Can A Character In Fire Emblem Three Houses Use Spells?

In Fire Emblem: Three Houses, spells are unique abilities that can only be used in magic-based classes. Characters with a high skill level in Reason and Faith can obtain unique spells based on their current proficiency. These spells can only be used when they are battling in magic-based classes. Characters can learn spells by increasing their Reason (Black and Dark magic) and Faith (White magic) skill levels.

In Fire Emblem: Three Houses, all types of characters have unique abilities, including different magic spells. However, not all characters can learn magic. A tool for calculating all character learnable abilities and spells is available. Only commoner, noble, monk, mage, priest, dark mage, bishop, warlock, dark bishop, enlightened one, mortal savant, dark/holy knight, gremory, and dancer can use spells.

Magic is limited by class, but weapons are not. An accessory later on allows a class to use magic. All units are capable of learning magic, but whether or not they can use it depends on the type of element types. Adding specific classes for element types could benefit the variety of spells, separating white magic into offensive, deffensive, and support types.

Items can be equipped from the inventory, similar to other characters’ items. Characters without something unique about their spell list can effectively stop learning magic at rank C, while their black magic can be used for various purposes. In Fire Emblem: Three Houses, magic is learned on a unique, character-by-character basis, with some characters having large spell lists.

Can any class use magic in Fire Emblem Three Houses?

The ability to utilize spells is not universal; rather, it is limited to specific categories of individuals. These include, but are not limited to, commoners, nobles, monks, mages, priests, bishops, warlocks, enlightened ones, mortal savants, dark knights, Gremory, and dancers. Additionally, only those belonging to the Magic class are permitted to perform spells.

Can warrior class use magic?

Elden Ring is a game that features various classes, each with unique strengths and weaknesses. The Warrior class has strong stats, including Dexterity, Intelligence, Faith, and Arcane, and starts the game with two scimitars. It is less good at defense but can attack quickly. The Vagabond class is another good option for those new to Elden Ring, starting with high Vigor and good armor. The Hero class begins with high Strength, Endurance, and Vigor, and starts with a shield and an axe.

The Bandit class has the highest Arcane stat, making it ideal for looting. The Samurai class has high dexterity, making them good use of the katana and bow they begin with. They have powerful armor, high Vigor, and Endurance, making them last in fights.

The Astrologer class is a powerful magic class with Intelligence as its highest stat, and their Mind stat is also high, providing plenty of FP to cast Sorceries. However, they may struggle in close combat due to lackluster stats and starting gear. The Prophet class, similar to the Astrologer, uses Pyromancies and Miracles in Incantations, and its strongest stat is in Faith.

The Confessor class has high Faith and is equally good with Strength or Dexterity weapons, making it a magic/melee hybrid class. They start at level 10, the highest level of all the classes. The Prisoner class starts with fashionable headgear and has Intelligence and Dexterity, making it a great hybrid of magic and melee.

The Wretch class is not for beginners, starting at level 1 with all stats even, no armor, and only a club for a weapon. It is meant to be a challenge for veteran players and a blank slate for those who want to allot every single stat point manually. It is great for players who want a challenge or to build a character the way they want. Otherwise, it is better to choose another of Elden Ring’s many classes.

Which class should Byleth be?

The Mercenary class, despite not being the strongest, is well-suited for Byleth due to his strong affinity for strength and sword fighting. Mercenaries use speed and strength to defeat opponents, making Byleth well-suited for this class. Mercenaries should not be a destination class, but rather a choice for players pursuing stronger abilities. During the game’s early stages, Byleth should be able to deal with most enemies. Despite being well-suited for becoming an Assassin, Byleth has all the attributes needed to make the class shine. Swordfaire enhances his strength and sword skills, improving attack by +5.

Can Edelgard be a Dancer?

Edelgard, the leader of the Black Eagles, is a prime candidate for a Dancer due to her high Charisma stat and high speed. However, her average Dexterity may cause her to struggle in this role. Edelgard’s magical prowess would complement dancing, making her a good support role. She is better suited for a straightforward damage-dealer role. To recruit Edelgard, the player must be in the Black Eagles house and side with her in Chapter 11, or she becomes unusable.

Can the mercenary class use magic?

Magic-based classes, such as monk, cannot use magic. Your IP address has been temporarily blocked due to a large number of HTTP requests. Common causes include the latest version of the Opera browser sending multiple invalid requests to servers for every page visited, using the Brave browser or Ghostery add-on, which send extra traffic to servers for every page visited, and using GameFAQs regularly with these browsers can cause temporary or permanent IP blocks.

