The High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) is a controversial government project in Alaska that studies the upper atmosphere. It has been accused of being a mind-control network, an alien-invasion defense system, and the source of mass animal deaths. Online conspiracy theorists suggest that HAARP was responsible for the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, the Moore, Oklahoma tornado of 2013, and a landslide in 2006 in the Philippines.
The US Air Force has notified Congress that it will close down its HAARP, a controversial government project that conspiracy theorists believe to be responsible for weather control, mind manipulation, and military purposes. A snowstorm that threatens to affect voting in Monday’s Iowa caucuses was caused by former Defense Department research equipment, according to a conspiracy theory on social media.
HAARP is a group of high-frequency radio transmitters that can heat a region of space far above our heads with electricity. False claims and conspiracy theories about HAARP’s purported ability to influence the weather and create natural disasters have persisted for over a decade. After Hurricane Ian ravaged the Caribbean and southeastern U.S. at the end of September, a years-old conspiracy theory about the government being able to control the weather and create natural disasters persisted.
Individuals who score higher in trait anger are more likely to believe conspiracy theories (Szymaniak et al., 2023a,b). Explore the mysteries and conspiracy theories surrounding HAARP, learn about its history, purpose, and the controversial claims of weather control, mind manipulation, and military purposes.

📹 Balkan Conspiracy Theories are INSANE
#balkan #serbia #romania NOTE: I am NOT promoting any of these theories, but just sharing the ones I found the most amusing …
Ah man my crazy uncle was right all along. We cut him out of the family because he wouldn’t shut the fuck up about government facilities controlling the weather. If only we had listened. To be fair he was also insanely racist and anti-semitic but now that I think about it, people are calling me anti-semitic too just because I donated money to a Palestinian food bank. Maybe there comes a time in every man’s life where he realizes his crazy uncle wasn’t that crazy after all. I better look into all the racist stuff he said in case he was right about that too.
I was aware of HAARP well over a decade ago on the late Art Bell radio show. His guests would discuss El Nino and La Nina impacts on weather cycles. Anyhow there was a violent storm recently here in NC that damaged a Pfizer Plant within days of California landslides and Vermont flooding. We live during interesting times.
I live in Mississippi, for the last 3 year’s have seen more rain than the sun, last summer got so hot you couldn’t breathe, last year fought absess on my pony for 7 month’s, every time he would get better more and more rain til finally he passed, my neighbor has cattle and because of NON STOP rain he had many cattle he had to doctor on for absess, haven’t asked if at this time he has had to deal again with this. I can tell you I believe in Haarp and who ever is doing this non stop weather I don’t know how they sleep at night, I have huge tree limbs all over my place at this time from ice storm in January, I have never been so upset with this horrible harrp, I live in the country with many animal’s and this is evil in my opinion. Latest on Harrp, a few day’s ago when high wind came in it tore up my garage door, 6 month’s ago between hard rain and very high wind broke my metal’s flag pole in half, that cost à 100.oo to get fixed and yesterday 03/07/23 got a estimate of 425.00 on huge limbs all around my property, my German Shepherds have suffered one way or the other for last 3 year’s, and yes they have heat and air but are scared of storms, I called farm bureau and they said there phone has been non stop, I live on fixed income and yes will have to pay again, nothing brings back a animal’s life, I hope who ever is in control of this does some soul searching, this is so evil, for anyone that questions haarp go in and look at other States weather and check DRASTIC CHANGES WITH IN A 3 HOUR SPAN, IT IS NON STOP, AS FAR AS NON STOP LOOK AT MISSISSIPPI AND LOOK AT OTHER STATE’S, I HAVE 😪, I am 63 live on a farm and so fed up with the evil I see, have lived at same place for 32 year’s and Never has it been like this, would move if I could afford to, God Bless the World, one more thing read about chem trails and weather modification, between these three thing’s you have your answer to weather.
Haarp was part of reagans star wars agenda…during that time the MIC sold the idea that a directed energy beam could take down a missile miles up in the ionosphere before reaching U.S. air space. Now today they tell us satellites with a lazer direct energy beam couldn’t burn up Maui. Man has been trying to control the weather ( rain making) for hundreds of years. During the 20th century military & political figures stated in the future he who controls the weather controls the world! Now listen you people…the american people, people of the world…Haarp is an array of microwave generators which when focused will, Can, does, super heat a portion of the ionosphere creating a super heated bubble of atmosphere which can be used to create or direct pre-existing weather patterns or establish new weather patterns or even earthquakes. Do the research. Use your brain to visualize what super heating a section of the ionosphere and then suddenly stopping it might due to barometric pressures on the earth or oceans. The project as usual received funding long enough to get started then suddenly was defunded and the people quickly forgot about it…Americans have severe short term memory lost…just the way they like it… Has anyone considered the military using DEB on ships and mobile platforms. Why couldn’t these folks have a large aircraft with DEB system on board. Flying several miles up allowing the use of the beams upon targeted areas. People need to think….
HAARP’s published document indicates “Generating very low frequency (VLF) radio waves” without specifying how low the frequency they can emit. VLF is typically 3–30 kHz. The brain waves are in VLF : Beta (β) 12–35 Hz in Anxiety dominant, active, external attention, relaxed Alpha (α) 8–12 Hz in Very relaxed, passive attention Theta (θ) 4–8 Hz in Deeply relaxed, inward focused Delta (δ) 0.5–4 Hz in Sleep. IF HAARP is able to lower their emitted (and reflected) frequency by the ionosphere, they can EASILY match specific brain wavelengths to influence human behaviour.
Haarp – Designed for the purposes of manipulating atmospheric weather and influencing cloud formations as well as precipitation and allowing for severe storms, natural disasters to be caused. Haarp water manipulation capabilities are in coordination with the negatively orientated Orion extraterrestrial entities who possess advanced knowledge of weather control. There are entities working with haarp to facilitate and harness the amplification of weather manipulating abilities . They are primarly using many of these technologies to create certain climactic patterns or anomalies in the atmospheric conditions, which affects all life including the people on this planet Why is the Schumann resonance spiking so much in our recent times? Because the Schumann resonance primarily refers to the frequency of earths electromagnetic cavities, which is found between the earths surface and the ionosphere. It is being influenced by the aspect known as solar activities. This is caused by the so called aster command social memory complex who have sent a fleet to the sun in order to increase the solar activity, causing the spiking of the solar resonance which has been noticed by many people on our planet. A massive event is about to happen and haarp are well aware of it !
