Colovaria is a charm that allows wizards to change the color of objects or animals, but it was never named in the books or films. It is seen at the end of The Sorcer and is not mentioned in any other works of fiction. In preparation for the new Stranger Things/D and D collaboration, CBR explores the most powerful spells ever conjured in the Harry Potter universe.
The Fidelius Charm is among the strongest spells of protection, first used by the Potters when they go into hiding with their son Harry. Overpowered sorceries like Night Comet, Ancient Death Rancor, and Cannon of Haima provide players with powerful tools to defeat enemies. Casting spells depends on various factors, and there is no single day that is better or worse for casting spells. Some spells may perform better at different times, such as the three days after the New Moon for growth and beginnings, the Waxing Moon for love spells, and the Godsblast for destroying everything in the sky.
Professional spell casters spend years learning about the best voodoo love spells to improve your chances of finding true love. Learn the best details for casting a powerful love binding to enhance your spell-casting abilities.

As a child, Brooke turned to witchcraft for answers to her depression. When she was 14 the depression lifted, but the answer was …
📹 The Strongest Spell in Dungeons and Dragons
This is the finale of my series on spells. The rituals of myriad. —————————————————————– Support me on …
this is pretty inspiring bc i was getting into witchcraft lately . i always had faith in god but while i was practicing some of the things i felt like this really bad energy and it made me uncomfortable and i read in the bible how witchcraft is associated with the devils power. i threw my tarot cards away 🙂
Okay first of all, im sure she jumped into doing things like witchcraft without actually knowing what she was doing. IF you ever choose to mess with this ALWAYS ALWAYS make sure you know what you are getting into. She said it herself she used this as a means of revenge. If you hurt others it comes back to you. You can’t mess with the balance of life and when you do it WILL throw your own life off.
I used to be very anti Christian. I hated the bible, I hated god, I hated everything about religion. I then looked into the bible hoping that I could prove it wrong. But instead I got the opposite. I learnt things about Jesus and how the bible contains historical events, even containing the resurrection of Christ as a historical event. But it was the testimony’s that made my believe even more. Jesus Christ saved me from damnation. I cannot thank him enough. I pray every single day and read the bible every single night. I’m only 16 now but I cannot wait for what Jesus has in store for me in the future. God bless you all. Amen 🙏🏻✝️❤️
WOW! AWESOME TESTIMONY! Thank you so much for sharing this! God did this for me when my mother died. I was 16 and the grief was unbearable. Then one day, all of a sudden, it was gone. For a couple of years I thought I was nuts. I didn’t know what was going on. Then I heard a minister read Isaiah 53 which says Jesus would deliver us from grief and I understood I’d been delivered.
God is worth everything. I grew up in the occult since a child so it’s what I knew. The reality is that these demons/spirits do help you, however they bring you more problems in order to enslave you into worshipping them, feeding them. I saw my life not moving forward, so I had a wooden cross hidden behind one of my pagan saints. It had tipped over like Here I Am!! That was a sign. Every ritual you do, even if not to harm someone, is against God, so I’m no longer doing any spells or rituals. I feel clean. I won’t allow myself to get sucked in. Even though they punish you for turning to god- which they do. I’m putting my life in gods hands.
I’m pretty sure what she experienced was sleep paralysis, many sleep paralysis victims hallucinate of shadowy figures. And that pressure she felt when she woke up was probably heavy anxiety. I have no doubt she was experiencing a panic attack. Now why did this happen? I believe it was Karma. A core belief of Wicca is “Do as you will, if it harm none”. She cast those spells seeking revenge. If you intentionally put someone through pain then you better know you will be experiencing that same pain sometime soon.
She threw all of those books away? That’s really a shame of good material. Witchcraft is not to gain power. Not to me atleast. I do witchcraft to reconnect with nature, to find my roots in this world. And if there are any angry Christians out there who are gonna try to come after me, goodluck! All I do is work with energies and vibrations. I make tea, read books, make protection spells, work with the God Loki and I adore nature. I’m glad this girl found what was right for her and I hope that she’s happy now. Blessed be!♥️
I am a Wiccan/Witch and I would just like to say that magik is not evil, it is all about the intention and the state of mind that you are in. Magik should be done when you are in a neutral or happier mood because your feelings go into your magik. If you are in a depressed state then that energy will go into your spells and make them go a way that you don’t expect or want. I think that is why she had a bad experience with it.
I am a wiccan and when times were rough in my life, I found Wicca and it helped me so much. I get that many people seek god and end up being christian. I am so happy for the girl, I am, but don’t tell people what to do and believe in. I don’t hate christianity as a religion, but I do hate the things some christians do in the name of it. Christianity is a good concept – it’s about loving people and doing no harm (like Wicca). I have christian friends that know I practice witchcraft and they are chill with that. I’m not telling others that what I believe in is what everyone should believe in, so please stop telling others to seak your god. I don’t know, if any god exists at all but I feel Wicca and my God and Goddess fit me, so I am wiccan. And about witches following/being controled by Satan – no. Satan is something from christianity, not Wicca. Please, don’t try to explain everything with your christian dictionary, thank you. Also, there are christian witches out there, just so you know. You don’t have to be wiccan to be a witch – magick is a practice, not a religion and you can combine those two however you like. World is full of magic and we all put a little bit of it into everything we do, witches are just taking it to another level. Go watch a article about witches from Anthony Padilla and Blessed be ⭐
I found this article because I found myself in a similar situation. I’m a Christian and was raised in the church. Still I seeked a spiritual advisor to remove what prophet’s told me for year’s there was a hex surrounding me even tho God was protecting me from it. Soon as a ritual was performed it felt like God left me, it was a chill. Immediately things turned for the worse in my life. As I researched the Bible I kept finding verses saying God condemns witchcraft or whosoever seeks their guidance. I prayed multiple time’s but thing’s aren’t as they were. What should I do?
