Zoe is a mid-lane champion in League of Legends (LoL) who uses her abilities to wave clear minions, sleep, and burst enemies with one smooth combo. She can pick up used enemy summoner spells and item actives, and cast them once for her own. Zoe also gains a burst of movement speed when she casts a summoner spell.
Her primary spells are Flash and Ignite, with Summon Aery providing additional poke and damage. She can cast Spell Thief in place of her own summoner spells if she has either of them as a collected Spell Shard. Zoe can pick up the remnants of enemy summoner spells and active item casts and cast them once herself. Whenever she casts a summoner spell, she gains 3 missiles that fire at the nearest target.
Zoe Mid has a 51.6 win rate and 2.5 pick rate in Emerald + and is currently ranked A tier. Her strengths and weaknesses are detailed in this guide, which covers top, jungle, mid, bot, support roles on ranked solo/duo/flex, aram, and normal blind/draft.
In Patch 14.18, Zoe Mid’s Spell Thief allows her to collect and use Summoner Spells and active item effects dropped by enemy champions or minions, granting her unpredictable utility and playmaking. She can also boost healing spells, such as Diagnosis (and prognosis) and Pneuma, which are only available with GCD heals.
Zoe’s primary spells include Flash Ignite, Flash Teleport, Flash Barrier, and Exhaust. Her abilities include Paddle Star!, Spell Thief, Sleepy Trouble Bubble, and Portal Jump. As an AP mage, Zoe is ready to react when her enemy uses a summoner spell due to her Leblanc-esque max-range burst.

📹 3 Minute Zoe Guide – A Guide for League of Legends
Got 3 minutes spare? Why not take a quick look at how to play Zoe Mid Lane! Zoe is a unique champion with some abilities that …
My Grandfather smoked his whole life. I was about 10 years old when my mother said to him, ‘If you ever want to see your grandchildren graduate, you have to stop immediately.’. Tears welled up in his eyes when he realized what exactly was at stake. He gave it up immediately. Three years later he died of lung cancer. It was really sad and destroyed me. My mother said to me- ‘Don’t ever smoke. Please don’t put your family through what your Grandfather put us through.” I agreed. At 28, I have never touched a cigarette. I must say, I feel a very slight sense of regret for never having done it, because Zoe gave me cancer anyway.
What I don’t get is that even though Zoe is an Ancient, and has lived so long, why does she act like she’s in middle school and is just beginning to learn about life. Not even Lulu does that, and Lulu has a reason to. Like you don’t get the sense at all that she’s been there since who knows when. Her lore vs her champion is a little too… different.
I’ll have to play her or against her first to be sure, but the shards hidden inside random creeps seems pretty unfair to the enemy. There is no way to know if Zoe can double flash towards you because you didn’t account for there being a flash shard inside a random minion. This seems inherently broken.
Let me just summarize this: There is a new caster that has: hard CC; one metric fukton of damage; ridiculous range on two abilities; a failsafe mechanism on the skillshot spell; a passive that pops on literally everything for more damage; as many summoner spells as the rest of the nine players combined; low cd on her ultimate. Did I miss something? It is really hard to keep track. I pretty much say she is gamebraking OP and an unpredictable, irritating cancerous element to the game. But she’s a cute female champ so the fans are served, right?
2:20 this is the most ridiculous CC ability I have ever seen. I could see this completely ruining the game as no champion ever created has a CC ability that can snipe that effectively other than Ashe’s Arrow. Also I can personally guarantee I will never see this champ in ranked. Thank you Riot for bans! : )
had a Zoe today who kept using her ultimate over walls when they were being chased. Five or Six times she did this, of course this only resulted in her getting caught each time because that’s essentially holding her in place still for a second for them to catch up and the enemy actually understood how her ult worked and just stood next to the portal for her to come back.
I’m sorry but she’s literally a kid frozen in time. She is still of a child age. It’s the same if you were frozen in an anabiosis for a thousand years – you would still come out with your age. She’s literally still a kid. Anybody who thinks she’s “legal” because she’s a thousand years old is simply not smart enough to realize this. ._.
To be fair, the concept of Zoe is really cool, the only problem I see with her is that she can kill you without hitting any skillshots at all… If only her W had a cooldown or even a high mana cost she would be balanced. And yes, she can kill you instantly if she lands an E, but what mage can’t one shot someone after hitting an important skillshot?
She looks like Joy from Inside Out. EDIT: Also holy crap the salt in the LoL fandom is insane. I’m sorta glad I’m playing other games at the moment, because a bunch of you just can’t be satisfied, no matter what Riot releases. My condolences to the people at Riot, you guys are really good, your design team especially. Everything in the game is gorgeous.
I quit League years ago and it saddens me that the trend of releasing bullshit champions is still going rampant. When will people realize that Riot doesn’t care about balance? They make these broken champions just to sell more. The game already started imbalanced and it degenerated into an abomination. And I must say I have nothing against League. My account had dozens of thousands of games played and I enjoyed them all for the most part. But the game changed way too much after every season, it went from having actual strategy to deal with your lane to a mindless brawl between laners until someone scores a kill; rinse and repeat until you win or lose. People need to realize that League already gave what it could give, and Riot is shamelessly milking the playerbase for all their worth while giving in return poorly designed content.