The High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program (HAARP) is the world’s most capable high-power, high frequency (HF) transmitter for study of the ionosphere. The principal instrument is the Ionospheric Research Instrument (IRI), a phased array of 180 HF crossed-dipole antennas spread across 33 acres and capable of radiating 3.6 megawatts into the upper atmosphere and ionosphere. Transmit frequencies are selectable in the range of 2.7 to 10 MHz, and since the antennas form a sophisticated phased array, the transmitted beam can take many shapes, can be scanned over a wide angular range and multiple beams can be formed. The facility uses 30 transmitter shelters, each with six pairs of 10 kilowatt transmitters, to achieve the 3.6 MW transmit power.
Please do the research. It is more than possible to make something resonate and shatter, shake, or quake. I have followed haarp and it’s power and possibilities for many years. Concentrated radio frequency energy can be reflected and focused to a finite point to cause heat, obliterate tumours, and show and tell you your baby’s sex. Think about that for a moment, it can also be used as a weapon sonically and can penetrate the ground to great depths. Offset of stereo frequencies can set up frequencies that can cause pain inside your head. Do the math, and research when each particular facility is in operation. Yes there is more than one, you will find anomalies of when they were active and connect the dots to events of weather and seismic activity within 48 hours. Remember, you can be hundreds to thousands of miles away from a targeted area and still manipulate something that resonates at that frequency. It’s all about frequency, even your body and it’s health. Nuff said. Cheers
I did a year on Adak, Alaska Mount Moffett It is closed, they say and the place is restored to only tundra. With a power plant there and a Haarp unit, they say is closed. Do not believe the BS. Heating the Ionosphere is weather manipulation. When Giga watts are used, it is no longer research, but a weapon.
I have heard it transmitting before but it’s been about three or four years ago using my RTL-SDR. There’s a program called ghosts in the air glow, and they combine art with RF using SSTV and NBTV transmissions. People send reports in when they are able to decode one. Amanda, Dawn Christie heads up the project, and it appears they are still scheduling shows as of October of this year.
Weaponised weather New York now is an example of it, Tesla invented it to bring rain to dry hot continents but the US gov used it as a weapon & sent more rain to areas already hit with winters all year & wet lands like England Ireland Scotland. If the elites want your road they’ll flood u out similarly to if they get your dna & want your organs or blood donation without your agreement they’ll cause you to be injured just enough to be put unconscious by a doctor
Here in Western Australia, we are at the start of summer. We had a few days of 27°-30°c (clear skies) which is normal.. Then we have 2 days of 41°-43° then next day (after 2 days of extreme heat and intense UV and even weather alerts on our weather apps warning of the extreme UV…) we get 22° after the skies were plastered with chems the night/early morning before. Day after we had rain when google says no chance of rain..
Apparently there was something useful to this technology because a much earlier version was originally built in Platteville Colorado starting back in 1962 and more or less ending in the 80’s. I think the main objective was an “over the horizon radar” system similar to the Russian woodpecker located near chernobyl.
Y’all I never knew what this was but long story short I work for Amazon and when I get done heading home to get on the interstate they have these on the flat beds of 18 wheelers I have passed 5-10 trucks in the past 4 months also since those 4 months driving back I see at least 1-3 tanks/or army vehicles on a flat bad as well somethings bout to go down
HAARP is definitely a weapon of mass destruction. Its run by (criminal terrorists who are enlisted in) the Air Force for a reason. Another cowardly act of the Air / Space Force is their terroristic use of microwave and radio frequency weapons on the defenseless and unaware population of the United States. How sad that the same government agencies that are trusted with the defense of our country are covertly torturing and murdering our people.
I had recently stubbled upon a harp antenna. And it began transmitting shortly after we started walking around the area. Me and a friend had to stop and ask each other if they where hearing it too. My friend doesn’t know what harp is. But I am more than familiar with what it is.but I know immediately what I was hearing and after walking around the area I found the hug field of antennas. It was smaller than I’d expect. At least this one was…
We all banned from visiting the South pole, by a treaty signed by a selected few countries on the basis that the boidiversity is so sensitive we will disburb the balance of nature, and for our safety as it is extremely cold. But they can do this fishy…you will get a 10 000 dollar fine or up to a year in prison if you dare to go there.
Directed energy weapons are the new cutting edge technologies, we have shrank the tech down small enough now that we can start putting weaponized lasers on our fighter aircraft, that has been a goal for years but we had to get to a point where we could have a small enough power source that would adequately power these airborne laser systems. The Boing YAL-1 for example is our foray into a technology that can shoot down incoming nuclear missiles. Hypersonic missiles vs laser, hypersonic is still far outclassed by a speed of light directed energy weapon, but if I were going to go there I would want thousands of such energy weapon systems in place that could defend against a flood of incoming hypersonic missiles. Ah the Reagan years and star wars, we have come a long way since then.
The interview that I seen years ago with a physicist, said that it was possible to blow a hole in the atmosphere and it would allow everything from the lower atmosphere to rush up into that hole and redirect the natural flow of the Jet Stream. If it’s possible, you know they have done it. 😂. They just call the person crazy. Just like people that have seen UFOs. 😂
Looks a lot like a satellite net… They say they are conducting research on the ionosphere but the Ionosphere layer present in the Thermosphere helps in radio transmission, especially to and from satellites… I believe this to be a listening station… I don’t think they are or ever have been concerned with weather, though they probably prefer you believe they are…
Several beams into one fine point onto the ionosphere does have consequences it would seem. Saudi Arabia uses some type of technology to create rain storms supposedly. U.S. used weather manipulation during the Vietnam, seed clouding. There are many different ways to manipulate weather it seems. The trade offs can be catastrophic changing the way moisture travels through our atmosphere for example. Our bodies have been used to certain weather patterns over the decades/centuries including all the generations past, changing weather patterns through technology does have impacts on human health.