One thing I’m confused about is why only god’s power is considered good? Witchcraft isn’t all cursing people and mind control. There are other things, like taking bad energy from your home and cleansing your spirit. Protecting other people/yourself from bad fortune of events. People CAN use magick for good, and they do. They don’t even have to give up their faith. You can be Christian and a witch, but as you can see it is very controversial. God may be the most powerful, but he isn’t the only one that tries to do good.
No matter how many times we, believers explain to non believers the love and holiness of the LORD, they would never understand… simply because they have not experienced His love. Satan has blinded the people of this world purposefully to hate God and choose to be independent and not reliable on God, to always choose to sin and remain miserable. It’s just a matter of time till you find out the truth about witchcraft. Pray, repent and ask Jesus to come in to your life and you’ll be transformed.
God doesn’t look favorably at those who do witchcraft in fear that they will realize how futile praying to him is. So he sends his demons to scare them, then puts a message in their head telling them to repent and to “shower in the light and love of God”. He didn’t save her, he used her to further his message of “Dont worship older more powerful Gods” because that throws off his “All seeing, All knowing and All powerful” appearance.
I practice withcraft and I think the reason she had the dark figure is because she jumped right to spells without having protection. I am glad she found a path that was better for her, but witchcraft isn’t really bad. I was raised in a Christian family but yet I have found more joy and comfort as a pagan and witch. Christianity is her path, and paganism is mine, but neither are bad and I hope that someone understands
I grew up in paganism. Honestly I can attest that witchcraft can have the allure and illusion of power but it only baits you to continue to do more, to sacrifice more of yourself and your well being. It leaves you hollow, always searching, always needing. I’m at the point of turning away from that path and find myself reading the Bible more. Christ has been the only one in my life that shows up, there’s something to that.
but it was her intention. witchcraft isn’t all about black magick and evil spells. it’s actually (mostly) all about white magick, and it was her intention, and that is everything when it comes to witchcraft. and her wanting power and being bigger and better came back to her, it wasn’t because she drew a pentacle, and pentacles can be a form of protection. take this from someone who practices witchcraft 🙂
This is a nice story and we should all be happy for her that she found peace. There’s so many unexplainable occurrences like what happened to this girl. A few people I know including myself have experienced things beyond explanation just like this girl. To attribute them to one religion though is incorrect because these unexplainable things have been occurring probably since the beginning of man’s consciousness.
I just want to say something. One: wicca isn’t evil. In facr, wiccans have a rule against hurting people and are some of the kindest people. Two) wiccans don’t believe in the devil, so nope, they don’t “worship satan.” i completely respect Christianity and if you believe god helps you then thats great, but don’t attacl wiccans for believing in the power of nature
“Every time society has distanced itself from the Gospel, which preached humility, fraternity, and peace, the people have been unhappy, because the pagan civilisation of ancient Rome, which they wanted to replace it with, is based only on pride and the abuse of force” Albert I on what would happen if Belgium abandoned Christian Ideals.
So theres this thing called the three fold law, whatever you put out comes three times back as bad. So when she said “dont mess with me or you’ll get it” soumds like she was using magic to harm others thats what attracted the demon. She woke up healed, so her spell worked she wasn’t even looking at the bible then. As soon as she starts to control her spell she reads one part of a book and throws her whole life away. Smh
I am beginning to do magic right now and I know you can’t cast spells so powerful to help by depression if you are an beginner. Maybe she just casted the false spell and accedentaly casted an evil spirit. I don’t want to say that she is wrong to believe in Jesus and stuff I accept everyone who believes in that I just want to explain the situation so people don’t get the false ideas about witchcraft.
1:15 Something tells me she didn’t draw a proper circle before doing a spell- Honestly though I’m glad she’s okay. Witchcraft may not have been for her, and I’m sorry that she had such a bad experience, but at least she found the light that she needed in her life. I hope she will come to find that witchcraft is not the evil sorcery that she thinks it is someday. Blessed be, sister. Go in peace. 🌙💕
I have Jesus but I still have had to stay on anti-depressants. I’ve tried to go off of them different times in my life but it always ended badly and I would have to take them again. I really believe Jesus heals us in different ways. Some He decides to touch and heal instantly. Some He chooses not to heal for His reasons and some He allows them to find the right medicine to help them.
Nothing is impossible for God. He can break through any spells, He can break through anything which holds a person down in bondage! It is special how she got free’d out from this! It is also special how she felt more helpless than being in control as she felt earlier, as this is really how most people are in truth when they are bound by their sins in life. They feel as they are in control whilst they are not, if they aren’t saved they are bound by the wages of sins. Which will produce the end result of death as well as God’s wrath! It is only when you are saved in Jesus Christ that you will ecperience true freedom and peace from within! He looses you from the wages of sins because of what He did for you on the cross, and then getting ressurected from the grave on the third day!
Witchcraft has many positive spell like healing cleansing and protection. Their are different level of witchcraft being a beginner you can’t perform higher level of craft it could bring harm to you and God is our supreme power our mother and father as well, if you do spells that are positive, good and not harming anyone elseyou. with no bad intention without a proper reason then God will always be their for you.
