Do Affects Vanish If You Turn On The Typhoon In The Mystical Place?

MST does not negate when activated in response to the activation of a spell or trap card. It destroys the card but its effect will still resolve, making it meaningless to waste an MST on it. Cards like Dust Tornado and Mystical Space Typhoon do not negate the activation of the card. However, if MST destroys a Spell or Trap that remains on the field, game mechanics cannot differentiate between negation types. Effect Veiler sees that your Rabbit’s effects are already negated by Skill Drain and cannot activate.

If “Mystical Space Typhoon” is activated in a chain to the activation of “Imperial Order” and is not later negated, “Imperial Order” will destroy “Imperial Order”. While MST does not negate the effect of any card that activated, monsters like Caius the Shadow Monarch and Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress have effects that can target your back row cards. Chaining “Mystical Space Typhoon” or “Dust Tornado” to a Normal Spell, Normal Trap Card, Quick-Play Spell Card, or Ritual Spell Card has no effect on gameplay.

MST and cards alike cannot negate effects. They only destroy cards. If you chain MST, it does not negate the effect of a spell or trap card when activated. Non-continuous spells, traps, and monster effects have their effects resolved even if they are destroyed.

In Yugioh, there are many ways to negate mystical space typhoon, as any card that can negate a spell activation works. MST just destroys the card, not negating it. Cards that specifically say they “negate” traps or spells are the ones that stop the effect.

Why do people think MST negates?

MST destroys the card, not negating it. Cards that specifically say they “negate” traps or spells stop the card from using its effect. In a situation where an opponent has a dark magician and plays mages power, the response or chain effect works in reverse. The first card to activate is MST and destroy mages power, while the second card activates mages power, activating the card effect even without the mages power card.

Can mystical space typhoon stop monster reborn?

The Mystical Space Typhoon card has the effect of destroying, rather than negating, the card in question. When the MST is linked to the Monster Reborn, the card is destroyed and a monster is summoned. Nevertheless, the spell card is activated, and the effect is resolved. In order to negate the activation or effect of a spell or trap card, it is necessary to possess cards that are capable of negation. Mystical Space Typhoon and normal trap cards are of the same spell speed (spell speed 2).

What spell card destroys traps?

The “Heavy Storm” is a powerful spell that destroys all Spell and Trap Cards on the field. If you set everything on your first turn and your opponent plays it, you lose all your cards and have no defense. However, your opponent still has all their cards, giving them a significant advantage. Duelists often set only one Spell or Trap Card, but this is not a safety measure. If your opponent destroys both Trap Cards with “Heavy Storm”, you won’t be able to use them. Once your opponent has used “Heavy Storm”, you can set multiple Spell or Trap Cards, intimidating your opponent and allowing you to use your best cards at the best times.

Does mystical space typhoon negate?

“Mystical Space Typhoon” and “Dust Tornado” do not negate the effects of cards they destroy, so Spell and Trap Cards that are chained to them may still resolve if they are in the Graveyard. The Ancient Forest card does not change the Defense Position monsters to Attack Position if “Mystical Space Typhoon” is chained to its activation. If “Mystical Space Typhoon” is chained to “Pot of Benevolence” and destroyed, it is sent to the Graveyard instead of being removed from play.

Can you activate mystical space typhoon?

The turn player cannot set more than one Spell/Trap Card at a time, and both players have the opportunity to respond. Player B can activate their “Mystical Space Typhoon” before the turn player can perform another action. If “Mirror Force” is activated while the effect of “Royal Decree” is applied, “Mystical Space Typhoon” is chained to “Mirror Force” targeting “Royal Decree”, resulting in a Chain link 1 and Chain link 2 chain. The Mystical Space Typhoon destroys “Royal Decree”, and the Chain resolves backwards.

Starlight Road cannot be chained to the activation of a “Mystical Space Typhoon” trying to destroy a “Call of the Haunted”, as the monster targeted is not destroyed by the Mystical Space Typhoon’s effect but by the effect of “Call of the Haunted”.

In summary, the turn player cannot set more than one Spell/Trap Card at a time, and both players have the opportunity to respond to the action.