I’m no conspiracy theorist, but if the point of this article was to assuage any concerns people might have about HAARP, if failed miserably. The idea that the US military spent millions (billions?) of dollars to develop this technology merely to detect or study “perturbations” in the ionosphere strikes me as being highly implausible. The fact that secret HAARP sites are apparently springing up in countries around the world, including the UK, is deeply sinister, in my opinion. Also, the dearth of articles on YT and other websites dealing with HAARP (and I’ve been searching for them) strongly suggests to me that information on this subject is being actively blocked/censored.
In regards to the weather I feel humans biggest impact is the concrete jungles we make surrounded by an urban landscape of roads, rooftops and manicured lawns and deforestation for farmlands. Farmlands alone have next to no trees and are hydrated creating inorganic evaporation. Just my two bobs worth I sort of understand what cern is doing but haarp to me is exactly what is stated in this article. Scary! The masses are being played. We should be able to easily access when these extremely power hungry experiments are happening! Do they all turn on at once? Or do they take turns?
Does the following remark made mean something: ” 2025 we will own the weather…❗❗❗”. Especially in the light of what is happening right now woth droughts floods an earth quackes, but oh yeh, sorry, its because of globalwarming that is caused by cattle farmers and cfc’ that are now forgotten. Mmmmm……?
Extremely low frequency (ELF) fields can be used to create high-pressure systems that bulge up into the jet stream, altering its course (this can be done by bouncing the waves off of the ionosphere to anywhere within a hemispheres distance of the origin of the radio waves). High-pressure systems can be placed in front of hurricanes to move them in a northern or southern direction. Hurricane Katrina made a sudden 90 degree turn north before slamming into Louisiana in 2005, because of a high pressure system. The next hurricane season saw an anomalous high pressure system sit off the coast of Georgia for a three to four week period, bouncing as many hurricanes into the north Atlantic. High pressure systems usually do not sit in one place for more than three to four days. ELF fields can be used to release tension in fault lines within the earth.
The HFAARP HIGH FREQUENCY ACTIVE AURORAL RESEARCH PROGRAM was designed by Nikola Tesla Wardenclyffe Tower 🗼 project built in 1900 on Long Island New York to Transmit Electrical Energy Wirelessly to the world and it was Nikola Tesla Wardenclyffe Tower 🗼 that caused the Tunguska Explosion 💥 Nikola Tesla sent Electrical Energy Beam of 1 Trillion Watts of Power Resonating at a Radio Frequency of 2 Million Alternations per second and in 1 Ocillation the Electrical Energy Beam gave the Energy of 100 000 000 000 000 000 Joules of Energy that’s 24 Megatons of TNT and Nikola Tesla said that with Electrical Energy we can control the Climate and change the weather the HFAARP was made from Nikola Tesla work and yes The HFAARP can control your mind Nikola Tesla friends Sir William Crooks the inventor of the Crooks Tube said that when Humans are Tuned to the same High Frequency Brain Waves they can communicate Telepathy and that’s true
There is not enough power in the earth to control the weather, but it can be done. If we create something to absorb the energy contained in the lightning, then the weather is controllable. I have a plan to store the energy in the lightning. I can create it. There are no technical resources to do, if anyone is interested, please contact
If we vibrate on the same frequency as the planet then it seems that changing that frequency could effect the way we vibrate as waves of energy in reality. To think the waves of energy all around us as wifi, cellular networks, and the restof the frequencies don’t have any effect on us is just ignorance of scientific evidence. If microwaves heat water then it can heat up as humans.
The problem with weather control is that we are not Gods, Titans or even Primordials, one should not tamper with the powers far older than our very own species is ever, Now let’s say you can create something like a FX class of tornado, yeah sure aim it at the enemy capital and launch it, it will eventually dissipate, the problem is still the same, you going to need boots on the ground, to clean up, good luck, Pompei bomb, make a volcano or several erupt in an enemy location, super messy, ash fallout can be worse than radiation, chances are mega-storms will start to form up, you ow troops will be exposed to the dangers, Earthquake & Tsunami machine, less fire and ash, more or less like above, its just a big mess,
So I Just Recently Discovered Your Stuff While Picking Up The Hobby. Great articles Thanks. Maybe it’s such a invisible, technical and non obvious issue experts in the field(about as dated and common as slot car racers in 2024) don’t have the incentives or heart to ruin the fun fair for others by ..haarping on about it! I know.. This got me thinking real deep. HAARP/HIPAS is YING to ICECUBE/PACWAVEs yang >.<
Messy around with haarp and the ionosphere, feels like this to me… Imagine jumping in a river, with a waiting 7 foot crocodile, wearing a suit yr friend made that he assured you would keep u 100% safe. Unfortunately it is only when the man is being eaten alive and torn apart that he realises he and his friend were mistaken to even try this. They may only realise the problems they’ve caused using haarp…. Once it’s too late.
Wrong tornado buddy. Wasnt the moore f5. Was the el reno same year. They shut down the facility may 2013 for a staff “changeover” and the el reno just happened to be the kast day of the month. Do your research about harp and the demonstration same week of the hallam tornado. Funny they did a demonstration same week of the other 2.5 mile monster….
I heard it from a wisselblower on YouTube he Was in alasks weer he Was at that time that he sad that thay weer using a haarpwapen to Chang the wether, i cant find this YouTube article any more Was probably delete and i have never heard of that wisselblower hoop he is stil aliive for sending that out on YouTube
My favourite conspiracy theory is one I heard from a Romanian taxi driver, and it’s got some genuinely cool lore. I might actually steal this for my next tabletop campaign. So the Planet Earth is a living being with a soul, and it is angry at humanity for polluting it. The Earth’s spirit can also manifest through rocks, minerals, metals, etc. that were removed from it. And since electronics are made using metals and rare earth minerals, that means once we reach a certain level of AI development, the Earth will take over all electronic systems on the planet and start a robot uprising to exterminate humanity.