Not all magic is bad, the world that we live in is itself a manifestation of imagination and intention. If what is written in Leviticus is true then it demands clarification because one could infer the need to bind their soul within a cage if it is taken too literally. Don’t make deals with things that you don’t understand otherwise exploration and innocent (not intended to effect another without consent) practice doesn’t seem to me to be something that offends god or the universe.
People are often confused at how a game at Walmart can open a portal to Hell. (A Ouija Board) How can a game made by Parker Brothers have that power? The answer is it doesn’t. The power is in us. Our will power keeps our souls inviolate. However when you use a Ouija board, when you do witchcraft, you are saying to the spirit world “I am opening myself… come in” and guess what? They come in. That is why it is the single worst thing you can do. Only dark energy would want to come into anothers soul to begin with. That’s why these things always go bad. You could draw a Ouija board on a floor yourself… it will work as well as any other, because the power is not in the board, it is in you and you are relaxing control of yourself and asking to be possessed. They should be avoided at all cost. Ouija isn’t a game, and witchcraft isn’t a joke… or a good thing.
I’m happy for her and her overcoming her depression but that had nothing to do with witchcraft being “evil”. Everything (including christianity, and witchcraft) has the polarities of “good” and “evil” within them. When used correctly and with proper education and with the intention of love behind it, witchcraft is a beautiful tool that can really help people, it is almost identical to the concept of praying in christianity. Spells are just written prayers, sometimes it incorporates other emblems and natural materials from mother earth. Please don’t spread false information just to get people to join your church or whatever this is. As a witch I respect all faiths including christianity (big fan of Jesus, really sound lad) even if i don’t agree with everything they believe in. Why not practise your religion by spreading love instead. Jesus loved thy neighbour and didn’t judge. Peace out.
You have to do your research before you perform spells. It is never a good idea to invoke deities without having any clue what you’re doing. Which might have been the case here. I’m glad she found her way out of the depression through her gods guidance. But yet again another evil protrayal of witchcraft or wicca, really?!
This is all great, blah blah, I really am happy for her but I can’t stand all of this bigotry. This isn’t a good example of Wicca or witchcraft. She jumped in with no understanding and horrible intentions. She messed up. I however, do not believe what you do. Don’t bash what I believe and what I do. Also, you don’t wake up with cured depression, you have to work your way out of it.
people dont understand us yet. we trancend human lmits that are patterned and percieved i see this all day of my life i know uncomfort we will never blend in without accepting we are redisposed to expend. i am a scholar so my aims are always percieved as philisohpical. and no they are not to be feared . Would you free yourself by accepting that matter has patterns because we percieve “things” in similar ways .when you do you will rush off in the service of the One. because they are just like us passively always guiding us we as humans are fascinating but if you truly understood those percieved and talked about how romantic they are with problems. i can heal things because sometimes. that little girl from the excorsist really just needed some insanity herself because when you have absolute difficulty with doing the wrong things you go into a state of self bliss it may seem redundant but i have grown up around hardship. people see others in difficultie but there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking the man at the beach aouth that sea weed man! if i had some time out from my insane life that is bs i could farm all types of things . dont be afraid to think in this way. remind that woman who keeps saying negatie things to such postive prson
Using Witchcraft to go against others, to be better than everyone else and instill fear in people is truly not a good path especially when she was battling depression. I’m sorry but she got what she deserved. What you send out will come back to you. In my defense, practicing Witchcraft is not a bad thing UNLESS you make it into a bad thing and so, expect bad events to follow suit. I noticed she said Wicca which in Wicca Religion it clearly states, “Do What Ye Wilt Yet Harm None.” That basically means, do what is good and good will come back to you, harm no one or karma will come back to correct you. I understand that she converted to Christianity but her true intentions got the best of her. As for depression, if she used her power to do good then she wouldn’t be depressed. Wicca is about Nature so I don’t understand why she didn’t get the fact that Nature should of helped her out, use herbs. Eat fruits and vegetables. You know? Clear your mind and sage would helped her to banish negativity but she is the one who brought on that negativity to herself not Wicca and certainly not Witchcraft.
I guess we’re supposed to count the hits and ignore the misses. GOD IS NO BETTER THAN RANDOM CHANCE is basically a placebo effect. Only you can create a real change in your life, god just might make you “feel good” while doing it, or trick you into thinking he somehow did it, like any true placebo effect would do. With prayer you might as well be flipping a coin or living your life via magic 8 ball. I know some things may seem miraculous, but the simply aren’t. With the lottery for example we tend to only interview the individual who won the lottery rather that the millions who did not. For the person who won “it was a miracle. I mean what are the odds?” But for everyone else who lost there was no miracle to be seen. It’s like giving a 100 people each a coin and and then having them all flip it, if they get heads they stay, in they get tails, they are eliminated. Have them flip once, then half of them are out. Have the remaining individuals repeat the coin flip, and another half leaves. We continue this until the last two people are left, and then one of them wins. Well you may think the winner cheated or somehow this was some sort of crazy superstitious phenomena, I mean he flipped a heads more than ten consecutive times! But in reality this is just how statistics, chance, and sample sizes work. Someone had to be the one to flip it the coin consecutively however many times in order to win. It may seem spooky, but this is just how our brains can be wired to see “superstitious occurrences” where there are none.
The only thing i can believe is that humanity is going to suffer and God is going to sit back with a bucket of popcorn and watch. most of the people that say God is so good are people with money and they don’t have to endure the hardships that the extremely poor have to endure. God is the most loving kind gentle God when you don’t have to suffer. Bologna.
