For the longest time, I never understood why crowd noise affected the game so much. I got that it was loud, but surely you could still make reads and go through your progressions. Then I went to the #13 LSU – #2 Georgia game of 2018 at Death Valley. articles and broadcasts just don’t do it justice. It gets so damn loud in these concave stadiums that it isn’t just intimidating, it’s disorienting. At one point, I genuinely had to cover my ears. It’s incredible. You can’t hear your own thoughts, as the noise drowns them out. You begin to understand why a wide open receiver could be completely unseen, or why a read option was completely misread. Fans have such a huge impact on the game, so much so that the die-hard culture of a team can overcome outstanding talent on any given day. Damn I love college football.
