I can safely say that, upon first seeing this article, I expected a pretty by-the-numbers listing and discussion of the new Creations bundled in the Anniversary Upgrade. I did NOT, however, expect a full on E3-styled showcase sporting some of the finest editing and cinematography I’ve ever seen. Congratulations – you’ve single-handedly convinced me to dive back into Skyrim.
Not gonna lie, I wasn’t too interested in anniversary edition. I figured that it wouldn’t be too much new or interesting to experience after 10 years of skyrim. However this article has since filled me with hype I haven’t experienced in many years and I can’t stop thinking about starting my journey in skyrim all over again!
I am always amased at how burns can take a simple Idee and make a cinematic masterpiece out of it. Like this is just a Info article why does it look so gut. Also like how he is realy good at compressing information in a tiny space. Most other youtubers brobably need twice the time to explain everything
Skyrim truly is immortal. Because of the modding community, Skyrim has become about so much more than just the province of Skyrim. It’s like we’re seeing the world of the elder scrolls grow more and more. Eventually, we’ll make it to the elder scrolls 6, but part of me wonders if the ES6 will have Skyrim as a part of it.
They said that for a high-level character there was going to be about 20 hrs worth of new content for a $20 upgrade. My char was L230, and I finished all 74 pieces of it in just under 75 additional hrs. Consequently I have 74 screenshots to prove it as well. This was such a great article! and even though Hendraheim was by far my absolute favorite of the new player homes, Golden Hills Plantation was incredibly useful and a good way to get things started if you are sick of Breezehome and running in Survival. All this time I thought I was a good guy using the Daedra to my own ends, but standing in front of a fully powered Oblivion Gate and feeling right at home… I realized that I am a cultist at heart after all. So of course I restored faith in the Tribunal and can finally call myself the Hand of the Goddess Queen Almalexia. There was so much nostalgia for fans of Morrowind and Oblivion as well as plenty of new stuff. It was well worth it.
I really liked the direction that this article went in, like the order of things that you went to show off. A lot of people like to look cool and that, so showing off the armor was a good way to hook a lot of people into perusal the article. And then finishing off the with the major quest that are new in the game. You did a very good job with everything that there really isn’t anything for me to complain on.
This is extremely impressive man my jaw was dropped from seeing the new content the way you edited it was so perfect you did a great deal of explaining I love it this is awesome thank you I’m subscribing and gonna keep perusal yayou explain everything very well and man you have some insane editing skills
Watching Heavy Burns article always feels like perusal a cinematic masterpiece. The level of detail and efforts in this article are quite magnificent if I do say so myself, it really bring me into the world of Skyrim when perusal this article. The bits and humor of some of the clips are just perfect. Overall, this article brings immersion to a Skyrim cinematic article which I never thought it would be this amazing. Well done Heavy Burns, you did really well on this one
Holy crap. This is on sale on the eShop right now for like $11. I NEED to buy this… unbelievable. I didn’t exactly know HOW MUCH was improved upon and added. CRAZY. Gonna buy this later no doubt. 😀 It’s on sale for like 10 more days y’all… if you wanna get it, do it! Of course, today is 4/4/23 so just keep that in mind!
4 minutes in and I can’t believe how insanely well this article is edited, dude. Your camera work is crazy and your expositions are so clean and organized. A like, subscribe, alert, and kudos to you sir. Amazing job. This armor sets bit starting at 3:30ish with everything laying in the grass is straight up TASTEFUL!
honestly the only thing stopping me from getting creations was the fact the quests and items just popped into your inventory. but now that they are integrated its so much better i added everything bar a few things which i felt were not canon or were too overpowered like the bow of shadows. and only the player homes i was interested in
Hey Heavy, you should make a article that talks about mods that are compatible with AE, as well as mods that enhance AE content. I.e. making the different weapons and armors appear on leveled list in the corrdct factions. Silver armor on silver hand, vigil armor on the vigilants ot stendarr, redguard armor and weapons on redguards, netch leather armor on dunmer, the rest of alternative armors on bandits, mercenaries and other NPCs, etc.