Did Yugi use mystical space typhoon?

In episode 179, Yami Yugi uses a card to defeat Dartz’s “Twin Bow Centaur” during a Tag Duel with Seto Kaiba. In episode 102, Téa Gardner uses this card to defeat Crump’s set “Gust” and “Mirror Force”, allowing Crump to activate “Driving Snow”. In episode 174, Yami Yugi uses this card to defeat Rafael’s “Gravity Axe – Grarl”, reducing the ATK of “Guardian Grarl” to 1000. In the next episode, Yami Yugi activates the effect of “Amulet Dragon” to banish all Spell Cards from his Graveyard and increase its ATK by 300 for each banished card. The card’s use in various Duels and games showcases its versatility and power.

Why isn’t Raigeki banned?

Raigeki, a powerful spell from the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series, was banned permanently due to its destruction negation effects. However, the game has since seen a fair board clear, and Harpie’s Feather Duster, a one-off side deck card, has been relegated to a more competitive option. Although not suitable for many main decks due to not all decks relying on the back row, it can still result in complete blowouts and is a competitively viable option for any side deck. The game’s fair board clear and powerful spells continue to attract players to the original Yu-Gi-Oh! series.

Did MST used to negate?

MST is similar to Raigeki Break, but it only destroys Spell and Trap Cards. It does not negate cards, but it does stop the effect of activated Field Spells and Continuous Spells and Traps before they resolve. In a video game, an opponent summons a Stardust Dragon, and the opponent uses MST to negate the summon. The opponent then chains with MST, targeting Royal Oppression, which is destroyed first. However, since Royal Oppression was not on the field after resolution, it does not negate the summon.

Does mystical space typhoon negate effects?

“Mystical Space Typhoon” and “Dust Tornado” do not negate the effects of cards they destroy, so Spell and Trap Cards that are chained to them may still resolve if they are in the Graveyard. The Ancient Forest card does not change the Defense Position monsters to Attack Position if “Mystical Space Typhoon” is chained to its activation. If “Mystical Space Typhoon” is chained to “Pot of Benevolence” and destroyed, it is sent to the Graveyard instead of being removed from play.

Does dust tornado negate the effect of a spell card?

Does dust tornado negate the effect of a spell card?

Dust Tornado cards can be chained to the activation of a Spell or Trap Card and destroyed, allowing the effect of the card to resolve normally. Continuous Trap Cards only apply as long as they remain face-up on the field. If a card is chained to a Dragon Capture Jar, its effect will not apply and all Dragon-Type monsters will not be moved to Defense Position. To set a Spell or Trap Card, one must destroy one on the opponent’s side of the field.

If the opponent chains a card to destroy the target of Dust Tornado, the card cannot be set. However, if the opponent activates the targeted card, it is not negated but destroyed by Dust Tornado, allowing the player to set one.

Can mystical space typhoon destroy face down cards?

Can mystical space typhoon destroy face down cards?

It is possible to destroy any spell or trap card that is currently on the field of play. However, should one destroy a card that is face down, the opponent is then able to activate it, should they be able to do so. To illustrate, if one were to destroy Reckless Greed with Mystical Space Typhoon, the opponent would then be able to activate it.

  • Some of these mistakes mostly come from the fact that it’s not obvious to a new player the difference between a card being negated, and a card resolving without effect. A lot of players don’t understand that cards still resolve even after they or their target are destroyed. If you ever make a article on Chains this would be a good thing to talk about too.

  • Thank you so much. I have been trying to tell one of my friends this and he just won’t listen to me because he thinks stack would allow MST to negate. In fact, The fighting got so bad that I quit playing Yu-Gi-Oh and one of my friends had an emotional break down because they were torn between both sides. But now that I have proof from a professional Yu-Gi-Oh player that knows the Game I can finally show them this article and get them to finally play the game correctly.