I’m Slovenian and in my hometown there’s a barber who’s a massive schizo conspiracy theorist. Everyone in town makes fun of her for it. One day a few years back i went in to get a haircut and for 3 hours (my haircuts usually only take around 20 minutes) she ranted about different conspiracy theories she had heard from some random woman on facebook and how this woman on facebook is going to save the world. The whole thing was pretty mind numbing so I don’t remember most of the things she said but I did remember one theory she had. She said there is a massive underground pedo ring that most celebrities partake in. At the time I thought this was completely ridiculous but a few years later the Epstein list was revealed. Even though she was kinda right once, everything else she says is completely schizo
According to Bulgarian legend, the coast is littered with abandoned WW2-era pillboxes because German submarines would secretly come out to the beaches to collect Mud for Mud therapy even after the land route to Germany had been cut off. Apparently our soil is so rich in minerals it could bring the wounded back into the fight just by rubbing it into the skin. The Bulgarian Mud™extended WW2 by at least 2 years (no, we are not sorry).
Boy, I once met a fellow hungarian who actually belived that we’re from space. Poor man was adamant also, he believed that the real hungarian crown is like 5 million years old and is kept somewhere in America. Considering how the ’90s and early 2000s were all about people being obsessed with the USA it’s not that hard to understand the latter half either.
Romanians definitely have the most esoteric conspiracies of all. I actually trecked the Bucegi Mountains with some friends to find the Bucegi paranormal tunnels, but ended up finding a bear so the quest had to abruptly end… maybe there are so MANY bears in Romania to keep you from finding any proof about that area 😂
Montenegrin here- We love to claim that we’re actually part of the oldest civilization in the world, that the USA broke up Yugoslavia from the inside because we were becoming a superpower, and that many successful athletes and scientists are actually Montenegrin! However, our boomers are less into conspiracy theories and more into superstitious beliefs., folk tales and tradition. Would love a article about about funny and strange superstitions, customs and folk tales from the Balkans.
Probably the most famous Bulgarian conspiracy aside from Baba Vanga is about the town of Tsarichina. There has been numerous films by the national televisions about it. Here is a short snippet from Wikipedia: “The town is known for its alleged paranormal activity. In the early 1990s, it was nicknamed “Bulgaria’s Area 51” due to the local “Tsarichina Hole”. This hole was dug by the Ministry of Defence of Bulgaria, who excavated an area in the center of the village during a project active from 6 December 1990 to 19 November 1992. A group of psychics convinced some influential military members to start an excavation. As the secret “Operation Lightbeam” commenced, the psychics changed their opinion on what to find in Tsarichina several times. They were looking “for a creature – a “yellow-haired monkey”, a “Biblical personage”, a “hermaphrodite extraterrestrial that would disprove Darwin’s theory of evolution and would reveal humanity’s extraterrestrial origins”, or the hidden treasure of Tsar Samuil. After digging a 160 metres (520 ft) long tunnel at a depth of 70 metres (230 ft) without finding anything for two years, the project was abandoned due to “financial concerns”, and the hole was sealed with concrete. Allegedly, one psychic committed suicide during the excavation and one involved officer killed himself after the end of the project.”
Too bad literally nobody I know ever wants to hear MY theory on Baba Vangja and how the debris that got into her eyes were actually nano machines and the nano machines turned her into some kind of living computer able to predict future events by analyzing already familiar data, probably connected to some sort of wireless network too. Of course the people actually believing in Baba Vangja don’t have the capacity to understand my sci-fi version of her 😀
Hungarian here. My godmother believes the sirius thing. She talks about that to my grandma, who is old and believes everything. She told her that there is an alien captain (named “Ashtar” who looks like an elf from lotr) who will one day grab us and bring us to the 5th dimension where we can create anything. They even fantasize about the mansion and THE MAID they will have there…
About baba Vanga. My family had relations with her, mostly my grandparents. To be honest many people came to her because she was a great healer. She really did have some sort of supernatural abilities. There is a story my grandparents told me of an old person waiting in line (there was always a big line of people waiting to see her) and suddenly Vanga went out of her house and told the old person that she knew why he was here: She explained that he was here to ask her about his son, who was in hospital, if he will be okay. She told him that to go now and see him, because if he wasted more time, he wouldn’t have the chance to share his last words to him. And later my grandma ( ahe was the one who saw this scene play out) learned that the old man managed to say goodbye to his own son. Vanga also helped my family a lot, mainly with cures for health issues and gave us a lot of good advice. From the stories I heard, people mainly went to her for advice and health related questions, rather than seeking predictions for the future. I know few more stories my grandparents and even my own parents told me that they actually saw. And the stories always made me question the world we lived in, just because of this one person named Vanga
I heard 2 theories (more like jokes) somewhere. 1.: “Jesus was hungarian, because nobody understand Jesus fully, just like nobody understands hungarians fully!” 2.:”The Egyptian Pharaoes were hungarian, because they got buried in the same way as leader Attila. . . . . . . A bit after their death, in the ground”
As a Bulgarian whose mom is absolutely a conspiracy theorist, i get to hear a lot of these absolute insane ideas and one of my favourites is “Bulgars had celestial contact with a God from a far galaxy”. I will try to explain the very basics of the conspiracy, but trust me there is so much more to this: The theory goes that Bulgars had direct contact with a God called “Богиня Майка” (Direct translation being “God Mother”) whose most represented as a woman with notably defined honkers for some reason as well as a smooth curve at the top of her head. She supposedly came from a completely different galaxy and gave Bulgars the knowledge to create the most accurate calender and most accurate numeral system (see Bulgar Calendar and Cyrillic Numerals for context) as well as a variant of a whip that can smoothly cut through people like butter due to its ability to move faster than the speed of sound. This conspiracy is also tied towards the idea that an Ancient Egyptian king was buried in a mountain on Bulgarian land, as well as the idea that the Dulo clan created a crown capable of injecting racist snake poison (im not kidding) that kills you if you attempt to wear the crown and you’re not from a specific lineage.
I’ve studied in Cluj for the past five years, and as a tradition me and some friends have been camping in Hoia Baciu every ear (this year was my third time). We usually camp right next to that circular meadow (literally 6-8 meters away from it), because the stars can be seen nicely from it. The only paranormal things we have experienced were a fox that tried to steal our sausages, the appearance (and sudden disappearance) of a pothead named Tudor that asked us if we have any weed (at 1 in the morning), and two teenagers asking us where the rave is.