OH!!! MY!!! WORD!!! I was dreading the new AE until I watched your (video doesn’t do it justice, so…) amazing artwork. My son bought AE & installed it on my Steam acct as a surprise before I had a chance to check it out. He didn’t realize it would automatically become entwined with SE, so now I can’t separate them. I was so worried until I saw this. Man, oh man, you should be paid by Beth for this incredible preview!!! I can’t even imagine how much work you put into it. It has real professional quality! Seriously! It could be used as an ad in a cinema! And the best part for me is, now I can’t wait to get into AE, with or without my huge Vortex mod list! Super huge kudos to you, Heavy!! Amazing talent, you have!
Been playing this game since release. The Anniversary Edition is on sale right now and I needed to know what I could expect and if it was worth it… Your article definitely showed that… But so much more. This is probably one of the coolest Skyrim articles I have seen. Having some technical sense and understanding in the behind-the-scenes on how articles like this are put together, I was amazed by the quality of the shots and the audio. This was extremely well done.
Thanks for the overview. Very well done… mostly. One point that seems to be becoming very prevalent lately You aren’t the only U-Toober that does this, rest assured is that when you showcase many of the new armours… It’s too EFFFIN DARK to see anything! Try BRIGHT Sunlight so we can judge what the heck it looks like, not some indistinct silhouette. Currently I am playing one of the Wabbajack modlists so I won’t be updating anytime soon. But I will be once I am done, largely thanks to this article. (I was reluctant until now.
From my experience playing Anniversary Edition: – Farming is OP – Gallows Hall is great, if nothing else than for the Revenant Altar that lets you convert greater/grand soul gems into black soul gems, the Bone Forge that lets you create a follower that doesn’t take up a follower slot, and the Staff of Worms which is a more accessible version of the Dead Thrall spell – The backpacks are an awesome addition, 75 free carry weight plus smaller bonuses depending on which one you use. – Farming is OP – The person who made The Cause put a LOT of work into it. Creating the ayleid ruin tileset by hand must’ve taken a long time, plus they gave modders something new to work with. I much prefer the Daedric Horse summon over Arvak too. – Fishing feels pretty meh? Sure you can get a fishing pole and start fishing at the edge of a body of water, but the same fish you catch can also be found swimming in the water which means you can just dive in and grab them all by hand which is so much faster. – Some of the new houses are pretty strong, some of which require little to no effort on your part to obtain and is fully furnished. Myrwatch comes to mind. Just unlock the door and boom, free house that’s got tons of goodies inside plus a staff enchanter. Kind of makes the vanilla houses, including the Hearthfire homes, pointless in my opinion. After all, why spend tens of thousands of coin building a customizable house and decorating it when you can get a handful of cheap or free houses that all offer the same benefits minus the customization?
Superb. Just bought the Anniversary upgrade to my SE. A natural salesman 😉 I once put through over 400 in the tills working at PetsMart. Despite being warehouse. I had a lot of knowledge of keeping tropical fish, gecko, lovebirds, cockatiel, chinchillas, zebra finches and much more. Ironically the manager never even asked me if I had kept animals etc when I went for the job. Put it down to natural experience. If your passionate about what you love and absorb info then it’s easy to ‘tell people’ like here
Great article, frend! Not only is it a great showcase of the new features of SAE, but it is produced with such great editing and the quality of a high tier movie studio. Also your modded Skyrim looks so fantastic that one might think it is Skyrim 2 🙂 This should be the official Bethesda presentation article for SAE. Great job!
Great article! Super incredible! Thanks for highlighting most of the cool stuff (somehow you left out the arcane Archer and arcane accessories packs). My favorite was finding out you can do an arena from the buttercup Quest and knowing you can visit an Ayelid Ruin in The Cause! 🤩😍 Thanks for highlighting the cool stuff. I just got the anniversary edition on switch and this makes me very happy MUCH MORE happy that I DID get it!
