Have to say, you opening packs while just talking to the camera off the top of your head has become my favourite kind of pack opening articles that you make. Of course, this wouldn’t work with a box of play boosters as it already takes some time to go through them even without that, but just take this as encouragement to make more of those pack opening articles (when you want to make them, that is).
I have to say, I’ve been surprisingly pleased with Duskmourn. I went into it with no real expectations but I think it’s become my favorite set of the year. The theming is actually quite fun and even more than that, the cards themselves are spectacular – there’s so much in this set I’ve gotten between prerelease, a draft, a box, and some miscellaneous packs that I’ve really really liked and can’t wait to use in deckbuilds. Kadena in particular got lots of new toys for me to play with and that’s very exciting for me
“Fear of failed tests” flavour adjustment suggestion: It currently draws cards based on combat damage dealt by itself, which doesn’t really feel like a failed test to me. I would rather have it draw cards when something was attempted, but fails. Like casting a spell, only for it to be countered (draw when an opponent’s spell is countered, a number of cards equal to the mana value of the countered card), or when an attack becomes blocked (…equal to the damage dealt to the blocking creature).
If I ever buy a box of magic again, I’m just going to have the mindset that I don’t care of the value and I hope I get cool cards to play cardboard crack with. If I go in with the hope of somehow being able to sell a couple cards and get the value back I’m going to be sad 99% of the times. And that is not fun.
I actually opened my very first box 2 days ago, after 11 years of Magic. My hometown, Helsinki, has this somewhat pricy game/comic/manga store that runs monthly sales of certain older products and a draft box of Zendikar rising was just 81 euros. I got 15 euros from the extra promos they gave me, 32 euros from the topper Scalding Tarn and then about 80 euros from the mythics(foil showcase Omnath ^^), rares and certain uncommons over 1 euro on mcm low..
I bought a box myself this set as I loved the horror themes and references included, but boy howdy. I’d have to admit after the 10th booster I started to reflexively just look at the rare and wild card foil to see what I got, and tossed the rest of the pack in a pile. I hardly got anything interesting in most of my packs. Basically what I’m saying is I miss play boosters 😅
here is a great idea, wotc could have a random “hidden gem” pack slot for a collector booster pack instead of having two products, make it more fun to open play boosters. could be a code/card redemption ticket that could be traded in to lgs or directly to wizards. idk, the idea of just having a fun to open pack of cards with different treatments is nice. set boosters were okay. but with the lack of specialized non foil cards in play boosters does not warrant any increase in prices. only answer=greed
Hey guys, what would you suggest to someone who wants to try to learn and gain an understanding of the Meta, I love perusal the protour but feel kinda lost by the speed and wish I knew the strategies associated with certain deck and the staple cards ect. I’ve been playing arena on and off for a year or so, definitely still very much at the beginners level, but find I do understand the basics of the game. But the meta feels so overwhelming to try and understand and to know where to start, thanks 😁
I was a sucker and bought more mtg today, went to nerd out and watch articles and found the deck I’ve been building to compete in competitive magic is now useless, after being suckered into ixalan in hope of a crypt, pulling one, and a few months later it’s, banned? No, I won’t spend any more! I’m scared to buy now.
I agree the prices are ever higher and higher and I can’t imagine many young middle schoolers getting into MTG so maybe it is a calculated decision to aim ever more and more to the adults willing to spend on themselves. I do feel the art quality is better than ever. I mean the cards we played in the 2002-2006 era are nothing like this. Even my favorite 2017 Amonkhet. It’s not just the card art I feel is more special, it is all the box and promo art making everything feel more special and immersive. I can make an insect deck, cat 🐈 deck, bat deck, now fluffy seemingly cute mouse deck. I don’t love when humanoids are the art unless some sort of creature like vampire, zombie, werewolves. My disappointment with every release is my own sense there should have been more dragons 🐉 included. 😂😂😂 never enough dragons 😅 my only complaint of things and I really like the giant commander cards my eyesight is getting bad 🤓. This Dark horror theme is cool and the wicked toys 🧸 appeal to me most.
Hey prof love the content ik it’s not related but you must be working on a article this being most recent could you tell the community it did a bad with the rules committee and having wizards the profit machine in charge is bad we should be worries we hurt ourselves as a community and acted poorly shamefully terribly even if not individually the number of rage at it articles produced only fed into this and hurt the community more for views I was annoyed at how and the scale of the bans like many but I was getting excited to see the new Metta game shakes out and i can’t stand perusal the community be so terrible ❤ love ya prof
I’m will to accept that I’m just getting old, but the flavor of this set seems inconsistent. It’s like part of set aligns with more traditional MTG, then the other part of the set has baseball bats, cheerleaders, TVs, etc. And even that’s only a fraction of the set, it turns me off to the set as a whole.
