Do Atheists Hold Astrological Beliefs?

The Inductivist has conducted a study on the relationship between belief in astrology and belief in God. The results suggest that strong monotheistic beliefs (evangelicals) or strong non-believers (atheists) are less likely to believe in other supernatural phenomena. However, not all astrology beliefs seem to be based on ignorance. A study from European Psychology explored astrology’s role in coping with traumatic events and stressful situations. Many people believe in astrology, despite there being no evidence that it can accurately predict a person’s life choices or future outcomes.

A new report indicates that atheists and agnostics still believe in supernatural phenomena despite not believing in gods. They tend to hold these beliefs at lower rates than the general population. Researchers found that those who professed a belief in the powers of astrology tended to score higher than average on narcissistic measurements and did poorly on the IQ test. Astrology is generally defined as the belief that astronomical phenomena, like the stars overhead when you were born or the fact that Mercury is in retrograde, have the power to influence behavior.

Atheists can believe in various superstitious nonsense, but they are barred from believing in astrology. Being an atheist doesn’t equate to being science-minded, scientifically literate, or a skeptic. According to a 2017 Pew Research Center poll, almost thirty percent of Americans believe in astrology. While astrology has nothing to do with whether or not a god exists, most atheists don’t believe in it. Significant percentages of atheists and agnostics express some belief in astrology, karma, “a universal spirit or life force”, and other supernatural phenomena.

Do Muslims believe in astrology?

The Hadith, a collection of Islamic religious teachings, is a significant part of the Islamic faith. It outlines the instructions and practices of Muhammad, who criticized the legality and illegality of astrology. According to Abu Dawud, seeking knowledge from the stars is considered witchcraft, which is inherently forbidden in Islam. The Hadith also emphasizes that rain is a blessing bestowed only by Allah, and any belief that rain is a result of other beings is considered disbelief.

The Hadith also mentions the stars, stating that those who suggest rain originates from a star are considered disbelievers in Allah. This concept of astrology and the belief in celestial beings’ influence on anything other than what is enshrined in the Quran and Hadith constitutes shirk (blasphemy) and leads one to leave the fold of the religion.

Second-century Islamic scholar Imam Ali, the fourth caliph of Islam and cousin and son-in-law of Muhammad, views astrology as fundamentally forbidden in the Islamic religion. He warns followers not to learn the science of stars except for guidance on land or sea, as it leads to divining and an astrologer is a diviner. This aligns with the Quran, which points to stars and astrology as only a means of navigation.

However, prominent scholars like Ibn Arabi and Ikhwan argue that planets are not considered God but do suggest each prophet with a specific planet/celestial being. Prophet Idris, also known as Enoch, was gifted with great knowledge of the stars and used his gift to meditate upon God’s grandeur and teach others. He believed that the stars and moon contributed to mankind and founded the study of the stars.

Different sects of Islam offer varying perspectives on the concept of astrology.

What religions forbid astrology?

Early Christians and early Jews were strongly opposed to astrology, with some even attributing it to demonic origin. The Church Fathers imposed strong sanctions against astrology to protect their flocks, with mathematician Aquila Ponticus excommunicated from the Church in Rome for astrological heresies in A. D. 120. St. Augustine believed that the determinism of astrology conflicted with Christian doctrines of man’s free will and responsibility, and that God was not the cause of evil. He also grounded his opposition philosophically, citing the failure of astrology to explain twins who behave differently despite being conceived at the same time.

The first astrological book published in Europe was the Liber Planetis et Mundi Climatibus, published between 1010 and 1027 AD. Ptolemy’s second century AD Tetrabiblos was translated into Latin by Plato of Tivoli in 1138. Dominican theologian Thomas Aquinas proposed that the stars ruled the imperfect’sublunary’ body while attempting to reconcile astrology with Christianity by stating that God ruled the soul.

The thirteenth century mathematician Campanus of Novara devised a system of astrological houses, while astronomer Guido Bonatti wrote the Liber Astronomicus, which King Henry VII of England owned at the end of the fifteenth century.

Do atheists believe in luck?

The concept of God is a controversial topic among philosopher Frank J. Tipler, who proposes that the Earth will end in a single point called the Omega Point, where life will become omnipresent, omnipotent, and omniscient, which are the three attributes of God. This point will be inhabited by beings who are computers, as described by Richard Dawkins, who called computers “biological objects”. Tipler, who was raised as a Christian fundamentalist, rejected religion at 16 due to the Church’s claim that the Earth was 6, 000 years old, when it goes back 4.

6 billion years. He believes that future beings will be intelligent and curious, interested in all variations that preceded them, just as scientists are working to recreate the first single cell in all its possible forms.

Tipler revealed his atheism in connection to his candidacy as party leader for the People’s Party. He was asked if he believed in God by Thomas Hempel in Radioekot, and he answered no, making it known but never kept it secret. He believes that the evidence is strong that this particular version of himself and himself will be there in the future, replicating the entire interview.

Do atheists believe in zodiacs?

Atheism is a belief system that is characterized by a rejection of the worship and veneration of deities. The practice of astrology does not involve any form of worship, and thus it is not within the scope of atheism.

Is manifesting a sin?

Manifestation is a manipulation of influence to be honored, rather than honoring God. Romans 1:21-26 offers cautionary wisdom, reminding us that those who knew God chose to resist the opportunity to honor Him, leading to darkened hearts and fools. Many people have exchanged the immortal God for images and the truth about God for a lie, serving the creature instead of the Creator. It is important to avoid serving the creature instead of the Creator and to assess cultural trends presented as Scripture. The enemy twisted Scripture to tempt Eve to eat the fruit, and this same trick is still being used today.

Does god believe in astrology?

In Matthew 28:18, Jesus asserts that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to him. This contradicts biblical wisdom, as chasing after false gods is a sin. There is no biblical evidence that God has given authority to stars or astrologists. Pursuing predictions about our destiny or personality is biblically sinful, as it takes power from God and gives it to something other than God. A horoscope cannot change what God has already ordained before we were even created.

Can Jews do astrology?

Nahmanides believed that astrology is a natural aspect of nature, but not reliable. Jews were forbidden to use astrology and instead relied on prophets. Maimonides, a French philosopher, disagreed with astrology, stating that it should be supported by rational proof, sense evidence, or trustworthy authority. He argued that astrology should not be considered a science and that a man’s fate could depend on constellations, as it would rob life of purpose and make humans slaves of destiny. Isaac ben Joseph ibn Pulgar, a 14th-century Spanish philosopher, also wrote against astrology.

What personality type is most likely to be atheist?

What personality type is most likely to be atheist?

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a psychological tool used to measure a person’s psychological preferences. It has been found that certain personality types, such as NT types (mainly INTP and ENTP), are more likely to be atheists, while ISTJ is common among Greek Orthodox. The “judging” (J) type is also common among evangelical and Protestants. ESFJ and ENFJ personality types are more interested in becoming ministers, with ENFJs more attracted to liberal denominations and ESFJs more interested in conservative denominations.

However, the MBTI is flawed, making its correlations with religiosity potentially unreliable. Most religions are based around a belief in supernatural beings, which may lead some to believe that religiosity is related to paranormal beliefs. Research has shown that people who are religious tend to have paranormal beliefs, possibly to reduce anxiety about dying. Additionally, some studies have found little correlation between religion and paranormal beliefs, possibly due to religious discouragement of excessive thinking about paranormal beings.