Some unofficial phone apps may use GameFAQs as a back-end, but they do not behave like a real web browser, triggering anti-spambot measures. Continued use of these apps may cause IP block indefinitely.

Other common causes include using scripts or add-ons that scan GameFAQs for box and screen images, running a “scraper” or “downloader” program, using poorly configured browser add-ons for blocking content, and overusing the search engine with large searches in a short amount of time. If you promise to stop, the connection will be unblocked for now, but will be re-blocked if additional bad behavior is detected.

Who has a crush on Byleth?

Dimitri, a character in Three Houses, is infatuated with Byleth from the start and relies on her for emotional support and guidance. Byleth confides in Dimitri about his need for revenge and violence after his youth trauma, and their understanding and compassion may be what ultimately saves him later on. Dimitri’s tragic storyline highlights the emotional impact of his fall from idealistic chivalry to traumatized bloodlust. Byleth’s determination to reach out to him and Dimitri’s devotion to her help him find himself and heal.

Jeritza, a free DLC character, initially exceeded expectations with his unexpected sweet tooth, angsty backstory, and incredible combat prowess. His availability as a romance for both Byleths was welcomed by many fans.

Can Paladin use magic Three Houses?

The statement is erroneous insofar as it asserts that Paladins are unable to utilize magical abilities.

Are there romance options in Fire Emblem: Three Houses?

Fire Emblem: Three House romances allow players to form relationships with other characters, but this page focuses on Byleth’s involvement. The Support system displays relationships with each character, ranging from C to S, with S-Support being the highest rank. In most cases, S-Support indicates a romantic pairing between Byleth and the character, including the possibility of getting married.

Can paladins use spells?

The Paladin table displays the number of spell slots available for casting spells. To cast a spell of 1st level or higher, you must expend a slot of the spell’s level or higher. All expended spell slots are regained after a long rest. To prepare a list of available spells, choose a number equal to your Charisma modifier + half your paladin level, rounded down. The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots. For example, a 5th-level paladin with a 14 Charisma can have four 1st or 2nd-level spell slots. Casting a 1st-level spell doesn’t remove it from your list of prepared spells.

Can dancers use magic in Fire Emblem 3 houses?

In Three Houses, the Dancer class is not unique to any character but only one can access it during a playthrough. The class has proficiency in Swords, Authority, Reason, and Faith magic. It is the first game where male characters can be Dancers. The class is unlocked after a student wins the White Heron Cup, which requires a student with at least 13 Charm before the third week of the Ethereal Moon. If the student loses the contest, access to the class is permanently lost.

Some Battalions in Three Houses include Dancers in their ranks, such as the Blue Lion Dancers and Empire Holy Magic Users. A speaking portrait for generic Dancers can be viewed when hiring these Battalions. NPC Dancers also exist in Abyss.

In Engage, Seadall is the first male character in series history with a Dancer base class. The Dancer class can fight using arts and equip arts scrolls as their weapon. Units equipped with the Ring of the Instructor gain access to traditional Dancer class abilities, including the Engage Attack Goddess Dance.

  • I think you may have underrated the utility of Bolting and Meteor. Having Constance and Dorothea Being able to delete an enemy across the map 2-4 times while giving support to ally units makes me always reclass them as Gremory. I also think Dark Knight is a lot better than Valkyrie, since it has 1 more Movement and Tomefaire.

  • I like the Valkyrie pick for Lysithea, I thought the same for her. I’ve always been of the opinion that she only needs two things: magic and range. Don’t bother doubling the enemy, don’t bother surviving hits, invest full into her one-shot potential from as safe distance as possible. If she sees enemy phase action, you’re not playing to her strengths. With this approach I managed to keep her one-shotting evemies even in Maddening, and that was pre-DLC classes as just Gremory.

  • My ng+ Gremory Manuela was such a beast, I absolutely recommend! It’s a fun class for her. Utility warp and Insane range with Bolting, Manuela was really fun to use. And I see the argument in dark knight, but Warlock Hanneman is worth considering for 2 meteors. It’s not necessary at all (like how warp isn’t either) but it’s nice to have. I think Sniper is his most powerful magic class (lol) but Warlock isn’t bad, also I find that I end up NOT using the mov stat increase items sometimes, but giving the plus 1 or 2 mov to Hanneman as a warlock is absolutely fine If I don’t want to go great knight and keep someone as a fortress knight I’ll give them the +2 mov, but Warlocks can benefit from that increased range for positioning. It’s not a bad option, just saying (idk why FE fans always want to fight… “here’s why you’re dumb, use Wyverns” actually, I didn’t ask?)

