Fireball, the official mascot of Fire and Ice Heating and Air Conditioning, was born in Columbus, Ohio in 2004. His parents were red-drake dragons who loved to help others with their ability to breathe fire. The NFL and Dan Snyder launched Change The Mascot in 2013, but tensions still simmer in Massachusetts communities over the use of mascots depicting Native American imagery. In 2025, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will set a 750 global warming potential (GWP) limit for air conditioning, meaning R-410A, with R-410A being the EPA’s mascot, will be banned.
Several studies have found that mascots are harmful to the mental health of Native students and increase negative stereotyping of Native people in non-Native communities. The University of Illinois will drop its 81-year-old American Indian mascot, Chief Illiniwek, following the last men’s basketball home game of the season. In 2023, the state Board of Regents voted to ban the use of Native American mascots, logos, and team names for schools.
Heating and Air Conditioning decided to upgrade their mascot’s look, as actors wearing low-cost mascot costumes often suffer from high heat generated and concentrated inside their workspaces. The company created a cohesive brand for Cheeky Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing that the public would appreciate.
F.H. Furr has merged with Red Dog Heating, Cooling and Plumbing, offering a comprehensive range of HVAC repair, replacement, and maintenance services designed to meet all of your home heating and cooling needs.
