The AcuRite Atlas outdoor sensor requires a simple cleaning process to ensure proper functioning. To clean the sensor, remove the batteries, detach the black rain bucket from the bottom half of the sensor, and remove any insects, cobwebs, or debris. Use a damp cloth to clean off the internal tipping cups and drip pan. If the rain gauge is reporting 0 inches of rain when it has been raining all day, it may be clogged, preventing the internal tipping cups from recording rainfall.
To repair an AcuRite weather station’s outside sensor, look for cracks and clean the solar panels and fix orientation. Clean gutters and rain bucket, and check the batteries after the winter months. If the weather sensor is not reading wind speed, it may be due to corrosion in the spring connectors. To clean the battery springs, scrape as much corrosion out as possible and apply vinegar with a bit of lubricant.
If the weather sensor is not recording the outside temperature, it may be necessary to replace the tipping assembly. Check the batteries and ensure they are in good working order. If the weather sensor is not reading wind speed, it may be due to a clogged rain gauge. To maintain the functionality of your AcuRite Atlas or AcuRite Iris weather station, check for damage and clean it after the winter months.

Why is My AcuRite weather station not reading correctly?
To correct inaccurate temperature or humidity readings, ensure the display unit and AcuRite Iris® (5-in-1) sensor are placed away from heat sources, moisture sources, and at least 5 feet off the ground. The display should display 4 full bars of signal strength. Perform the AcuRite Iris® (5-in-1) reset before proceeding. For High Definition display units, use the reset provided. If the temperature or humidity readings are incorrect, follow the provided instructions.
How do you lubricate AcuRite weather station?
To lubricate the AcuRite Iris® (5-in-1) sensor, remove the screw below the wind cups and spray a small amount of lubricant into the hole. Tip the sensor upside down and right side up several times. Reinsert the screw into the hole. If the sensor doesn’t have a screw below the wind cups, apply the lubricant directly to the spindle underneath the wind cups. If the sensor isn’t reporting wind speed, perform a hard reset.
How often do you change the battery in an AcuRite weather station?
AcuRite advises the utilisation of new, premium-grade, branded lithium batteries in outdoor settings with low temperatures below 4°F (–20°C) to guarantee optimal performance and a minimum battery lifespan of five years.
How do you clean an AcuRite sensor?
To clean your AcuRite Atlas outdoor sensor, remove the batteries, detach the black rain bucket, remove insects, cobwebs, or debris, clean the internal tipping cups and drip pan with a damp cloth, and wipe the tipping cups with car wax to ensure smooth rainwater flow. Reattach the rain bucket to the sensor’s bottom and reinstall the batteries. To protect against insects, place a mothball near the tipping cups with tape. For AcuRite Iris (5-in-1), follow these steps to clean your rain gauge sensor.
Why does my AcuRite weather station keep losing signal?
Loss of Signal alerts are generated when AcuRite sensors fail to send readings to My AcuRite® due to battery power issues or inability to send data. To use an AcuRite Access®, ensure the sensor is within the device’s wireless range and has an internet connection. My AcuRite® continuously monitors network communication, wireless connection, battery level, and operating status of your AcuRite Access®, PC Connect Display, or Direct to Wi-Fi Display.
System Alerts alert you when a Connection Device needs your attention, such as when a sensor reading has not been received for over two hours. Your AcuRite devices are the core of the My AcuRite® monitoring solution, so you can only silence System Alert notifications.
How do you maintain the AcuRite weather station?
Maintaining your AcuRite Atlas, AcuRite Iris, or AcuRite Notos weather station year-round is crucial for its longevity and accurate weather measurements. Clean the entire unit twice a year using a damp rag, soap, and warm water to remove bugs, spiders, and spider webs. Clean the battery contacts and compartments before installing them, and dispose of used batteries in an environmentally safe way by following local laws and regulations.
Lithium batteries are recommended for outdoor temperatures below -4°F (-20°C), while alkaline batteries are recommended for areas above that mark. Replace batteries at least every 12 months or sooner if there is a lack of weather readings on your indoor display.

While spring cleaning is important, your weather station could benefit from some TLC at any point of the year to continue providing accurate hyperlocal weather information. If you still need assistance, visit the support website for helpful articles and a live chat with a local employee. Happy spring cleaning!
Why does my AcuRite weather station keep going offline?
The Access model 09155M has a light on its front that represents the device’s status. To ensure proper functioning, it is crucial to ensure the Access is at least 3 feet away from other electronics, including the router, as wireless interference can occur. Additionally, there should be a My AcuRite® compatible sensor powered on within 330 feet of the Access. If an AcuRite sensor is needed, it may need to be brought within 3 feet of the Access for re-pair.
If the sensor is offline, it is recommended to pair it with the Access and check its batteries. If one or more sensors are offline on the My AcuRite® Dashboard or receive a Loss of Signal alert, it is essential to follow the suggested solutions.
How do you maintain an automatic weather station?
Automatic weather stations are devices that collect and record meteorological data, including temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed, wind direction, and precipitation. These sensors can monitor and transmit information on atmospheric conditions in real time. They can be stationary or portable and are used in various environments, including agriculture, aviation, meteorological research, disaster warning, and sporting events. These stations work by collecting data on atmospheric parameters through sensors and sending it via radio or wired communications to a central database or directly for real-time monitoring.
They can operate independently or be synchronized with a wider meteorological network to provide more comprehensive weather information. Regular inspection and cleaning of sensor surfaces are essential for maintaining the accuracy of measurement accuracy.
How long should a weather station last?
Weather stations are particularly challenging to maintain in harsh environments like coastal, marsh, or wetland due to the risk of corrosion from salt air, salt spray, and acidification. These conditions can cause damage to bearings, sensor boards, and other moving parts, resulting in a product life span of 1-3 years. Ambient Weather’s sensors are conformal coated to prevent corrosion. Digital thermometer and hygrometer sensors, which rely on metal resistance, can also cause corrosion. In high humidity environments, they can last 7-10 years. Additionally, hurricanes and tropical storms can reduce a weather station’s lifespan.

Describes cleaning an acurite weather station after about a year since a previous cleaning/repair.
Hi Robert.:) I just replaced my batteries as they were low and when it’s cold it stops functioning. Anyway, after replacing the batteries it would not reconnect so after 7 years I’ve taken it inside to pull it apart and check it out. (I have a new station should things turn for the worst!) Might as well clean all the mould off the cover too, and it’ll look like brand new again. Yeah, I’ve got a spare wind cup, but the old one is still okay. I will let you know how I go with it. Thank you for your article about the screw location/s. 😀 (that was what had me stumped)….. Greetz from Mick Victoria, Australia.
I’ve had problems with spiders spinning webs that cause the rain detector to stop working. It’s amazing how little it takes to stop the pivot action. It seems like fall is the worst time of year. In the very front of the bottom half, I place a couple moth balls secured with strips of duct tape. That seems to prevent the problem until the mothballs evaporate.
