictate the shop meeting. It would seem the only non-gay characters were the owner of the bordello, Gabriel, and the demon. Then they make the MCs needlessly gay too? Guess the writers felt like the group is so underrepresented that they’d just full bore overrepresent, but it only served to kill the fun of the show. Believable characters are fun, token characters are pointless.
Well, there obviously cannot be pure platonic friendship anymore. That was the point of the book, wasn’t it? But no, we can’t have nice things ever again, 2 men that are friends are either gay or should kill each other in the end. Cringe. The line with two women in love was unnesessary, bloated, boring and a waste of time. Cut that line out – nothing would change.