  • This caused a quarrel between me, my 2 friends, and my friend’s douchebag of a friend. He played mst against me. I tried to explain that mst didn’t negate, but his head was too far up his own ass to listen. He then proceeded to insult me the rest of the games and call me a dumbass (as someone who is autistic, I find that extremely offensive). I secretly cheated back I was so mad because he still won the despute (further fueling his ego). Granted, I would never ever do this anymore, as this was a long time ago. Worst yugioh player I’ve ever met, and frankly it’s people like him that are the reason why the yugioh community gets a bad rap. Anyway, nuff said. Still love this game and love your vids, dzeeff!

  • Can you make a article on conditions vs effects? Like, initially I was gonna ask about inherent summoning because I can not tell you how often I have had a monster reborn get striked, so maybe explaining that that doesn’t work would help, but that could also cross over into conditions, which I occasionally struggle with. For example I have been told that T.G. Cyber Magician is a condition so even if its effect is negated it can still use a monster in hand to synchro summon. But what makes that different from any other passive effect? I feel like that would be a really informative article.

  • dzeef 2 other things id like to see you cover 1. using solemn strike on something like naturia exterio or 2 cyber dragon infinity’s, does naturia which does not have a once per turn effect get to negate a solemn strike on it? Could a strike used on one cyber infinity’s effect be negated by the other? 2. Why monster reborn or other reborn effects wont work if the monster was not properly summoned. Iguess this would make cards like gale dogra too good by dumping stuff then reviving it but it still confuses me, so long as its in my graveyard and isnt a card that can only be special summoned by its own effect i dont see why its not fair game

  • the fact that MST doesn’t prevent a spell or trap from resolving is pretty counter-intuitive to the chain system. If I chain MST on a spell or trap my MST will resolve first and destroy the card before its effect resolves. Thats what really confused me when I got back into Yugioh and my friend told me about how MST works

  • What if you send a monster to your HAND while Call of the haunted is activated? It doesn’t say ”send the target from your hand to the graveyard”, and the target isn’t sent to the graveyard(destroyed). Does it simply leave Call of The Haunted on the field unresolved? If so, what happens if you then resummon the targeted monster and then COTH gets destroyed?

  • But for example, I see that in YGO games all times: If you use COH for summon Stratos or that other guy who has a effect for special summon, both hit the field, but if the MST is activated in chain, the monster hit and leave at the same time basically, what makes effects being activated. Is this a interaction because the AI is slow?

  • Only Dzeef would make a 11 minute article explaining why MST doesn’t negate (tl;dr because it doesn’t say “negate”) and get (what I would assume) paragraph-long comments explaining why he’s wrong, and then make another 9+ minute article about “Commenters don’t understand MST”. In fact, I bet we’re both counting on it.

  • It´s simple using the following example: What is instant in its happening and has less time to be stopped? A slap to the face or slowly grinding your head on a wall? The slap is over more quickly, and all potential damage is done as soon as the slap was activated. The grinding can be stopped mid-effect, as you´re still conscious and can forcibly turn your head away. MST can negate a skull-grinding, but it can´t undo a slap to the face.

  • What about when you try and banish a face down card, but then your opponent responds to that by flipping the card you target face up and resolving its effect, only for it to be banished afterward? As someone who plays dragon spirit of white a lot in Duel Links, this always frustrated me. How do rulings like that work, and how come they can do that? Is it the same thing as MST, because it only banishes, and not negate?

  • My argument, Yugioh works in chain effects When a card is activated and someone else activates a card in response (chain) the last card activated goes first, the chain cards effects are activated before the original trap cards effects are. Because the last card in a chain it’s effects are FISRT, therefore the card is destroyed by MST BEFORE its effect is used. Edit: It doesn’t have to say negate!!!! Because it’s effect is used FIRST, as in BEFORE dark holes effect meaning dark hole is DESTROYED BEFORE its effect is activated so there is nothing to be negated.

  • So me and some friends were playing very old school yu-gi-oh mostly for fun, and my playgroup had a question about Graceful Charity. Someone was pondering if it would be beneficial to negate their own Graceful charity, as due to the comma it appears that the cost of Graceful Charity is drawing 3 cards, with the effect being discarding 2 cards. Any advice on this because it sounded absurd but we aren’t skilled enough to get the proper ruling.