Is atheism a sin in Christianity?

The Catholic Church’s Catechism identifies atheism as a violation of the First Commandment and a sin against the virtue of religion. It acknowledges that atheism may be motivated by virtuous or moral considerations and encourages Catholics to focus on their own role in encouraging atheism. The Psalms describe those who assert that “there is no God” as “foolish” and “corrupt”. Francis Bacon criticized attitudes towards atheism as contrary to wisdom and moral gravity, and associated them with fearing government or public affairs. He also noted that superficial knowledge of philosophy can lead to atheism, while more knowledge can lead to religion.

What religion is astrology based on?

The Vedanga Jyotisha is the earliest Vedic text on astronomy, which later included astrology. Hindu natal astrology originated with Hellenistic astrology by the 3rd century BCE, incorporating Hindu lunar mansions. The names of signs, planets, and astrological terms in Varaha Mihira’s texts are considered conclusive evidence of a Greek origin for Hindu astrology. Indian techniques may have been augmented with some Babylonian techniques.

Chinese astrology has a close relationship with Chinese philosophy and uses concepts such as yin and yang, the Five phases, the 10 Celestial stems, the 12 Earthly Branches, and shichen (a form of timekeeping used for religious purposes). The early use of Chinese astrology was mainly confined to political astrology, the observation of unusual phenomena, identification of portents, and the selection of auspicious days for events and decisions.

The Chinese zodiac of twelve animal signs represents twelve different types of personality and is based on cycles of years, lunar months, and two-hour periods of the day (the shichen). The zodiac traditionally begins with the Rat sign and proceeds through 11 other animal signs. Complex systems of predicting fate and destiny based on one’s birthday, birth season, and birth hours, such as ziping and Zi Wei Dou Shu, are still used regularly in modern-day Chinese astrology.

How rare are atheists?

The 2023 National Public Opinion Reference Survey indicates that the proportion of adults in the United States who identify as atheists has decreased from 3% in 2014 and 2% in 2007. Pew Research Center surveys indicate that atheists in the United States are predominantly male and relatively young. Specifically, 64% of atheists are men, and 71% are 49 or younger, compared to 52% of all U. S. adults.

  • I don’t believe in astrology. Why? For so many reasons, one of them: Because I have twins with characters that couldn’t be any more different from each other. Also because I know people born under “my” star sign that are – wait for it … individuals. I think people restrict theirselves from becoming who they really are by limiting their view of themselves and of others. I also believe that as humans we carry all sort of character traits and potentials in us, so the description of any star sign can apply to everyone. Astrology was created in a time where science was not at the same level it is now and people tried to understand the world and find out if there is any correlation between events – they didn’t have the same knowledge we have now. I’m surprised about how many people still believe in astrology though.

  • My cousin and I were born in the same city, on the exact same day, only a few hours apart, and we have COMPLETELY different personalities and interests. From what I’ve read (in Skeptic magazine, I believe), astrological signs were based on the alignment of the stars observed at the time of Ptolemy and would have to be recalculated today (in other words, chances are what you believe your sign to be is incorrect). My favorite anti-astrological study found, when a class of student were given the horoscope of a serial killer and were told that the horoscope was their own, most of the students exclaimed that it matched their personalities exactly. People believe what they want to believe. Knowing that we have no way to predict the future is a scary realization, which is why our species has sought “signs of the divine” since recorded history.

  • Okay look. I believe that the Natal chart is accurate with how the planets are positioned when u were born. However with the squares/triangles/conjunction and stuff is definitely not true. Come on, a bunch of dead rock in space that you call planets aren’t going to define who you are and what struggles u will face in life. There’s no link really. I mean it’s cool to know Ur birth chart but it’s probably not defining how Ur life will go. For example my friend has an extremely tough life and he has 0 Squares in his chart. Also many successful people are Born with many squares in their chart ( which are meant to be bad) and look where they are now! Overall my opinion is that the Natal chart is extremely interesting but planets and zodiacs don’t define Ur life or you. U make Ur own decisions through life and u Control it.

  • A big reason why astrology doesn’t work is that the axis of the Earth changes slowly over time so stars appear in different places on the same day of the year in different millennia and seeing as the Star signs were created thousands of years ago it means the star signs have been completely desynchronised.

  • Women dating people and rejecting people based on astrology is like having a cookout and offering the sides and macaroni and cheese only to fat people (or one other homogeneous group with an arbitrary characteristic like looks or height or something they cannot change) and saying to everyone else “no, this isn’t for you! It’s only for the (insert group name here) people to eat and you’re not one of them so we can’t let you have any!”

  • My girlfriend just broke up with me because I told her “YouTube astrologers only do what they do for the money. None of then actually believe it. They just know idiots like you will believe it and watch it and pay for it. If they actually believed it, trust me they wouldn’t have the minds to turn it into money.” She is pissed. But it’s ok, she’ll get back with me when I remind her that I’m a Leo and she’s a Cancer who manifested each other during an eclipse… so we are meant to be.

  • That 13th sign is Ophiucus, the Snake Holder. He goes between Sagittarius and Scorpio, I think. Add him in, and suddenly I’m a Gemini instead of a Cancer. Someone also proposed adding Cetus the Whale, but that fell through. Regardless of the number we use, horoscopes don’t get any more accurate or less vague.

  • You forgot that horoscopes are based on the way the babylonians split the sky 3000 years ago in order to have a calendar just like we split our year into months. However they even had to invent new signs in order for them to be symmetric. In addition although they are called fixed stars they move a little every year which sums up over the years. So the sky 3000 years ago looked totally different from the one now. You would even need to make up a 13th zodiac sign.

  • If you don’t believe in Astrology, then, okay I get that, but at least dig a little deeper into it before you talk about it as if you’ve mastered it. Many Astrologers have said themselves that the daily horoscopes are bullshit. In Astrology every planet (And the Sun and Moon.) represent a different aspect of the personality, the sign most people are aware of is their Sun sign. Even though the Moon sign is thought to be of equal significance, as it represents emotions and your personality at the deepest, most instinctual level. Two Aquarius Sun sign people, may have different Moon signs, Mercury signs, Mars, Venus, or whatever. It’s multilayered, and not as vague as this guy thinks it is, he didn’t really dig too deep into it, if he would have found out about all of that stuff, and then proceeded to make an argument argument, I’d respect him a bit more, because he seems a little unqualified to have such a strong opinion given what little he knows haha, he kind of comes across as condescending to me.

  • I’ve had so many conversations where someone threw out some astrological nonsense, and immediately checked out. Moreover, particularly with acquaintances or relatively new friends, it pretty much marked the end of that relationship in any meaningful way. I try to be fair and open-minded about people, but time and again, when someone believes in astrology, that person had a whole host of other, similarly nonsense ideas just waiting to get out. And frankly, I’ve grown to be thankful for that early warning signal. They’re usually a slight left turn away from spewing additional nonsense like “lowering your vibrational frequency” or talking about “the universe” as a being or guiding cosmic force. No thanks. I’ll see my way out

  • Okay so when I found out my sign I was disappointed because it said it was the most sensual one (♉). which I did not like. But that was a long time ago and I’m not that bothered by it now. And why would you listen/ do things that don’t describe you at all. I have Aphrodite the goddess of love because of my sign and her cabin ( pecery Jackson) has all that pink and parfum. People who are in that cabin have the power to make people fall in love with them and I don’t want that. I rather have selen the moon goddess or Artemis goddess of the hunt and moon or something like that because I feel like it’s more me. So what I’m trying to say is you can listen to your zodiac and whatever but don’t if its telling you to do things you don’t want to do or describe you. Do what YOU want.