1. Grand Victory of Great Bosnian Empire over Atlantis in 14000bc 2. Josip Broz Tito is descendant of Jesus 3. Serbs are descedant from hyperboreans 4. Two slanderman like guardians at Rtanj Gate 5. Vampires originated from serbia 6. Asthar Sheran galactic federation of light (its not originated from balkan but its very popular in some parts of Serbia and croatia) 7. Yakoob – the creator of white race (same cause as above) 8. Emperor Trajan is the same persona like Eperor Constantine 9. Nemanjici are from germany 10. Phantom history 11. In the beggining Serbs created God
Never heard of this laser tank, but Szhatie/Сжатие (means “Compression”) is a very strange name for one. Then again who knows, the Soviets gave artillery systems flower names and surface to air missiles were named after geometric shapes. Growing up in Russia one popular conspiracy was that TV towers (like Ostankenskaya in Moscow) had a mind control beam as well, so if you liked too close to it you’d become very vulnerable to suggestion.
there is a theory in bulgarian that japanese people are bulgarians that didn’t move out from their island and that boris the third chose to enter ww2 just because of japan and not the german ultimatum it also states that todor jivkov was a friend of hirohito and visited japan often with hiro telling him “good to see you after 2000 years”
In Poland there is one conspiracy theory that’s directly related to the balkans and it became somewhat popular in 2010s, but now somewhat died down: In our country there is a legend about three brothers: Lech, Czech i Rus. The legend is a somewhat symbolic of the Slavic nations and each “brother” is suppoused to represent one of them, but it’s just that, a legend. Well… there are some people who believe that it’s an actual retelling of true historical events. The legend was first written down in 1200s as a part of the “Polish-Hungarian Chronicle” and as such there are schizos who think that it tells the actual history of europe (even though it contradicts with other stuff written within the same book). They say that in ancient times predating even the first Polish kings Europe was split into three major empires that competed with the Romans: The Great Czechia that covered all of the western Europe from Germany to Spain, The Great Lechia that spanned from the Baltic sea to Egypt, and Russia(Yes, Russia, not “Great Russia”, just Russia) which had pretty much the same borders as now. There are a lot of different “branches” of this theory with differing beliefs, some of them like the “Lechici” group are more akin to an actual cult than just a group of shizos talking to one another. The most wacky version of it that I’ve heard is that these three brothers weren’t just ancient rulers of Europe, instead they were the actual first humans on earth – that the true location of bibilical garden of Eden is at the Odra river, and that “Adam Lech” is the actual Adam mentioned in the bible.
So, this will be a fun one, I am from Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. Recently I learnt from one the gypsies at work about a local legend from the nearby village of Hrishteni, a legend about a multi-century old giant snake with legs and a long gray beard. According to the gypsies the snake is neutral in nature, working on a “fuck around and find out” basis, if you don’t mess with it, it leaves you be, if you mess with it… well… one of ’em said that no matter where you try to run and hide, it will find you and you will die. Another gypsy in the group claimed to have lost a relative to the snake, also mentioned a semi-recent incident of a bulldozer found flipped in Hrishteni, they claim the dozer disturbed and angered the great snake so it tore one of the dozer’s tracks off and flipped the thing without hurting the operator in it. The Gypsies description of the snake kind of matches that of a traditional Chinese dragon, being bearded, long, with legs, armored scales, nigh-invincible (they claimed someone shot at it with a shotgun and the pellets just bounced off) and being so big and heavy it could total a bulldozer. I never knew there was such a legend nearby and also had no idea how anyone can believe in something so ridiculous and illogical as a literal giant serpent, without any recorded evidence of it existing… in 2024… everyone has a good enough quality camera on their person at ALL times. Last time I checked, giant serpents are not subtle or easy to hide. That’s about it really.
This was an amazing watch. Being from the other side of the world (The Philippines), it’s always fascinating to see culture and beliefs from other countries manifest – not just by historical fact, but also by outlandish claims thru conspiracy. I just love that there’s a belief that there’s a real-life equivalent of The Dwemer Race from The Elder Scrolls Lore, and at any whiff or hint of being savvy, a savant or someone well known – it’s Dacian Aliens From The Mountains. Best we got here is Tomoyuki Yamashita’s gold – a cache of collected loot through Japanese conquest during WWII was hidden in the Sierra Madre mountains of east Philippines, left behind and is just waiting to be uncovered. Though debunked, many people believe that the Marcoses (the Philippine equivalent of Ceaucescu) managed to find the treasure, and hid it inside a Head Statue carved out of a mountain of Ferdinand Marcos at Northern Philippines. Eventually, to de-Marcosify the nation – blew up the head statue, and found nothing. People still believe the gold is still out there – and that the current President – amazingly the son of the dictator himself – Bong Bong Marcos, is said to still have the gold. But yeah, like all your articles from Eastern Europe – its always fascinating to look into the lives and culture from countries outside where you’re from. Cheers!
I know even a funnier Dacian tunel version, here it is. “Traian was acctually Dacian, but he had a fight with Decebal and he decided to betray Dacia, he used the not so secret of that time tunels under the charpatians mountains to go to Rome, as Rome was acctually a Dacian founded city and the Dacians were the original latin speaking population, anyway, he went to Rome and became Emperor somehow came back to Dacia and conquered it.”