Just found out about the game/DLC today. Thanks for the review as the Switch description and wiki was less than forth coming on what would be added. Defiantly gonna get it. On a side note, as a Khajit main and fan of Khajit lore, I’m severely disappointed a Khajit themed add-on wasn’t included. The Khajit and Argonians need more love.
When I first saw the announcement for the anniversary edition I only saw them advertising fishing and I was like “Why buy another version just for fishing?” But after 7 months and finally stumbling across this article actually detailing all the cool stuff in the game I really wish I had gotten it. It would have been cool if they released this on the Switch since my computer is too outdated to handle Skyrim
I still remember by very first DLC purchase….it was oblivion on OG xbox and I got that stupid horse armor lol…I only got it because I gathered xbox points which can be used to buy DLc for free so I got that for the heck of it lol but after that I got the other DLCs like shivering isles and the others…it melted be gaming for weeks lol
I already have Skyrim on Xbox One, with desired mods – if the game asks me to upgrade to this version of the game, do I lose my mods> Are my existing mods compatible just as I had used them before? Because of this question, I am reluctant to get this upgraded version of the game. Can anyone clarify????
I wish they could fix some OP stuff like not being able to create potions that makes you created potions stronger so you drink it and then craft stronger effect of it, then drink and craft even more powerfull and reepat that so many times as you want, then create potion that increase armor and weapon upgrading skills of % of it, and now create or upgrade your armor or weapon to make several times stronger than you should be able to do. That was the biggest issue in the game. Also with new armors I would like to see transmutation option to make your end game armor look the way you like.
Man I’ve been putting off AE edition for so long solely bc I have SE on PC. (So you understand). However for awhile now I’ve been on my ps5 a lot more so maybe I’ll buy Skyrim.. again.. to mod and play for endless hours…. Once again. This article definitely helped and played a big part in my getting it, so thanks my guy
Here’s the thing while you are traversing through the game plenty of missions have bugs because I myself experienced many leaving me no option but to play the special edition instead one bug particularly is the mission of Killing Miraak where if you already clear each chapter of the Apocrypha before Frea ask you to avenge her father’s death the dragon will not appear and you will not be able to kill Miraak
What i thought of the article? Breathtaking cinematography expert editing and outstandingly informative and helpful overall This is by far the best most concise and new playthrough inspiring article I’ve seen on the skyrim content update period everyone in these comments saying Bethesda needs to just pay you their advertising budget is absolutely right im totally buying all of this content to explore and it has everything to do with your awesome content creation and nothing to do with the awful confusing and unenlightening descriptions the actual creation club shop offers… almost as if they’re actually afraid to show you enough of the coolness to entice you to purchase it well done you have earned a new subscriber in me and you deserve so much more for your talent and passion keep up the awesomeness
Absolutely love the work. But I will note some stuff is definitely missing 😅…. No mention of stuff like boots of blinding speed, dwarven drone fly, and quite a few other things. Lots, really. This is probably maybe around 80% of the stuff that’s new? But also damn, the quality on this cinematically is amazing.
Thank you for this. Now I’m hooked, it will be the first game I buy when I get a new pc. But I have a question. I’ve seen your modding articles for modding. Was that done on the anniversary addition? If not will I be able to mod the anniversary addition from your recommendations? Thank you again for your articles they are helpful.
What is the robe shown at 8:55 called, the one where the character is wielding a green looking spell? And how do I acquire it? I recently got the new Anniversary Edition upgrade on my switch and so far it’s playing very well. No lag, no glitches, no bugs. And I usually play a Vampire themed character that uses Dark Magic and goes on all the Daedric Quests. I would very much like those robes. The Grimoire robes are cool, the skull mask is a very nice touch. But I like the Evil Elegant tone of the robes shown immediately at 8:55. So any help on the name and location would be most appreciated. The normal Necromancer robes in Vanilla Skyrim are very lack luster in my opinion. It’s essentially just a reskin of the normal base black robes but with a skull on the chest. They look like peasant robes tbh. The one shown at 8:55 looks amazing.
