In astrology, a dwadasamsa, also known as a dwad, duad, or dwadachamsha, is 1/12 of a zodiacal sign. It was developed by Hindu astrologers who divided the 30 degree sign into 12 equal parts of 2.5 degrees each. The twelfth-parts are used in Western astrology to give additional meaning to the interpretation of an angle or planet in natal astrology, especially the Ascendant degree.
Dodecatemoria, also called a dwadasamsa, dwadachamsha, dwad or duad, is 1/12 of a zodiacal sign and is divided into twelve segments of 2.5 degrees. These segments are ruled by different decans, which provide deeper insights into an individual’s character, strengths, hurdles, and potential directions for their life.
The decanate influence shows the purpose of the sign placement for the individual, while the dwad influence shows the conditions influencing the individual. Each zodiac sign has three decans, which give deeper insight into an individual’s astrological traits. To calculate the duad chart, highlight the natal chart on the first page of Solar Fire, then go to the “Chart” menu, click Vedic, and then Vedic D12 Dwadashama.
A dwad is a mini sign in a sign, stacked in a traditional arrangement. The decanate influence shows the purpose of the sign placement for the individual, while the dwad influence shows the conditions influencing the individual. Each zodiac sign has three decans, providing deeper insight into an individual’s astrological traits.
In conclusion, understanding the significance of dwads, duads, and dodecatemoria can be a game-changer in personal and professional realms. By exploring these astrological charts, astrologers can uncover profound insights into an individual’s character, strengths, hurdles, and potential directions for their life.

May I ask one question? I learned that the “appearance and look ” of wife/husband/partner can be seen by taking into consideration the degree of the descendant and then looking it up in this table, to see which planets fall in. I gotta say that your quick approach makes more sense to me, it’s actually how I used determine such thing. Great article!
Appropriate to the Sun in Virgo🌞♍- and now also I can add after seeing your chart (!)- to your hidden Virgo influence🕵♍😊- the bright mercurial bear in the tree has returned behind you, Viktor!💛🐻🌳😊 P.S.💫 Thanks for sharing your chart by the way- fascinating! Now I know why I vibe your vibe🙌- we have more in common than I realized with our natal chart energy!
Thank you once again Viktor – so appreciate your wonderful guidance to help understand the wheel of our life. I was also wondering, based on your knowledge, if we can break it down by every 5 degrees as 5 x 6 = 30. The first five degrees would be the sign placement and then the next five would be the following sign, etc. So in your chart your beautiful Sun would be in Aquarius (the bringer of waters of life from the heavens for us to drink and live) The 16 degree would then be in Taurus (the earth upon which we build our life upon and which the waters poured down upon it allow for the life to exist) So you have the elements of creation – the Sun, the waters from the Air (Aquarius) the earth (Taurus) That would also explain how you are able to bring the things from the heavens to earth – your astrological knowledge and from that you give life to where there is darkness 🙂 You do that through Venus (ruler of Taurus) which is in Pisces the spiritual compassionate and peaceful sign, and your Venus would then be in Aries meaning you are driven to share this knowledge according to the feminine principle of giving, sharing and nurturing. Your Chiron in Taurus means your message will help people to find healing but also as you give you will also receive healing and guidance back as long as you always give. Chiron is also about unlocking something as glyph is a key so maybe this represents you being unable to unlock the mysteries of the astrology : ) and its trining your Mercury meaning you can bring a message from the gods, maybe in regards to unlocking the mythology of planetary bodies of the sky?
Hi Viktor, am I right in assuming that we should be using the Whole House system? This changes my natal placements as I know them/have become accustomed to, and I want to correctly follow your guide here as you intend and are utilizing, yourself. Thank you for your time and effort, and very much in advance for your response❣️

As per your suggestion, Saturn will not have power of its aspect as well, as it is an extinct planet. As Saturn is Karka for job / Service, so do you think that now Debilitated Saturn Dasha Started so now I will no longer be able to get or be in job / service ? So how should I look at my Saturn Dasha which just started Oct 2015, Last year, as it lasts for 19 long years… ? Kindly throw some light on it ! Shall be obliged.