Tunnel theory exists in Northern Greece too. First time I heard it was when I was a tour guide in a cave, and a guy told me about “The other stuff, the ones we don’t show to the tourists.” When I asked for an explanation, I learned that Alexander the Great and his army had dug tunnels everywhere, below Macedonia, and they were popping up very fast wherever. Turns out, guy wasn’t the only one believing it unfortunately, being “Common knowledge” around here 🙃
My favourite one is that there is a country that: -Speaks bulgarian but tells Bulgarians they can’t understand them because they speak “Macedonian” -Have three different nationalist political parties that eachother claim a different nationality -claim Alexander the great was their ancestor (Bulgarian) and not Greek despite his own belief, his name, his language, his religion, his heritage from Peloponnese, the fact he participated in the Olympics(only Greeks allowed back then) and that he literally began Hellenistic era himself
You should make a part 2 of this article. Here’s a list of Bulgarian conspiracy theories that I would like to see in another article: The Hole at Tsarichina People in Bulgaria call it Bulgaria’s Area 51. In the 80’s some Bulgarian mystic (not Baba Vanga) started writing in an unknown language. Then Baba Vanga told people that the other Bulgarian mystic was being instructed to write the things she wrote by an alien creature which was also the first human and was sexless. The creature was super smart and capable of destroying the world and was said to be buried in a capsule under the village of Tsarichina where it was hibernating. After hearing that the Bulgarian army immediately started digging a spiralling tunnel under Tsarichina in order to reach the mystical creature. During the digging the army didn’t bother to reinforce the tunnel at all but miraculously it managed to not collapse under its weight. Locals also reported noticing strange lights in the sky above the hole during the whole operation. The army dug around 150 meters long tunnel before stopping and filling the whole tunnel with concrete. Baba Vanga then said that they were only 4-5 meters away from reaching the capsule but thankfully they didn’t because that would have caused the End of the World. Bastet’s Tomb Another story really similar to the one about the Hole at Tsarichina is about the tomb of the Ancient Egyptian goddess Bastet. It is said to be located in the Strandzha Mountain right next to the border with Turkey.
I remember there’s a popular theory in Russia (not Balkans, but whatever) about the Metro-2, which was a series of secret metro branches running from the Kremlin to other parts of the Soviet Union (now, just Russia), built back when Stalin was Secretary General. There is truth to this theory, Metro 2 does exist, and functioned as an evacuation measure for the government in case Moscow was to be taken by the Nazis, or by the western powers. It apparently also lead to a series of bomb shelters and connected various strategic locations. A good chunk of the information is still classified, but some state that it leads to a whole underground city.
Some other conspiracy theories I’ve heard about in Romania: 1. Giant human-like skeletons (that were also radioactive, I think? Can’t remember) found in some tunnels in the mountains, and the whole thing having been covered up by the Communist regime. (YT article about this is called: “URIAŞI de 10 metri descoperiţi în România | Tunelul secret unde au fost gasiti”) 2. Underground tunnels built by the Dacians or aliens (idk what’s up with us, Romanians, and tunnels. The Dacians must’ve been dwarves or something) beneath the black sea that links Romania, Bulgaria and Turkey. Apparently these ancient tunnels were used by animal hearders, in more recent time, in order to find better green pastures for their livestock to feed upon (doesn’t make any f-ing sense), but they had to be careful when travelling said tunnels cause they could flood up very suddenly. It is said that one of the entrances of the tunnels is located in the old town part of the city of Constanta, which is the biggest city by the black sea, in Romania, and where I personally live. The entrance has been allegedly sealed off by the authorities by placing a giant slab of concrete on top of it so people can’t enter anymore. 3. Oh, and Nikola Tesla is actually Romanian because we have a carpenting tool called ‘Tesla’ and I guess that’s evidence enough. 4. Atlantis is at the bottom of the black sea. The black sea used to be a lake, until the great flood happened, and it became a sea, and Atlantis got swallowed by it.
To the Jesus part: Jesus was born in a palace between Jerusalem and Betlehem, he went to some places like India, Hungary and Romania. He spent some time in Oradea where he met Mary Magdalene. Jesus was 17 at this time and fell in love with her, 13 years later Jesus and Mary had a wedding at Kana. Thanks for your time reading this ⚜️
Ceaușescu’s lazer is true. I know this from the local bum who was a general in the Securitate. He was so devastated by the destruction of Soviet tanks that he he developed PTSD and was dismissed from the army. I know it’s true because he told me this after I got him a bottle of Mona and gave him 2 cigarreres.
Honestly, the second I saw this article I knew a lot of Romanian conspiracy theories would show up. You forgot a thing about the Bucegi Mountains and the tunnel thing, people claim inside the tunnels there are or at least were giants, sometimes you hear the tunnels and giants theory intersect with Ceausescu’s laser.
I’m 3/4 Greek and 1/4 Swedish and I grew up in Sweden so I haven’t been in contact with that many balkan conspiracies except through the internet and I had never heard of any of the ones discussed in the article. However, I do know a lot of balkan people through my parents (especially Serbs) and they sometimes say the most outlandish insane shit you could ever imagine. My godfather is from Surdulica in southern Serbia and he has the most wild and crazy ideas of any person I’ve ever met irl. When I was younger, I always thought I had a hard time understanding him because of his heavy Serbian accent. Turns out not to be the case, because other Serbs don’t understand him when he’s speaking Serbian either. He just likes to speak in riddles. He once said that Alexander the Great wasn’t Macedonian and he wasn’t Greek, but of course: Serbian. He thinks Swedish people are an offshoot of an old Serbian tribe who lost contact with the mother nation and forgot about our shared brotherhood with the Serbs. How he fits the timelines together is anybody’s guess but I’ve come to realize these beliefs are never tied to any piece of evidence. He also believes in a secret global government consisting of a very few number of people (5-30 is my guess by the sound of his ramblings) who control everything and always favors the United States and NATO. My father and I often get into arguments with him over these things, and if it’s not about history, it’s usually politics (Kosovo, Ukraine, USA, etc). And for some reason he has a thing against France (he LOVES Corsica so maybe that’s why).
Oh this takes me back, not only my grandpa told me about the laser tanks, but he also told me that giants actually inhabited the Romanian tunnel system. Not only that, but him and my dad claim to have seen giants crossing an opposing hill, while they were doing field work kilometers away, of course, that most probably was the rachiu boiling in their heads cause of the summer heat.
The golden fleeces of Balkan conspiracy theories are undoubtedley Jovan Deretić and Goran Šarić. They’re, also, objectively, the funniest stand-up comedians in the Balkans. When I have a shitty day I make sure to put on a article of theirs and then read through the comment section and all of the pain goes away. It’s replaced by a crippling headache when I realize that there are people who believe in what they’re spouting, but I take a Brufen and then all is well again.