  • An interesting fact to note is that while MST will cause Field Spells and the like to resolve without effect, they still technically resolve. This results in a rather amusing situation, where if a player activates Geartown, and the opponent chains MST to it, then MST will destroy Geartown meaning it will resolve without effect, then the initial activation of Geartown still resolves, causing its effect to summon an Ancient Gear monster (When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 “Ancient Gear” monster from your hand, Deck, or Graveyard) to miss timing. (This is because the resolution of Geartown’s activation, and not it’s destruction, is the last thing to have happened.)

  • Dear, Deezff I have watched your content for a while, and it has really helped me grow as a yugioh player. I’ve learned about card advantage, confusing rulings, and competitive deck building all thanks to your articles. I would like to ask you a question about two very important aspects of the game: protection vs disruption. Which of these two is more important? Here is an example: in my Dark Magician deck, I’m trying to decide between two cards. One of the cards is Dark Renewal, and the other is Dark Magic Expanded. I could use Renewal to immediately remove an opponents monster as soon as it’s summoned, and summon my own monster. Dark Magic Expanded, on the other hand, could be used to protect my field from a board wipe. Do I disrupt my opponent, or protect myself? Sincerely, A Yugioh Player

  • dzeeff you commented on what i wrote at the live stream of house of champs, i ask if it is healthy for the game that all decks have dangers in them, you responded by saying altergeis and sky strikers have danger in them? obviously not all decks have dangers in them but most of the decks that are in the top cut do have them and that is what i meant, they are like a symbiot (venom) that need a host to survive:). i respect you as a yugituber you are one of my favorites but not even you can say that dangers are positive for the game, many ftk stupid crap happend because of them, draw and a free monster?? crazy in my opinion

  • I used to play way back in classic before even syncos and such. I’m following this website because I enjoy card games and even tho I don’t plan on rejoining yugioh, I got my start in it and I wanna follow what it’s become. I love the articles and I truly feel I can vicariously live out the scene through them. I’ve followed so far but this is the first article that’s truly made me feel yugioh has gotten a bit too complicated. It’s the simple fact that there is so much implied context when explaining these rulings. It’s just too much. I think the complexity this game has achieved is great. But the idea you need a master class in rulings and a spread sheet on deck searches to follow games is silly. I don’t want this game to fail but if it ever does collapse it will be under it’s own convoluted rule system

  • Random ruling question; I’m running a Fire King/Nethphys Deck. Supposed I get out High Avatar Garunix & Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys, and on my opponent’s turn, both are destroyed at the same time (like by Dark Hole or something equivalent to that). Both of my monster have effects that activate in the standby phase, but is there a particular order that would happen in? High Avatar Garunix’s effect destroys all monsters (assuming the effect resolves), so would I just end up blowing up Phoenix again?

  • I am actually a little confused because you said mst does stop fire formation tenki but the card says when activated the player can get a beast warrior added to their hand and then it add atk to their monsters so do you mean if someone chains mst to fire formation tenki when they play it does that mean they don’t get to add a beast warrior because I thought since they played it that means it activates and can get a monster but they don’t get the atk bonus since it gets destroyed?

  • When I got back into Yu-Gi-Oh! my friend was telling me about a ruling and he said if you placed Qliphort Scout in the pendulum zone, and opponent activated mystical space typhoon, you still get the search. I thought that if you place the Scout in the zone, the opponent has a chance to respond, then if not, you activate the effect to search and then they get another chance to respond. I understand that if they MST it after you already paid the cost you get the search but is it true you still get the search the moment you place Scout in the pendulum zone and opponent flips MST? Overall he was saying it was pointless to MST it at any point because it doesn’t negate the search except if you just want to get rid of the scale. Can someone please clarify or confirm this ruling?

  • Sorry I’m a little confused with your ghost ogre-stratos example, (and I know this isn’t the point of the example so maybe that’s just it) wouldn’t the opponent still not get the search cause they miss the timing of stratos saying “when” its summoned. Sorry for bad grammar and I might be wrong I just was curious.

  • This is just another example of Konami writing sloppy rules and patching those rules with more sloppy rules. I hate that the game is so complicated like this. Missed timings, confusing rules when applied to certain spells, but not all. If you ask me, Konami needs to re write the entire games rules to streamline the game to be way less confusing.