  • Wow! So intellectual. Can you also do: * 21 reasons Santa isn’t real * 7 myths about the Easter bunny * 8 facts to destroy leprechauns * 13 reasons why unicorns don’t exist I’m pretty sure atheist viewers DESPERATELY need your confirmation in order to accept the fact that the above beings don’t exist…

  • Of course the horoscopes on the magazines can’t be taken seriously… but your points are just superficial. astrology isn’t just about your sunsign, everyone has every planet and sign in it, just in other aspects. so if you really want to talk about astrology, please dive into your own chart and the transits going on right now. peace

  • 1) Newspaper horoscopes are based solely on the sun and are NOT ACTUAL ASTROLOGY. They are a marketing gimmick pushed hard by newspapers in the 60s and 70s to pull more readers, as their readership was steadily siphoned by television. If you’re reading a horoscope of “your sign” in the singular sense, you’re not reading anything legitimate. 2) If you’re going to discriminate against someone’s dating profile based on their inclusion of a zodiac sign that they may not take seriously anyway, you’ve got some serious bias against a subject you very clearly know nothing about. At that point, you need to stop yourself, evaluate your motivations and remind yourself that you are (typically) on a dating site to find love. And not all love-relationships are going to have a perfect intellectual accord. If you’re going to get hung up on something so minor, you’ve got too much psychological baggage to take a relationship seriously in the first place. 3) You stated that astrology shows the individual’s personality based on the stars and planets – plural – so there’s some basic comprehension of the core mechanisms of astrology, yet you then go on to create examples of how a person’s singular sign cannot be an accurate representation of their personality. That’s such a twisted, contrived excuse for logic, it makes my head hurt just trying to follow your flawed reasoning. The reason astrology utilizes the planets and not just the sun to represent a person’s personality is that each celestial body represents a different psychological function.

  • Hehehe im late. But i hate this so much YOU ARE NOT JUST ONE SIGN!!! One Aquarius is different from another Aquarius, NOBODY IS THE SAME!!! this is because the other signs could affect you in a way, and there are houses, nodes, planet placements. WHAT a sign does or is interested in is not determined by the sign. A Taurus might want to be a painter and another Taurus may want to be in the military. THAT IS DETERMINED BY GENES!! The stars dont control your genes. They only control your general personality. The complex side is left for you to uncover. The stars cant tell you everything about yourself. If someone thinks that, tell them to get a life. Btw, any sign can be smart. Its how they go about things. The “smart” signs are the ones that just know. Nothing specific, they just know things well. Maybe that might not apply to all people in the “smart” signs because their chart is dominated by other signs. Your sun sign, the sign you were born under and what you use in horoscopes, isnt always the one that controls your personality. How you were raised is not determined by the stars. IF YOU SAY HOROSCOPES ARE WRONG YOU ARE RIGHT nobody can predict the future duh.

  • lmao non of this disproves anything.. I believe horoscopes are bullshit but if you look into the personalities and relationships of the signs you might be amazed… I never believed in this stuff until literally 2 weeks ago and got really shocked by the different aspects of each sign and how well they matched up with me and the people I know.. I even started guessing peoples signs based off their most upfront personality traits and have gotten everyone I guessed right (haven’t done a lot though).. I’m still very skeptical by a lot of this but idk it’s very interesting

  • The zodiac compatibility gets annoying too like it’s stupid people actually believe that they won’t get along with someone because the zodiac says their signs won’t get along which is bullshit I mean yes it does show some personality traits that I do have and I’m not an atheist but astrology is not accurate most of the time anyway.

  • I am Calm..When I watched This article And Those reasons.. because I Was So worried About My Zodiac it wasn’tn’t suitable with my partner’s zodiac😒 I was Stuckin into it..now I feel Really satisfy ThankU So much make More articles and I Believe That Zodiacs compatibilities are Not Necessary For Us.. Because We Love And Just Love nothing can Destroy love Relationship.

  • Excuse me Sir the article is soooo basic. You are talking about SUN SIGNS!!!!! Did you know youbare not just ur SUN SIGN????? There others aspects such as the moon, mercury, mars, Venus and so forth that makes up ur personality. Smh you don’t even know much about what ur disclaiming. Google birth chart and that will give you a reading upon ur real horoscope.

  • It is so sad to see people chose a partner based on their astrological sign or based on compatibility charts. Imagine the charts says you’re not compatible? or you may end in divorce? are u gonna leave this person and ruin a good chance or relationship just because nonsense astrology say so? If people relied or believed in astrology back in the days then we wouldn’t see so many couple last together for 20+ years because obviously not all these couples will have a compatible charts according to astrology.

  • This could of been a good debunking article. If he were talking about actual astrology. He’s talking about newspaper games, not astrology.. Real astrology requires an accurate hour of birth and the zodiac sign is a very small portion of ones personality. It is far more complex than just what your sign is. If you got an actual horoscope done and your birth chart plotted and interpreted, it will be much more complicated than you think. It’s a lengthy process that takes hours. Your zodiac sign is actually just where your sun sign is placed on your birthchart. It’s a placement of the planets at birth. The Sun (zodiac sign) is the most substantial. But all of the other planets play a role in it too. The most powerful are the sun, moon, your zodiac signs ruling planet (like how aries is mars), and then your rising signs ruling planet(the rising sign is the sign that ends up at the begining of the first house on your birthchart). I’m not saying it’s exactly true but if you’re gonna debunk something please actually know what you’re debunking…That’s like saying Mexican sucks because you hate taco bell

  • Really really, then this earth, would not have existed, due to everything, has a time,to happen, like your YouTube article,is happening, by nakshatra, if you won’t believe it,still it happened, you know what you see,it’s like gravity,if you won’t believe, in gravity, it still exist but I definitely advise, you, that, not to go, to any tarot card reader,or any astrologer, just to your personal research, and,at the end, after all,it and our karma, which makes our destiny, like the Hannah Montana song, like life what you make it,so let’s make it right, if you’re question, the system of universe, then You’re questioning your existence. Just because of some bad experience, which let you believe, that astrology, isn’t true, that doesn’t mean, that’s not, cause every human is a universe itself, cause for you if something is bad,for other person, it might be,the most, righteous things,of which they, can ever think of,so not for everybody it’s wrong, but it’s,their own perspective, it’s like & nothing is right & nothing is wrong, like once upon a time,Johnny deep, was getting bullied in school, so Johnny deep, asked her mother, what he’ll do, so Johnny Depp, mother advice, Johnny Depp, that, if you see anything, here and there,on the road, just pick it up, and throw it up,on bullying kids, and by this Johnny Depp was able to learn, that he does not like to be, in under pressure of somebody, so the moral of this lesson is never feel under pressure by astrology, if you feel, that planets are bullying you, throw a stone, upon planet, but you can’t throw practically,a stone upon our planet, but what I mean,is take away that mindology within yourself,& open yourself, and just stop thinking, about astrology, cause we are here,to live in this Earth, and that matters the most,so why do we care, about astrology exist or not anyway, just do your karma and God,ekomkar,Jagannath,Allah is perusal every our karma, and what you live on this, earth is your good wills, and that’s what matters the most,

