  • Umm OK 1.mammon didn’t kill Chas.. Gabriel did! Mammon was trapped in Isabel’s body. And the whole reason why constintine did the “into the light I command thee” chant was to force who ever killed Chas(gabriel) to review themselves. That’s why Gabriel revield himself. And 2. Chas didn’t become an angel He was a angel the whole time perusal over constantine. That’s why they smirked at each other. My only question is. Unless God told Chas to let Gabriel kill him. Why didn’t Chas see or right Gabriel back when Gabriel killed him..

  • This movie should have been declared to be in the same universe as The Dark Knight series. They are both dark and based on DC comics. Just imagine plots that could have been such as Half-Breeds causing chaos in Gotham and Batman gets in contact with Constantine. Even the Joker seems to be possessed by a demon.

  • The problem with this movie, like most with these themes is the fact that they try and use Christian concepts of heaven, hell, Lucifer, and all the attendant angels and demons while completely ignoring or misrepresenting any accurate Christian concepts of redemption or God’s actual existence or presence. Constantine’s redemption is actually pretty simple: accept Jesus’ atoning sacrifice and he would be saved. No amount of killing demons or any act of self sacrifice will redeem him, just the acceptance of the fact that he needs a Savior. If only Constantine had listened to Gabriel, he would understand. So, it is a decent movie, divorced from the empty theology and lazy misuse of Christianity. 2 Timothy 3:5

  • I would relate more to Constantine than Neo, regarding the understanding & place of Victory over Evil & their respective proximity to Their « Most High » : Both have loyal friends & lovers who gladly sacrifice their own Blessings to help them save himself & all God fearing humanity from the clutches of Evil : Lucifer become Satan, the Eternal Enemy of their Almighty « Father » in Constantine’s case & Agent Smith, the ever watchful & prideful « fallen digital Angel » become the evil « Mr Smith » that hates humanity & their « Digital Father » in Heaven or the Matrix respectively. However, the outcome is drastically different for both « saviors » : Though both are « battlefield spiritual warriors », Constantine is on a Crusade, a Fight to the Death with the Devil plaguing his world fights to the « bitter end », even pulling a final trick on Satan with the objective of Total Victory in a Total War with human souls as their proxies, whereas Neo settles for a poorly earned « victory » that ends in an uncertain « Final Truce » with his « deity » that doesn’t practically satisfy neither man nor machine 🤔 What say you ?

  • Back before the writer’s strike shut down late night T.V. (et.al.) I watched Keanu Reeves on some talk show (I think it might have been The Late Show with Stephen Colbert) and ~ wherever it was ~ Keanu was asked which of the characters he’s played on the Big Screen he’d like to revisit. And he said: “Constantine”

  • ….it all began when I was between 6 and 7 yes old visiting my siblings who were living in Chicago Illinois sleeping in a basement….I woke up from a peaceful dream and first thing I see is this dark figure staring at me almost as if it was waiting for me to witness it….I look around bur everyone continues sleeping…..I believe it has followed me all these years………. that’s all ima say…

  • I thought the portrayal of each characters was one for the record book first I watched this movie I was on my seat from start to finish, peter stormare take of lucifer was jaw dropping, the interaction between Keanu and Peter was one of pure terrified it was perusal a poker game unfold and Constantine won, beautiful done pure poetry!!!

  • Love this movie; very satisfying, the two leads are great, so are the supporting actors, I’ve seen it a million times. Tonight I saw it, recorded off of AMC, then went to read about it on Wikipedia (I never did that before) and read that there was ANOTHER scene I’ve never yet seen, included after the credits! Evidently they’ve chopped it out EVERY SINGLE TIME I’VE EVER SEEN THE MOVIE, so they can squeeze in just one more soul-destroying commercial, damn their eyes. Also there’s supposedly a sequel, currently trapped in development hell, or so I’m guessing. We’ll see… or not.

  • 8:11. But we just noted the club where demons and angels hang out…meaning they been on earth for a while and mingling amongst themselves 6:45. So the whole “actually” and the spear and “about to happend” does not time together with the story … But great movie. Oh! Also…16:16 lucifer cures him of cancer so Constantine would not die, yet…he did not die of cancer but he slit his wrist and that is why he died. One more thing that dies not tie in with the story.

  • This movie is my number two on the all time scary as hell (no pun intended) list. Number one is of course The Exorcist. Both for the same reason: this is something that can be actually happening, or some form of it. I realize it’s all Hollywood and they have to make some scenes a little over the top, I mean the principles. The vision of Hell is frightening. When the camera pans down from Constantine walking on the surface to the pit below where souls of the damned are kept with demons jumping from one to the next is a scene that haunts me. Imagine that. And I don’t know what the time stoppage is, but John says two minutes in Hell is a lifetime. Back to the living realm, Angela doesn’t even have enough time to get the door closed before John is back. So by my rough calculations based on those events, Hell operates at one second to one year. For every year that passes in the living, one second passes in Hell. Contemplate that little number for a while. Makes you really think.

  • Honnestly?!… It is a SOLID 10 in my palmarès!!! Still is one of my favorite movies, along with 5th Element. If I may suggest..!!👀🙏 This was a great article; but in any kind of exposé, ease avoiding to remark things that are “strange” (but clearly counscious narrative choices made by the movie movie production) if you have NO explainations or theory about it because it’s really annoying when one is already not totaly sure to get it all!!! ex. Satan coming from the celling dressed in white. ex.2 breaking coherency/chronology of Mammon’s journey (walking from Mexico to SD but suddently just emerging out of the water of tbe clinic’s pool), like what!!? He got there and was “haha, hiding in the pool” so she wouldn’t see him when she’d get violently dropped there…?!?!?!? OR… He could teleport all that time but decieded to walk the desert?!?!….. Itjust leaves one with more questions than necessary!!! Lo!!😉😊 Thx a lot for that article though!!!

  • So wait… a little boy with a “gift” of seeing the dead and more decides to kill himself because hey… little boy..”gift”.. can be abit much to someone and he goes to hell because of that? I mean is God that blind not to see how this “gift” can destroy someone? Its like a poor person asking for bread and the rich blaming the poor for being poor. Geez God sucks