If you are polythestic then you can practice both religions multiple religions at once. This article portrays the wiccan community as only negative. That is not true. Just like Christianity every religion has it’s good followers and it’s bad followers. This article is sweet I’m glad she found her thing but it is very one sided.
Ha ha an 11 or 14 year old girl doesn’t practice witchcraft, you don’t just decide to become a pagan from one day to another and then you’re a witch 😀 At that age you’re just confused and in search of something that might help you to feel better. Depression doesn’t just go away because of some believe, it is a psychological issue that should be treated professionally.
Tip for witch craft work victims : Use holly text hearing and reciting to break any negative energy including withcraft, and what makes spell stronger is when the target deal with the withches or those who send it and also doing sins, the most pressure is that the witches will focus more in the one who use holly book to break it and know how that why they gather powers and implant more allies of their kind doing the same sothey force the one who use holly text not to break it due to pressue because it will be all against one but holly text is too powerfull the more oneself use it the more it gets weaker and turn againt their doer and who help them directly or indirectly till all destroyed and with privilege that God fight with his holly speech user which is mean that whatever they do soon or later will destroy them /allies and that why you shouldnt fear them or it, they need you to fear them so its gets stronger but its truth that it is too weak against holly text . P.s: the more you know who witched you its inje6nces gets weaker that why they do join more witch users (hidde and even known) to comejoined powers so it influence increase and dont mind to rescue any of your love ones, friend …etc who got caught under it influence or one of its users because that they will destroy you along with them incase they didnt manage to break free of it or deals with any of their doer because they are spirtually weak stat they will destroy/drain you and exchust you with them till destruction as another controling strategy to drag down the target alone with anything that could help them To break free from under their control .
Id like to clarify a few things as a practicing pagan. First their is no right or wrong path. If christianity brings you peace and gives the drive and desire to be a better person then do it. If wicca, taoism, buddhism, islam or any other belief system helps you on your personal journey then do it 🙂 Unfortunately I hear a lot of people turn to other sources like magick or wicca in times of loneliness, despair and frustration. We all seek to feel loved and appreciated. If you dont feel that spark or feel a resonance within your soul then try different beliefs and always seek knowledge in all aspects of life. If you are drawn towards the many paths of magick do research, make sure you understand what you are doing and be fully aware of what you are hoping to achieve and what it takes to make that happen. It is a good idea to cast a protective circle when doing certain spells. All things are energy. Some positive and some negative. Remember like attracts like. We are all trying to better ourselves and find our truth. May we all walk our path in light and love. Blessed be.
I don’t believe JESUS leaves us for a second. Everyone has to find him within themselves. Remember when JESUS couldn’t find ADAM and EVE in the garden……they were hiding as they had committed sin. JESUS let’s us run but, he’s always in the wings perusal over us. Prayer is the only way back to him and he’s always waiting on us.
What a laughable piece of anti-Wiccan propaganda, and the story is so obviously made-up and one that I totally haven’t heard before.. “I was depressed, decided to try witchcraft, saw demons and then turned to Jeezus” yep, haven’t heard that one before lmao. Although I don’t do witchcraft myself, I consider myself to be a Wiccan. I have boundless respect and admiration for all things nature and I believe Mother Nature is suffering due to our greed and destructive ways as human beings and as a result, Her wrath will be upon us all soon enough.
“…you can bind the entity…” “…there must be ways to break the seals…” “…you could bind a god…” Me: Me: Me: Me: Wait Me: IS THAT HOW TIAMAT WAS IMPRISONED IN AVERNUS?! Rise of Tiamat explicitly says that Severin learns how to break the seals that trap her in Avernus and that Zariel knows Tiamat knows how to do it.
So, this has some potential implications for the god Wee jas. From what I read Wee jas lives on the lowest level of Acheron, Acheron is the realm where everything lost and forgotten eventually ends up, it’s basically an omniversal landfill, but importantly even memories and moments in time can end up there, frozen in ice. Wee Jas is said to walk the sheet of Ocanthus, the lowest level of Acheron, searching for lost memories of magical power or dying moments, so lets say a spell were to completely be forgotten, it could potentially end up there, and if so there is potential for Wee jas to find it.
Mormhaor’Sykelor particularly intrigues me, I found that “mormhaor” is elven for “undead” but regardless of how much I look into it I can find no mention of anything either language or lore related when it comes to “sykelor” or even abbreviations of it, but based of the common name supposedly being “the killing storm” I can only begin to imagine how “undead” may directly be related to the spell itself, it could even be a widespread curse of sorts given how vague what we know is. Truly fascinating.
N’qioe’khaaor sounds like how tharizdun (3.5) was banished! I played an evil dnd game as a cleric of thatizdun. “The wheel turns, he begins at the end, he ends at the beginning and he will turn again” lol. I love he is now only a warlock entity, foolish mortals. They never changed the lore about why aboleths despise their once and former god…. one question? Why??
I have always played that Half Elves are disliked by fullbloods because they are essentially a lost soul. The soul that resides in the Half Elf is a true Elven soul that has been reincarnated many times in an ancient lineage. Now that it inhabits a halfbood, that soul is forever lost to the Elven people and will never be reincarnated again. Essentially each Half Elf is a soul plucked from the well of Arvandor, forever leaving a dead end where all other Elvish souls continue for eternity through life and afterlife and life again forever. All of the possible future Elvish lifetimes of that particular soul are snuffed out, potentially severed bond of love or family or dooming the noble soul of a hero to utter oblivion. Half Elves are literally doomed souls stolen from the past and future of the Elven race, and the Elves hate them for it.