Finally I can add something to this article from Moldova’s perspective; I know two theories/legends. 1) Here in the north of Moldova are rumors that there are still some untouched Scythian kurgans and that one of the nobles hid the entire “Golden Bull” somewhere. Like literally 1 to 1 copy of a bull from pure gold, he still was not found, so you can come here and search for him. The secon theory is expanding “Dacian Tunnels.” So if I recall correctly, there is a 130-km tunnel leading to Hotin castle, and there are rumors about Stephan The Great using it to protect the northen border, and no one really knows where its entrances are, but it’s going right under the Briceni city in Moldova. An older man told me that somewhere 20+ years ago there was a rupture in the ground right in the middle of the city, and some people went to explore it. It’s really a tunnel, but very old, ancient, dark, and dusty, so no one really cared about that, and after a few months they sealed the gap. He also told me that some woman got really weak because she lived near the rupture, so an spider somehow went under her pillow from that tunnel, and when she lifted the pillow, there was some crazy spider in the size of 2 palms. She threw something hard on him, and the spider splashed with blood, so basically the spider fed up on her blood for 2 weeks. I’ve heard this story only from him, but the way he told it, I think there are other people who can prove his words. The origin of the tunnels is unknown; I only know that Stephan The Great used them; supposedly it’s one of the Dacian tunnels.
Alright, alright alright…You already had me at the angry clerk ladies….and now Balkan memes and conspiracy theories…I’m falling more in love with the Balkans the more I watch your articles. lol. I think I will visit the countries one day. Also, I think I’ve heard Serbs state that God is a Serb. It may be more of a saying than a conspiracy theory, but you would know better than me. XD
I love the one from Serbian tabloids about American earthquake machine and how Americans caused the tsunami in Indonesia. Apperantly Americans go around causing earthquakes then send most money to those places for reconstruction just for the hell of it. Also Maric and his guests somehow always seem to know every “state secret” from USA.
Aum shinrikyo cultists fleeing to Montenegro of all places still feels too absurd to be true. Aslo Anna Lewild made a article about Transylvania and the she said the trees in hoia were likely bend that way for use in furniture like chairs and likewise the patch with no trees is likely due to people trying to avoid being caught lumbering without a permit.
In the 90s Bulgarian military dig in the village of Tsaritchina for alien artifacts. Look it up, it’s a wild story. Shocked it’s not mentioned here. Also the Bulgarian conspiracy of Mount Gradishte. The daughter of the communist dictator Ludmila Zhivkova was leading an expedition in southern Bulgaria to dig up ancient Egyptian artifacts
the eminescu theory about him discovering relativity is actually something that we learned about in school but during a special physics class . it is true that eminescu was not a scientist but his poetry is highly related to relativity and there are many articles on youtube made by scientists who analyse eminescu’s poetry and argue that the poet encapsulated relativity in his poems but without being able to use concrete scientific facts
Speaking as someone who lives in Europe’s boot (Italy); i remember perusal a documentary about Sardinia where, at some point, the archeologist begins saying that the Pillars of Hercules are actually between Sicily and Calabria and that Plato described the Atlanteans as “Builders of Towers” which he believes he’s referring to the Nuraghe. Therefore, according to the Archeologist, the real ATLANTIS is SARDINIA.
In Bulgaria there is the tomb of an Egyptian priestess who served the goddess Bastet (with a cat’s head). The tomb is in Strandzha mountain and is even visited by tourists (I went there with a tour guide who worked in the local museum and is a very real legitimate archaeologist). According to a book that was popular in the 90s, it contained untold treasures – a huge amount of gold and Egyptian artifacts that were stolen by the Soviet military. The cave is currently flooded and cannot be entered.
We got a lot of weird stuff in Greece as well. A party that used to ride high a few years ago, “Assembly of Hellenes”, was headed by a former body builder and failed entrepreneur, who claimed that he has enough money to pay off Greece’s debt, but you’re an animal if you question how he got it, or if he has it at all. He was eventually arrested (he urged people to not pay taxes) and put in prison, but he was released, and his parole will probably expire in a few weeks. Then, we also have the energy triangle of Delos-Delphi-Dodona, because of course three random ancient holy sites need to be a divine triangle.
As a Bulgarian I have to assure you that Baba Vanga indeed has predicted EVERYTHING. It just has to happen first. Then someone will come out and suddenly remember that a friend of his, who knew someone who had a friend who knew Baba Vanga, indeed heard her predict that exact thing happening… but he forgot to tell us before it happened.
As a Serbian, the only things I now believe about pre medieval history, is that we are native to the Balkans and that there is an historical intermingling between our southern lands of today and the northern territories of today’s Greece. The rest is all “we wuz kangs” type mythology or outright bs.
The HAARP conspiracy theories picked up significant steam over here in Bulgaria in 2014 because it was a particularly bad summer in terms of storms and severe weather events. In my home of Stara Zagora at about the end of June there was a storm that came out of nowhere at like 3pm on a sunny day. Outside it was just blue sky with small white clouds and suddenly the whole sky was black and there was non-stop lightning (not even a second of pause) for 15 minutes straight. Wind was blowing so hard the trees in front of our block did a 90 degree angle and the visibility outside my window was no more than 2 meters before all you could see was water, debrees and electric bolts. It looked exactlylike being inside a tornado (which I later found out we were….). There was also the infamous Asparuhovo floods in Varna that killed at least a dozen people and injured many which led to the reconstruction of part of the city to have flood canals that carry water out of the streets into the sea. My wife is from there and she actually has pictures of the flood water reaching up to the 1st floor windows and a car sitting in a tree in front of their block. There was also massive storms and floods in dozens of other towns, cities and villages. Serbia, Bosnia, Macedonia and Romania didn’t have it much better from what I saw on the news then. It was so unnatural and so uncanny people didn’t wanna believe it’s real so we latched on to whatever explaination we can (i.e. the HAARP theory). In hind sight it was a once in a century catastrophic season.