  • Man, it seems Yu-Gi-Oh has changed a lot since I last played it. We used to use MST as a destruction spell only. Now it can negate things? Since I know that will probably cause confusion, I’ll explain here. Autonomous Action Unit has the text at the beginning as what occurs during activation. This includes the cost and immediate effect, paying 1500 life points and targeting a card respectively. We used to treat all cards to have this. So, for Call of the Haunted, the player had no cost, but the immediate effect was targeting a monster in your graveyard. So, the player would target a monster in his graveyard, and then MST would destroy Call of the Haunted before it summoned. So far, so good. Fire Formation Tenki throws a wrench into that definition. It has no cost, so good there, but the immediate effect is adding a level 4 or lower beast-warrior monster to your hand from your deck. The continuous effect was then increasing beast-warrior monsters attack by 100. So, with the rules we used to play by, the player would still get to search their deck and add a card to their hand if MST was played on this card. It would be destroyed afterwards though, so the monsters wouldn’t get 100 extra attack. Anyway, I’ve been perusal your articles while deciding if I should commit to joining Yu-Gi-Oh again, but the game has changed so much since I last played that if I do, I’ll probably just play casually.

  • I have a question related to this topic but slightly different I am playing yu-gi-oh in ygopro and I made a Ancient Gear deck, and this deck have two cards with similar effects, the first “Ancient Gear Fortress” and the second “GearTown” when I play this cards and my opponent mst them I asume in both cases I should be able to special summon, but in ygopro if the mst is a chain to the activation only “Fortress” let me special summon, I don’t know if I misunderstand the rules or I the cards are miss programmed, would you mind to explain me?.

  • The way I convinced my friends that MST negates is by telling them that since MST would resolve before the target (i.e. Dark Hole) resolves, meaning the target would no longer be on the field by the time its effect should resolve, so it wouldn’t be able to. Oh well, it won me a few duels back in the day :,D

  • It doesn’t help that yugiohs “problem solving” card text doesn’t problem solve, I’ll present an example that I recently ran into Ojama Emperor(yes I realize it’s not officially translated yet but I doubt the text will change), as a card he is a link monster which means he has no Def value, now his effect is as follows(feel free to look it up) Emperor gains 3000 ATK while Ojama Country is on the field, but Ojama Country doesn’t stop affecting Emperor because it feels like it, ITS an Ojama card and as such said atk and def reverse therefore theoretically instantly zeroing out his gained atk. This is just one example of a card that could be confusing there are other better ones but none that I can think of off the top of my head, I picked it though because I understand how it wants to be played but because of the way each card works on the field causes some weird occurrences because of it’s wording and it’s interaction with things on field. I think what would work better is giving it the effective def boost which would reverse to become its atk.

  • For those that didn’t understand the article, ima break it down right quick. Similar to how Ghost Ogre and Snow Rabbit works, MST in short doesn’t negate. However!!! MST can stop cards that have to remain on the field in order to resolve their effects like a continuous spell/ trap or field spell. MST can stop a card if timing is missed, stupid as fuck, but it does work, look somewhere else for that type of detail, cus I don’t wanna explain it. MST can also stop a card from ever being used, like a trap card that was set during ur opponents turn and then was destroyed during ur opponents end phase. Well that’s it for cards like MST.

  • Great article. Question; If I ghost my opponents sky iris, are they still able to destroy a card and search a card? Based on this article, the answer would be no (I think) because continues S/T and field spells need to be on the field in order for them to resolve. Just want to verify that I’m apply that correctly. Thanks.

  • hi and hello ask juge man this vido has a intresting topic i had a guss that the rullings would work out i know bunseser can nagate but it depends where the effeact is comeing form i know your a busy tuber but could you possaby do a article on destiny hero plasma vs danger dark world at my loals i had plasma on the fild and my oppent sumoned danger gopa craba im not to shour is that s the crroect name of the card but i was mostly woundering dose destiny hero plasma nagate the darw effact of danger monsters cuz i ask the juge at my loals and my juge at my reglor event had no clue on the rulleing