  • I’m sorry, but before you express your opinion, please educate yourself on the subject. There is much more to astrology than just your sun sign. In addition to this there are many more planets and asteroids that resemble a part of your personality. For example your north node sign will tell you how you make friends and what kind of friend you are. All I’m saying is, before you start saying all of this at least take the time too fully investigate into astrology. Take time out to look at your natal chart, then decide weather you believe or not. But I will agree with you, daily astrology readings are lies. There is no way I can see any person doing that. Anyway, I’m not trying to argue, your opinion is yours just please learn a bit about it and then make another article maybe. I’d love to hear what you think then. 🙂

  • I am an Astrologer from Nepal. And i write horoscope in newspaper. So here is what i have to say. So here is your answer for question no. 11. You said entertainment. Suppose your are economist and prepare the countrys financial chart. And i say it to you, your chart is just entertainment. How will you feel. Just admit that You cannot understand astrology and did not look the astrology deeply. Donot say its entertainment. I was just like you. I didnot believe in astrology. And more i try to prove it wrong. More it became correct as i go deeper to it. People started to say that what ever i said became correct. Even i didnot believe that my prediction will be correct. That how i became Astrologer.

  • Sorry…Hemant got THIS ONE ‘wrong’. He simply hasn’t done an (in-depth) ‘study’ of ASTROLOGY. The ‘sun sign’ (Taurus, Virgo, etc.)…is only ONE ‘aspect’ that has to be considered. There are about 2 dozen (‘other’) aspects (such as ‘moon sign’, etc)…that ALSO ‘come into play’. I have ‘studied’ this science for MANY years. It is a ‘valid’ science. It WORKS. It ‘explains’ the (vast) ‘PERSONALITY DIFFERENCES’…in people. So…I ‘have’ to ask the question: “If Hemant got THIS ‘wrong’…what ELSE is he ‘wrong’ about?

  • I am an Astrologer from Nepal. And i write horoscope in newspaper. So here is what i have to say. So here are your answers. About your 12 point you said astrology, i am sorry to say that if u say that to astrologer they will laugh . I am laughing too because your question and points are so childish. I want to explain with one example . You said that stars of thousands years is not same as todays star so how can astrology be correct which is looking at thousand years old star….. the answer is you donot have to teach that to astrologers because we will always calculate the changing stars. In Nepal if we publish the calender of 2018 then we will cross cheak it will the stars of all 2018 and only if it is correct,,,,,,at the end of years we will forcaste calender for 2019. Donot forget that the astrological calculation much correct then the calculation done by scientist. Scientist have change the answers for thousands times and at last they reach to the conclusion made by astrologers thousands years back.

  • I am an Astrologer from Nepal. And i write horoscope in newspaper. So here is what i have to say. So here are your answers. About your 12 point you said astrology, i am sorry to say that if u say that to astrologer they will laugh because your question and points are so childish. I want to explain with another example . You said that pluto was called planet but now it is not the planets. Well astrologers havenot concidered pluto as planet. It was scientist who considered pluto as planets. So it was not mistake of astrologers. In astrology Plutos is the connected planets of our galaxy and anothers galaxy.so sometimes it become planet and sometume it doesnot. Please note in Astrology neptune and uranus is also not considered full planet.

  • What is presented here is based on Western Astrology and some BS magazine / newspapers…which is more populist and like Hemant said “..pulling things of out of their asses” most of the time. I consider them as junk entertainment…however, on a more serious note, give “Jyotisha” or Vedic Astrology a try…it seems to be more logical

  • There are actually 13 zodiac signs. Due to the presession of the earth’s axis over the 2000 years since traditional Astrology has been practiced, the actual times that the sun is in said zodiac constellations are off by an average of around 30 days or so. Any questions about celestial phenomena should be addressed to an astronomer or astrophysicist, not an astrologer. The 13th zodiac sign is Ophiuchus, the serpent bearer. This constellation has been well known for thousands of years. The reason why there are only 12 in traditional zodiac signs is because certain cultures back in the day were obsessed with all things divisible by 12. That is why we have 12 zodiac signs, 60 seconds in a minute, 60 minutes in an hour, 24 hours in a day, and 360 degrees in a circle (when there are 365.24 days in a year.

  • There is way more to astrology than just the sun. If you do not study astrology, astronomy, biology, anatomy and physiology as well as quantum physics, sacred geometry, and matter waves with astrology than you will have a very limited understanding of the whole thing.. yes it can be easy to describe a person based on sun sign but that’s only going to get a part of it cause if they were born 9-25-1992 depending on what time the were born will give the rising sign also a very important part of a person so with this date the person is a Libra. Libra starts on sep 23 through Oct 22. So this person was born in the first decan of libra, there are three decans to each sign and are about two weeks long. Earlier decans will have some traits of the previous sign and later ones will have some traits of the next sign.. So then if the person was born during the day would give them a day chart, day charts are usually out going people. now let’s say they are a Libra with a Taurus rising, the person will have a cool down to earth appear to others and shy because libra is air and air loves to move and represents communication earth is reserved and can be more skeptical than the other signs. So this person may love to talk but will wait two they can see if they can talk a lot or if they should reign in the vocals a lil. I really want to keep going on and on about how it’s so much more than just sun info but it would take FOREVER trust me. It does and can work for you as long as you have your info correct if it’s off you could get a chart that is close to you but not quite there and it’s not astrology that is wrong, but the person’s birth info is.

  • I’m an atheist and I believe in astrology, but I don’t take horoscope seriously. Because, my full chart is spot on, it covers things I had no idea had anything to do with astrology, but they are true. Plus, I have a hobby guessing people’s sings and most of the time i’m right, I even get their moon, rising or MC sign right, apart from their sun sign.

  • Lol imagine thinking everyone born in your month is exactly the same as you but at the same time can be applied to anyone… so ambitious. Not to mention the stars are not the ones telling us how our personality is, HUMANS literally just made this shit up and put random characteristics together in a few categories for LITERALLY NO REASON

  • Two points. 1) if you could show that was a scientific link between astrology and personality you would likey be able to collect a noble prize. Since there aren’t universities all over the world studying this mystery…. I think its save to say its crap. 2) what about twins. Especially twins seperated at birth. The swedes have lots of research on such people and it shows individuals have individual personalities…. huh, how could that be?

  • Astrology provides sense of meaning that people cannot find anywhere else. It is not predicting like that “You’re going to win lottery of crores”. It’s a macroscopic view. It gives sense of placement. I encourage councelled to reflect and consider, and while reflecting they usually find themselves. What astrology offers can’t be measured. Astrology is science and an art both. Calculation is science and comprehension of the calculation is an art. Lets say like in photography camera is technical but taking the photograph is an art.The predictive part becomes irrational for non believers but this does not make Astrology invaluable or wrong. If one is not ready to consider beyond the rational, how can the answers found? Those who want to see, Astrology is a lens. One has to participate to see through it.Astrology is not sunsign read in newspapers. Its beyond a common mans comprhension. Its vast. And believe me there are combinations in astrology for athesit. One is atheist till life is favoring. Once things start reversing all beliefs except on god remains. I always wish people be happy and at peace and be athesist.