For those wondering the source for elven high magic, it is detailed in the AD&D 2nd edition sourcebook Cormanthyr: Empire of Elves. This details elven high magic rituals and the changes to magic for the elves after the fall of Netheril as this was not the same for humans. The other sources that contain information on this type of magic are also from the same edition Fall of Myth Drannor (contains a 10th level spell), Netheril: Empire of Magic (contains 10th, 11th, and 12th level spells), and Secrets of the Magister (details the limitation on casting 10th level magic for humans). In addition, true magic (more powerful than 9th but weaker than 10th level magic) was also available in the same setting with the rules found in Dungeon Masters Option: High-Level Campaign. Also from the same setting, the dwarves had rune magic with some of the runes being almost as powerful as some elven high magic.
Honestly I’d set the bindings to like “The one who knows the last digit of pi must yell out the entirety of pi while not being capable of doing so.” I mean yeah, it could probably be something nigh impossible, but not actually impossible, then that wouldn’t be a valid binding. If that’s the case…. It could be something like: “Only when an entity or entities capable of easily killing the imprisoned entity (like, forever forever) and have the unquenching desire to do so, will the imprisoned one be unbound and its true form teleported to where the entity to do the killing finds most convenient in the pursuit of killing the recently unbound entity.
RE: N’Quor’Khaor Sounds suspiciously like what happened to Tharizdun…although that implies there’s a way to free him. RE: Half-Elves Could it be that a half-elf only has half the soul of an elf? like when a half-elf comes into existence half of an elf soul goes into the body and the other half just chills out in Arvandor or inhabits another half-elf? and then when the half-elf/half-elves die their soul gets reunited and goes back into the cycle?
fun fact: I have a homebrew setting that has the god of destruction and chaos, which used to have another name but is now known only as Rancor, bound by that binding spell, and the only way to unlock it is for the god to manage to manifest an avatar of their will out on the physical plane and convince them to come to the site of the god’s binding, then sacrifice themselves (they have to do it themself, not have someone else kill them)
That binding spell and the sub-dimensional prison it sends them to sounds very familiar to the Vestiges summoned by the Binder class in The Tome Of Magic in 3.5 edition. It would also make a lot of sense that the binders are pulling the powers of entities from that same place because of the implication that puts on Deities, and why clerics and paladins regularly work to keep them a secret and also hunt them. Binders would probably some of the people closest than any other to being able to figure out how to release them.
And here I was under the impression that the 12th level spell Karsus’s Avatar was the most powerful spell. You learn something new every day. I do have a question, what’s different between high magic and standard magic other than elves being the only casters of high magic? Also, is there a way for any non-elf to use high magic?
Their super OP pls nerf binding ritual has one Hell of a tendency of either being broken, or of having their method of breaking it a LOT more possible than they think. For instance, for the purpose of the spell, in the example given, it may or may not count half elves descended from an Elven mother, or half dwarves from a drawrven mother. Likewise, true polymorph may or may not qualify, as might any elf who underwent that one ritual of solitude, if for some reason they chose to turn into a human or a dwarf. Another very infamous example is that time they bound three daemons above Myth Dranor, under the condition of a red dragon who never knew greed nor malice flying over the throne. In which scenario, a red dragon spliced with blue dragon genes and turned lawful good as an egg was enough to qualify, despite not technically being entirely a red dragon. I’d originally learned of this story through a comment / reply, but I honestly can’t remember who said it. I’d later looked it up and both a sourcebook from 3.x and the wiki confirmed it (though I had initially assumed it was just the prison spell with an extremely lax DM, as none of the sources even suggested it was high magic.. Which reminds me. What’s even the difference between this and prison, except the scale of those who can be trapped? And is mazing a variation on this, or prison, or its own thing?).
I ran an alternate D&D world campaign where elves were literally incapable of sleep, and brought this up multiple times as a HELLISH curse. Literally they will be conscious from the moment they are born until the moment they die. Get a concussion that would normally knock someone out? Oh, you aren’t UNCONSCIOUS, you’re just lying there feeling like you’re paralyzed as your body tries to handle the head injury. One of the antagonists was an elf who was only able to trance with about 95% effectiveness, and she was half insane from sleep deprived brain damage. It was an interesting twist on “elves don’t sleep” that the players had a lot of fun with.
The binding spell can only be unlocked by the person bound by it. and the place they need to be to undo it is out of their reach. Or make it so one of the three entities that is capable of breaking the spell is the only being who can unlock the spell, so effectively nobody can undo the spell except for the three beings who were already able to break it regardless.
Elaorman “Place from all Around and Nowhere, Home of Summoning”. High Magic Archmages: “WE SHALL CREATE A GLORIOUS CASTLE BY SACRIFICING OURSELVES AFTER CENTURIES OF STUDY AND LEVEL UP!!” Elsa: *laughs in Let it go* “Hold my nonsensical Disney ice magic” *creates a high quality render of a cozy castle made of brrrrrr magic*
So….depending on whether or not certain things can happen. A scenario could be 1. Make a cult of death’s sleep 2. Form a couple of high magic casters 3. Make them learn clone 4. Kill them over and over 5. Make A LOT of flesh golems over many years 6. Since these golems have memories of high wizards, teach them language and magic 7. Kill death god 8. Profit Biggest gap would be if a golem could learn magic, but they do have souls and are alive so I guess they could.