For Necromancer wannabee builds just make sure you visit asap the Ritual Stone. There is a spellbook there regardless of your level called Undying Ghost. The Undying Ghost’s battle power depends on how much magicka you have. The higher your magicka, the more powerful UG is. The UG is so good early to late game. Just conjure him up and let let him do the work. So increase your magicka every level up. What I did was up to level 11 I train my Health, 12 to 31 Magicka, 32 to 41 Health and 42 upwards will be spent on Magicka. I played this on Legendary and on Survival.
If it really is random, then drop a save in front of the vendor selling the tomes, hit them until they turn aggressive, then reload the save. Their inventory will be reset. Also a necromancer build would benefit quite a bit from going through the Dawnguard DLC on the vampire side as one of the Volkihar vendors sells healing spells that work on undead.
To get the spells I just would quick save and buy the new spells I didn’t get. Hit Phinis Gester until I got a bounty, then yielded and loaded back to the quick save. Checked his inventory. And It resets with different spells. Not always but sometimes I would find the new spells. Also waiting 24 hours is something I did occasionally but idk how much that affected anything.
I found the masked robe just today at Yngvild throne room near dawnstar you’ll fight a necromancer Who is wearing the no mask version one and there will be a small room with a chest and Table the masked version is on the table My character is only level 19 at that point so it doesn’t seem to be a level item
Okay, not too bad, they made it so you can at least summon two things at a time. I had a mod (kiss that goodbye), that enabled me to summon multiple undead. It was governed by how high my summon skill was under conjuration. It’s been awhile, but it worked like….novice I could have 1, adept I could have 3, master was like 5. And that can get increased even further but getting the last ability. In any case, hopefully they do something like that in the future. A necromancer needs to be able to have a constant, or at least semi constant army of undead with him at all times.
If you play around with fortify restoration glitch and don’t go over board but I manage to get 114 faster health Regen and I disenchanted the runic robes for empower necromancy I gain plus one min on all summons which is pretty handy on legendary it allowed me to survive crowded rooms it take like 10 to 15 hit from any enemy will kill me beside giants it like 5 unless they power attack then I’m flying and the health Regen isn’t that great
I can tell you which part of Skyrim to look for if you want that robe as I have both of them already! So when you reach college of winterhole take that long path as you arrive. So stay on that road until you hit a bandit camp! It’s on the right and you get a pet! You’ll see a run down fort and the necromancer is on that fort. There’s only two!!!
GLITCH HUNTERS’ SPECIAL You may already know this, but With bone colossus you can have 3 additional summons Here’s the thing though, and I imagine a glitch can be done here: when you summon a fourth, only the colossus gets despawned. Leaving you with 4 non-colossus minions. I want to see if we can find a way, (besides the ritual stone) to squeeze out some more summons Where are the glitch hunters at?
Hey Jade, quick question in case you feel like testing this: can you pick up and use the arrows shot by the Skeleton Marksman? In the Creation Kit I see they have the ‘playable’ flag enabled, so in theory you should be able to pick them up if they missed and use them yourself (they even have their own name: Skeletal Marksman Arrows, so they should even show up like that in your inventory). However, they don’t have their own recipe for crafting. In case you feel like testing this, I would be interested to know. Thanks for making the article btw.
wow, are you serious? so it is a chance thing that he will have certain new skill books for sale? i have been checking on him since yesterday, and his inventory still doesn’t have conjure bone colossus. my character is lvl 100 on conjuration, and i completed his unique quest. i wonder how many more times i need to check his inventory. can anyone tell me how often Phinis’ inventory renew? thanks!