  • The best way to understand astrology is to study the subject yourself and see how it applies to your life. You will be amazed at its accuracy. Astrology is way ahead of science. Eventually science will come around to prove why astrology works. Until then majority of the population will be in the dark about the greatest truth about the universe and how everything wotks

  • The exact minute plays a big part in their birth chart. The reason why a lot of people believe in astrology because it’s true when you actually learn it properly. You do know that the Moon’s gravitational pull generates something called the tidal force right? And the tidal force causes Earth and its water to bulge out on the side closest to the Moon and the side farthest from the Moon. These bulges of water are high tides. So high tides and low tides are caused by the Moon. If the moon and other planets have such effect on Earth what made you think it doesn’t have any effect on tiny humans (keep in mind we are made up of more than 75% water)? Watch this and you’ll get a lil bit of astrology : youtu.be/eLIowG1FoHA

  • 1. I wouldn’t know either. 2. Because it isn’t a Bible. 3. Sun sign isn’t the only thing that make the person who they really are. There are moon sign, mercury sign, etc… 4. it doesn’t work like that. 5. there are other planets… such as Mars in Taurus, people born in the same day, born in different location, different time… if I move to California, my Saturn would move up to the 12th house… which cause me to have enemies. 6. No, your natal chart is like a picture. Nothing to do with gravity. 7. Yes, You have to look at your parents’ chart, the time they had sex. or Just do your natal chart with transit date of the week or month your parents’ had sex. If you’re a Capricorn, your parents probably had sex during Aries season – March and April. Aries would make you ugly. That is why a lot of Capricorn people are ugly. If you were born premature, such as one month before your due date… Taurus, then Taurus would make you pretty. 8. Yes… Pluto, Uranus, and Neptune became planets because of the expanding population on Earth. 9. That is why we have Western Astrology, Some astrologers no longer use Vedic Astrology, which is old. 10. I would have been with a Cancer guy, if he didn’t do drugs. We were compatible. But oh well. 11. It isn’t entertainment… 12. Your friend may have changed.

  • Horoscopes aren’t real astrology .. that’s the diluted version – also there’s so much more to a birth chart, there’s the rising sign, moon sign, Mercury, Venus (all the planets), houses, stelliums, aspects, you’re not informed enough about it to have an opinion. Two people could be a Taurus sun; but have completely different moon, rising, stellium which is why no two people will have the same personality as no two full charts are the same. It’s like saying that anyone can be a make up artist cos all you have to do is put on lipgloss and mascara but there’s so much more to it than what’s being presented by mass media. As for it affecting us – the moon affects our tides, and our brain chemistry – were 80% water – it’s not necessarily that the planets are directly afffecting us but a recognition of patterns, cycles and the fact that everything is connected – as above so below – cause and effect – can be seen in sacred geometry.Ok Cupid probably didn’t want to make it based on that? It was just a novelty.. the constellations also haven’t moved that much as the Giza plateau in Egypt still directly aligns with Orion’s Belt since it’s been built.. our ancestors where aware of the 13th zodiac but it deliberately wasn’t included.. if it’s not real, why are our government officials planning major political events according to it and practicing it in their Freemason churches? Sure sometimes we can get it wrong, we’re only human, you aren’t a robot, you can’t always guess someone’s sign. I’ve had way too much direct experience and uncanny things happen for me to say it’s not real.

  • I am an Astrologer from Nepal. And i write horoscope in newspaper. So here is what i have to say. So here is your answer for question no. 5 You said every horoscope much have same quality and how come every person are different. Its not the astrologers saying that. It you who is saying that. Astrologer nevers says people born on same day . Same sign have similar qualities. 1…..Every minutes creates different personality. 2…..And every sign are different. For example sunsign. Moon sign. Mar sign. Mercury sign. Jupitar sign. Saturn sign………………………..etc. all are vastly different. 3….each sign have 3 stars. So each stars impacts differently with same sign. 4….each sign goes through 9 different stages. Each stages impact differently in same sign.

  • I am an Astrologer from Nepal. And i write horoscope in newspaper. So here is what i have to say. So here is your answer for question no. 10. You say about love. Why one sign does not match another sign even if they are compatable. This is the most most stupid question. 1….Some times Aries sign etc or other have to face bad time in love.and that time can last for 1 month or week or years etc. In that time the love always become fall or it will be really hard. Even if u have your boyfriend the boyfriend will ignore you. 2…..example aries can fall love will taurus in january……. aries can fall in love with gemini in 2025. …..aries can fall in love with leo for 4 months. Any thing can happens…….so just going by sign is not enough………..the compatibility by zodiac sign is just as per general.or in average. For example you score 20 in maths and 80 in science. Average or general score is 50. 3….. horoscope or Zodiac sign is just the 5% of Astrology. So donot go just by zodiac sign.

  • I am an Astrologer from Nepal. And i write horoscope in newspaper. So here is what i have to say. So here is your answer for question no. 7 You said about DNA and other stuffs more reliable then Astrology. DNA and other stuff will only impact in body. Example you have nose of your grandfather or eyes of your mother. DNA cannot predict about child. Suppose if father is fighter. It doesnot compary that child will be fighter. But if astrologer says that he or she will be fighter then it will be or they will have strong body and courage like fighter.

  • I’ve always really liked astrology, the zodiacs and stuff. Since I was young I would look up all kinds of stuff about the signs and stars etc. I never really thought of it as a true thing though. It just seemed interesting and fun. 🙂 I guess it to the same level of my interest in Greek and Norse mythology 😀

  • I am an Astrologer from Nepal. And i write horoscope in newspaper. So here is what i have to say. So here is your answer for question no. 1..and 2. People cannot find there horoscope just by reading the forecaste because every astrologer focuses on certain person, Subject. Etc And write the horoscope. For example astrologer can write the horoscope for concerning old person or young one or for job holder or for students. Etc. So if Astrologer is focus on students then prediction for the job holders will be less.

  • Newspaper horoscopes have damaged the reputation and conventional basic knowledge isn’t enough to really be able to “talk astrology”. Let’s say with #3’s example you said you’re an aquarius (sun) and maybe someone misinterpreted your cues and said “oh because (xxxxxx) and (yyyyyyy) definitely” and you really were a virgo (sun). despite that you can’t really give a complete enough answer yet because astrology is much more complete than “im a virgo”. a person is the combination of all energies present in a person’s particular natal chart. the same planets’ and heavenly bodies’ interactions at any present moment can strengthen or weaken your energies and thoughts. tl;dr a hypothetical ego (sun) aquarius with a subconscious (moon) virgo can give you little vibes from different signs in particular moments.

  • Not disagreeing that horoscopes are BS; however there is SOME interesting facts concerning astrology and astronomy. :p #1 Gravetational forces DO interact with all matter it can influence. Jupiters gravity as an example DOES affect the orbits of other body masses in our solar system- some scientists think it might actually be the reason Pluto orbits us. #2 You can check crime statistics- on full moons, crime goes up. (Wheter this is because its easyer to see on a full moon remains unknown) #3 People can have mood swings/disorders based on the season (summer, winter, fall, spring) -its not too far of a shot to say the moon could also affect us. :p

  • Read these on astrology. astro.com/info/in_jungonastrology_e.htm oshonews.com/2018/03/08/understand-the-ancient-science-of-astrology/ oshonews.com/2018/03/15/the-whole-universe-is-an-organic-unity/ oshonews.com/2018/03/28/everything-is-joined-to-the-cosmos/ osho.com/read/osho/osho-on-topics/astrology articles.nithyananda.org/2012/08/the-science-of-vedic-astrology/

  • Info from the horoscopes in magazines and the like ONLY considers the SUNSIGN. You can´t label all astrology into the sunsign. All people have horoscopes based of off ALL the planets, not just the sun. If Pluto is a planet or not matters not, it is still moving in our solar system. Please stop talking about things you know almost NOTHING about.

