Changes to spells in Pathfinder require focusing on them during the entire rest period. It is not possible to cast a cure spell while resting, change it to a different spell in the middle of resting, and then have the new spell ready when you are done resting. Each prepared spell is expended after a single casting, so if you want to cast a particular spell more than once in a day, you need to prepare that spell multiple times. Clerics do not need to sleep, but they prepare their spells.
The number of spells you can prepare is called your spell slots. As you increase in level as a wizard, your number of prepared spells increases. Full Spellcasting means having access from level 1 to level 9 spells. Full Divines get to merge with Angel, so Cleric, Oracle, Shaman, and Druid, while Full Arcanes get to merge with Full Divines.
A wizard who has specialized in a school of spells gains a +2 bonus on the Spellcraft check if the new spell is from their specialty school. Sorcerers learn spells a level later than wizards or (spell level)2. For Bards, Magi, and Eldritch Scoundrels, it’s (spell level)2.
With many of the best spells in the game and a practically limitless list of known spells, you can be and do most anything in the game. On top of your spells, you can also restore spells and skills. Good deities do so at dawn, while evil deities do so at dusk or midnight.
In Pathfinder, spells are prepared in a specific spell slot, which is expended when the spell is cast. Cantrips occur when spells are cast, and if the check fails, the wizard cannot understand or copy the spell. All casting classes and dedications gain the ability to regain a limited number of spell slots during their refocus activity, just like focus points.
