Aidan Kavanagh, OSB, was a prominent figure in American Catholic liturgiology, known for his work on liturgy, rites of initiation, and liturgical theology. He founded the doctoral program in liturgical studies at Notre Dame and served as professor of liturgics at the Yale Institute of Sacred Music. Kavanagh’s approach to liturgy significantly influenced the implementation of the Western rite.

Kavanagh’s texts on liturgy, rites of initiation, and liturgical theology made him a significant figure in American Catholic liturgiology. His research has led to a pastoral manual for clergy who preside at liturgical celebrations.

Kavanagh believed that it was the interaction of everyday Christians with the world that gave rise to liturgies that reflect and sustain a public order. He focused on the ritual of liturgy and the rites of initiation rather than the rites of passage.

In his dissertation, Kavanagh explores the liturgical theology of the late Aidan Kavanagh, OSB, and how his particular approach to liturgy helped shape the implementation of the Western rite. He also looked not beyond rubrics but deep into their historical and pastoral existence to develop rules of style.

In conclusion, Aidan Kavanagh’s work on liturgy, rites of initiation, and liturgical theology has had a profound impact on the Catholic Church and its liturgical practices.

  • Jacob’s honestly the best character, imo. His quips are actually fun and fit the moment, he’s extremely nice, caring and both sympathetic and empathetic, anytime someone dies he asks his mom in Heaven to make them feel warm and welcome, he’s always talking to his mom and reassuring her he’ll be okay and won’t end up with her anytime soon, and so on.

  • So many games have missions that take place on a movie set, or something similar and just don’t take advantage of the set pieces you can create when you have a level like this. The devs for Dead Island 2 nailed this area. The variety in Monarch studios is great, you have the actors still dressed in their WW2 army outfits, you have the actors painted like tribesmen, you can even find boom operators and film crew members. You have an area where sitcoms get filmed, a faux jungle, the spider over the diner, the attention to detail and them just having fun with the set pieces made it one of my favorite areas in the game despite it not being very big.

  • thats like the charm of the character, there is Carla: a street fighter who really love fights, Dani: Punk girl, someone who never miss a party, Amy: I think she is more like XXX movie character (I mean Vin Diesel ones) extreme sports, Ryan: action guy, fireman his only ocupation for real is your safe from the bad situation, Bruno: a kid like all the players of this game maybe with a little more than luck and finally, Jacob: movie guy, is like the more oldest than the others experience seen some kind of stuff like this

  • It also probably is due to his reported and shown love and intervention in the movie biz (as mentioned by his stories of perusal movies with his mom). Jacob used to be a Stuntman before the outbreak happened. Although he is reportedly pretty smart, having been a sucessfull broker in the London Stock Exchange before moving to LA.

  • Jacob is literally a man of Hollywood. Well known stuntman means he knows the ins and outs of the industry and is very self aware of it. That’s why he sees everything as if it’s a movie in the whole game. This is why I like his below Carla who is just pretty much me in a woman’s body just on how high enthusiasm since I am a party goer from time to time whenever the bois are not gaming lmao

  • Everyone says “I’m not telling anyone” as if everybody else wouldn’t go through this. Reminds me of a certain Russian anecdote: Two Georgian men decided to get a haircut. The first one walks into the barbershop, the barber shaves and trims him everywhere, after which asks: – Do you want to do Caravello? – Sure, why not, my friend. The barber then bends the man down and “visits the back door”. The second one walks in, also gets shaven and trimmed, after which he’s asked: – So? Do you want to do the Caravello? The Georgian hesitates for a second: “what is it?” – Eh, I guess. The barber does the same. The two men silently walk out of the barber shop and march on like that for some time. Finally, one breaks the silence: – My friend, listen, did they do you the Caravello? – No. – Weird, they didn’t do it to me either.