  • Once, I can find myself agreeing to most placements, but still, there are a few alterations I would make. 1. Manuela as Trickster – I have no other reason but the struggle to have to get her to A or at least close to it in reason from Lvl. E when she has a weakness in it. And all that struggle for a mediocre magic user with no real strengths and in the worst case, a higher STR than MAg she can barely utilise as Gremory. Trickster, on the other hand, is a class that utilises her high speed growths and same STR and MAG growth rates with barely any disadvantage in comparison to the Gremory. 2. Bernadetta as Dark Knight – My simple reasoning for that is that the Dark Flier doesn’t give any MAG growth boosts. And while her base growths aren’t good, her STR also isn’t. So in order to utilise her surprisingly good spell list a class is required that gives her boosts in that and also a high mobility as she isn’t exactly defensively strong. The Dark Knight is a good option as access to it is relatively easy for Bernadetta, especially if you train her as mage from the beginning, what can be a better choice than what you would think. 3. Constance as Dark Flier – As Constance is the character in the game with the lowest overall growth rates by far, all her stats other than magic may cause problems. As Dark Flier she gets more mobility as she can attack, and then flee regardless of the surrounding terretory, a huge advantage for a character that is too fragile to take a hit and too slow to dodge consistently or not get doubled.

  • I generally really like Flayne in Dark Flier. 55% magic growth is fine by itself, especially w/Fiendish. Most of her reason magic is very light, and with darting blow and DF’s speed mod, she has a decent chance of doubling ‘slow to average’ enemies. Not having 2x white magic uses sucks, but with Rescue I tend to find positioning is more important than maximum casts. Theoretically, Trickster would be better for the better speed mods and growth, but no Faire, low mobility and half magic casts just kills my interest in that class. I’d also say Gremory > Valkyrie for Constance. Since she has a crest you can slap Thrysus on her without consequence. And I’d rather have 4 12-range Boltings than 2 13-range Boltings. Especially since Valk only has 1 more movement than Gremory anyway. I do like grabbing uncanny blow from Valk though, because Constance’s Bolting accuracy in the late game plays out like she spent the entire time skip chugging Sangria.

  • couldn’t you have just put byleth in enlightened one? and constance bolting spam is too good to not toss her into gremory in my personal opinion. Flayn I’ve had success with putting her in dark flier, her magic is middling regardless so her rescue range isn’t super interesting, and the issue with rescue is positioning the rescuer right, so i think dark flier lets her rescue units into wacky locations they shouldn’t be in. Plus her Res is actually pretty good so you can do some funny stuff with transmute.

  • honestly i think hilda’s reason spell list is actually pretty solid, thunder can hit shit that’s far away, thoron can hit shit that’s farther away, and bolting can hit shit that’s even farther away. though honestly i have no idea why fe16 insists on giving good spells to units that dont actually benefit from them much because their magic sucks. like recover is on three units that could benefit from faith LOL

  • I’d say just about everyone is better in War Monk than Trickster tbh. But is this considering cost effectiveness, because how the hell is Dorothea reasonably getting into a riding class? Besides her low growths, her biggest issue is her banes. With Lysithea, I’d generally keep her in Valkyrie or Dark Knight for better growths and damage, since both boost her magic while Dark Flier doesn’t have any stat boosts and black magic is worthless. As nice as two Warps sounds, it’s very rare that you will ever need more than one, even if your goal is LTC, making Gremory useful but situational. As for Constance, it doesn’t need to be her final class, but getting Valkyrie’s Uncanny Blow is great for her Boltings.

  • I find it weird that you put Edelgard in War Cleric but not some other units that are also clearly better suited as physical class (and have lower magic than Edelgard). Like Felix is really good at brawling. And Edelgard has a faith bane. Though you could argue that her magic capabilities will never reach what she can do physically. If we allow an unit to just go fully physical in a magical class.

