  • One thing not really mentioned is the compatibility and the affinity of specific wands for various spells. some wands can help boost the effects of charms, offensive, defensive, crafting magic. A wizard will obtain their first wand but as they mature and as their interests change they will switch wands that better suit their abilities and interests. Voldemort was after the wand with the greatest offensive potential and eventually obtained it and it greatly enhanced his ability to cast offensive spells. The goblins might be envious of wands because using the right wands could vastly increase their efficiency with certain spells. Given their high aptitude with magic it could put them above wizards. Unlike Harry who had his wand choose him Ron got hand me down wands from his family which were not ideal and cause him a great deal of trouble.