  • Jacob is my favorite and has the best dialogue and personality to me and is the only character so far that I resonate with and don’t find insufferable or exasperating. For some reason I find Jacob’s dialogue to be just always constantly consistently great and always makes me smile, and this is just one of many examples of why I find all the other characters annoying and don’t like a lot of their cringey dialogue/voice acting.

  • this will get very personal… I packeta Jacob, because i’m also called Jacob, thought that it would be fun to play as a character with my name. At first i was like ok this dude is really weirdly but the more i played as him, the more i enjoyed him, because i felt like i couldnt understanding him. He often makes weird out of touch jokes that may seem inappropriate but i realised that it’s his coping mechanism. Like he is acting all cool and above it all but then he talks about his mum, and it felt like he is scared shitless but he does the only think he can, which is stupid jokes. And he talks about his mum so much, because he is proud of himself for not being complete trash human bring Idk, it’s the forst time i played as a character that actually acted like i would

  • Jacob is honestly the best character in the game bc his voice lines fit the given scenario he finds himself in & he often talks to his mom when facing adversity & often tells his mom to not worry about him joining her anytime soon, knowing that she’s perusal over him & can hear him basically tell his mom to be welcoming & make those that “joined” her comfortable when they get there. It’s really sweet tbh

  • My list for top 3(kinda 4) is 1. Jacob (acts dumb and thuggish but is clearly the brains.) 2. Ryan (most down to earth and actually has an unselfish reason to want to go outnand escape) 3. Bruno and Amy (tho i dont like their playstyle i love there personalities both smart, caring but also willing to be abit dickish when needed)

  • Lol, my reaction when I first saw the doors were “So he went through those fake elevator doors.” but when Ryan said “He must’ve taken this Elevator” and the prompt told me to “wait for the elevator” I was like “Wait, it’s a REAL Elevator? That must’ve cost a fortune” but when the doors open I was “I KNEW IT!” and laughed harder than I probably should’ve.

  • “It’s like The Lion, The Witch, And The Looking Glass” …so Jacob is well-read enough to know the true names of the first books in the Chronicles of Narnia series (“The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe”) and the Alice in Wonderland series (“Alice Through The Looking Glass”), but for some reason is combining the two into a single incorrect title…

  • Actually no he’s not. They make u think he is the only smart one at first until he says “it’s like the Lion the Witch and the looking glass”. Refering to the first narnia book “the Lion the witch and the wardrobe” he mixes up with Alice in Wonderland or “Through the looking glass”. He’s mayube less naive but definitely as stupid as everyone 🤣

  • I love them all for their own reasons. I personally don’t care about deep character moments because this is no longer the “backwards zombie family trailer” Dead Island. This is a caricature of LA where the point is that everyone is on some crackhead energy or just thinking “wow these famous folks fucking suck lmao” 24/7. So I didn’t really mind if a character was dumb or not, they all have really good lines one way or another

  • I like how this article is about character intelligence and every comment is about their personality as if that’s the same thing. Could someone who is intelligent tell me if their personalities are as amazing as these people say their are? Can’t say I was ever…idk…attached or obsessed with a zombie game characters personality.

  • I’m super disappointed at Dead Island 2, The only decent Characters they made are Bruno and Ryan. they reacted to each of the scenarios realistically without one liners and “Marvel” dialogue, they are not trying to be quirky or unique they just want to get out of the situation and scared like in a real zombie apocalypse. In the original Dead Island 1 the dialogue of the characters started off scared and terrified, later on when they unlocked some of the skill trees they become confident at their abilities to survive. now its just garbanzo. Millenial Writing and Marvel cinematic universe and its consequences have been a disaster for the Human race.

  • I think the environmental storytelling and how the characters react to those things is so weirdly disconnected, like playing as Amy in the pier I discovered the mutilated remains of a child and several others in the funland arcade which has a prompt over it that makes your character react to the scene, Amy goes “I’m pretty sure the school cafeteria served this” like what?! Your looking at the remains of a child! React like a normal friggin person for the love of god! It weirdly highlights how the VA’s didn’t get to see the actual game because some of the reactions are just really off