Riot, stop making champions with “wacky new high mobility” mechanics. It’s not clever. We all know it’s just because you’re running out of ideas on how to change up skill shots and damage mechanics, because making a champ with a different cool mobility mechanic is easy as shit. Look, here’s an idea for a champion with a new high mobility champion: it’s a support that literally can’t move on its own without ability power. Imma call it “Elme”, the living blessing. It’s a little totem. It has 0 movement speed on its own. That’s right, it literally has no movespeed. Look, here’s its skillset: passive: its passive has two parts, blessed (#blessed) and blessing blessing: When Elme clicks on a nearby champion, they pick it up and bring it with them. he stays 400 units away from them They become #blessed. Elme can also be picked up by minions or Servant of the Gods, but they do not become #blessed. blessed: Elme is #blessed, and so is anyone who carries it. #Blessed champions gain armor and armor pen scaling with Elme’s level, and an extra 2% of their attack damage. Q: Hand of Fate: if Elme is not being carried, fate moves Elme in a straight line for 1/2/3/4/5 seconds at a speed 5 times that of its last carrier. During this time, it is targetable but can walk through walls not made by champions. If it is being carried, Elme move around with the half the movement speed as its carrier for 5 seconds. However, it will always be at most 400 units away from its carrier, and staying in one position relative to its carrier is seen as staying still.
So according to the lore, Zoe’s physical body is supposed to be around the same age as Lux: late-teens to early-twenties. (She obviously isn’t…) What I find interesting though, is I recently stumbled on fanart (NO NOT THAT KIND) of her with the body of a young woman, and I have to say, actually legal Zoe is gorgeous.
she is the god of trickery. she is basicly loki. Ok Loki with about ten tons of coffee and high as hell and no sense of shame. I think the idea is people see her as not much of a threat then she breaks reality with a thought. I have played games as Zoe and I can tell u she hits like a train. On the other hand she is A) mega squishy and B) all of her abilities are skill shots cept her W) which is a role the dice in a fight. Yes she is a walking headache to vs and not has hard as riot makes out. I would put her between LB and kat for omg why am I versing this champ.
okay she is the Targonian Aspect of Twilight and please Check her story. Zoe is a Mischievious and naughty all the bad stuff etc. Then one day She finds herself to cut through class to find something less boring. She was Outrunning her Lunari Teachers. and Then The aspect Sees the Child and gain an interest on her. when Zoe was cornered by the lunari teachers and was about to grab her the Aspect summoned a Sword, A Sack Of Gold, a rune Map, Runes, a Book and the last is a Ball. One of these can lead her to get out of the situation or Let her go. She chose the sixth option. the ball. She picked the ball and kicked it at a wall and as it rickochetted at her teacher_ as she giggles and gets out the aspect summoned a portal up to Mt targon and gave one time offer to the child that to see the stars and portals and become an Aspect as Zoe accepted it and Jumped backwards on the portal and puts her tongue out and the aspect Fuses with zoe hence making Zoe an Aspect of Twilight.
I feel like they just made a champ that gets second chances to all her abilities: miss your Q? no prob recast in fact wiff it on purpose and we will near double the damage, already use your flash or ignite? no prob here are free spells in fact here are spells from minions, miss your E? easy fix now its a trap, need to jump that wall to steal baron or dive on enemy? here is your ult btw its on a really short cooldown so pop in blow your Q E and any other sums you want you will be back out in no time.
Still think Zoe’s “W” is cool… but I have absolutely no idea how this fits into her lore… I just feel like she has too many unique features(?). She has a “Q” which can 3/4 health people w/ really complex mechanics, and a sleep debuff unique to her. I just kinda wish they would have kept the “W” for another character.
This article makes me glad I don’t play League any more. On the visual side, she shows how little Riot care for their own art style even outside of skins, while on the gameplay side, I could have written a book on how her skills clearly contradict many of Riot’s self-stated goals for good game design. If you bought an old-school game, there could be sequels that you didn’t like, but you could always go back and play the original. With games like League which are under continuous development, you can never go back to the old versions when you still actually loved the game – they are gone forever.
I’m not entirely sure why you said you have to wait for zoe q to reach max range before recast, that can be done immediately, it also makes the projectile significantly faster so for poke in lane its often safer to recast quickly to guarantee quick poke before they hide behind wave. Also very relevant is her q recast procs her passive again, so qaaqaa procs electrocute and double passive proc especially useful in lane. (this make take a few games to get used to but weaving zoe q between minions with the recast in lane will massively help lane phase poke and kill pressure) I def recommend lich bane often, its way more dmg second item spike if you can weave even 1 or 2 autos. Stormsurge has a downside on zoe, the dmg can wake up sleeping targets.
Also she is extremely depedent on matchups and more of a collector items champion, if you are going against assasins or champions that like being on your face, you will want more ability haste, leech bane and aery. If you are going more for those pesky ones that like to stay in the back like veigars and ekkos, go for electrecute and full AP since you want to one shot these guys, and a style that is very good as a general rune is aery, some ability haste and ap. We call this bubble playstyle since now you can do damage and your bubble refreshes a lot so your combo goes like Q + R + Q while on R press E, aproach while they sleep and if you have enough ability haste lunch a second max range Q with another R. Zoe is a creatives champ, a lot of her plays is about seeing your enviorment and making really creative choices with your abilities.