  • I’d consider including dancer as a magic class and put in there Dorothea and Marianne. In Dorothea’s case, she has physic and meteor, but as a dancer what she’d do is dance and chip in some healing when needed with physic, while keeping meteor available for long range support. Marianne, on the other hand, can absolutely work as a dodge dancer, and she has physic to chip in extra heals. Give her the fetters and she can actually keep up with everyone else on the map while dancing.

  • Warlock is arguably the best magic class for Annette and Hilda, double uses on their Faith spells doesn’t mean much and Warlock has more attack power thanks to the Black Tomefaire. Gremory does have +1 move over it though. I’d rather put Bernadetta in a class with a big Magic modifier like Valkyrie or Gremory so her Rescue and Physic get more range. Speaking of, just about any girls with a half decent spell list can be a great Valkyrie or Gremory regardless of their Magic stat. “The best magic class” is never going to be Trickster or War Monk/Cleric imo, half magic uses sucks.

  • I like the way you talk through different options for characters,. I would love to see you do “How to Make X Really Good” articles like you did for Byleth a few months back – with different build options, but for all the characters. I feel like people often recruit/use characters for their personalities but sometimes drop them from the A team if they can’t figure out how to structure a build for them. Like what if you really want Petra but aren’t sure what direction to take a build for her? Plus, going over different options can help people keep units feeling fresh on different playthroughs.

  • I like mortal Savant for appearance, but when it comes to units, I’d just make them warlocks for more uses of their magic. Like Felix for me makes more sense as a warlock, and him, Dorthea, or Mariane with Sword avo +20 makes a simple and effective build with Flayn and Linhardt’s crest, I tend to make them warlocks with a staff, not really making a dedicated healer, same with Mercedes but I tend to make her a dark flyer instead overall, I do like this list, I can’t remember everyone’s spell lists so I can’t make any meme / joke suggestions (aside from Bishop Dimitri lol) I am curious about what a serious list would be like, as well as a challenge / meme list would be! thank you for reading!

  • I feel like warp is really good but also not an absolute must have. It is a really good spell but a lot of people really overrate it. Rescue is really underrated. It is so good. Especially if you aren’t using brain dead wyverns. Annette in general is super underrated, but Excalibur is so good on crimson flower and verdant wind.

  • All of the magic classes have some utility that makes them worthwhile. Mortal savant sucks because of the speed penalty but it could have been fun otherwise. And even war cleric, meh as it undoubtedly is, could be a cool class for Byleth alone given the faith and brawling requirements. But holy knight is just so outclassed on every level, I can’t think of any reason why it should be used instead of, say, Valkyrie or dark knight. Hopefully, the next FE game has better balance mechanics for it’s magic type classes.

  • I was thinking about this too! It’s a more feasible question to answer than best class, probably because the spells are predetermined weapons. I have always left the dlc out, since I don’t have it, but I did think bishop was best for Lin, dark knight was best for Hubert, and gremory was best for Lysithea. One recent idea I had was to get poison strike on warlock Hanneman for his meteor, so the enemy will be at 1 hp after. I do like the double magic for warlock, doubling armored enemies can use up your spells faster than you think

  • Dark Flier is kind of useless on Lysithea because she doesn’t use any Black Magic so that Black Tomefaire just sits there (not that it matters in the long run because she nukes it all anyway). I have had considerable success with Valkyrie Lysithea as the potential +4 range (S rank Reason, Thyrsus, and the inherent +1 from her class) is just stupid broken. I know you didn’t include Dancers as they really shouldn’t be using Magic (also Dancer is just obviously a great class) but I do want to give a shout out to Dancer Yuri. His already great avoid is boosted with Sword Avo +20, and Fetters of Dromi dancing just absolutely breaks the game.

  • Ignatz in my opinion is an incredible Mortal Savant – yeah I know you said you’re not into it, but I straight up think it’s his best class in the game. Manuela I’ve had the most success with as a War Cleric, her stats are like, surprisingly all really well rounded and not low and I was just super hyped to have Manuela PUNCH MEN INTO THE DIRT.

  • I prefer Lysithea and Dorothea in the Trickster class. The main rationality as to why is due to the fact that they get the class ability called “Stealth”. It is not tremendously hard to get Lysithea or Dorothea to the class requirements. Even using Levin Sword to conserve magic usage is such a great idea considering everything. The two of them are so squishy to the point having them on the frontlines is too big of a risk. But have a tank readily available, they can clean house with barely any issues.