I didn’t really get much of a picture of what the killing storm does, I can go and do research on the high moor now to fill in the gaps, but it would have been nice to have some more explanation or even supposition on what the spell does. Making one part of the world into uncultivated land doesn’t seem all that powerful in comparison to binding and shattering avatars of gods. But hey really cool article overall
Theory: N’Quor’Khaor might be based directly on the spellwork used to bind and trap Tharizdun. Imagine, 333 entities using god-level power to cast a spell like this to bind and trap another god. The spell sounds very similar to that. A spell even Asmodeus was in on during the casting apparently, along side the likes of Mystra and Tyr. Thats how serious a threat Tharizdun was. And this spell sounds like it based off of that to some degree.
So I ran a campaign where the players are trying to free Kartoolmak the Kobold god from his imprisonment at the hands of Garl Glittergold, and I used the super binding spell as the basis for it and the players needed to find a way to undo the binding spell then go through the efforts of undoing the binding spell which ended a year ago after running the campaign for 5 years strait when the players finally released Kartoolmak in the next game we played I had Kobolds be a more common race and be a more peaceful one at that
If we’re using non-statted spells in all of D&D lore like the Killing Storm (which may or may not have created the High Moor), then IMO the Twin Cataclysm from the early days of D&D from Gygax’s Greyhawk campaign setting easily trumps a mere kingdom destroying spell. The Invoked Devastation didn’t even leave ruins and transformed an empire into the Dry Steppes. While the Rain of Colorless Fire ended the Suel, burning even rock to ash and created the Sea of Dust.
So here is a questions for you MrRhexx knowing that Highmagic was limitied to elvish nations, How or where would “human” magic users such as Elminster and such as is be in regards of this. Cause you had mentioned a spell that created cities, constructs and other such wonders out of almost nothing….basically was thinking would the dungeons of waterdeep be in this format?
So…. the banish spell death requirement can be simply avoided by a lich right ? I mean, have 1 of the high mages become lich, he casts the spell, he dies along with all the meat requirements and then he comes back cuz he has a philactery and he can just do it all over again untill there are no more gods available.
First, I thank you for these articles, they are great and I love this kind of content. But is there any way you could note the source material quote something? There are many things you do articles on that I would love to read deeper on for my own lore-building, but these books can get rather pricey, so I have to be selective in my purchases.
Looks over at my Restriction spell i have Created for a campaign I’m working on, i thought this was evil but that god Sealing spell is even more Stupid (the spell of restriction is a level less spell (not following the levels system though definitely 10 or higher If put into it) The spell was created by the leader of the BBEK (big bad evil Kingdom) who calls himself the god king and it has two components the Release Condition and the Restriction(the effect which must Restrict the Target) The king has applied 3 restrictions upon himself 1, to be within the kingdoms borders at all time and his magic is limited by how close he is to his throne (the closer the more he has access to) 2 all Engraved with a specific rune shall be able to access a portion of his power 3 that those Engraved with the rune shall have the following restrictions applied to them Except the God king whom Created this Rune ” 1,all power,Skill, Knowledge, Strength and Understanding are to be shared with all those Bound with the sigil which shall Grow as they use this Gift More Except the god King (true name here I haven’t decided on a name) 2 that during the night of the new world Festival of ascension they’re to confess their Truth before Ending themselves, 3 any attenpts to circumvent bypass or otherwise Escape this 3 fold Spell of Restriction shall be Punished by the auto casting of an additional spell of restriction and those bound by this restriction have the following exit Conditions to die and merge with the God King during the Eclipse after Confessing their wishes and desires for the god king to here” With a 3 fold release Condition 1.
There is a meditation technique that humans can do instead of sleeping in the real world. There is a rare illness that can prevent humans from being able to sleep. Usually this illness is fatal. However about some years ago one individual who suffered from this illness developed a meditation technique to allow his mind to rest and recover. This technique is now taught to individuals who suffer from this illness to be used place of asleep. It works.
12:54 tell it to FLORA & FUNGUS as it is not a life-form but a conduit & conductor each. Note the biology each sort denotes to aid or neutralize. That being said a grand-tree or forest of them as well as simple mud (this means the mud is entirely lacking in remains or the living for that matter..) can bind any & all beings who have molested in any-way.
Late to the party but something curious I felt still needed to be asked; Why was N’Quor’Khaor (The Banishing/Binding spell) not used on either Cronus or Tharazdun (or both)? Seems that it could have successfully accomplished required said goal? Now, Kurlemak’s little trickery spell is pretty inventive but would not this spell have worked even better? You mentioned it could be used on Lathander. Regardless, another great vid my friend, thanks much! 🙂
Wish cannot break the divine seal? Challenge accepted. I wish for a crystal ball that contains the easily accessible knowledge of how to undo the divine seal on (insert bound god here) within my lifetime, extended or natural. Probably not how the wish spell works at all, but if that’s an actually possible wish to make, then that’s one possibility to overcome such a seal considering that the description of the divine seal clearly states that there has to be a method to undo the imposed seal on whatever deity is bound.
I thought in their meditation, Elves do experience dream-like states? : o Question: How do you target the desired God in order to banish them? Like…do they have to be in sight or on the same realm? So they need to be summoned then? What if what get’s manifested at your summoning is not the god itself but an avatar/a duplicate? ..I reckon it won’t work then.
You just know a genocidal knife-ear is going to try that Storm Erosion spell on some major human cities while their thot of a queen sits on her hands. Edit: Wait what if the high mages for the banishing, binding outside of the people’s lands spell are liches? They don’t have any life force any more and they have phylacteries.
