Reading Tarot for yourself can be a valuable and impactful practice, as it allows you to connect with your intuition and find answers about various aspects of life. However, it is important to ground yourself with the understanding that this is not a psychic tool that can decipher lives.
There are no right or wrong ways to pull cards, but there is no right or wrong way to read Tarot cards. As you embark on your journey with tarot, it is essential to ground yourself with the understanding that it is not a psychic tool that can decipher lives.
Reading Tarot for yourself is practically required if you want to learn to read Tarot cards. It is a wonderful tool for self-discovery and getting in touch with your own intuition. While it is not recommended to read your own Tarot cards, pulling one card each morning is fine (and totally lovely). Overall, reading your own Tarot is a great way to check in with your intuition when you need it.
Tarot is a modality that helps us gain greater insight into our current situations, honor our intuition, and forecast potential. To learn to read Tarot for yourself and others, there is a radical new technique that will give you the power to read Tarot even without a deck. A Tarot guide for learning Tarot is available, and it is essential to be in a good mental space and calm your internal chatter as much as possible.
In conclusion, reading Tarot for yourself is a personal preference, but it is a valuable and impactful practice that can help you connect with your intuition and find answers about love, relationships, and life paths.

Do tarot cards really work?
Tarot readings can be an empowering and insightful tool for self-discovery and future direction. A professional tarot reader can help you understand your goals and desires, providing insight into your situation and guiding you towards the best actions for your love life, career, or other questions. They can also reveal the motivations of others and predict potential outcomes of decisions. A good tarot reading can provide clarity and help heal anxiety.
However, it is crucial to prepare thoroughly for your first reading to fully benefit from the experience. A good tarot reading can provide valuable insights into your future and help you make informed decisions.
Is it good to read tarot for yourself?
Tarot readings can be done by beginners, providing insight into current situations, honoring intuition, and forecasting potential outcomes. To begin, clean the energy of your space by burning herbs, ringing bells or chimes, taking a bath, or using crystals. A Selenite wand is a popular energy refresher that aids clarity.
Sit comfortably and close your eyes, focusing on the protective energy surrounding you. Take deep breaths, think about your question or needing guidance, and keep your mind and heart open to the answers that may come through the cards. Shuffle the deck, focusing on your desired query, and shuffle the cards in front of you. The pattern laid out is called a “spread”, and the meaning of each card in combinations builds up to the overall answer to your query.
Before beginning to shuffle, know which spread you will be working with. As answers come through, it’s important to draw additional cards for further clarity or start with a new question from a different perspective. Tarot readings can be a powerful tool for personal growth and understanding.
Is tarot card reading true?
Early French occultists claimed that tarot cards had esoteric links to ancient Egypt, the Kabbalah, Indic Tantra, or the I Ching. However, scholarly research reveals that tarot cards were invented in Italy in the early 15th century for playing games, and there is no evidence of significant use of them for divination until the late 18th century. The belief in the divinatory meaning of the cards is closely associated with a belief in their occult properties, which was propagated by prominent Protestant Christian clerics and Freemasons.
From its uptake as an instrument of divination in 18th-century France, the tarot went on to be used in hermeneutic, magical, mystical, semiotic, and psychological practices. It was used by Romani people when telling fortunes and as a Jungian psychological apparatus for tapping into “absolute knowledge in the unconscious”, a tool for archetypal analysis, and even a tool for facilitating the Jungian process of individuation.

Why don’t tarot cards work?
The interpretation of a tarot card depends on the questions asked, card combinations used, and spreads used. Standard card meanings may not be suitable for a specific context. It’s important to ask “How can I interpret this card in this specific reading?” instead of “What does this card mean?” This approach is not taught in courses like my Tarot Foundations program, which covers all 78 tarot cards.
How many tarot cards should you pull for yourself?
Tarot cards can be pulled one or three at a time, with the choice of three depending on the individual’s relationship with the cards. Interpretation is the final step in daily tarot pulls, as the cards do not predict the future but rather explain the current vibe. Tarot cards offer free will, allowing users to work with the information or choose not to. The deck contains 22 Major Arcana cards, numbered from 0-21, which are important and karmic lessons in life.
