My favourite cards are actually RNLI cards. I am someone who wants to learn card mechanics, rather than someone that performs them (a riffle shuffle is the best I’ve got so far) so I can’t speak necessarily for their quality. But they are plain and simple designs. Clear and standard faces. And looks so satisfying. But for me it’s also a nostalgia because growing my family played a lot of cards, camping and at home. And when away my dad would always take me to the RNLI ports and museums etc. And we would always buy the RNLI playing cards. And my family always plays with the RNLI ones. So they hold a very special place in my heart.
I think my favourite card deck is the Cyberpunk Bicycle Blue card deck. I just really like the attention to detail in the faces and the backs, but my favourite part of the cards is that the face cards and the jokers are themed to look as though they live in a cyberpunk society! I’m not really sure what deck I like the best, but l love a deck I don’t give a shit about. That way I can focus more on learning sleight of hand and not be worried about bending, tearing, or just messing up the deck I general. Also it allows me to have more fun with a deck or cards, and that’s what really matters
Hmmm top 5 is tough, these aren’t in any order although the last on the list might just be my favourite Momento Mori (the “First” ones you showed would be my favourite Chris Ramsey deck had he not already put this one out. Non traditional and not simple, not sure you’d like them as much as the First decks but I agree that the tropical looking one is my favourite of those decks) Madison Rounders Black (just so clean and simple and feel great) Purple Monarchs (I like Monarchs and purple is my favourite colour, they feel nice to shuffle and look like the cards used in most movies, colour excluded) Cherry Purple (I agree with liking simple designs and once again, favourite colour) Hidden Wonders Elegant Edition (Sean Farquars cards, they were a limited run as were the Scarlet Edition that nearly made this list)
My current favorite decks are the Aspectu: Early Sunset, The Gilded Butterfly playing cards(gold and silver) and Verts Winter Fall. Bicycle(USPCC) has also made some interesting decks recently like the Stargazer, Stargazer Nebula and Dark Mode. While I’m just an amateur I always have a deck at hand for when I’m waiting on a build or stucking in a meeting and I now have a cassette holder on my wall that holds 100 decks.
You got me. I’m a obsessive collector. I collect something until I have a collection worthy of discussing with serious collectors in said field. Some I take super far some I just do basics. But it’s just a thing I have been doing for decades and now I have dozens of collections some that are worth serious money. Though I’ll never sell anything. But … That being said I have never considered playing cards as a collectible but I just sort of get decks I think are cool when I see them. Now you opened my eyes to this world and there is no going back. Here goes the next 1-3 years of my life learning everything there is to know while collecting a good chunk of decks ! 🤦♂️
Hey man – hope you read this, but where did you get that pad from? Did you get it custom made? If so, is it normal neoprene with a felt top? Every pad I have tried is too small for my workspace, or a weird size whereby it bangs up on my keyboard and makes it wonky. Looking for something like a massive mousepad they did back in the day where everything just fits on top of it.
Of the decks that you use, I like the cobalt bicycle cards. Of the decks of cards I have, it’s a 99% gold foil deck. Shuffles easily, but fans a little difficult. But it’s still my favorite. I’ll DM you a picture of it on Instagram. Love your tricks and decks. I can understand you preferring the standard look of cards.

I agree with you on the faces. Standard faces, ya’ll. Or at the very least: simple and easy to read at a glance. When you got all kinds of weird background designs on the face, it just gets confusing! And since we’re sharing favorite cards… I’m going to lament the seeming passing of my go-to cards: the Copag 303. Apparently their parent company bought USPC and they’re discontinuing their own brand. Otherwise, I really like the Arch Angels from Bicycle & Theory 11. Simple and elegant.
Ok Jason, I am not nearly as adept with cards as you so I cheat and use my favorite Bicycle Rider back marked stripper deck. I also like the deck I got when I saw Piff the magic dragon live. He created the deck and threw in a bunch of gimmick cards as well. Like two pieces of bread that can sandwich a selected card. “How sick is that Baby?”

I live in India and premium decks are pretty hard to get hence curently my favourite cards are midas playing cards. I think its the only pokar size indian deck . Are stones not cards😂 I have tested all and best in my opinion are Theory 11, Tally 23, and David Blaine cards ( brand producer is different like quality). There are others good but far from these. Costs are very high Except for the Theory 11. Performance are very different and skill is required because are not for beginners especially David Blaine ones!🎉