N’Quor’Khaor the Banishing may not thematically be breakable by any but the strongest magic gods… but I do like the idea of having it be breakable by a high magic ritual spell performed by multiple gods and including the sacrifice of at least one of the gods. Increase the cost based on the power level of the god that has been binded. Possibly even go further and make it cost not just a god’s willing sacrifice but the freely given sacrifice of that god’s clerics, paladins and other divinely blessed mortal or otherworldly beings that follow and worship that god. Imagine something like Isis giving up her life and her priest’s lives in order to free Osiris from the coffin made to bind him. Or for another existing myth; akin to the attempts to revive Baldur by Freya when she went and got all living beings (every last plant, animal, virus, fungus, etc.) to mourn Baldur; well, except Loki… so he stays dead sadly. In the same vein could have not just the prophesised release mechanism but a similarly grand ask like having every creature mourn a being’s absence or having an entire race of creatures give their lives or similar.
as long as any kingdom stands? f that, lets make it even more impossible. “As long as no spawn are sired by the strongest of gods, and then lost to a mortal hand, thus wept by their mourning father, this binding shall not fail” I really want to see the DM that makes a campaign where the times of trouble happen again and AO literally loses someone like that, or the opposite maybe. It’s literally a full retcon of canon lol.
Lore: Not a spell cast at 12th level, not a wish, not a myriad spell with 12 high mages, not even the gods, no kind of magic, can break these chains. Barbarian: The cutting bit of how me axe cuts through chains ain’t magical. DM: No, that’s not how it works. Nothing can break these chains. Barbarian: Nah, you said no magic can break it. Holds up axe Not magic. DM: These chains have literally 2000 hitpoints. Bear totem barbarian: Do they fight back? Nah, don’t answer that, don’t matter me none. Like me ma always said, any problem can be fixed by applying an axe to it. If it don’t, get bigger axe. If it still don’t, rinse and repeat till it does. DM: Angry silence Angry flipping through the lore on these bindings Fine, you break the chains. You ignore the specific requirements to undo the seal by doing the one thing the ancient high elves apparently overlooked. The god has been unleashed, and it ain’t the kind to be grateful. Roll initiative.
I’d like to know if the aboleth go to Nessus when they die and get their souls fed on. Also about that being that dumped the first aboleth off on the world. Blood queen I think? Also where the hell did she come from or go way back then? I’m certain I got that from Rhexx’s article but I suppose it might’ve been AJ if I’m wrong… Never looked into realmspace. Dont get the naming of the ships either. Curious about the other worlds and the while node thing with the crystal spheres. Is the paths and nodes made up of the weave itself in an altered, physical form acting as a binding and grounding in reality for the worlds to exist? The unsubstantial and toned down mana being what exists within the eggs/spheres that the beings and monsters use themselves. Which then if that’s or something like that is the case makes me wonder about Mystra. When she died did it affect the other planets in that sphere and what about other spheres? Is she actually not the great goddess of magi. And merely the one of that world or that sphere. That theres a greater one at Ao’s level? I dont know enough obviously so I can only make up stuff like this.
You should do a article about Epic spell casting, Seeing as it doesn’t follow the rules of normal 0-9th level spell casting nor does it exactly follow the rules of Elven high magic, it is some what of an in between, everything possible with Elven high magic should be possible with Epic magic Although epic spell casting could have extremely weak and simple spells you must be extremely knowledgeable in the ways of magic, religion, or nature to even have the capacity to cast these spells, as your number of spell slots is directly tied to you skill level in knowledge nature, magic, and religion. You get 1 spell slot per 10 ranks of each, and you have to be a 21st level caster and have a character level of over 20 to even be able to learn this magic. The power a spell can wield was limited only by the persons knowledge in spell crafting, and the more complex a spell was the for difficult it would be to cast, quickly making powerful spells much to complex for an individual caster to perform. This meant the often times many spell caster would work together to cast the spells. This would allow them to share the stress of the spell and meant that the more caster involved the less spell crafting knowledge was required to control the magic, allowing lesser mages to work together to perform more powerful magic. There are many condition the mages could change to alter the difficulty of the spell they were trying to perform, they could make the spell take longer to cast, or have it drain experience point from the casters or cause magic backlash damage to their bodies, among many other things, but they were able to perform spell entirely outside of the normal spell level system, these spells could even create true breeding life.
My DM let us cast avatar of karsus as a way to defeat baal. The god of murder was replaced and my wizard became the god of Sacrifice, selflessness and bonds. Long story short, the whole party gave up their mortal lives and souls to power the spell being they weren’t pure casters. Mystra allowed it because bhaal was trying to murder the other gods. Now when a mortal gives up their lives for their friends, I welcome them into my gleaming towers to swap stories, eat well, and sleep plenty, for they have earned their rest.
… wait if 5:00 that spell returns everything related to civilization into its natural order, does that mean it includes not just manmade stuff but also things that arent “natural” but supernatural, and even manufactured elven stuff, like say a hollow tree turned into a house or one of those tree houses that are grown from seedlings with magic? what about if a wizard is casting a spell that had components while the spell is casting or active, or while the wizard is maintaining concentration on a spell? shouldn’t all those count as pertaining to the concept of civilization?
Alter Reality is not magic and many gods can use it. Because High Magic doesn’t have divine rank backing, even a lesser god should be able to simply alter reality out of any binding. Also, there is the matter of precognition, most gods can see into the future related to their spheres of influence and will likely murder anyone who tries to bind them. As far as high mages not being able to use their own health… Polymorph Dusk Giant begs to differ. Turning lakes into dustbowls and setting the air on fire… sounds like Dark Sun.