These cards point to big feelings, emotions, and decisions, starting with The Fool card, which signifies beginnings, and ending with The World card, which signifies endings. The cards are meant to provide insight or read situations for clarity when needed.
Is tarot reading worth it?
Tarot readings can be an empowering experience, even for those who may be skeptical about the cards holding the key to their future. A professional tarot reader can help you understand yourself and clarify your goals for your future. There are multiple benefits to a tarot reading, including insight into your situation, determining the best actions for your love life, career, or other questions, understanding others’ motivations, and reading potential outcomes of decisions.
A good tarot reading can also help heal anxiety. To maximize the benefits of a tarot reading, it is essential to prepare yourself with an open mind, avoid pre-judgments, and be willing to be surprised by what you discover. The cards may not always say what you want, but they can provide a different outlook that may expand your perception of your life.
Should you pull your own tarot cards?
Reading your own tarot is a valuable tool for checking in with your intuition when needed. It can help identify your current needs, address questions, or provide direction in planning. However, it’s important to know when not to use tarot cards, as some questions are best addressed by mental health or medical professionals. Additionally, asking direct questions to someone is more effective than relying on a tarot card reading.
Not every question can be answered by a tarot card reading, and cards cannot provide a direct answer. Nonetheless, reading your own tarot can be a useful way to check in with your intuition about certain questions.
Is it safe to read tarot cards?
Tarot cards, like other metaphysical tools, are as safe or dangerous as the messages they deliver. They provide clues into the subconscious and are not harmful themselves. The Tarot is often linked to witchcraft, as many practicing witches use it. However, not all witches use the Tarot. The Tarot is a divination tool used by witches to derive more symbolism and understanding for specific questions. Witchcraft and Tarot can co-exist separately, and reading Tarot does not necessarily mean practicing witchcraft. Both practices involve active engagement with intuition.
Can I learn tarot on my own?
Tarot reading is a powerful tool for understanding one’s relationship with the world around them. The deck consists of 78 cards, divided into 22 Major Arcana cards and 56 suits with different energies. Each card has a unique interpretation and takes on new meaning when combined with others. Professional readers can provide guidance on this journey, as everyone has their own tips. Keeping track of your tarot pulls can help identify patterns and themes to pay attention to.
As a professional astrologer and tarot reader, taking notes on your cards can help you identify patterns and themes that may be causing you to draw attention. Experts have provided tips for beginners and experts alike, ensuring a successful and enjoyable experience with tarot reading.
Should you pull a tarot card daily?
One method of establishing a practice of tarot is to pull a card each morning and record one’s thoughts and reflections on it in a journal. Additionally, touching the cards may prove advantageous. Nevertheless, a more elaborate configuration, such as an Instagram tarot spread, may offer a more visually appealing alternative. A well-executed morning tarot spread is an excellent way to commence the day with a tarot reading, instilling a sense of excitement and anticipation.

Kino…. this is so amazing! I literally bought a tarot deck and a few oracle decks for myself the other day and it just arrived over an hour ago, and I’ve been getting used to my cards. And I felt a bit overwhelmed because I’ve not focused on this much energy before and decided to take a break. I come onto youtube and POOF, a new article from you about reading for myself! The universe really works wonders.
I pulled a card for you. I asked for advice regarding your future success. I bridge shuffled five times in a reversed format with my RW tarot deck. I pulled knight of cups upright with the knight of pentacles upright under the deck. You’re already on the right path on your grounded intuitive sense in balance with your intuitive/emotional strengths alongside your financial and physical abundance. I foresee a solid stream of comfortable success for you regarding your future successions, however, with all that yellow surrounding you along with the light blue. You know this full well as it is. You’re a solid young woman, continue to hold this fortune in your hands.