  • Astrology is not a field of divination, just so you know. It is the use they give it today, It became what I call Astromancy (Just a term I use to diference it) Astrology is in fact a dated method of measuring time. You see, in the ancient days, there were no calendars nor clocks so we had to make what we could with what we had. That is also the reason why Ophiuchus is not a real sign. You see, there’s 12 signs, (3×4=12) And there’s 4 seasons. There’s 3 signs for each season, the first one of the season is always the mutable sign, because at the start of each season, people had to adapt to the changes in temperature. The next one is the Fixed sign, which is when people were pretty much having monotonous days tending to their crops without much change in the season, then lastly we have the Cardinal Sign which is when they must prepare for the next season. There’s also the fact that they were established on the Dates of each Solstice and Equinox. For example, Aries, being the first sign, marks the spring equinox, on March 20. You can’t NOT believe in Astrology, it is the precursor of Astronomy. Astrology Is true, what’s stupid is to believe being born on each season somehow changes your fate or personality. If you know how to locate the signs in the sky, you can know the time of the year because of their position. That’s the basis of Astrology. It’s just another medieval study that got turned into mysticism, just like Alchemy, the precursor of Chemistry. Study Astrology instead of thinking you know about it because someone told you because you’re a Sagittarius you’re compatible with Gemini.

  • Newspaper horoscopes are not real Astrology. I have read over 45 Astrology books and a number of Astrology instructional books… non show how to do newspaper/magazine horoscopes or even hint about how to do them…because Newspaper/magazine horoscopes are b s – meant to put down Astrology. Do your research. There are hundreds of Astrology websites that you can do your natal chart for free. Learn how to look at transits and natal charts, progressions, solar returns, relationship charts etc. Who knows – maybe you can learn something. If you are going to be a true skeptic…you should look at all the holes. Even science doesn’t always agree with itself. I recommend “The complete astrologer from Derek and Julia Parker”.

  • You only spoke about western astrology. Vedic astrology has adjusted their signs, etc, as the constellations have moved and only uses the same classical planets (or as they say: the planets visible from earth without the use of a manmade instrument) along with two “shadow” planets Rahu and Ketu which are the western equivalent to the northern and southern nodes which basically are points even astronomers know because that’s when the sun and moon and earth line up for when eclipses occur. We know that there wasn’t “shadow planets” causing this today, but apparently that was the explanation at some point in the past. The 13th “sign” is due to a change by the IAU that adjusted the ecliptic. The constellation isn’t new nor did the ancient Babylonians from which western astrology is derived (though with its Latin names for the constellations) not know about it. The astrology they created had nothing to do with predicting personalities or individual fates. It was for determining when to plant, harvest, etc. It had practical application. There are 12 signs for the same reason there are 12 months in our calendar (our calendar just isn’t based on lunar phases and what zodiac constellation the sun is in). We don’t have to look up to the sky to figure out what month it is and most people’s livelihoods isn’t tied up planting and harvesting. Then you didn’t even discuss the Chinese (and other related) astrology which isn’t even based on actual stars, planets, etc. The 12 “signs” are animals along with the 5 “elements” and the dual yin snd yang and repeats the patterns in cycles of 60 (60 years, 60 months, 60 days, 60 hours).

  • I have a sister in law who actually believes astrology is real – she even has a personal astrologer. (takes her money of course!) I rib her about it, she has a good sense of humor. She also has a personal guru. He takes her money, too. (she doesn’t see those connections) ..she just returned from a “dig” with him in FL or Yucatan, I forget.. She also believes in healing stones, and – tada! – Jesus (not Republican Jesus, the other one). ..can’t leave Jebus out! ..just in case, ya know. ; )

  • I don’t really believe in Astrology, it’s just fun to find similarities in horoscopes to yourself, at least in my view, even though they are vague and generalized. I don’t necessarily read those derived from newspapers, just a few writers on Tumblr and IFunny who have corresponding descriptions, but, similar source. It’s just an interesting thing to think of, not really something to take so seriously as some do. If I ever become serious of Astrology, it’s going to take much more than horoscopes and Astrology fluent inhibitors to peak my interest in the subject. For now its just 2 minutes of my day and a smile.

  • I think many people born on the same day in specific geographical region MAY have similar personalities. I would like to see studies in this matter. Imagine kids born in March, they start to see things in about 2 months after the birth (May). The next couple months of intensive perceptiveness of the world happens on sunny, warm days. Those may come out more extravert for example. Children born in September first thing they are going to see is a room with artificial light, or feel freezing temperatures outside. Thus speaking there may be a little truth in concept of matching months with personalities.

  • Horoscopes are just guesses designed for ordinary people. They go like this: If it’s summer you’re a) on vacation/preparing for a vacation b) a family/job problem messed up your plans. c) you’re at home chilling. These predictions are so vague that they always work for someone. And honestly horoscopes make more sense than god.

  • I never waste my time reading stupid horoscopes, they are pretty much fortunes cookies and I don’t believe in those either. True story, ages ago when I was younger I went on date, we started talking trying to exchange likes and interests, I mentioned I was into Astronomy, and she replied really excited “OMG I love horoscopes too, I never leave the house without reading mine”. Needless to say the relationship didn’t last very long.

  • I think it’s dumb to take zodiac things seriously I like this guy I’m a Aquarius female and he’s a scorpio male and just seeing people saying one zodiac can’t be with another is just weird it doesn’t matter what zodiac sign is as long as you both love each other and respect each other not it’s fun to look up your sign but not so fun when you take it so far we are all different if we were the same the world would be just black and white

  • While Astrology isn’t always accurate 100% of the time, by doing this you yourself are actually proving you are no better than religious extremists. For most, Astrology is simply all in good fun, but there are also times where it actually IS accurate and actually IS a useful tool for some. But seriously, if it isn’t your thing, don’t get involved in it and don’t discourage people who find some amusement in it. And people say I have a stick in my ass.

  • I am an Astrologer from Nepal. And i write horoscope in newspaper. So here is what i have to say. So here is your answer for question no. 6 You said doctor gravity is strongers than stars or planets gravity. You know astrologer will predict the time of birth of your child even if you are not married yet. In Nepal we have astrological charts that can predict you grandchildren birth.

  • While daily horoscopes might be too vague and therefore not be accurate and perceived as b.s. but that is not the case with astrology signs as to the personality TRAITS. I am an avid believer of that and when I used to work as car salesman for 12 years and observe people I would be able to tell after 10 minutes of interacting with customers who is who…! 95% accuracy and if I did make mistake, I was still in the same element (fire, water, air, earth)… so I can tell you now, most people who do get astrology, : Aquarius, Libra, Sagittarius, Capricorn. btw, from car salesman point of view – LIBRAS would be the worst…

  • I was kind of hoping for more interesting reasons. Saying that pop-culture newspaper “horoscopes” that are made to be “consumed” is BS for 5 minutes straight in 12 different ways, is not something I haven’t heard before. Neither is it something I don’t agree with, in spite of my fascination with astrology. I’m not here to say that astrology is a science. I know full well that it’s superstition, that cannot be proved, but next time please do some research. For starters, at least keep in mind that planets, asteroids, houses and aspects between them is a much bigger part of astrology than the Sun sign.