  • War Monk Manuela, just here to put that out there. The class growths compliment her own, she will delete units with Aura Gauntlets and still be able to access her utility spells. Additionally, she’ll be pretty dodgy with the +20 avoid, not untouchable but enough to make a difference. Also, I think Lorenz makes an exceptionable dancer. He has recover for off turns and is burly enough to take a hit. One mooore thing, Hanneman as Warlock. He has some potent power and having meteor twice is well worth it in his case. Dorothea isn’t quite as good offensively so I don’t think it applies to her as much but I think Hanneman is the one unit who should stay in Warlock. One moooooore thing, Hilda as a dancer. Bolting for support, Recover for off turns. Other healing spells are barely worth it for characters with low magic, so recover makes that an important tool. I haven’t actually tried it myself but I feel like she can become dodgy enough to get missed by most things while still being tanky enough to get hit once in a while? And… I think I’m done. I like this vid idea, I like seeing someone else values warp and rescue as much as I do.

  • Honestly, I wish a few more units were like Lorenz, ie. could very easily be either a physical unit or a magical unit -or both. Because outside of your obvious mages/healers, there really isn’t much point training people like Felix and Ferdinand to be mages, either because their magic sucks or their spell list sucks. Hell, I’m really disappointed that none of the Lords are more magically inclined. Dimitri and Edelgard are physical powerhouses, Claude just wants to fly and Byleth is just meh.

  • As someone who didn’t get the DLC, I made the following choices differently Mercedes: Bishop(She’s better as a healer) Dorothea: Warlock or Gremory(She’s slightly better as an offensive spellcaster) Marianne: Holy Knight(Good combination of Faith and Riding) Bernadetta: Bow Knight (I generally don’t make her anything besides an archer) Lysithea: Warlock or Gremory(It’s a difficult choice between an extra Warp and Black Tomefaire)

  • Valkyrie is totally outclassed by Dark Knight. It’s never the right option. Warlock is the optimal class for Sylvain (in this context) and Constance (in any context). Constance enjoys the biggest power buff and double the Meteors with the strong possibility of even more uses from Noa. Sylvain needs the (relative) speed of Warlock to put his Budding Talent to any good use. As it happens, I’m using a magic Sylvain now. With Black Magic Avoid and AS+ he is basically untouchable even without the benefits of favorable terrain. Lysithea’s best class is indubitably Dark Flier. Flight and Thyrsus is just too formidable in combination. Manuela’s best class is Mortal Savant, it’s almost the only way she can do decent damage. Felix’s Budding Talent is worthless and if he’s using his magic stat, it should really be in concert with Aura Gauntlets.

  • Idk man, Warlock is fine for Handyman cuz double Meteor is just so good. His magic is usually insane and he just 1 shots enemies to make clearing the way easier. Same logic applies to Constance and Dorothea but they get to be Gremory, although I always make Constance a Valk cuz I find her hit rate to be kinda shit so Uncanny Blow really helps. I find Dark Flier to be pretty ass. Might as well just go Valk in that case. Especially for Bernie, I sometimes use the terrain to damage her for her passive so I wouldnt wanna make her a flier. Also I guess actually look up spell lists before hand so you aren’t saying Bernie has bolting

  • I very much resent the fact you called Anna a worse Bernadetta. Encloser, Deadeye and Vengeance alone make is so Bernadetta deserves a much better fate than being compared to the useless unit we call Anna in her current form. Not to mention Persecution Complex (May aswell be a crest of fraldarius considering how easy it is to proc), her decent utility spell list and Pass (when Pass is the least useful skill you have you’re in a good spot). TLDR: i’d take even freshly recruited Church Route Cyril over a trained-from-base Anna

  • I’m glad youre uploading again. I’ve got an actual article idea for you. Do a change log for binary. I got bored if a binary run because trying to keep in mind all the changes just got overwhelming (to be clear this is a second run, but trying to keep track of all the hidden stuff vs all the hidden fe4 stuff it doesn’t take out got me confused

  • I like Constance as a warlock due to 4 times bolting. Gremory doesn’t have Black tomefaire so warlock actually has more damage. Also Mortal Savant does have 6 movement, which isn’t bad for a foot class so there are some times I would rather use Mortal savant over Dark Knight (Like for Dorothea because of her hexblade skill. Edelgard would actually make a good Gremory. Felix wants War Monk. I’m the only person who likes mortal savant and I wouldn’t use Felix as one.