OMG I just literally bought my first ever tarot deck in my life and been learning to read it for the first time!! So happy to learn tips from my favourite tarot reader as I LOVE how you read and your unique way of telling an insightful, deep and compassionate story every single time using just a few cards!! I wanna say, I adore your pick a card articles but I also really appreciate you making articles like this and sharing your tips in spiritual knowledge. I think you are a great teacher, please keep making them, I love learning from you ❤️
I really love that method for giving an unbiased reading for yourself at the end with the three different readings! Thank you so much for sharing this, Kino! 🙏☺️ I’ve been reading cards for years but find it hard to read for myself for the fear of being biased. I feel like this method is going to be a game changer for me. Yet again my guides were right in leading me to this article! ✨ Thanks again! 😊💜
Kino, thank you so much for this content! I purchased my deck sometime last fall- like around September I believe, and I’ve had trouble connecting with my deck ever since. I watched this last night and it was not until this morning that I felt a massive shift in how I read and saw my cards. You suggested asking questions that we already know the answers to and that really gave me the confidence and self-trust I needed. & As an over thinker, that was the gentle push I needed! 3 other tips that helped tremendously are: 1) it’s okay to sit with the card and to give yourself as much time as you need interpreting it 2) trust your instant gut feeling 3) everyones process is different, and So learn in the best way that works for you! Thank you for the lessons & confirmations! ✨
Thank you so much Kino! I was in a rut and feel defeated when i read tarot because i was doing someone else’s reading just now. After i watch your article, i took your advice and read for myself and i could easily understood the reading. I didnt look for the meaning of the cards and just interpret it myself. Thank you so much, this was really helpful!!!
Just order the Angel deck tysm 😊 you were immensely helpful..For me I started with cards in my early 20’s..but only ever read myself, as a person with psychic insight ( hate labels) find its a way for me to help maybe convey the messages I get in a different way. I haven’t found anyone that’s explained it as well as you..love 🦋🌬 this
Thank you so much for this article Kino❣️ The information and tips you shared are so helpful and inspirational… I can’t wait to put the skills you shared to the test. I am especially looking forward to trying your experiments (which I thought were pure genius by the way) I am honestly truly grateful. I believe this article will really help me read better for myself & others. 🤍🕊🤍 Sending love from 🇬🇧
1. Don’t use too many cards. Use 3 cards + 1 clarifier for each card 2. Use common sense but not too much. It’s difficult to read for yourself. Be open, crazy shit can happen. Don’t be too logical. Stay open minded. Ask your guides to show you cards for certain situations. 3. Don’t assign only 1 meaning to a card. Cards have multiple meanings. 4. 1st thing that comes to your mind is usually the right meaning. 5. Ask something that’s going to happen in near future. 6. Hypothetical readings.
Kino, love your intro la-la’ing. lol 🎵🎵🎶🎵 (I havent tried using the Cards to find my lost junk. Im going to try it instead of my pendulum to see how it goes. ^_^ ) Also this article was so great… 20:00 Intuition whispers, Anxiety/Ego screams (What a great T-shirt that would make!! 👕) Love it, gonna use that to explain it to others when they ask how to ‘hear’ their intuition – You cant hear whispering unless you quiet your mind. Who can hear low-talkers if loud-talkers are busy shouting their opinions?! Thanks for making this article, it was such a nice reminder for intuitive t-card/signs from Universe reading for self n others. Hugs 🤗💚💚💚
Thank you so much for sharing your tips, Kino and Eso! It came at such a great time – I still struggle with impostor syndrome when I read for myself or other people, though recently it seems like it’s getting more and more relevant and accurate. Just a question, may I know what the difference between reading tarot and oracle cards are for you? Thank you xx
Hi Kino! This is exactly the kind of article I’ve been wanting from you, so thank you so much for creating it! I’m about halfway through but I wanted to stop and ask a question. You said you associate the 7 of Swords with the internet and social media. Can you share where that association comes from for you?
I’m curious: if every time I receive a reading on any topic (job, home, family, love, karma, my day, my past life, literally anything) with any deck from any reader including myself, it seems to be the same group of cards in similar arrangements all clearly outlining a love situation I recently experienced – am I just unable to see anything else in the cards or can spirit actually just keep sending you the same message over and over again no matter what you ask if it’s something you’re needing to process?