  • I watched this one show, I think it was Good Morning America, and there was an astrologist on it. They gave her raw data on subjects to do charts; they gave her time of birth, date of birth and location of birth, nothing more. Most of the information was just random people. However, there was data on quite a few killers in the mix. The show hosts were skeptical but somehow she managed to identify the characteristics that made them killers, she even made a divination that Jeffrey Dahmer would be murdered in prison before he was murdered in prison. Strangely enough, the most evil person in the mix was actually Mark David Chapman, John Lennon’s murderer. Does anybody know her name? I remember the segment but not her name. My stepmother is real into astrology and according to her some of it is as worthless as fortune cookies, however, some of it can be pretty accurate.

  • Judging ‘astrology’ by newspapers & magazines is like judging Christianity on Jehovah’s Witness’. It’s one facet of something else that’s a lot bigger and older and more complex. It doesn’t meant you have to believe anything, but at least research astrology a bit more comprehensively to refer to it or call this article what it is, why horoscopes are bullshit.

  • Not to mention the precession of the Earth over time slowly changes when a constellation is overhead on a particular day, but this hasn’t been accounted for in Astrology. So even if I’m a Capricorn, on my birthday it’s almost guaranteed that the Capricorn constellation wasn’t overhead since the dates haven’t changed for thousands of years.

  • You have literally no idea what astrology really is. You shouldn’t be discussing it because you have NO idea what you’re talking about. Your knowledge of astrology is so superficial and rudimentary. Trust me real astrology is not a fake newspaper or magazine horoscope. Believe me, all real astrologers put no belief in a generic horoscope of which you speak. Astrology is a lot like astronomy. It deals with a lot of mathematics. But it still differs to astronomy.

  • WATER SIGNS – Emotional signs… they often don’t think because it frustrates them to think to understand when everything is emotionally understood to express to understand… a thought will always create an emotional understanding in a miss conception to react … until a reaction is understood through emotional recognition to relate to understand… (feminine signs) -are both male and female Water Signs -Negative aspects to align with emotions to understand.. some water signs think faster than other water signs… some more sensitive to emotions to understand and express themselves…emotionally driven to learn through great emotional aspects to naturally understand… everything in the solar system is drawn to the sun… the moon regulates the water flow on earth .. the moon regulates the feminine human menstrual cycle… that also included why females will start their periods when the moon orbits earth in 27 days.. and many women that are in the same location will start at the exact same time… if moon regulates the water on EARTH that is %70 percent WATER… the human body also contains and is made up of %70 water.. how else do you think the human body can be regulated in the natural aspect of life… the solar system is what is align to time because that is how we keep track of time….solar system is connected to all of us…… meet a CANCER or Scorpio or Pisces and focus on the emotional recognition to understand .. and personally relate to understand astrology the most natural aspect of life in elements.

  • My avatar and username are definitively based on Babilonian (western) and Chinese zodiacs. They are meaningful for me only in an emotional level (just as some people like Pikachu and some other like Piccolo). I don’t care about horoscopes. Actually I haven’t read my horoscope for, probably, a couple of decades now.

  • I understand your points in this article but I think you should respect people’s beliefs. Also any intelligent person would look up their natal chart rather than trusting a magazine. Theirs more than 12 types of people. And the alignment of stars and planets matter because if you think the fact that the moon can create tides, and think that we are made up mainly of water think about what it could do to us. Also anyone who knows about astrology this new 13th zodiac sign is a hoax. There’s a new constellation but that doesn’t affect the zodiac wheel. Two people that are born exactly the same time would of course be different because of inherited and environmental variations. Astrology is so intricate that it’s hard for an impatient person to grasp. I really think that you should be more respectful to others and their beliefs, as if it were a religion.

  • Horoscopes are definitely not true most of the time unless they are way more personalized. You should 100% look into your whole chart before judging astrology. Of course not everyone is going to have the exact different personalities. I dont think this article even should have been made in the first place before he learned much much more about astrology. It’s very clear to me from this article that he didnt look far into this at all. If your intrested in astrology please dont let this article change your mind. Look into your entire chart and you will find it so accurate there will be no possibility in your mind that astrology is all bs. There are so many different planets, modes, positions, etc, that play into astrology and it’s very accurate. Please do your research before you debunk astrology.

  • To everyone saying this article is crap because astrology is deeper than sun signs— what does that have to do with anything at all? He didn’t say anything about sun signs being all there is to astrology. Where the sun was when you were born doesn’t have anything to do with your personality, like he said in the article. So why would the moon and the stars have to do with it? Oh, Jupiter was halfway through it’s orbit when you were born, therefore you’re very secretive? No. That makes no sense at all.

  • I’ve done horoscopes, Chinese Zodiac, feng shui, runes, pendants, tarot, and every other form of divination I could find, searching for truth, hoping to discover secret powers. In the end I realized the secret was that any insight only came from within me. The stuff I was using was just a way to focus my imagination and let my subconscious play. There is no outside “power” to tap into. I used to do diviniations for friends, but soon found that they just couldn’t accept that this WAS NOT REAL. They’d take my divinations as gospel and act like I’d given them some great insight into mysteries of the beyond, even when they wouldn’t have taken my own word seriously. Somehow if it came from divination they really believed it came from some “higher wisdom”. I couldn’t stand misleading them, even unintentionally, so I gave it up. Many of them were offended when I told them over and over that their faith in it was misplaced. They were just so desperate to hear what they wanted the truth to be that they couldn’t accept reality when it was spelled out for them.

  • I see alot of people in this comment section saying “ASTROLOGY ≠ ZODIAC SIGNS! Astrology is a lot more complex and accurate!”. Okay, putting aside the nonsense idea that astrology has value… manyy people believe in the zodiac signs of newspapers. The same irrational thought process is found in all of astrology

  • If you diss astrology, people will say, there’s more to it than sunsigns; there are 9 planets and the signs in which they are blah blah. Okay, but why just the planets? Why are the asteroids not included, the ones between Mars and Jupiter? Why don’t we include the moons of the other planets? Surely they must have some effect on influencing every human, they are huge! Ganymede and Titan are larger than Mercury!

  • Astrology is used as a framework to understand some potential tendancies you may have. Nothing is set in stone. I repeat nothing is set in stone. The cosmic alignment of different planets influences several things about you, but this is also not taking into account environmental considerations. The reasons why two people with the same sign or the same alignment or what have you don’t have the same personality because there are several factors to take into consideration. First of you have to consider astrology as a whole of its individual pieces, there is no one individual alignment that can define your personality. This means that you have to consider every planet in relation to each other. Moreover, people are born in different environmental conditions and have other things that influence their personality including their name and birthday. The reason why there is so much conflict between different astrologers is because the planets shift ALOT so the degrees/symbols in which a person is born change over time.

  • I am into what year you were born. You being older then me or what time you were born does have a difference with what knowledge you can gain in a school, say you are 5 months younger then me, you could have a different outlook and then the genes enter into the situation . . . really it all seems to move in the same language that helps you get to know someone a little better. As for the thing in itself, I think it is not reciprocal to anything being just that a sign gives you power!