A few weeks ago a guy tried to convince me, a Catholic nun, that Jesus was actually Hungarian because the Bible doesn’t talks about the Virgin Mary’s lineage. Needless to say, the guy was incredibly antisemitic, not just saying, that Mary and therefore Jesus must be Hungarian, because Hungarians are the best people, but also because he just can’t be Jewish, because they are the opposite and this is a classic Jewish conspiracy, that they claim Jesus as their own. Oh there is also Hungarians are actually the ancient Sumerians, but I don’t know enough about this to explain why the say this. I guess it’s our version of the Dacian sphynx or the Serbian pyramids.
There’s also the Turkish government promoting the theory that Turkic languages are cousins of Mongolic, Tungusic, and possibly Koreanic, Japonic, and even Ainu languages. It’s called Altaic and it’s been disproven for a while. The leading theory is that a long time ago the ancestors of these different people groups lived close together for a while, sharing words among eachother (what’s called a sprachbund). Or in other words, these languages were temporary roommates rather than true family.
The thing about the tunnels is that there have been found giant human skeletons inside them and for some reason (probably risks of usurpation or something) certain tunnels have been closed with cement and the waters around the entrances lethally poisoned. It’s also believed that there are seven energy spots on the planet (which might already be flat at this point), two or three of which located in the Carpathians. In the ’90s, there was a weird sect of “spiritual practitioners”. They called themselves “the yogins” (yoghinii) and they would gather anually in certain spots on the mountains and form a spiral, meditate, and then throw one member off the cliff. My mother and my god-mother almost got raped once when they didn’t know to avoid them during a vacation in Herculane. Mom says she saw some of them lifting their bodies off the ground in meditation, but I hadn’t even been born yet, so I cannot say. Don’t worry, they were quickly illegalised and they caught their head master, scattering the cult afterwards. Overall, these things just make some people believe weird things. P.P.S.: As a Romanian, my parents told me that the USSR did, in fact, attack us and that we did melt some of their tanks before they could even enter the country. But this attack is never mentioned in school History manuals and those advanced lasers are nowhere to be found today. We don’t even have printers in all town halls, so I doubt we had lasers in the ’70s.
My grandfather visited Baba Vanga when he was younger, my grandma was very ill and he wanted to get that reassurance in that moment. He didnt ever mention why he was there and he entered the room, she immediately told him to go home “your wife will be fine” and the only thing he said was greetings. She was fine. This is by his own words of the story and I dont think he would really exaggerate. It is correct that her word and much of what was predicted by her might be used in the wrong way or just plain propaganda in many ways. She is blind she cant write on her own.
There is a Bulgarian conspiracy called Дупката в Царичина, basically translated to The hole in Tsarichina (not sure of the transliteration there). It talks about there being a tomb of an ancient entity (I don’t recall if it was an alien or an other dimensional being or something else) that was hermaphroditic and maybe the ancestor of all humans (it’s been a while since I’ve heard the details, so I don’t remember everything) and it’s one of the wildest ones I’ve heard for our area.
Funny story about Vanga – she is a cousin to my Grandfather (they all fled that Macedonian region and relocated to Petrich – where she later moved to as well). Anyway – my Grandfather had 6 brothers – one of them escaped the communist country and fled to Australia to become a drummer. My family asked her if he will come back and she said – “He will come back on/in a building” – a few years back he did come back and they saw him crossing a bridge and coming home. It’s such a vague prophecy that it’s super easy to interpret as correct tbh but it was still a correct guess. I know she’s also popular in further slav countries like Ukraine and russia.
For part 2: -Mark Zuckerberg is of Bulgarian origin and is named after his grandpa – Marko. -The Trojan war was a Bulgarian Civil War -Anything that Bulgarian “historian” Ivan Trenev claims – my man says that the FBI was founded by design of the Internal Revolutionary Organisation (Vasil Levski’s organisation for liberation of Bulgaria) and many other gems.
There is a Turkish Youtuber/Writer/Historian (you know the gig) called Mehmet Berk Yaltırık. He is an academic dude who researched Balkan customs, legends, myths, etc. According to him, around 2000 something, a couple of dudes from Balkans (probably Serbs I don’t remember) dug a grave and staked a corpse. Yes, we are talking about old-school vampire staking here. This kind of belief systems are still active in this godforsaken region. Heck, we have something called “Cinci Hoca” in Turkey because some people still believe cins (genies) are real. **Yes this is not conspiracy theory I know, but whatever.
I can’t believe you didn’t mention the Царичина alien in Bulgaria. There are supposedly deep tunnels near Tsarichina and at the end of them dwells an alien (or it is already dead – I don’t remember). I remember people actually found them after the alien spoke to a local medium who wrote many pages of strange symbols and then interpreted them. Supposedly an expedition was started by the military but halted prematurely and the tunnels are now defended by military and possibly sealed off.
9:50 I have argued with romanians who genuinely believe with all their heart that latin is decended from the romanian language. They say that latin is derived from dacian and that the ancient daician kingdom inhabbited and controlled almost all of europe.. Including rome, that they built the pyrimids, that they are the only true natives of europe.. ect. They are completely out of their minds.
Here’s a famous one from Serbian history: King Milan Obrenović is the true father of Winston Churchill, who in turn is, by some other conspiracies, true father of Josip Broz Tito, which esentially makes Churchill’s and Tito’s descendants members of the Obrenović dynasty. Alhtough it probably isn’t true, it would make a heck of a movie, and it’s not totally baseless regarding King Milan and Churchill, since it’s confirmed that Milan had an affair with Churchill’s mother. While we’re at it, there are like 300 stories regarding Tito’s true origin, which ranges from him regrowing two fingers, carrying a briefcase which no one ever opened that contained some secret stuff, and the Churchill connection, to name a few.
5:20 they determined why the trees grow like that. They found a couple people in their 80s (at the time) who were alive when they tied down the saplings. They did this because they were manufacturing something from wood that had a curve in it so they thought maybe we can grow the wood with the curve naturally… didn’t really work apparently.
I remember Vanga when i was a kid, used to watch her on TV. She was the real deal. There were lines of people infront of her house almost daily and she used to call from time to time names of people back in the line to come ahead of everyone and tell them to go home because she cannot save the person from their family that is dying and they should go spend their last moments together instead of waiting in line. She did also predict the day she will die. The rest of the stuff that nowadays is on the internet with thousands of years of predictions is complete BS, i dont remember her ever saying anything like that.
