The Amulet of Mara is a necklace that allows you to cast spells from the Restoration school of magic for 10% less magicka. It also indicates to NPCs that you are available for marriage. To obtain the Amulet of Mara to get married in Skyrim, you can travel to Riften and purchase the necklace from Maramal, a priest of Mara.
If you are having trouble getting the amulet to work, go back to Maramal In Riften. Use ‘pickpocket’ to view his inventory and go to your inventory and ‘give’ him back the amulet.
To fix this bug, stash all stolen items that you wish to keep in a safe container and commit a small crime. Any mods that might be conflicting, either screwing up the amulet itself or making it look like you’re not wearing it for some reason, might have bugged it out.
Another possible fix for this bug appears to be removing the Amulet of Mara after speaking to Fenrig and traveling back to Ruki. If you bought it from him in the Bee and Barb, it might have bugged it out. Best thing to do is grab him in the Mara temple and mention to him. You would still need to talk to Maramal about marriage before the option becomes available. However, you don’t necessarily need his Amulet of Mara- any Amulet can be used to get married in Skyrim.
In summary, the Amulet of Mara is a necklace that allows you to cast spells from the Restoration school of magic for 10% less magicka. To get married in Skyrim, you must speak to Maramal at the temple of Mara in Riften and learn about marriage first.

Here is a bug that I found when trying to get married. It was easy enough to fix.
Why doesn’t my Amulet of Mara work?
Should you encounter difficulties in utilising the amulet, it would be advisable to return to Maramal in Riften and employ the ‘pickpocket’ function to peruse his inventory. In order to resolve the issue, navigate to your inventory and utilize the “give” function to return the amulet to Maramal. This is necessary because the amulet is not functioning as intended during the marriage dialogue.

To attend a wedding ceremony in Mara, wear the Amulet of Mara and arrive on time. The date is considered the same day as the previous day, and waiting inside the temple requires exiting and re-entering to trigger the wedding. If you miss the first ceremony, the priest will arrange a rescheduled one. If you wait two days, the wedding will be canceled and cannot be rescheduled. You must load the game or continue with your day, but you cannot attend another wedding ceremony if you miss the first one.

If you have any mods applied to your game, temporarily disable them to see if they resolve the issue. How may i help you my son. Lost the last one i gave you very well here you are mara keep you may you return to her benevolence …
Oh man, I remember encountering this bug. I was actually marrying lydia but I had 3 different dead ex companions and all 3 of them showed up, dead. I laughed so hard when I saw it happen, cos I could see exactly why the bug happened (Former companions turn up as guests. The game however doesnt check if they are alive. NPC wife thinks you killed people at the wedding, and is pissed over it). But yeah, took a bit of experimentation to fix that one lol
yea someone could’ve told me that if u marry Anwen a preistess at the temple of dibella in markarth that she will say she will move to your new place and will appear but will immediately leave she left the kids in myrwatch by themselves but made me a homecooked meal and gave 14,700 shillings because i could not find her after the marraige lol
My issue isn’t a body, it that the cutscene just doesn’t load. I’ve done the wait 2 hrs until the priest says “let the ceremony begin”, but nothing happens. When I try to activate the priest, he doesn’t say anything and the game says “this person is busy”. I have failed this “mission” 10 times and loaded to before I talked to the priest 20 times. I have waited at the stables, inside the chapel, in Riften, in Whiterun and got nowhere. Not even the second chance option works. Can someone tell me how to fix this??
after perusal this article while marrying irileth then i waited IN the temple, when it was tim Xor and the chef never came this time ( they were the wedding crashers who were fighting over a seat) btw Xor is this random follower who i dont even know but he is a deadric i know that because the face paint and the armor( just my luck)
Update to below text- it didn’t work. I tried this fix but then a whole new corpse just showes up failing the quest again. Even tried loading a much earlier save but it still did it. And of course you can only try it 2 times without reloading with the same person. After it seems like you can’t even ask them again. Or at least that’s been happening with my game. So all you’ve gotta do is move the body and try again? Cool, just ran into this while trying to Marry Aila the Huntress and thought I was soft locked.
Would you mind helping me with something? When I get to the part where I have to select the option to say, “I Do. Now and Forever”. I don’t get a option to say it, after the fiance does his/her part of saying it, no option dialogue appears. I’m currently using a custom race (Succubus Race by Nikitaa)
Well usally the only time anyone ever says there interested in you is when you wearing the Amulet of Mara.. then also if you do a quest for someone they might show interest.. so if both those are fullfilled you either glitched the game.. or thats one sadistic character… and kajit…KAJIT…not cat boy…thank you for your time.