  • I was actually in charge of writing horoscopes for my elementary school newspaper. Yes pulling them out of my ass is a good way to describe writing horoscopes. Seriously, the teacher wanted to check my research for each issue and was always annoyed when I asked how? She would pull up one website and show me the horoscope on it. Then I would write whatever the heck I felt like writing. Her: “See you need to do the proper research so it will be creditable.” Me: Smiles and nods.

  • I have to disagree. what most people fail to identify is that there is a huge difference between horoscopes and astrology. Horoscopes is basically like going to a fortuneteller… Yeah we all know that’s bogus. as to where astrology it focuses more on the astronomical alignments on the day that you were born, your element, ruling planets, ancient astronomical signs that basically point out characteristics. For example as an Aries, it says that I’m a fire sign, usually burning with desire, highly physically active, honest but short tempered, born leaders…etc etc. Gee I wonder, I’ve always liked sports and physical activities since I was a kid..I’m a very likeable person but don’t mess with me kind of attitude. I can be very impatient but understandable..And I do run my own team/company. I guess astrology is just bogus huh?

  • I consider it a possibility that the zodiac is what remains of some actual pre-scientific observations of behavior in children born at different times. Before the modern era, nutrition would vary a lot by season, and we know that nutrition has a significant effect on child development, before and after birth. Lacking this understanding, the “inventors” attributed the effect to the stars, which they could see changing with the seasons, and possibly already gave credence as divine messengers. To muddy the waters further, these teachings were then moved out of their context, to regions where the “rules” didn’t work, and likely mixed with a variety of local folklore. What we’re left with is seasonal affective disorder as interpreted through a game of chinese whispers that’s been going on for maybe 3000 years, and possibly with a sprinkling of nutritional knowledge that became more or less obsolete when roads were invented.

  • Before you comment on something why don’t you look into it and research it. For your information western astrology may not be that accurate but vedic astrology is one of the most accurate things I have come across. Before you blabber about science just telling you astrology is a form of science. I challenge you look into your own chart first and then make a conclusions instead of being so close minded. Stop judging everything this is comming from a person who debunked astrology looked into it then made a conclusion if you wanna diss something atleast know about it instead of making a mockery and general statements just saying.

  • Really? I’ve drawn 10’000 charts, l’m extremely skilled in astrology. Im an Aries with Cancer rising and Capricorn moon, my cousin is a Cancer with Capricorn rising and moon and Aries Mars and Venus. A priori, we should be similar, we are. We look the same, have the same kind of energy. With Aries in the sun l should be a lot more dominant as my basic personality, whereas he should be more dom in his romantic life and when engaged “in action”, like in sports, in anger, or when he needs to get his drive going. It’s spot on. I am generally a dominant, hasty fellow, he is generally his Cancer self, you can tell his family is the most important for him, but when he played hockey he was BAD ASS!!!! WAY more bad ass than me. In social and romantic life he is a savage! Literally like his Aries venus. When drunk he comes onto women like crazy, he’s really a fuckin Aries in action, l’m a lot cooler in those areas, I’m Aquarius venus. I mean every placement of every chart l have drawn has been spot on. You just need something hard to get in this world, something people don’t usually pursue, something that this society discourages i.e. a brain.

  • I’m not going to claim astrology is real, but I’m also not going to agree that astrology=horoscopes. There’s a lot more to it, and it’s actually quite interesting to read about things in your complete star chart, albeit a lot of it probably applies to a lot of people and some parts are more accurate than others. To go by astrology in life is of course not a good idea, but I consider it one of the things that might help you reach more insights about yourself; your astrological sign in some cases works as any other label, where the only difference is that it’s been decided for you. It’s food for thought, though I suppose everyone has different appetites.

  • Hey, guys. I consider myself a very rational person, agnostic, so do other people. A few weeks ago my good friend gave me a link to a web-site which describes a character of a “cancer”. I told that person that I’m a non-believer and a sceptic, but decided to take a look as I have never actually read a discription. Guess what? It’s about 75-85% right. And only one sign describes my type of character as it is. Do I believe in astrology? No, I do not, however at the same moment I am fascinated by the way I was described. At least the discription helps me understand myself better. Give it a try and think rationally, I am not trying to make you believe, I do not myself, but do not be arrogant and give it a try.

  • I had a few of logical qualms with your list. 1. The odds are you will get every single one correct, because they’re written in order. 7. There is ruffly the same amount of time between conception and birth for almost everyone. The difference between the two is nothing more than linguistic nomenclature, because it would simply mean that they should call virgos, capricorns in stead. Other than that, nothing changes. 8. Knowledge vs existence: It’s not like the planets we didn’t know about weren’t there until we discovered them.

  • Everyone knows this, it’s a game that people play. They know the truth of it and just roll-play like it’s real. It’s for fun and if someone gets their panties in a twist over it, they are just as much of an idiot as the “true believers”. There are exceptions, there are people who are “true believers” but few are actually hard-core.

  • I I’m an occultist I don’t even believe in horoscopes. Also sign dating sites or whatever I don’t I think your astrological sign matters when it comes to dating. Also any interesting note you didn’t really do research because you only talked about your sun I know your moon sign not your rising sign or any other sign. I’m not defending astrology or throwing it to the wind but there are some interesting ideas that I wanted to put out there. Also one may say astrology is vague but i disagree wholly with that statement. I took a look at my natal chart and it is pretty specific not even close to Vegue. To go get your natal chart.

  • I didn’t really believe in horoscopes either… But one specific horoscope app is just about 90% correct, and the other 10% it’s wrong for me, it is correct for my mother (Who is the same sign as me) And the app isn’t exactly vague either, it’s just about spot on. I even have friends read it and they just sit there like “… Did you write this about yourself?” So the magazine/newspaper horoscopes I found to be completely wrong/super vague it just happens to be right. But the app I have is quite specific. And being the kind of person I am, I read all of them. Fun enough, none of them came close to anything in my life EXCEPT the one that is my sign. So I guess I’ve found the one true astrologist that knows what they’re doing ^^ Try it for like a week. If it’s completely off for you, then I’m not sure what to tell ya as it’s been accurate for all my friends, even ones that thought they were stupid in the first place XP Go on the itunes app store and look up “Daily horoscope” Currently it’s the first one with the pink background and white “DH” (Named “The DailyHoroscope”) As for the science (Or I guess “Science” behind it.) From what I’ve gathered, it’s not really exactly when your born, it’s while you’re still being developed. Other planets have a gravitational effect on us (last I heard) and that can screw a bit with your brain. When you’re being developed, it makes changes to your mind. Horoscopes don’t determine your personality, it determines personality TRAITS. (And it’s not the DAY your born, it’s within which time slot you were born.

  • My best friend believes in astrology and lately she’s really going hardcore into the whole thing. Im getting so frustrated/worried… Normally my thinking is, as long as it’s not hurting anybody, I don’t give a fuck what she believes. But now she’s thinking about ‘studying’ astrology and dedicating her life to it. And it’s just upsetting to me because I think she’ll be wasting her life and potential but I’ll just sound like an unsupportive bitch if I tell her that.

  • hi pliz come to india and show your horoscope to some genuine(not fake) astrologers. They will tell alot about astrology which is true.. 3 types of people:- 1)fear driven people who believe everything both wrong and right. 2)atheist who know some science and starts thinking in the way you are thinking. 3)after getting alot more deep into science they know the true meaning of God