My fan fic idea is a dragon age/forgotten realms/dark sun crossover where the forgotten realms part is taken place during the Elven Crown wars!!! and the Dark sun part is going to be used as a brief visit and lesson on the price for reckless magic use, I have two main characters, Cremisius”Krem” Aclassi from Dragon Age Inquisition and a golden Elf princess who I’m thinking will have some influences from one of the seven daughters of Mystra aka the “Seven Sisters” from Forgotten Realms >_> it’s more of a love story ^_^ yeeah i’m kinda a romance whore, fight me! >_
Leomund’s Secure Shelter was a pretty fun non combative spell. Mind you I’m still salty over the whole Mystral no more epic magic finger wagging ‘how dare you do this thing’ bullshit when the gods could have gone ‘OK we’ll get rid of this threat, but in exchange you have a century in which we will slowly reorganize magic because you’re fucking the weave over with all your flying mountain bullshit.’
8:57 N’Quor’Khaor and make the key be incredibly elaborate THEN cast SEVERAL Wishes that the key indecipherable, constantly sabotaged or can’t be recorded in any way. Maybe another Wish so that the memory of whatever is being binded is either scrambled or is just gone for good, even from the pantheon. If it’s a god, not only being forgotten will immediately “kill” them, but also vanishing them for good with an unsolvable key will just E N D them. Imagine a campaign to end all gods? Of course, Ao, Mistra, Korolon and the one above them will not be able to be touched, but I wonder what they’d have to say. Especially with the gods having proved they’ve always acted childishly. Also being taken care of so efficiently… I realize this is basically impossible but story-wise, STORY-WISE… Imagine. Start a campaign, only 3 gods have ever existed… or so they say. Then you visit a space where all the old gods have been banished and realize the truth of what the BBEG has done during Epochs. Somehow always coming back to continue this pattern, like Madara.
the strongest spells were described in the reverse dungeon module, and they were just copies of the originals, and despite the fact that they have part of the power of the original, they destroyed everything in range without the possibility of saving throws and magic resistance and any defense, these are weakened versions spells Invoked devastation and a rain of colorless fire, the probability of learning them is 35%, and they literally burn out the life of the caster, these spells don’t even have damage listed, they just destroy everything in their radius, this spell has no stats, just pure destruction
Hey Rhexx? In terms of Arcana and Spellcraft checks used to identify/understand the N’Quor’Khaor ritual, what DC check difficulty would you rate it at? What DC would you need to understand the mechanics of such a spell, in your opinion? Asking cause I already have ideas for my campaign but I would like other opinions on some of the finer details and numbers.
Half-Elves reincarnating WOULD fix the population paradox a direct reincarnation culture would face. If Elves exclusively reincarnate, the population would be limited by the number of Elf Souls, and once every soul has a body, either no more Elves could be born, or they would be born without souls. A constant influx of NEW Elf souls, through Half-Elves, would enable the Elf population to expand beyond their original finite population, possibly separating Elves into those High Elves who can trace their souls to the beginning, and all other Elves, who’s souls are of Half-Elf origin. (This is how I answered this in Lore in my campaign settings)
Quick wake up. You must flee. The buildings on fire!! Quick go now. You head to the hallway Roll perception You notice a room. With flames bursting out. A man of much wealth was struggling there. 8 guards stationed. They searched your room the night before for any signs of you wanting him dead. (Flee) (investigate) Flee: you make it outside and the guards immediately tackle you and blame you for the death. You’re loaded onto a prisoner wagon with (insert. Number of payers) (Investigates) you grab a bucket of water and bust the door in. Hurl the bucket bucket towards flames. You see a book burning and grab it. A wizard of exalted status is burning but his throat is cut and head smashed. This was an assassination. Noticing the corner you a small plant shrivel and die magically in Seconds. The room erupts in an explosion of flames as the dried corn sacks downstairs ignite. You fall in the collapsed building. Only to wake up in jail noun bound caught by others. A guard noticing your cell mate awaken he grabs her/him and lifts em up. Tell us who paid you why did you do it? (Player responds) (All other players roll stealth) Noticing others awake they begin the interrogation. Hours go by and they all want to know how (the players) know if the death storm spell. The top general makes an appearance calling yall terrorist. Saying you fight in the war for the other side. Saying the other side has the death storm and plans to use it. It’s an arms race and you caused them to lose. The beginning of a campaign.
I see SO MANY WAYS to use, abuse, manipulate and bypass these spells requirements and blocks. Say for example my pc is of the highest level, and basically orochimaru as a chaotic neutral megalomaniac, and I journey to the realm of the gods themselfs and demand the information of the highest and most powerful spells aswell as access to said spells, else I will eternally seal you in another dimension using 20 pounds of ants, several orbs that assist in casting, and my philiactory, with a fundamentally impossible task to break the binding Ex: the only way for this binding to be broken is for you to no longer be bound. That being said if you still refuse I will use karsus’s avatar and take it by force. Do not resist for I have thought of every possibility, my philactory is another lich who also has a philactory and so on, for about 100 scattered and strategically placed. Now then. Give me the information or taste my ambition.
Easier way to bind one of the greater gods with millions of followers. Step 1: get an amulet of proof against detection and location. Now the god can’t know where you are or what you’re doing because it protects you from all divination magic. Step 2: mass genocide. now the god has fewer than 1,000 followers and coudn’t stop you because of the amulet. Step 3: do the spell but it costs less HP because they’re just a lesser god now.
